Friday, August 4th

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday, August 4th

Good Morning from the sunny 45th. Looking to be a nice day today with high’s in the 70’s after yesterday’s mid to upper 80’s. Going to be busy around here too. Guys are coming to work on the rotted beam on my porch and I am going to help a neighbor move a section of dock from another neighbors yard over to hers. That shouldn’t take long. Then I might start repairing some cracks in my cement sidewalk since no rain in forecast.

Karen, I was reading an article on common backyard plants that are poisonous and we don’t even know it. Maybe those deer are doing you a favor, chomping on your Hydrangea, Amazes me they don’t get sick.

Hydrangea

If you accidentally ingest a hydrangea, which is a common plant you’ll find in your backyard, you’ll experience skin irritation, upset stomach, convulsions, and coma. The most toxic part of the plant is the flower buds. It’s even toxic to the skin, and if touched, may cause rash or irritation. The poison comes from cyanogenic glycoside. If your pet cat happens to ingest a hydrangea, it’ll experience nausea, diarrhea, depression, breathing difficulties, and seizures.

There are a lot of others too. Daffodils and Easter Lly are another. Keep the Easter Lily away from cats especially.

Carol, that’s beautiful work you are doing. Certainly keeps you busy. Might be something I might want to try.

Dogs and I did take a ride to Mackinac yesterday. Took the leisurely route up on the side roads. Was kind of warm up there and Thry didn’t seem to enjoy it as much. But they did go wading in the water, Too hot in the sun. Quite a few people around too. But it was nice to get away for the day.

Better get a move on here, before time gets away from me. Have a nice day all.

Sue apparently it doesnt bother the deer because they were back!!!!! I did order some repellent but probably wont use much this year but will give it a try. I must be on their route because my cameras go off about 1-2 am at night. I know rhododendrons and azaleas are also poisonous. I have a couple of azaleas and 1 rhody in my front yard. I know my dog would never eat any plants LOL heck I can barely get her to eat her food on a consistent basis and anything I give her requires lots os smelling and walking away. She likes those mini milk bone treats and Paul Newman jerky but any other jerky or treats....nope. Thank goodness the deer dont come in my back yard, at least not yet.

I was going to put a second coat of stain on my deck........nope. The paint experts said only one coat otherwise it will just bead up and then flake off. Well who knew??? So will just finish staining the deck at the side, and the stairs. Then touch up around the edges if needed. They said I could probably put another coat on next year or the year after depending. So that job is done LOL My deck is under cover so we shall see how it hold up. Will take the extra 2 cans back to Lowe's. Need to order a few groceries so will do that in a few then go pick them up, take the stain back, go to the bank. Garbage day today so got all my boxes broken down (no recycling here, crazy) and the garbage out to the curb. Garbage, water and sewer is included in my lot rent here. Need to harvest more squash, lordy that stuff grows quickly. Also have more tomatoes coming, good crop this year finally.

Better get some breakfast and a shower then can head to town when my pick up order is ready.

Cats are notorious for munching on plants. That is why I don't have any in my house. So many kinds are toxic.
Karen, maybe you should let the deer eat your flowers, otherwise they might just start in on your tomatoes instead!

Still no word about the potential buyer. I guess we just move on and see what happens. I am used the the roller coaster ride of selling a place. My agent is having an open house here tomorrow and Sunday from 2-4. Being there aren't a lot of people here in the park and it is summer so no snowbirds down here, I doubt there will be anyone showing up but am glad my agent is trying it anyways.

I need to get this place picked up a little and blow off the deck and furniture outside. Had high winds again last night so that just adds more dust, etc.

Have a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Good luck with the open house, Barbie! You never know when a buyer might show up.

Hope one shows up for you!

I used a lot of deer urine spray when I had the house in Port Angeles! Tulips and tomatoes were the first and last straws!

Carol, your kit looks fun! I'd be tempted but don't need any more projects. :) Barbie, since you had the house for sale before, I'm surprised at all you have been doing now. Hopefully, there will be a buyer this weekend! I have recycling gathering in my dining area - have to take it to the local landfill. Waiting for cooler weather because it goes in various bins.

Went to get the Atlas out of my car to plan my upcoming getaway. Had trouble opening the hatchback to put reusable grocery containers in. Car doing the same thing it did Monday when I tried to start it! Of course, it's Friday not that I need to go anywhere. Will either just buy a new battery because Subaru hasn't really helped or get it jumped and take it to them Monday. Grrr.

Smoke has rolled in from somewhere.

Sorry I haven't posted much lately. I am settled in a new, full-hookup, handicap spot in a state park not too far from my son's house. I stopped there after getting my bridge yesterday, but hung around too long and ended up setting up in the dark. Spot is very nice, but is tricky to get into. One big problem the state park made here when they installed these new full hookup sites is they added ditches between sites, so if you miss your back-in driveway in the dark--good luck!! I had to get out with my flashlight several times to check my location as I knew about the ditches.

Anyway, I met the 15-year-old Spanish exchange student at my son's house. My 16-year-old grandson spent a month at his house in Seville, Spain, and now he is at my son's house for a month. I think both boys are really stressed out with too much togetherness and having to be in a strange place with a strange family. My son is now working in an office every day and my DIL is working in her office two-three days per week. Both have worked at home for the last 15 years, so it is hard for them, but my grandson has a car and driver's license, and my son's house backs up to a golf course, and the family has a social membership at the country club, which means they have full access to a pool and tennis courts. Can ride bikes there if grandson does not drive them. He is not allowed to drive other than local places like to take his sisters to school and pick them up after sports things, and not allowed to drive anyone other than family. But he is allowed to take foreign student, somehow. Boy will be headed back in a couple of weeks, and he will no doubt be glad to get home because his time schedule has really been messed up. His family wakes at 9 am, and takes a 3-6 pm siesta every day. They eat dinner at 10 pm and kids run around city of Seville until 2 am!! It has been a cultural experience for everyone in both families, to say the least!!

Anyway, to catch you all up, I now have reliable hot water and a water pump to deliver it. Plus, radiator has not leaked lately. Yea! However, there seems to be a problem with awning, except I need my son to get on a tall ladder to check the bracket on my RV. I discovered that apparently I have one of the last RVs made with a manual awning and parts are not easily available. Yuck.

I worked in the food service part of the office today. I'm guessing I made between 30 and 40 pizzas and they tell me it wasn't a really busy shift. I guess because it wasn't steady, so the were down times. But when it was busy, it was busy lol The shift went very fast.

I've been really looking forward to this weekend and the family reunion I was planning to attend Sunday. I made sure before coming here that I'd get Sunday off. Well, Sunday looks like thunderstorms here and there and all in between and north to my sister's so they'll have them to deal with even further then me. My sister and cousin will talk in the morning and decide if we're cancelling. It's mainly outside and a long drive for all of us, so chances are we won't be going. I've already bought slaw mix so I'll go ahead and make the cole slaw and eat it all week lol

I have a pick up order for both Walmart and Sam's Club tomorrow. Pretty small orders. I also hope to do laundry between rain drops lol

Judy, I always plan to arrive in daylight hours. I try to never need to turn my headlights on in the rig lol. I don't even go out much in my car at night anymore, but that's doable. I'm glad it appears your RV problems are mostly solved. I just saw a new, smaller travel trailer with a manual awning, so there must be some still out there. On my last roof I lost my awning (manual one) and never replaced it because it was a pain and is never leave it out overnight it when not home, etc. So I love that my current rig came with one with a button, because I still only have it out when I'm home and weather is cooperating. And never overnight.

Ok, time for bed. I'm exhausted. I haven't even played all my word games today. Oh well

when we went to Q the first season maybe or maybe it was the first time in the spot that you all know me in... Larry put baffles on it think that is what it's called then had them staked out really tight and it didn't go anywhere till we had a really bad wind (think in Blythe it was a tornado) did damage to the big tent ect it flew up and something tore off hit the pickup truck rear window broke it and we got a new awning... I think I still have the baffles in the 5fh wheel but I'd so much prefer pushing a button so that it could be taken in when wise to do so...
the day was mostly normal went to the store and got the meat for the dish I was fixing.... and a bunch of other stuff... the store is remodeling and it's so hard to find anything... there is a fridge unit with mostly Mexican type cheeses and salsa's in it it now has other stuff!!! it took forever to find the other stuff I wanted mango/peach salsa and that cheese that I can neither pronounce nor spell ended up asking one of the managers where to find it.. it will become easier to find stuff once we get used to it I guess.... saw a friend she couldn't find the frozen fruit finally found it  they have a bunch of new coolers out for the Home Fresh or whatever it's called which I'm surprised as they have never had much of a supply of it ...
the dish was a chicken burrito bowl was suppose to be made in a slow cooker but I didn't have one so did it on top of the stove it was actually pretty good... other than the rice didn't cook it was brown rice so I knew it would take longer but still had a crunch an hour later... I might post it in the recipes in a few days
my nephew and his family came over for supper
you all have a great night

Beth, I also never drive at night, but we were watching my grandson's slides from Spain, and it got dark here faster than it did in Michigan, so I thought I had more time. (Just checked and was 27 minutes later in Traverse City.) Then it took time for them to take me back to where I had parked my rig, and drive half an hour to the campground. Not my favorite thing to do.

They are driving to Washington DC tomorrow morning (Saturday) for four quick days, and next weekend will be at Lake Erie, so not much time to visit. I will stop by to see everyone on Wednesday, but only to have my son check out my awning latch using his ladder. Won't even stay for dinner. Then on the following weekend, I will be in Ontario. My son has a new job with an impressive title, but not as much free time as he did when he was working at home.
