SUNDAY SUNDAY

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

SUNDAY SUNDAY

Good morning. Had a very fun weekend with Laura. We didnt really do anything exciting but just kicked around town and then yesterday we took a drive out east up the South Umpqua river towards Diamond Lake. Left Emma and Penny at home to amuse themselves. Stopped at a wayside at the Narrows and loved the sound of the rushing water and a couple of small waterfalls over the rocks. I love the woods. Then had a really nice later lunch in Glide. They also had a terrible fire the same time we did and the scars are definitely still very visible. LOTS of new constructed homes along the way where the fire tore thru. 2020 was the year we had fires everywhere in Oregon that displaced so many people. Thankfully this year was not as bad. We had some big fires but mostly on BLM land where it was harder to fight due to the terrain. So we had smoke from that and also the main road to the coast that is south of us (on the CA/OR border) was closed for a period of time because of fire. Really screwed up many people and commercial vehicles trying to get to the 101. We have had rain all week. Also morning fog so there was no viewing of the eclipse for us. Today is supposed to be 75 so that will be nice.

For some unknown reason I was wide awake a little before 4 but finally got up at 4:30 Took the dog out and it was 55 out so not really too chilly or damp out. The fog might roll in but we shall see. Have a pot of soup on the stove and maybe later can work in the yard a little bit more after it dries out a bit. I need to play catch up on my forums and will do that this morning. Time now for a second cup of coffee. Laura goes home this morning and wish our visit could have been longer but we have some fun sounding plans coming up in the new year.

Hi to Karen and Laura. I love you get to gtg so often.

I'm about to leave for work. Short final shift then a quick run over to let Ty out then head for the employee dinner. Tomorrow will be prepare to leave day, laundry, etc. And hopefully my new pair of glasses that were due the past few days arrive. Tuesday plans are to hit the road by late morning. Office opens at 10 now so after that I'll head over to get my propane filled at the employee rate. And if my tires don't get checked tomorrow, will do that, also.

Good afternoon! I declared a pajama day. Really need some sweats or something similar. Yesterday was so dark all afternoon but we did get some rain. Sun was out this morning while I watched a frustrating Seahawk game.

Karen, I'm also glad you and Laura gtg so often! BFF and I have gotten together but with other things going on away from our homes. Next up is her son receiving a new kidney Thursday. Sheila, I'm like you and get caught reading some of those ridiculous stories! Some may be made up, but I'm sure they happen somewhere to someone. People just have no regard for anyone else at times. Could have written stories about my daughter's ex-mother-in-law and mine! Imagine your mom is glad to be home. Martha, hope your son will get some relief!

Finally trimmed my begonia and fuchsia plants in the pot and preparing to plant bulbs before I take it out to the patio closet. Got my flu shot Friday and arm was surprised not to have a sore arm. Really haven't had the big difference I expected with the hearing aids - still using closed captioning, but I have been doing that for years.

Made it to state park in southern GA. Will be here for two nights and then to FLorida on Tuesday. Stopped on the way at a Blue Beacon and was shocked to see absolutely no line! Usually, it takes me an hour to slowly move up to get my 10 minute truck wash. Also stopped at Einstein bagels for a dozen cranberry bagels and at Walmart for a few things. So, now my freezer and refrigerator is really full again.

I want to make some more cherry jam, but cannot find the sour ones. I have a little over a pound of the sour ones, so I got some of the sweet ones and will mic them together as an experiment. But this time I am going to measure the sugar so I have a real recipe. Got the cherries thawing in a pan on the stove with a couple of cups of sugar to start. When they are thawed, I will grind them up with my immersion blender and add the certo. Making jam tonight is a good way to get rid of the two packages of cherries from my freezer to free up some room. This means I am back to eating whatever takes up the most room first!!! Will be having bagels for breakfast for a few days, also.

Tomorrow, I am going to relax and work on my sand collection project. I need to transfer sand samples from old jars to new ones and figure out how to hang spice rack to display the finished bottles. The samples vary in color, texture, and appearance, so I also need to get some labels made for each one. Will be at a Staples later this week for that.

Oh, i weighed myself for the last couple of mornings, and I have lost about 4 pounds this fall. Did not try to lose weight, but have not been hungry or eating a lot. My 25 years of IBS after my gallbladder surgery has caused me to eat more slowly and much smaller meals, plus, I keep forgetting to eat some days until very late. Got to eat better and spread my meals out instead of getting most of my daily calories in the evening. Anyway, I suspected I had lost a bit because some of my pants are falling off, and the scales confirmed it!!

Work was surprisingly very slow today! So we didn't need our manager to come in to relieve us for our lunches.

I am SO sad to hear that Susanne Somers passed away this morning! She would have turned 77 tomorrow. I have read most of her books and learned about bio-identical hormone treatment from one of her books, which I had a treatment a couple years ago, and was very impressed by the results. She had an amazing life, and a love affair with her husband that fairly tales are made of. She has lived here in Palm Springs for many years.

I have the next 2 days off so need to finish cleaning up the house, doing laundry, and working on a couple little projects.

It was hot today and will be over 100* for the next week. Lows will still be decent at night tho.

Have a good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I did very little today. I can spend a lot of time on the computer deleting emails and on Facebook. My ex SIL called to check on me and invite me for Thanksgiving. I have had two invitations but I'm not driving 100 miles for dinner. I could go in the motorhome and spend the night but not that interested. I was lucky and had two great mother-in-laws. I'm sorry that I didn't keep up with my first husband's mother after I remarried. I moved away and she moved to California.

I don't remember when you are suppose to plant bulbs. I had planted daffodils around the big oak tree and they only came up two years. I think the squirrels dug them up.

Judy, cranberry bagels sound good. I seldom ever eat bagels but have bought blueberry ones a few times. I wish I could lose a few pounds. I have 5 that keep going up and down. They keep finding me.

Beth, hope your glasses show up and you get everything ready to leave.

Sheila, I never thought about us voting on Saturday. It was State and Parish offices. When it is National offices we vote with everyone else. I am glad the Lieutenant Governor was reelected. He took on tourism and the state parks and has really made some improvements to the state parks.

Martha, I have lost almost 40 pounds since I started on the road. Part of the reason was my level of activity increased, and the other reason was that I started trying to better control my irritable bowel syndrome by learning to throw food away. In other words, if I bought a McDonald's breakfast sandwich, I usually ate only 2/3 of it because I would start to get stomach rumblings. (I cannot eat fries or any extras at all if I order a sandwich. Restaurants are still a problem because they give you too much food and extras.)

I also learned over time to eat smaller meals and eat all day. For example, I ate breakfast around noon or later because morning was a time when my system would go haywire. Then for dinner, if I wanted to eat a small piece of steak, a baked potato, and a salad, I would eat the potato around 4 pm, the steak about 6 pm, and the salad around 8, with a cookie and maybe a glass of milk before bed. Spreading the meal out and eating very slowly meant I was never really hungry, and overall, I think I ended up eating less food. I ate ice cream and junk food, but just not much of it. I think the result of all of this was I just do not get as hungry as I used to before my surgery.

I found out only about a year ago that my ISB was likely caused from losing my gallbladder in the mid 90s, and I now take one Welchol pill every couple of days, per my new gastroenterologist. It's actually an anti-cholesterol prescription drug and normally a person would take 6 per day, but one every other day does the trick for me!! The FDA is doing some research on this use of the drug to control ISM for people who have lost their gallbladder, which causes bile to be constantly irritating the small bowel. And I also found out that by spreading my meals out, I was actually putting food into my system to reduce the irritation, but the pills are working a lot better!!

mom is glad to be home although I think she has forgotten some of her usual habits... while here she normally would turn on the hall light when going to the restroom at brothers house they have some pretty good night lights while on chat she said she needed to get a pain pill but hasn't not sure she remembers where they are if she doesn't get it now I will get one for her... guess she was just up to lock the door

Judy, my sister had gallbladder surgery some years ago and she takes Welchol sometimes. She was having a constant problem with diarrhea and the Welchol helped her a lot. I'm lucky that I seldom have stomach problems. About the only thing that bothers me is eating something with tomato sauce too late. If I'm going to eat pizza I eat it for lunch.
