Sunny Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunny Monday

Postby Othersharon » Mon Nov 13, 2023 10:58 am

Good morning all. It may be sunny but it was 27 when I came downstairs this morning and all of 38 now. It doesn’t thrill me to have to bundle up first thing to take Buddy out but it is what it is! It’s a good time to do a bit of training and to play fetch for a bit. Then we come in and while I’m enjoyable my coffee he gets his breakfast. Wrapping my hands around a hot cup of coffee is more than welcome. Guess it’s time to pull out the gloves! Had a quiet weekend and didn’t do a whole lot but today’s agenda is bagging more leaves. No big surprise there! My tree in the back finally lost most of its leaves so time to get after them. I’m trying to figure out where we can go for a nice walk and be able to take a little ride. Need some new scenery! Barbie, sure hope they work something out with your work environment. Judy, I think I need to look at my refrigerator door to see how it’s put together! Never thought of it maybe being all one piece with the hinges. It’ll be interesting to hear what the outcome is. Karen, it’s good that you’re settling into your new area. Under normal conditions it takes time but you had so many changes that most don’t ever have to deal with. Well, Buddy is talking to me so guess he wants to go out again so since he’s the boss I’d better listen to him! Right now he’s laying beside me and doing a low sound that’s not a bark but looking at me as if to tell me to get moving! So time to bundle up again and grab a couple of balls and spend some more time in the yard! Have a great day.

Hi Sharon and all that check in!

Sharon, it's so cute to read that Buddy is "talking" to you! And I love reading how well he is doing. It is certainly cold in your corner of the world. It's chilly here, but not that cold. Keep the Buddy stories coming!

We woke to 63 degrees and at 11:40, it just got to 70. I don't anticipate it getting much warmer. Steve had his Wellness Check this morning, that was in the same building as our PCP in Ocala. I went along for the ride and took a book to read while I sat in the car. We stopped at the grocery store on our way home to get crab meat for tonight's dinner. We also got the ingredients for Wednesday's meal when friends we get together with once a month visit. I'll make Swedish meatballs for the appetizer and Steve will make pulled pork with his homemade BBQ sauce. We'll also have a couple sides.

The Veteran's Day service in church went well yesterday and we had a good turnout. Now I have a week to practice for the next service.

On our way home today, I noticed that gas is selling for $ 2.97/gal. and diesel is going for $ 3.97/gal. It's still not as low as it should be, but lots better than it has been.

I had a long message underway. Then lost the entire thing. Maddening. To be continued. Lyn

I went to Mexico. Walked Ty in drizzle first. Drove to the border in drizzle. Walked across in drizzle and puddles. Was a mess of huge puddles at the intersection I wanted to cross to go where I've gotten my hair cut before so decided to head back towards the dentist instead. Almost passed a place that had various signs, one including haircuts. I think it was meant for men, but anyone with scissors could do what I want and the man welcomed me in. $6 ($10 with my tip) later and actually did head to the dentist. I was about 1/2 an hour early so wasn't paying attn and one of the guys behind the desk called out my name loudly, staring straight at me lol. Yes, I never heard the soft spoken young lady at the door to the back calling me. I apologized for daydreaming and everyone laughed. Crown done. Walk back across was chilly in the heavier drizzle with a stronger breeze. Have and need to park my car in the next row over on front of the owners home (they aren't here right now) because a new line is being run between the propane tank and laundry room/bathrooms and where I park by my rig edges along there. So I'm temporarily moved. I didn't think they'd start until tomorrow with this wet weather, but I think they want to get it done. Ty is enjoying watching out the side window whenever anyone is there. Because I knew they'd be there including people he doesn't know and probably get obnoxious with me gone, I put his bark collar on him. It's funny because it's NOT one that harms. It vibrates. He rarely ever barks with it on because he knows that. When I tell him he needs his collar, he sits and waits for it. It's funny. Every now and then something makes him need to bark anyway. If he does a couple barks, ignoring the vibration, it squeals. And he stops dead looking around at what and where that is. He's so funny.

I never want a house again. I guess the casita is kind of a house, but I'd be ok with something like Karen has. Kind of why I'm leaning to the two RV parks. I just don't want to completely stay in one place. That day may come. Even doing two parks means thinking about selling my C, and I'm also not ready to completely quit traveling. Too many decisions to make. But they don't have to be made today.

The rain should end later today. The clouds are supposed to part sometime tomorrow afternoon and the sun show it's welcome face plus bring temps up to 70 briefly. Yay. Sun. I'm looking forward to it

Afternoon all Mostly cloudy out and 55 right now so not bad. Spent the morning filing and rearranging my file cabinets. Now hopefully when I need to find a manual for something i just need to look in ONE file drawer instead of 3. I am kind of slow this morning but then I realize, I dont have to hurry. Dont have anywhere I have to be until Friday morning eye doc. I guess I just like to get things done on somewhat of a schedule. Today there is no schedule LOL I think my sleeping pattern is under control now for the most part. I stayed up the other night until a little after 10 and woke up at 5 so that is better. Last night went to sleep at about the same time and woke up a little before 6. YAY I like this sleep schedule much better.

Judy sure hope you can get your fridge fixed in a timely manner. Seems like we have to wait forever for anything anymore. Sharon very happy to hear how well Buddy is doing. You must be doing something right to keep him on task. Good for you. Beth happy to hear you got your dentistry all done for now. As you know decisions are not easy to figure ou, Sometimes it just takes time for the realization of which direction you should go becomes clear. Even then we dont always know if we made the right decision. I vascillated over whether or not to get another RV and then decided not right then. I am still pretty content and busy without not having one. I loved camping tho but times have changed and sometimes we just need to change with them. Irmi sounds like you are having a great meal...but then all your food sounds good. Are you the only organist in your church?? Anne today I was wishing I had one of my awesome tomatoes to put on my bacon sandwich.....my work around tho was to just put more bacon in it LOL

Time for my afternoon Mocha and a cookie or two ha ha

Beth, you sound about as soggy as I did last Christmas in California with all the rain. I don't think in three weeks there that I ever had a dry pair of shoes!!

I did not sleep last night--maybe less than an hour, but I was having some aching and gas pains. Just not comfortable. So I took off early this morning, at least early for me, and drove 193 miles to St. Lucie Lock and Dam. Called Dometic and they needed serial number and complete model number, which i could not give them without taking all the tape off the door. Even without it, they said this model refrigerator is no longer made, and if I could not find a scrap door, I will have to buy a new refrigerator. Yuck $$$$$. There are companies that sell RV parts, so tomorrow I will start calling around. I think it is really, really stupid of them to make half of the hinge out of plastic and form it along with the door!

I got a truck wash at Blue Beacon and then stopped at Walmart for a cooler. When I got to campground, I took tape off door and had to hold it with one hand while I grabbed stuff and put it on the counter or floor. I am tossing a lot of stuff, like the few olives in a jar and the barbecue sauce I made, and the old jar of plum jam, etc. I'm sure you get the point.     We all tend to accumulate stuff in our refrigerators, so at least this gave me the chance to clean it out. I put the small things from my chocolate and cheese drawer into a big Tupperware container that has a tight lid. Also, put some little containers of tapioca pudding I made from scratch into zip lock bags, and put them on top to eat first. So, next few days, I will be eating stuff to get rid of it, or throwing it out!! And I will have to go out every couple of days for ice, unfortunately.

This campground has only 9 RV spots and 5 tent sites, but they also have about 6 boat sites with electric and water hookups. As I drove in I noticed a group of people from two large sailboats having a cookout. They have a special area for boat campers to cook and picnic--nice touch.

Have pretty much straightened up kitchen, but I need to wash out the containers from the stuff I tossed. Might just rinse them and do them tomorrow. I have a headache from driving and lack of sleep, but at least no more abdominal aches, so after a shower I will go to sleep.

Beth, that looks like perfect weather! Glad you got your tooth fixed. How much did they charge for the crown?

Judy, Hope you don't lose too much food and can find a fridge door.

Went to sleep by 9:30 last night and woke up at 7am. Got up a little later and went to pay the annual fee ($9.00) for the putters league, that starts tomorrow.

Called the storage place I switched to 4 months ago. They said I owe them from last month. I had set up autopay with them when I moved in there, with my checking account. Now they say they don't accept checking accounts for payment and never have. I asked why it wasn't an issue until now. She didn't know. I gave her a different card number to use. I looked at my checking account and don't see any payments coming out of there over the last 4 months from them. I have no clue what happened with all that. None of it makes sense.

Then I called Home Depot which was very frustrating since you just get options to choose from for your issue. None of them was my issue, which was about their autopay. When I look on line, it says I have no balance to pay but I used the card to pay for the dishwasher. I finally got PO'd about the worthless options they were giving me and when it asked what option I wanted, I just said "operator!!". Surprisingly, that worked! :o I was switched to a real person. I made my payment with her and still need to figure out the autopay thing. I was getting so frustrated but I managed to keep from having an emotional meltdown which is what usually happens (an ADHD thing- "emotional dysregulation"). I just kept telling myself to take a deep breath and that it will get resolved eventually. It worked. :D

I also called the handiman who works in the park here and he said he could pick up the stinky turf piece today to take to the dump. So I moved the table, umbrella, and chairs and rolled it up (with gloves and a mask) and moved it to the end of the driveway. He never showed up but it is there in case he shows up tomorrow for it. He is Hispanic and they never show up on time.

Then I started on my shed. I pulled everything out and sorted it into what I want to keep for the RV, what goes into storage, what goes in the yard sale, what I will leave for the new owner, and what is trash. The shed is mostly empty now as most of it goes in the sale or the trash. So that was a successful endeavor. I have a nice pile of stuff to sell now.

Tomorrow is putters golf in the morning and then work from 1-6. So Wednesday and Thursday will be straightening up the house, cleaning the deck, and getting the sale stuff priced and organized. Thursday night I will post the signs at the intersections near my house with balloons on them. It is usually the biggest yard sale of the season since owners are cleaning out stuff they don't want after the summer or new owners cleaning out stuff left behind by previous owners. We sell these places turn-key, fully furnished and many new owners don't want to keep a lot of it so they put it in the first sale. Driving around today, I saw quite a few places with "free" piles out on their driveways.

My agent is on his own for the Open House on Friday since I will be outside selling stuff. Oh, I also need to go to the bank on Thursday to get cash for the sale! Need to put that on my list!

Just relaxing tonight. Soaked my feet for awhile. I have some cracks in my heels so I wanted to clean and soften them up some. Also removed some callouses. It is still early so I might even frost my hair tonight and/or bake some cookies!

Have a good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Barbie, I believe the crown was $250, but because I had a root canal, etc. I don't remember the exact breakdown of it without looking it up. The root canal was more.

Thanks, Karen!

I had so many tomatoes this year I actually stopped liking them!! And I have always been a world-champion tomato lover. I had 9 tomato plants, and must have got at least 300 pounds of tomatoes. I have been gardening off-and-on all of my life, and I have never seen anything like it.

My liking for tomatoes is gradually returning - I have a big chest freezer stuffed to the brim with frozen tomatoes, and gave away so many tomatoes that people I tried to give them to turned me down!!

Luckily, Joe likes tomatoes when thawed, and thawed frozen tomatoes make a delicious salsa.

I'm sure I have enough tomatoes in the freezer to last until next summer!

I think our weather was sunny just really didn't look out and only went out to take the garbage can out and that was after dark...
I looked at a lot of reels of recipes saved some but have no idea how to find them again  one was a simple one as I recall taking those tubes of cinnamon rolls cut into 4ths put those on bottom of dutch oven I think top with drained canned peaches or other fruit top with more cinnamon roll quarters think more peaches but now i can't remember the rest so guess I will have to figure out how to access the reel  when you look at too many they merge together  I fought taking a nap should have as I took an unscheduled one while "coloring" and woke up after the movie started unfortunately one I didn't remember that happens occasionally not like the one that is currently on this is like the 3rd time since Christmas movies started... truly don't get it
was going to make hot chocolate didn't now I wish that I had... the nap screwed it all up lol
glad you got the tooth fixed bet it feels better
I remember living out of coolers for the better part of a season went through lots of ice but the freezer didn't even work I used the fridge for stuff that we keep in the fridge that we don't have to normally or maybe it was on the table... finally got a new fridge was so grateful we do learn to adjust
Lyn you didn't pop back in hate when a post gets lost do that ever so often
I was really surprised the other day when I was at the store to actually see the grapefruit sections in the big jar... got one hopefully I shouldn't have gotten two... haven't found them for a year perhaps longer..
I wish Irmi that our gas was that low diesel is 4.67 and in some places 4.87 regular is over 4 mom's car uses premium on my trip that was higher than diesel
Sharon so glad things are going well with Buddy
I know that Carol hasn't posted today but I forgot to mention it on FB so hopefully you are lurking but it seems like to me and Karen if I'm wrong correct me but it seems like it took changing shots a few times before it got to where she is now... so perhaps they need to try a different med.... hopefully the new dr will be more accommodating and will look at other ideas
you all have a great day
