Cold Monday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Cold Monday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Mon Oct 23, 2023 7:35 am

Good Morning. Chilly 29°this morning. Coldest of the season so far, but only the beginning. Definitely frost out there too. First morning for that too. Rain coming in later today and most of the week. Temps heading into 50’s and low 60’s though.

We had a spectacular day yesterday with beautiful sunshine and blue skies. And Mother Nature responded in kind with her paint brush and set the trees ablaze with color. Pictures I am seeing from all over the state are spectacular. It was indeed a fitting end to fall. They will be coming down with the rain this week. This is one my neighbor took on their way to Petoskey' on Saturday.
Image
I posted some in General Talk as well.

So todsy is going to be a work outside and get on the leaves before the rain moves in this afternoon. I did do my neighbors front yard after my drive yesterday, but want to wash their tractor so I can put it away for Winter today. First priority foe me though, is attaching my gutter cleaning tool to my leaf blower and blowing out the gutters from the recent leaf falls. That won’t take long. Then I will get on my leaves that are down. From what I see this morning, probably one more sweep after this, should finish them for the most part. Then I will put my tractor away for the winter too. Probably next week.

Barbie, sorry you aren’t feeling well. Hopefully you will in a few days. No fun working when you aren’t up to snuff. I didn’t realize that Shirl had moved in with her daughter yet. Thought it was until December. Am hoping she gets back in and lets us know how things are going.

Interesting conversation about Bluetooth, phones and hearing aids. Mine is synced to the hearing loop in my church and will pick up Bluetooth with my landline phone which is also closed captioned as well. I mostly do texting with my cell phone. My aids have a button that I can push and it goes through the different settings. I use #1 for daily use, #2 isn’t really used for anything, #3 syncs to the hearing loop and phone and #4 mutes noises like my leaf blower, lawn tractor etc. so that helps protect my hearing when I’m around noisy machinery. Not totally 100%, but enough to protect ears.

So, guess I had better get a move on. Need to make hay while the sun shines as it isn’t going to be all day. Have a great day all. .

We had a glorious day of rain off and on yesterday! Got 0.92 in in my weather station! Good start. Now few days of foggy mornings turning to sun.
Anne, how did your area do with rain. It looked like most of the storm was up your way on the radar.
Lyn, it's so good to see you post! You haven't mentioned your pup?
I have to boost Chris out of bed today, as he has a Dr appt. Thats our main focus for the day. That and my Bowen treatment Wednesday are our only appointments so far. What a relief from last weeks daily various Drs!
I am so glad I have this adjustable bed. I'm having trouble with fluid retention since they raised my Hydralazine dose ( it's common with that drug), and we are trying to avoid a diuertic because they tend to set my electrolytes quickly awry and I get skipped heart beats(PVCs) and leg cramps and feelng spaced out. So, I have head raised slightly for my lungs and feet up slightly more for my legs. I actually slept better and longer than in a week. And dropped 2 lbs since yesterday! I also drank dandelion tea yesterday as it helps get rid of fluid. Always good to get better sleep. This adjustable bed has been so great. It was one of our family famous What did Mom and Dad buy at the state fair purchases nearly 20 years ago, then later added a Sleep Number mattress (also state fair) for each of the two twins beds. Was always a family joke with our boys, as each year we bought a larger, pricier item at the state fair: Bamix, beds, a pressure cooker, a electric skillet, etc, something each year.
My goal is to get more accomplished than last week. Not hard since I didn't get much done other than basics last week with all the Dr appointments!
Leaves began to change and fall a bit more over the weekend but I don't have as mch color yet as Sue sees.
Have a good week everyone. I too miss Shirl.

What beautiful colors, Sue! We are about to get cold here, too, and snow is predicted this week. I was also thinking Shirl wasn't moving until December, but glad she's done with that. Hopefully, she will return here. Sheila, my brother had chemo last Monday (3rd round) and he had a bit of sickness and fatigue for a few days. I had hoped he was done with that since 2nd round went well. Thanks for asking. Barbie, hope you are feeling better.

Text with my Kansas grandson this morning. After his dad's death, I was afraid he'd change his plans to go overseas. However, he's scheduled to go to Vietnam next month to begin tutoring! Should be quite an experience. Guess I should figure out what to do today.

good afternoon. Just came in from doing some yard work. Sprayed my yard for those little tiny small green weeds. I love my electric sprayer. It is only a gallon but love just charging the wand instead of all that pumping every so many feet and it super easy to clean.
Time for some lunch and a bit of paperwork. Got my CD's all organized for this month and have 2 more next month but their website lets me say where I want it to go and if I want to renew it, either all of it or just the initial deposit and take the interest. Or have it all deposited back to my funding account. I do have a couple of savings accounts as I need access to funds and the interest rate is good so will just leave those alone for now.
Sue those colors are outstanding. We have mostly evergreens here so we dont get the brilliant hillsides like you are having. Lyn good to see you posting as always. We miss you when you dont even post a "HI" hint hint. Anita snow??? really?? wow heck we are supposed to have some rain showers but somehow it usually misses me. Hope your brother feels better in a couple of days.
Ok off to get something to eat.

Sue I love the picture here and all of them in general talk. I actually saw a little fall color in Oklahoma. Nothing like that, though.

It rained lightly, then the last 1/2 hour or so fairly hard, today. I'm stopped for the day and will reach my park by, hopefully, 2 tomorrow. It also was somewhat windy but not that would get me off the road.

My dentists office called. Because my dentist is highly sought after they asked if I'd be ok seeing another one Wednesday and promised if I wanted him or she felt I needed him, that would be worked out. So I'll see this dentist that works for him Wednesday. I should have asked if I get a further discount lol.

I'm actually not positive if Shirl is moved, or completely moved. If I gave that impression, I'm sorry.

Been fighting mosquitos last week or so. Until about three days ago, they were focusing on my ankles and feet, but have switched to my head and face. I've been using the little Bite Away heat gun a couple of times a day, and the ones on my ankles and feet are drying up with one exception. Had a couple on my face, but last night several appeared on my face, neck, and scalp, but it is really hard to zap the one on the back of my neck and on my scalp because I cannot reach them. Ones on my face are easier, and starting to do better. I was up for a couple of hours in the middle of the night last night, and zapped each one at least twice. Just re-zapped them just now. The little zapper stings, but it really helps dry up the bites and keep them from getting large and swollen.

Got my flu shot today, and also managed to get a couple of rolls of quarters for laundry tomorrow. I am not going out any more today unless I wear my head net and put a jacket on, plus spraying my legs. Laundry can wait until tomorrow when it will be windy, hopefully.

I've been having cell phone problems. I can make and receive phone calls, but can't do anything that requires internet, such as searching for banks or something similar, without my mobile hotspot on. I kept thinking it was just a weak signal, but my phone showed two bars, which should have been enough. Anyway, I talked to Verizon technical support, and it turns out that Verizon is no longer updating the software in any phone older than i10, and mine is an i8. Also, Verizon has been upgrading towers to 5G, and my phone is 4G, so it is having problems getting data from 4G lines, since almost everything is now 5G.

Anyway, they are offering me a new i13 phone that is now 5G--no cost except I have to pay sales tax. No change in service and no other new costs at all. So, I will be stopping at the nearest Corporate Verizon store on my way past Jacksonville on Monday and pick up new phone. Biggest issue will be transferring all my emails and data.

Anyway, if any of you have Verizon and are having data problems, thought you might want to know.

Good afternoon, Velda, and everyone!

Velda, it just rained very lightly off-and-on most of the day, with the sun also peeking through now and again. Most of what I got was more mist than rain, but I'll take whatever we can get. Nothing near the amount you received.

Back up above 80 degrees this afternoon, with a cooling trend over the next few days.

I am ready for cold weather!!

Judy, see if the Verizon store people will transfer all your stuff from your old phone to the new one for you. That’s what I do when I get a new phone. Might take a little while if you’ve got a lot to transfer but has been worth it to me.

Sandi, I did that last time and am hoping they will do that for me last time. I have a ton of stuff that needs to be transferred, and I cannot afford to lose it.

Beautiful picture, Sue. We don't have anything like that around here.

It was very foggy this morning and didn't burn off until about 10:00. It's suppose to be foggy again in the morning. There was a big accident on I-55 this morning near New Orleans because of the fog. I think 2 people were killed and over 100 vehicles were involved. They were all day getting people off the interstate and probably still working on the wrecked cars. I have to bring my son to Baton Rouge on Wednesday and I sure hope it isn't foggy.

I went thru the 5G stuff with AT&T already. I never change phones until my phone absolutely won't work anymore. AT&T finally sent me a free phone because I kept ignoring them. My son already had a 5G phone because he goes thru phones faster than I do.

The mosquitoes are bad here too. The truck is passing every day spraying but it doesn't look like it's doing much good. As dry as it is I'm surprised the mosquitoes are bad.

Bath, I'm sure you will be glad to get your tooth taken care of.

I didn't know there are electric sprayers. I'll have to look for one. Mine are all pump. My neighbor has a 4-wheeler with a spray tank and I'm the one spraying the weeds on the corner with a 2 gallon pump sprayer.

woke up went to the bathroom thought I can sleep another 15 minutes before the alarm goes off heard the first hint snooze and woke up an hour+ later  gave mom her thyroid pill then fixed lunch breakfast whatever one calls it at that time of the day... heated up oatmeal for mom I fixed me a turkey sandwich as I wanted to get the turkey gone... also had a avocado that was just right... a weird mixture I know she didn't eat much of the oatmeal cause the avocado half filled her up and she had a bit of the turkey and a few bits of oatmeal plus we share a banana I give her about a couple of inches of one... and we finally had the bacon and french toast... if I didn't want to use up the bread it might have become corn fritters  haven't made them for years but did sound good... she doesn't eat eggs well which is too bad as it would be an ideal food for her soft and good protein although she will eat deviled eggs occasionally and used to enjoy quiche... Karen would you post your recipe for quiche? I'm sure she has a recipe somewhere not in the mood to really go through a bundle of recipe books...
I worked on the shrug I'm making part of me wants to tear it out and do something else but I think I will see what I think after I put on a couple more rows...
Glad you are getting closer Beth and have an appointment
Sorry Anita that your brothers last chemo wasn't that good... hoping he will feel better soon...
there was a movie on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries tonight that I didn't remember.. enjoyed it ... it's always good to see a different one not that this was new but like I didn't remember it... this one that is on is new last year and saw it at least a zillion times but it's still good... one of my favorite ones last year
we had rain today a little bit enough to wet the deck
the house fills chilly tonight even closed my window last night might even put flannel pj's on
you all have a great day

Felt a little better today but hung out in bed most of the day anyways. Finally got up and turned on golf. Still some tournaments in other countries. This one was in Japan.

My nose is stuffy and have had a headache. I have some Sudafed which I can take day or night and it doesn't make me sleepy or keep me awake at night. I used to buy so much of that Sudafed back in Minnesota because of my allergies, that I thought they were gonna come looking for my meth lab!!

Was in the upper 80's today and the wind died down this afternoon. Now I have all the windows open for the night. Will get up to 90 tomorrow but then stay in the 80's thru Saturday. Sunday will be only 77* which will really feel nice! Low to mid 50's at night. Fall is here! No colors here tho, other than blooming bushes and trees.

Sue, that photo is gorgeous! :o I will check out the other ones as well. Too bad those colors don't last very long before the leaves drop.

Better get to bed...

Shelia, quiche is basically your eggs (3-4) and cream (1/2 to 1 cup) depending on how much filling you put in. Then you add whatever seasonings you want to the eggs and cream. I add cheese to my eggs and save some for the top. Choose any seasoning you like. Bake the pie crust and let it cool. (I like to bake mine first altho you dont have to) I use a 9inch deep dish pie crust. You can also do crustless. I make sausage, mushroom, spinach and cheese. OR bacon, cheese, mushrooms etc Whatever I happen to have. Put it in the pie crust, pour the egg mixture over it and bake. Monterey chicken quiche, Asparagus and roasted potato, etc. Crustless quiche when I dont have a pie shell. The key ingredients in a crustless or pie crust quiche are eggs and heavy cream. I usually saute my onions, spinach, mushrooms, and meat choice IF I put meat in it at all. It is pretty much a blank slate, just dont put too much in or it will be very dense. Pour the egg mixture over your choices and bake at 350° for 35-40 minutes One of the easiest dishes I make. I can eat it for breakfust, lunch or dinner. I like that part. Quiche with a fruit salad, or any type of salad makes an excellent brunch type dish.

Martha this is the sprayer I bought. LOVE it as it isnt too heavy and NO PUMPING. Just charge the wand, fill the tank, add the weed killer and GO. Cleaning is easy too, I just rinse out the tank, fill with water, and push the button on the wand and let the clean water run thru it...wahoo easy peasy. I like I can just carry it over my shoulder like a purse and it doesnt weigh a ton LOL And the charge on the wand seems to last forever, I havent run out of power yet. Can also use it to fertilize, spray for bugs and spiders, and weed control. Yup I love it.

DANG it, KAREN!! You are really hard on my pocketbook!!  I had been thinking about getting some kind of sprayer for quite a while - just now put this thing in my Amazon cart. Just couldn't resist.

I actually love it when I can buy something "pre-tested". LOL!

Thanks Karen, I put it in my cart too. Now I have enough to get free shipping, just need to decide if I want some of the other things. I put things in my cart thinking I might want them and then decide maybe I don't. I need batteries for my Vivo Fit and I had to order them from Amazon last time. I'll probably make a trip to town to look for them and if I can't find them will complete my order.
