Good Morning. Cloudy, 56°. Supposed to be 80 today and warming up toward 90 as the week goes on. Might have to haul the portable AC out for first time this year.

Didn’t get anything accomplished outside yesterday other than watering flowers. Watered mine and took water out to the entrance flowerbed, keeping an eye on the sky as clouds were building up and looking like maybe rain/storm forming up. . So watered the flowers (under the roof, they don’t get rained on) and came home. Put tractor and stuff back in garage and was thinking I might get that RiverStone where I wanted it, but heard a rumble of Thunder. So much for that idea. Typical rumbly summer thunderstorm rolled through and left quarter of an inch of rain behind. So my flowers got a good watering yesterday No statue painting either.

Heading to town this morning. Car wash to use the big vacuum inside my truck, bit of grocery shopping and then home. Want to trace and cut out patterns for the Darlings fall outfits out front before it gets too hot in the garage this week. Maybe paint in the statue too. Might get some pop up s in afternoon, so will see what happens.

Shirl, if I were out your way and saw an old lady with pink polka dot socks and a purple cane, thumbing for a ride, I would gladly pick you up Karen, every time you mention Henry, I keep forgetting to mention that I have an automatic kitchen floor cleaner here. Her name is Piper. She doesn’t need programming g, just automatically goes over my kitchen floor every day. Does a great job of picking up crumbs etc. Beth, hope everything falls into place so you can get on the road and off to your next adventure.

I’m hitting the road here too shortly, soon as I get washed up, change out of my Jammie’s and get with it.

Good Monday morning all. Looks like it’s going to be a warm day here today too. And will get warmer as the week goes by. Air quality may ratchet up about mid week depending on the wind directions. I slept in this morning so already running late. Not that I have any big plans for the day. Need to get some more yard work done and need to get out in the next little bit for a walk with Buddy before it heats up. Shirl, big decision to quit driving. Beth, sure hope you can get things settled on your casita so you can pull out on Wednesday. Judy, hope you can manage to get things repaired on your rig too. I’ve been enjoying hearing about everyone’s gardens. I’ve been enjoying watching my neighbor’s garden. They bought the lot next to them, tore the house out an now it looks like a nice park. Their garden has really taken off after the rain we’ve had. About the only way I want to have a garden! Otherwise it’s the same thing here just a different day! I really need to get moving and get my day going. Hope you all hav a good day.

Morning All, weather here the same. I have been having trouble getting to sleep and staying as
Eep. Checked the side effects of inhaler and yup a side effect. Blurred vision also a problem which my wonky eyes does not need. Will muddle through and pray for better weather. I spend time trying to learn things. Salt, baking soda and Dawn does not clean the bottom of my fry pan. I microwave 1 ear of corn and recently tried a frozen ear right out of the freezer. That works too. Sue thanks for the offer of a ride I’ll watch for you. Lol I try to limit laundry to one load a day so I don’t add moisture to the air so towel today. Was making tuna pasta salad yesterday. Opened two cans of pineapple chunks instead of tuna. Really need to slow down. Think Inwill like pineapple in Greek yogurt. Lol. Be safe

Well, my energizer bunny is getting dragged out of hiding this morning. My new real estate agent texted me last night saying he will be here today at 3 to look at the house and chat with me about a plan! So I have 6 hours to get this place look super nice! Not feeling the energy yet but I am dressed, have my 70's music playing and will grab something to eat and have an energy drink and hope for the best!

Nothing much happened yesterday. Put out some ice water in the bins for the cats in the gazebo. It was cloudy yesterday so it didn't feel quite as hot and my AC was keeping up pretty well.

I better get off my butt here and start working! Have a good day!

Good morning Sue, Sharon, Shirl & Barbie and everyone here. Sue, it sounds like your flowers are staying watered being you taking care of them as well as mother nature. Sharon, I talked with our friend Carolb this morning, as I do every Monday morning. Shirl, you've had your share of trials and tribulations and am happy to hear that your family will be there for you. Barbie, good luck this afternoon! Beth, I'm looking forward to hearing that the porch roof has been repaired and happy that your motorhome door is fixed. Judy, I hope things get taken care of in your motorhome. Karen, your yard must be beautiful with all the work you've done on it. Anne, you must have lots of veggies coming on in your garden. Sheila, I hope you get a picture of your grandson with his afghan. Pat, I think about you often and hope your sister is home.

It's been warm here in central FL with afternoon temperatures in the mid 90's, but nothing compared to some of you on the west coast. We just had a thunderstorm roll through but it's starting to clear and the storm is heading east. The furniture donated from this resort has been taken to our parish hall and everyone is very impressed with it. I wish all of you a good week.

Everyone, I hope my posts aren’t taken as “poor me” because that isn’t what I mean. I will be 87 next month and feel fortunate for my life and that I am not in pain. There was a message to check medication side effects because some changes are not age related. I am having a watermelon delivered tomorrow so life is good.

Good morning...barely. Shirl nobody thinks poor anybody. We all just empathy for each other. We all come with trials and tribulations and it is good to share. I know I did when I was so sick. I am blessed to have a good rheumatologist and eye doctor. I like my primary care gal. She isnt a doc (whew) but a PA that works with a doc and she is crazy good I am lucky.

Irmi I had to laugh at how beautiful my yard is.......NOT but my flowers and small garden areas are looking very good this year. My bushes out front are all blooming, so that is good. My front yard is better than the back yard as I am still working on a plan for it. But I seem to have time pondering what I will do with it Sharon I know what you mean by sleeping in LOL I dont like to sleep too late, I like to be up around 5 or 5:30 seems like I have so much more time and especially in the summer heat. If I sleep later than 6 or so I feel like I am behind...ha ha behind for what....who knows. The dog is no help, she gets up when I do, not before and not later.

I was cleaning my kitchen cabinets and counters this morning when my neighbor called with a question on his Cameras. So I went over and fixed it, and we all chatted for a bit, came home to finish washing the cabinets and NO WATER. So I asked if they had water nope, John called the manager and he said it was an Emergency leak and they had no time to call us all. Will be off for about 3 hours. I was just happy everyones water is off, ya know you always think it could just be me...and that is never good. So no more cabinet washing for now. To be continued later.

Will fix some lunch and just putter around a bit, need to get Henry (since I dont have a Piper) to vacuum the kitchen since I cleaned out my toaster and of course got as many crumbs on the floor as in the sink. Good luck today Barbie, we will wait for an update. Havent heard yet how Beth is doing, but I know we will.

I'm annoyed! Had most of a message typed, was continuing next sentence, and all previous had just disappeared! Ugh
It's 89° today, only headed into 90's, after several very hot days topping at 111° Saturday! Not fit for woman or beast outside, when it's that hot! Humidity 30%.
Shirl made a good point re checking side effects of meds,both RX and OTC. I've noticed my heart rate lower than I expect. Checked all 3 BP RX, sure enough, though 2 can raise HR, the third can lower it! Bit disconcerting, when I'm used to 65-75 HR and look at watch and it's only 54!
Frustrating to think my sleep study is over a month away yet, unless there is a cancelation! I am sleeping a bit longer since my asthma got better, sleep helps!
Beth, sure hope roofers get there!
Barbara, if that "energy" drink contains Sugar, you are not doing your ADHD any favors!

Turned the alarm clock off so got up a little later than planned. Went right out and resumed cleaning the Sling because today is a bit cooler - in the 80s. Rain predicted tomorrow but now they say any minute! Put the full cover on, but so far no rain.

Barbie, exciting to have realtor come and plans to have a 'for sale' sign! Shirl, this is the place to share whatever. Good health is something I'm grateful considering what I hear from others. A stepcousin a month older than me has just been admitted to a dementia care facility. We played together at family gatherings as children. We weren't in contact for a long time, but then I visited her several times in Iowa and then Kansas over the past few years. Breaks my heart. Velda, I didn't used to have posts disappear, but now it happens more frequently. Frustrating.

We are close to the Pacific Coast Trail so I joined a FB group of PCT Angels. Figure at some time someone will need a ride I can provide from Leavenworth to a trail head.

Anita, do you mean the Pacific Crest Trail? When I lived in the foothills I was within about 15 - 20 miles of a PCT trailhead near La Porte, Ca. A friend and I trailered horses up there a time or two, and went for one of the most amazing horseback rides imaginable.

Those were the days!

For those readers out there, there is a quite amazing book about one hiker's adventures on the trail, called "Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail" by Cheryl Strayed. A movie was made of the book some years back, but I found the book much more interesting.

Getting depressed from all the things that keep breaking in this motorhome and how much I am spending on getting things fixed. At least I have an appointment tomorrow to get hot water heater fixed--having to take barely lukewarm and sometimes even chilly showers. Plus, I tried to flush the hot water heater, but could not remove the plug. Too hard to get off with pliers and don't h ave right size socket set. So gave up. Also could not get water filter off the other day--just too hard to unscrew it, so these are two things that I wish I could do myself to save money. Darn.

Anyway, after a dozen calls, I finally got the Ford dealer to check my radiator hoses on Wednesday morning at 7:30 am. I hate getting up that late, but will do it to find out what is wrong. She said might have to order parts, and I said it was slow leak and if that happened, I might just head for Detroit or Ohio. I think it is really just the hoses that were replaced in late February, but we shall see. If I had the money, I would buy a new vehicle--just too frustrating to get things fixed on this one.

ADDENDUM: I need to remind myself that all of us on this site are very lucky. I have also lost a lot of high school class members and know of others not in very good shape these days. We are all relatively mobile, have close friends and relatives we appreciate, and can post to friends on computers these days. Got to keep positive things in mind.

There are some interesting parts of the book I mention above that describes people who help hikers when they (the hikers) need to make stops (scheduled or otherwise!) along the trail, or otherwise need some kind of help. As you know, hiking the PCT is a truly grueling experience. Most people don't realize that to hike the whole trail can take upwards of five months or so - even at that, hikers need to make fifteen or twenty miles of walking/hiking per day.

I had always wanted to do more of the PCT on horseback, particularly the part of the trail that goes through Lassen Volcanic National Park. I know it would have been fantastic.

Unfortunately, that is an item on my bucket list I will never be able to check off. I waited too long. Not sure they even allow horses on the trail anymore.

Whew! What a busy day!! In just under 6 hours, I got the whole house cleaned and organized! Just had a few little odds and ends to sort thru that I didn't get time to do but otherwise it looks really nice in here! I am exhausted tho!

The agent came over and was very impressed with how nice my place is and has a lot of ideas on how to market this place to get potential buyers to look at it. He wants to list it August 1st! So I still have things that need to get done around here. The microwave needs to be installed yet (Dave & Debbie will be back next week) and the mini splits need to get inspected yet. I need to paint the kitchen and go thru my boxes of "misc" stuff and photos. Also need a plumber to come in and check my leaky dish washer to see if that can be fixed or if it is a goner. I won't replace it if it can't be fixed since they cost a lot. This one is a small apartment sized one and for some reason they cost way more than the regular sized one. Also need to clean up the porch and deck from all the dust, etc. And of course, get into my new storage unit and move stuff over there. So still a lot to do in the next week or so!
The sun is back out today so the temps are back up to 115*.

Velda, I only drink the energy drinks when I need to clean house! I don't even like the taste of them but they do keep me going when I need the extra boost!

For tonight, just gonna relax! I think I will go to bed early tonight!

Beth, hope you are getting your roof fixed soon!

Judy, you maybe should look into getting a new used rig. I would be frustrated to no end with all those constant repairs! The dealers are overloaded with RVS now because sales have gone way down the past year and they are stuck with a lot of inventory, altho I would stay away from anything built between 2019-2022. The "Covid Campers" are junk.

The cats are finally coming out of hiding after trying to stay out of my way today!

Trying to catch up with everyone here. Barbie, sounds like that job-fair was such a waste of time - terrible! And looks like you'll be busy getting your place ready, but sometimes having a short timeframe forces us to get in gear & get it done! Keep us updated. Lyn, always good to see your posts - I thought about you the other day when they mentioned comic-con on the news. Martha, can't imaging how badly that hurt! Glad your shoulder popped back in - but yikes, even thinking about that makes me cringe. Shirlv, getting older sucks. I dread the day I can no longer drive. Sounds like you've got plans to cover your needs, but it still sucks. Beth, hope they can fix your roof so you can get on the road. JudyB, it must be frustrating to have so many things that need repairs - but at least it sounds like you won't have to put out money on them.

I found out today that the baby isn't enrolled in the daycare we want him in. DIL misunderstood - thought just mentioning it to them in January ensured him a spot. Nope. Anyway, I get to keep him longer. I adore the little guy. Spent last weekend at their lake house with them - he is learning to crawl & is such a happy baby so I won't be taking any in-person French classes this semester. I'll just finish up online - which is probably just as good.

Bigger news is I drove up & back down the mountain to my son's lake house. I took a back-way up - lots of twists & turns, thru forest-like areas & a couple of little towns with a few very short 10-12% grades, but not on the edge. Drove down on the 'Rim of the World Highway' - known for its amazing views but it is right on the edge. Much quicker, only 7% grade for a few miles, but pretty gentle overall. Anita, I thought about you on your sling when I found this video - its a couple of motorcycles not a sling but looks like fun. This road doesn't look that bad, but I've been too scared to drive it thus far. Just the thought of being on that edge was terrifying. I know this would be a piece of cake for many of you braver souls, just remember I come from the gentle hills of Kansas. Having an older car (2006) added to my concern, but it's good to know that we both can do it if we have to again.

Oh & I met a lady here who would like to travel thru France with someone. The timing for my trip in January doesn't match up with her plans, but we get along really well so we're hoping we can work out something in the future. Stay tuned....
