Rainy Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Rainy Saturday

Postby Othersharon » Sat Oct 14, 2023 10:23 am

Good morning all! The rain arrived sometime during the night and according to the forecast it’ll be raining all day. Talk about a gloomy day! And temps only in the 40’s! I took Buddy to the trainer early this morning for his two week camp and now I’m kinda at loose ends! Seems like my life has been revolving around him and trying to get him civilized! He didn’t seem the least bit unhappy that I was leaving him. Though I suppose that was a good thing! My hope is that he comes home and listens better and I’m not constantly telling him no. I’m aware that I’ll have to reinforce the training all the time. I need to go into town to Walmart for a couple of things but since this is homecoming weekend I don’t want to go anywhere near town! The traffic is going to be insane! I have plenty to keep me busy here at home! One good thing about the rain is that it’s cleaned all the dust off my car from the dirt road where we usually go for our walks! When I get a good day I need to get the inside of it vacuumed and get it ready for winter! I’ve been pretty lax about it and it shows! Funny how the mindset now is getting things ready for winter! I don’t think we’ll see the eclipse today! Imagine some of you will be able to experience it. Think it’s time to throw some dinner in the crockpot and start getting busy. I went back to bed for a nap since I’ve been up since about 4:30 so at least took the edge off of being sleepy! And seeing that it was close to 1 when I finally fell asleep last night it was a very short night! Have a great day today and stay safe!

Good afternoon Sharon and all!

Sharon, I hope you'll be happy with the results from the training Buddy will be getting for the next two weeks. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

It's been wonderfully pleasant here in central FL but tomorrow afternoon we have a cold front coming into the area and we'll wake up in the low 50's Monday. I'm not happy! Yesterday when I walked it was 77. Needless to say, I'll be wearing lots of layers and look like the Pillsbury Dough Boy.

Folks are slowly returning to our resort and when we're on the interstate, we see lots of RV's heading south. Some wait until after Thanksgiving to come down and a few wait until after Christmas. When my parents were still here, we also did the latter. My sister that lost her hubby 3 years ago to cancer & 4 friends will be here week after next for a visit. Steve will cook baby back ribs & chicken on his Big Green Egg and I'll make several sides and a dessert. This will be the first time they will see the addition of our patio around the pergola and the addition of our furniture. I call that area my Happy Place.

Good afternoon!

Went to work this morning forgetting about the eclipse. Someone told me about it at work and the WM greeter guy had a pair of the special glasses he was letting people use to see it. I went out twice to check it out. Pretty cool even tho it wasn't a full eclipse here.

Wasn't super busy at work but steady. I made really good tips tho. But my back was really sore by the time I left at 2pm. Did a little shopping and came home and am now resting on my bed. Need to get out my heating pad.

Probably gonna be a busy day tomorrow but my manager is coming in for awhile around noon so we can take our lunches.

Nothing else happening here. Still hot (upper 90's) during the day but nice and cool at night. Nice to have the windows open at night and get some fresh air and give the AC a break.

Sharon, I hope they train you some to know how to keep Buddy's training going after he gets home.

Irmi, we have the same thing with the snowbirds here. A group of them comes down by the end of October, then we get another big group of them just after the holidays. Some of the early ones just fly back home for the holidays with family. Traffic here is picking up now too and more business at work. One of my snowbird neighbors came in for a haircut today. They got here a few days ago. With the nice weather, there are more people out walking in the mornings now too. (I should be one of them! )

Have a good evening!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

We could see the eclipse here but I didn't have any glasses. I turned the weather channel on to see what they were showing. After the eclipse was over they were talking about watching it with welding glasses. I wish they had mentioned that sooner because I bet there is a pair of welding glasses on the welding machine in he barn.

Went to vote and went to the post office. I finally cut the rose bushes around the phone box so I can call the phone company to come see why my house phone isn't working.

Irmi, I don't know how the cold front is missing here but they are predicting 70's and 80's here for the next 10 days and no rain. We sure need some rain.

I thought there would be election results on TV but they can't pre-empt the football.

that is unusual to vote on Saturday... do they get more voting than on weekdays?
Sharon hope that they training Buddy is getting will be successful and that they have owner training as well... I think I would have a hard time in knowing how to train a dog hopefully when I get another one he will be well trained
I wasted my day... wasn't hard to get back to my old habits... hang out on the bed till late afternoon... but I did get scriptures read talked with #3 watered plants fixed supper didn't like it so I tossed what was left over out... think the meat tasted old... not sure why it hadn't been in the freezer that long...
tried to watch my granddaughter's recital over zoom but no sound not sure why looked at everything I could and all looked well...she plays the flute...
I can't even think of anything to write about ... I did notice the other day when I was driving north that there were a lot of rigs headed south... it's that time of the year...
you all have a great day
