Chilly Tuesday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Chilly Tuesday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Tue Nov 14, 2023 7:49 am

Good Morning everyone. Chilly here at the 45th this morning. 27° under a clear sky. But heading to around 50 this afternoon. Way above average for this time of year. Got a beautiful week ahead. So you can bet I will out enjoying it and puttering around outside. Think I mentioned awhile back, that my leaf blower died. Well, after some time consuming research, I decided to get a battery one for now. So was out working with it yesterday. Am really impressed with it’s power, but of course as battery powered anything, the batteries only last a short tme before they run down. 15 minutes in this case. But, since I use Ryobi tools, I already had 5 batteries here, so made sense to get same brand blower. It caramel with a battery and charger and Home Depot has the Christmas sales going, so snagged two more batteries, giving me a total of 8 18 volt batteries. 15 minutes run time, that’s 2 hours worth of work. But with 4 chargers, soon as one goes down, into the charger it goes. Takes about an hour to charge. So I should be able to keep going as they run down and recharge. But I didn’t buy it for all day work. Mostly for getting leaves out of places the tractor can’t go and just cleaning off the deck, walks, Drive etc. when needed.

Judy, sorry about the refrig. First time I have heard of that happening. Barbie, hope they can get the mess at work under control. Sharon, I thin it’s cute that Buddy talks to you. Molly does that when it’s time for our daily walk. She either gives me a bark or series of barks or sometimes she will start with a very low little whine/moan, which increases in frequency and eventually becomes a bark. It’s riot to listen to, because I may be working on a woodcraft project on the kitchen table or sitting here with the IPad and she’s laying on the floor or the loveseat and I start hearing that little whine a bit at a time :)

Karen, as much as you like making meals, maybe you should open a deli  Anita, I don’t blame you for thinking of finding another place to settle into. That’s crazy. I haven’t seen anything on the Paradise rebuild, but like Karen said, tines change and we must change with the times. Sometimes whether we want to or not. Beth, glad to hear your dental issue is taken care of. Now to enjoy the winter and make some decisions too. Martha, that was a good idea stopping to Wi terize the trailer. One less thing to worry about. I think I am all set here for Wi ter as well. The which of, sounds like it will be arriving latter part of next week. No surprise, as it always gets messy around Thanksgiving. So have a nice day everybody.

Good morning Sue and all!

Sue, your high temperature today is still cooler than what I woke up to this morning. But I know you're used to it. It sounds like you have enough batteries to keep you going without worrying about down time. I sure hope Judy doesn't have to buy another refrigerator. As with so many things, they become obsolete in such a short period of time. Refrigerators for RV's are so expensive. Barbie, I hope the calls to the managers at work will alleviate the issue you have with the new girl. I can't remember who asked if I had a substitute organist, and the answer is no. It's been over two years since I've had a Sunday off, but we have reservations to go to MD for two weeks next year. There is a gal who has subbed for me in the past who can play with one or two fingers, but it's better than nothing. This lady had a major medical issue for the past two years, which was the reason I hadn't taken time off.

It was 65 degrees when I got up this morning and now it's 69 and cloudy. We'll get into the mid 70's and have high winds today, tomorrow and Thursday, which will make it feel cooler than it actually is. We're still pressure washing our site but I'm watching Steve work because of my shoulder issue, but it is improving. Have a good day!

Good morning. I am up early and the temp is 47 so totally fine with me. Of course we have some clouds and fog (the usual) supposed to get some occasional rain showers today, sometimes we do and sometimes we dont LOL Finishing my first cup of coffee, the best cup of the day.
Sue "opening a deli" LOL LOL I like to cook because I like to eat and really dont enjoy eating out all the time. What I dont like is planning meals. I never know what I am going to want. So when I cook I cook enough to put a couple of meals in the freezer. Can just pull it out, warm it, add a side or two BAM dinner. I like making desserts too BUT not eating them so much. One or two pieces suits me. I usually peddle most of them to my neighbors I have made some really good little desserts for one or two in a ramekin from my favorite onedishkitchen.com website. I save the recipes in copymethat.com easy to find and I can categorize them and it tells me if I already have it in my folders. AND best part is it also lists the website I found it on. It is free, so that works great for me. Anne I too got my fill of tomatoes but I didnt freeze any of them, no room in my freezer. Next year I am only having 3 plants instead of 7. I planted that many this year because previous couple years were dismal in the tomato arena. Hope we have another good year of yield. Irmi they are very lucky to have you. Finding reliable help in any arena is certainly tough nowadays. Time for more coffee.....later

PS

Well, I never thought I would get tired of tomatoes - but there you go! I did, and am still a little off of them - but my liking is coming back.

Went to look at the recipie link - error message, that I didn't have permission to view the page or something.

Karen, sure wish we could get some of your rain!

Anne not sure why it didnt work but oh well....Here is the easiest recipe for cinnamon roll bake I have found. You can half it also which is what I do.

Ingredients
2 x 17.5 oz Pillsbury Grands! Cinnamon Rolls, (two tubes)
2 x 21 oz Apple Pie Filling, (two cans)
Nuts are optional

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 9x13" baking dish with non-stick spray and set aside.
Unwrap the cinnamon rolls from the tube and set the included frosting aside for later use. Cut each of the cinnamon rolls into fourths and place in a large bowl.
Spoon the apple pie filling into the bowl and gently stir to combine. Pour the cinnamon roll mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread into an even layer.
Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the center is cooked through and no longer doughy. Remove from oven and drizzle the top of the cinnamon roll bake with the icing. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
*You can half the recipe and bake in an 8x8" dish for just 25 to 30 minutes.
**If needing to prepare ahead of time: cover prior to baking and place in the fridge for up to 24 hours.

OK, here is what I was attempting to do yesterday when it all went KA- Plunk! I was sitting next to my GGS (one year old) And I began thinking how we are so much alike as I age and he grows! We’re unsteady on our feet, we both need help up and down stairs. He has fine baby hair and I have thinning hair. It’s like we are ships passing in the night.
I was so exhausted Sunday, it was like I missed that day completely. Saturday I went to another GGS football game. Now if I had my way, these young (8 year old) kids would never play football. I am keeping my mouth shut because it is none of my business. Several friends of his parents gave them heck for letting him play football.
I am going to have Won-Tons for breakfast, cooked in the air fryer. How’s that for a nurishing meal!

We started this morning in mid 40's, chilly for us, but will end up in high 60's or low 70's. Showers have been predicted, but every hour or two, the when, where, and how much changes on local and national weather service predictions! So, I go with, if I step out and my head gets wet, we finally have rain. So far my head has been dry this week!
We have sons regular psych check appointment for RX renewal this afternoon. Hopeful they have finally finished road work on the street to and from. It's only a 15 mile drive, but the long street we follow to just before the office and on way back, has had partial closures and work going on about 4 years now! No real alternate routes.
Stormy is hollering for breakfast, so I better get that done and get ready for my treadmill walk during my 10 o'clock weekly watercolor class.
Have a good day everyone!

Barbie, I get so frustrated with those choices, I usually end up yelling "Human Being" into the phone a few times until the automated person sends me to a real person.

I am eating based on what food is in my refrigerator. It looks like I will be able to get only the door! That will save me a ton of money. Got a list of dealers that carry Dometic refrigerators and parts, so starting to call them right now. Cooler leaked a bit overnight because I did not have drain completely closed. Got one rug wet, but OK now that I tightened it. It is right near my door, with the drain hanging over my step, and I attached one of my shorter hoses to the drain so I can drain it outside. Also put a closure on hose so I can control draining. It's a very heavy cooler with thick sides, so the ice seems to be lasting.

I love your analogies, Lyn. And wontons for breakfast work for me. So would cinnamon rolls with apple for filling. I have one small piece left of the half apple pie I purchased over a week ago. It's so good and this was a big treat for me. Unlike you, Karen, I haven't shared any of it.

I've never been a fan of tomatoes, except in sauces, etc. My sister plants them like several of you. Anne, she makes a lot of salsa and freezes it. It lasts till the next years tomatoes are ripening.

Sue, it sounds like with all those chargers you'll never run out of power.

Judy, lot of mom and Pop RV repair places keep all kinds of parts. My favorite one is in Alabama and while they did some work for me I mentioned I needed another freezer shelf. Next time I opened my freezer, they'd put one in. I wish they weren't so far from me. But it wouldn't hurt to call them. Called around and couldn't find a replacement door in stock, but I found a dealer about 20 miles away that can order it from a warehouse and have it for me by Thursday. They cannot install because service is swamped, but I just have to remove door handle and front panel from current door and slip them on new door. Also, door just slips on pins top and bottom so I should be able to install it myself. Cost will be $368, which is a lot cheaper than a new refrigerator.

Whew!!

I'll be around the Northwest next Fall, so I will be looking for fresh tomatoes then!

Lots of food for thought in posts today. I've been thinking about what gets me out of bed in the morning. Other than a need for the bathroom, I have no idea! I think my next project is downloading the digitized videos and editing into thumb drives for various family members. I have a Christmas needlework project awaiting last tedious steps, but I bought a frame for it, so I'll be anxious to finally finish it.

Lyn, children and football worries me! I don't remember how old my older grandson was when they signed him up for football - probably around 10. His other grandmother and I both thought it was ridiculous because he did/does not have the personality for that roughness. Sue, so many truths in your post about our lives. I have always thought of what my grandmother witnessed from 1890 until 1992.

3 years ago yesterday, we had a lot of snow on the ground - my camping winter here. Current prediction does not show much snow this month and not a whole lot next month, but that can change.

Good news, Judy!!

Good afternoon to all, just checking in - been busy trying to take care of every thing falling apart, including me and Bill. Bill's eye continues to get worse, has appt with new doctor Dec 1. Also his ear has been driving him nuts, feeling pressure in the ear and sounds. Saw ear doc today, putting him on new nasal spray, his hearing isn't too bad yet, so no hearing aids. I think he just has selective hearing. Our Dish TV got where it just would shut off when it wanted (and always on the TV Bill was watching) to so had tech service, said the main box had to be raised off the shelf for air circulation - has worked since, but now it is giving me a different complaint. So have to call them again. The service people were supposed to come between 12 and 5. So I went for walk in the morning. At 10:30 I get a call they are at gate to community, what is code. I am at least a mile from home walking. They said no problem they'd wait. My legs still hurt from fast walking home - did not even try to run. Next day Bills new computer stopped putting out sound. Of course he can't see well enough to fool with it. He got so stressed he had to go lay down. in the morning I called Geek Squad, glad I pay for it, for help. On phone with guy in Panama for an hour, still no sound. He sent me somewhere else - India maybe - tech there took about 10 minutes and problem was fixed. uninstalled speaker drivers and reinstalled them. Crisis solved.
Looking into RV lessons, but will wait until after first of year when we know if Bill's eyes will get any better. He no longer has a drivers license - so it is up to me. Also if his eyes do get a little better we might fly to Mazatlan for a month. Every thing in air. The Zyrtec is no longer preventing the extreme exhaustion in Bill. He has had some really bad days and gets so frustrated between the eye and feeling useless and weak. Yesterday he was in bed most of day, today we 've been to doctor out to breakfast and he is fine. This too shall pass I hope.
Weather here is great down low 50 nights and mid 70's day time. Great for early walking.
Paid $4.80 to fill gas tank on Jeep the other day. Nevada is one of the most expensive states to own a car in. The insurance is horrendous. I just switched to Hartford, half of the cost.
So still around, read daily but not much to say. Most of our friends are heading to or already in Mazatlan, first time in 15 years we've been home.
Judy hope the fridge door comes and is easily installed.

Carol, sorry to hear that Bill is having a hard time with his sight and ears now. I am sure you both are very frustrated. Just take one day at a time and enjoy the good ones until things improve.

I saw a recipe the other day where you take the cinnamon roll biscuits, cut each one in half so you have top and bottom. Flatten each one out. Put a spoonful of canned apple pie filling on the bottom, then put the top on and pinch it around the edges. Bake them, and you have little individual apple pie cinnamon rolls! Sounded good!

I also don't agree with little kids playing football. It is a dangerous sport and with kids still growing, they don't need to be dealing with those kinds of injuries, especially head injuries!

I played putters this morning and did OK, and it is always fun. Met some new ladies. Was a beautiful morning. So far no sign of rain out this way.

I finally ordered a new pair of glasses. I haven't found the ones I lost a couple months ago. I have been wearing my old ones but now that I have to drive home in the dark, it is really hard to see with them since the prescription is so different. I ordered them from Zenni so will be a week or two before I get them. The frames I have been ordering for awhile are out of stock so I had to order a different frame. I hope I like them when I get them.

Work went OK too. I worked with my manager. They hired a new guy to work there. I met him when I first got there today. He has a barber license only and fresh out of barber school, so he is new at cutting men's hair and doesn't know how to cut women's hair at all. Great! . Luckily, he is Hispanic so he can translate for me if/when I get an Hispanic customer (which we get a lot of!). If I get stuck working with him, I will make sure he only takes the boys/men, and I will take the women. I can't be training someone on how to cut hair. That isn't my job and I surely don't get paid enough for that! The management must be really desperate to be hiring people who are not even close to being qualified. I need to either sell my house soon or start looking for another job. There are quite a few more jobs this time of year than in the summer months. I am just tired of all this crap at work! Too much stress and chaos!

I picked up some snacks for Friday. My agent wants to serve snacks and Margaritas for the Open House.

I will be busy the next couple days getting the house, deck, and yard sale stuff all ready. I have a list yay long of things I need to do. Gonna get to bed early tonight. I have been trying to get to bed between 10 and midnight lately, and then I wake up around 7am.

Speaking of animals talking (from yesterdays MC), Sophie talks to me all the time! She is very chatty! It is so cute! Romeow rarely meows unless he wants his dish filled. I have two dishes with food in them. If he sees even a tiny bit of the bottom of the dish between the kibble, he thinks he is about to starve to death! So I just put the food from one dish into the other one to fill that one up and he is happy again!

Have a good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Yesterday my internet was down until about 10:00 last night. It rained all day but not hard enough to knock out Directv so don't know what was wrong with the internet. I was on my phone and tablet all day and when I could get on the computer my eyes wouldn't focus on the writing. That was weird. They are working today. It is misting and just generally messy but I'm not complaining. We have gotten about an inch of rain. The cats have a short memory. They want out and in a few minutes want back in because it's cool. It's 65 and I'm glad it's not really cold. It's gumbo weather so I had chicken and sausage gumbo for lunch. I said to heck with the burn ban and burned the papers I wanted to burn. Everything is wet so don't think I will start a fire that gets out of control.

Judy, hope the door works out for the refrigerator. I think they build RV's around the refrigerator. When I changed the refrigerator in my previous RV they had to take out a side window to get the old one out and the new one in. It looks like the service places would take pity on someone that lives in the RV.

I finished some bread pudding last night that I got when we went to eat out 2 weeks ago. I would only eat a couple of bites every night. My favorite pie is the fresh strawberry pie from Piccadilly with all the whipped cream. I can make a slice of it last a week. I found some Key Lime pie in little individual servings at the dollar store.

I have managed to get two pair of shoes wet and lose a pair. How do you lose shoes? I'm thinking they have to be in the camper but I looked and didn't see them. This morning I thought of something to go to town for and now I don't remember what it was so guess I won't go to town.

This is a post I was trying to post about noon and my internet went down again. I was able to copy it to my notes. The internet just came back on. It hasn't been raining hard enough to make the TV go off. The next time it goes off for no reason I'm calling as much as I hate to get into it with the service people. They make me go through all the crap I have been doing for two days.

My cats talk to me all the time. They mostly want food or out. They will come and meow at me and I follow them to the food bowls or the door. I made a mistake and bought some cat food other than the Iams for sensitive stomachs to use like treats. Now that's all they want. I have a cage in the living room to feed Charlie in because he is missing some of his teeth and needs soft food. The other cats sit and watch him eat hopeing he will leave something.

before I forget Judy I thought of you at the store today looking for apricot jam and saw Sour Cherry Preserves
and Barbie I saw what I think might be the honey you mention not sure but it sounded like it but it was on clearance table and still over 7.00 dollars so didn't get it ...
I feel like I accomplished what I set out to do today.... the plants are happy still need to start the dishwasher but that will happen in a bit clothes put away and trip to the grocery store oh and scriptures read....
we finished up the stew tonight think I have the stuff to make sweet and sour chicken it was sounding good but if I decide tomorrow it doesn't will figure out something else for the chicken
I need to organize the freezer so I know what is in there and start planning meals around it...
I think what gets me out of bed is knowing that I need to give mom her pill and then fix a breakfast of sorts if I didn't have to fix bk for her it probably wouldn't happen
My grandfather lived 103 years he homesteading here on what came to be called Mormon Row not sure what it was called early on he said that he lived in 3 counties and never moved a foot... but can you imagine what he saw in those 103 years???
there was something else I was going to mention oh but Judy is getting a new door so don't need to
although for future reference if a residential fridge would fit it would be an option from what I understand lots of rv'ers are going to residential fridge's it wouldn't work for me as I boon dock at least that was my mod will see when I once again go south...
you all have a great day
