Morning from the chilly 45th. Was 51° when I got up at 6 a.m., but supposed to be around d 85 today. Possible isolated shower, but looking more like early morning hours of tomorrow.

Molly got a really thorough checkup at the new vet. She also determined that her eye issue is Uveitis. It’s an inflammation of the dark tissues of the eye. I’ll let you look it up if you want to know what that involves. So she changed to eye drops my old vet had prescribed and put her on Neo Poly/Dox, one that is a corticosteroid. That will help with the inflammation, pain and light sensitivity she has. Cause not determined as yet and sometimes never is. But they did bloodwork, radiology on entire body to check out any possible causes in her body. So she got the works. So did my pocketbook But it’s what I wanted. X-Ray also showed limited movement in her left shoulder and inflammation in left elbow which is cause of limp. Some of which I already I knew. We will address that issue as well. Have to go back today for eye pressure check etc. I like this vet. Will have to go for periodic eye pressure checks for a bit here, but it’s just 5 miles up the road. We were there over 2 hours yesterday.

So otber than running the vac in the morning, didn’t do anything else yesterday. Am going shopping this morning since her appt. Isn’t till mid afternoon. Farmers market day, so might swing by there. Not as many vendors as Saturday.

Speaking of vacuming. I sent that Lost Roomba notice to my cousin’s wife yesterday, who like everybody else, got a good laugh and promptly sent it to her grandson and fiancé who have one. Wrote me back a bit later and said that grandson and fiancé had to go looking for theirs. It was hiding under the bed

Good morning all. There’s defiantly a taste of fall in the air here. I really need to get some more work done on the outside just to keep up with the season! Somehow I don’t think it’ll happen. I can’t stop the weather and before long the leaves will be flying. Just glad I finally finished giving Lola a much needed cleaning. A friend turned me on to some magic cleaner and considering how bad it was it did a great job. Now to use the spray Sandi recommended and she’ll shine! For sure I need to get the cover on so I’m nor dealing with the same situation all over again next spring. I’m trying to figure out some way to keep Buddy from the front of the rv when I’m driving but still be able to get to the back easily. At least until I can get him civilized and listening to me. He does pretty well some of the time but ignores me when he wants to do what he wants. I did get some info from the trainer I had contacted and she said she’d be in contact but still haven’t heard back so I need to call her again. Oh, and I finally did it and cut the cable the other day. Saving about a $100 month to just have internet and no cable or landline. I did stop by Best Buy an got a Roku device but haven’t really looked at it. Need to be in the right mood to mess with new technology! And I’m not there yet! Update on GD is that surgery on her neck today and any other places on her back side to basically be done with surgeries for now. She is eating jello and pudding and she actually used her walker a few times yesterday. She’s pretty much out of the heavy sedation and of course dealing with the pain now so she’s been super emotional. Sounding like the staff is really on top of it all. So just small steps forward until she can be transferred to the rehab closer to home to continue her recovery to learn how to function in her new norm. It’s not going to be easy but she has a huge support system. So otherwise not much else happening which is okay with me! I’ve had enough excitement for now! Need to get moving and get out and mow before the next rainstorm hits. And of course a walk with Buddy. Chiropractor late this afternoon so really need to get some things done before that much needed appointment! Have a great day and enjoy. Sue, that sounds like my body. Your 51 degree temperture sure sounds good. Yesterday the high was 102. It was still 100 when I left at 5:00 to go mow in Maurice. Got the mowing done and sprayed 2 gallons of weed killer. At least there was a good breeze but it just blew the dust all over me. Yesterday was a 2 shower and shampoo day. Found out that the air conditioner in the truck is not working. I looked up the Dodge place online to get the phone number and it has changed hands. I couldn't get an appointment until the 17th. I have alway been able to call and bring it in the next day. When we can find a good vet I think our pets get better care than we do but it's not cheap.

I got the paperwork on my dermatologist visit from my supplement insurance and they billed $589 to freeze two places on my face. I only saw a PA, not the doctor. The insurance paid them $200, don't know what medicare paid.

Sharon, my motorhome is under a roof but it still gets dirty. I think it's like my storm doors. When it's really humid they get wet and the wind blows dirt on them. I run the air conditioner in the motorhome on 90 in the summer to keep the mud daubers out of the air conditioner. That's the solution the repair shops recommend. They said run the fan but if I run the ac it will cut off and on and hopefully keep the humidity down. My next trip is not until Sept 11. I have to wash it before that because I'm going to an owners club rally. Don't want to show up with a dirty RV. I found a short strap with a snap on one end that I put thru the seatbelt on the passenger seat to keep Sugar in the seat. That works until she decides to get down and gets tangled up. I also have a leash tied under the sofa that lets her move around but can only get to the back of the front seats.

This morning there were dark clouds that looked like it could rain but it never did. Wishful thinking on my part. Don't know what I'll do today. I need to pick up some pills for Sugar either today or tomorrow and cat food for the inside cats.

Good morning. I am happy to hear that your granddaughter continues to improve, although she still has a long road ahead. I send you both my best.

Congratulations on cutting the cord, and on your new Roku!! I have had Roku for about ten years now (cut the cable then, too), and can still truthfully say that I love it.

Although the programming you might find via your Roku will be a bit different than what you were used to from cable, I predict that you will soon be in the Roku groove and will be finding more programming, more to your liking, than you have ever had before.

Once you get Roku up and running, remember this: YouTube (the free version!) is your friend.

YouTube is not just cute dog and cat videos - YouTube has "channels" for every - and all - interests under the sun.

I am worn out, and headed to the shower after I write this. I had to get up at 6:30 am this morning to make it to the medical clinic by 8:00 am. Plus, I was up most of the night, so am really tired now. My parathyroid numbers were high on a blood test this spring, and the PA who works with my urologist believes that may have caused my kidney stones in the past. Frankly, while I currently have a stable kidney stone, I have not passed any or had any block anything in the past three years, but the parathyroid can cause a lot of things other than kidney stones, so I agreed to go through with the test today. It involved taking two radioactive capsules and then sitting in my RV in the parking lot until noon. I went back to the radiology department and they injected me with more radioactive stuff and gave me a cat scan combined with a parathyroid scan of some sort. The hard part was that I had to lay perfectly still for 27 minutes while this screen went around me neck. Very hard to do.

Then home to campground and did two loads of laundry, plus put it all away, then made cookie dough to roll out and bake tomorrow. Will frost them and take to kids tomorrow. Also, checked oil and radiator fluid and added a bit to each one. The last item is getting harder for me because the hood of this vehicle is really, really heavy, and I am so short I have to stand on a stool to get it open. And left shoulder is always sore, and all this lifting does not help. Neck is also stiff from holding still for so long.

It was only 82 today which is nowhere as hot as some of you ladies are experiencing, but it rained yesterday and everything is damp and muggy, so I was very uncomfortable. Hence, my shower as soon as I can get in there, and then to a very early bed.

Liked Barbie's idea of a Roomba romance!!

I think the car battery saga is over. Car wouldn't start yesterday after I'd been to dealer Monday. Already had plans to go to Costco and do a WalMart pick up with Monica so didn't call dealer until afternoon. Really wanted it towed! They sent their own person out this morning to jump it and again it didn't happen easily. Got it started, I came in to get my purse, guy left and went out to find car had died and wouldn't start! Phone call to get him back and then time at the dealer of course. Finally, a new, bigger battery! Subaru discovered the battery they were using wasn't big enough for all the computer 'stuff' but didn't do a recall which I think they should be in trouble for!

My brother has been diagnosed with pneumonia and cancer. He's going for a second opinion on the cancer because Port Angeles doctors don't have the best reputation. From what he has told me, I'm afraid another opinion won't change things. Trying not to worry until we find out how bad it is, but this is sounding similar to what I went through with Steven.

Anita, saw the comment you had made the other day about your battery situation and then today. First thing I thought of was what I went through with my 2016 Outback about 11 months after I got the car. Long and short after it let me down a couple of times the dealer admitted that the battery wasn’t large enough for the things that still run even after the car is turned off. So they put in a stronger battery and I never had the problem again. I asked about the battery in this new car I got last June and was assured the battery would be strong enough to handle the load. So far so good but I still remain skeptical and hope the company learned from their mistake and not to go cheap. Ends up costing them more in the end I would imagine. But at least I got past the one year mark. Hoping it all works out for you.

after scriptures I made myself not pick up the crochet hook and got dressed and went to the store... thought it was going to be a grand reopening after remodel not even any signs up although some of the prices were really good.... like watermelon for 3.00 the other day it was twice that and more like almost 7.00 but still have a personal size one that needs to be cut... so resisted the temptation the problem is unless it's a week sale price when I want it on Monday it will be more but think that the personal size one will be big enough hopefully didn't even get meat and it was over 100 need to go over the receipt and see what I bought that was so expensive... the cheese for that salad that I want to make was one of the higher price items it was creamy .... not mozzarella and it also has a English cucumber in it and basil and mint it still sounds good
my friend texted me the other day asking out of the blue what kind of yeast I use I replied back then she messenger me about something so I asked out of curiosity why were you wondering about yeast she was wondering cause she wanted to make a start following my recipe... which totally had me confused so finally looked into the recipe book she was referring to and there was a recipe with my name attached to it telling how to make start from scratch...so I called her yesterday told her I finally looked and don't know why it had my name on that recipe (it was family gathered recipes) as I don't know how to make start from scratch except for my sour dough scones and that is a different type of start ... we had a good laugh and it will remain a mystery .... the start I have has been kept alive for a great many years...

was going to make burrito's with the left over meat from the other day but the tortilla's were to small so ended up being quesadillas that worked

Anita, I am so sorry to hear about your brother. I hope it isn't as bad as you are thinking. A second opinion is always good. My mom was diagnosed once with pancreatic cancer (they said there was a grapefruit sized tumor on her pancreas! ) and we all were so upset! It was right before Christmas and of course my mom was scared and devastated. My intuition told me to get a second option tho, which we did just after New Years and it turned out she just had pancreatitis, and an antibiotic took care of it. That doctor said she didn't find any tumor and that her pancreas was just a little swollen! That was an incredible relief! I wrote a scathing letter to the hospital about the huge mistake the cancer specialists (two of them) had made, and the huge emotional toll it took on all of us!
I hope the second opinion is better than the first for your brother.

Judy, I hope your test results come out good! What kind of cookies are you making?

Needed to make a quick run to WM today. Stopped for gas first. Almost $5 per gallon again. Should have gotten a car wash since my Jeep is filthy from all the dust! The few rain drops we got after the Haboob just made not-so-pretty little designs all over it!

Got a call for a haircut this morning here in the park so I went over to do that.

Was very windy earlier tonight. The remnants of a tropical storm is coming up from Baja California which will bring some rain to the coast and mountains to the west of us, but none here expected. Just lower temps and higher humidity.

I'm with you, Sheila.

I went to the store on Monday, and the bill pretty much made me gasp - $150.00 for a whole bunch of nothing. No sweets, no sodas, no candy, no packaged/processed foods, no pastry, no bread, no fresh fruits or veggies.

A couple of packages of chuck roast meat for my Joe. The chuck roast was $4.10/pound. A pound of Iams dog food in the 15-pound bag is $2.53/pound. I make my own dog food - have done so for many years. I usually alternate beef with chicken as a protein source. A meal for Joe is about 1/3 cooked rice, 1/3 a mix of my organic garden vegetables - well cooked, then cooled (along with a few other veggies and fruits that I can't easily grow), about 1/3 fresh (raw) beef or 1/3 cooked chicken as a protein source.

During the height of the pandemic I was feeding dry dog kibble for a time, because I could not easily get beef and chicken. I regret doing this. Joe is having health problems that are likely related to the dog food I was feeding (Iams). Kibble generally has a twenty-year shelf life. It can last so long because it is laced with preservatives. Ok, stopping now.

Anyway, the dog food I make is a LOT healthier than the baked round balls that come in a colorfully and expensively printed bag. I guesstimate that making my own dog food costs me around $2.00 - $2.50 a pound.

The way grocery prices are jumping up every time I go to the store are getting scary. Six months ago I paid $.73 per 12-ounce can for evaporated milk (which I like in my coffee). Yesterday I paid $1.38 per can for the same 12-ounce can.

I see everything jumping up in price across the board, the prices of many items doubling. I don't know how folks on limited/fixed incomes can continue to manage. I am very thankful to have the space to grow a veggie garden. Although there are a LOT of things I can't grow, every little bit helps. I love tomatoes (they are about one of my favorite fruits. Or veggie. LOL, I forget what they are).

Just regular tomatoes at the store (not organic like I grow) are around $2.50/pound. If I were buying tomatoes at the moment, I would need to buy them one-at-a-time because they are so expensive. I am blessed, and extremely thankful - I have had a total and magnificent abundance of tomatoes this year - my freezer is full up of this year's frozen tomatoes, and I have been giving tomatoes away to my friends and neighbors.

A friend said that I could sell them to the local health food store, but I actually prefer to give them to friends and neighbors. It is a way for me to "give back" in the Great Cosmic-Wozmic scheme of things.

I understand that food prices are even worse in other countries than they are here. One wonders where it will all end.
