Morni g everybody. Cloudy and the sun yet to rise above the trees. Days are starting to get shorter. Current temp is 57°. Nice day coming up with high around 80. We are in a bit of an unsettled weather pattern and that caused some excitement up in Lake Huron near Mackinac Island yesterday about mid day. Although it does look close, it was actually several miles away and over open water, east of the Mackinac Bridge. The NWS had issued a special Marine Warning prior to this coming down.

Painting is done that I wanted to do. Just a little minor touchup around base of porch posts left. Glad that’s done. One big house maintenance chore out of the way. With possible heavy rains coming in tomorrow, I think I will hold off on the minor touchups. Although the porch has a roof, rain can blow under if it’s windy enough. I have other chores to do today. Pick up the piles of yard debris I raked up yesterday, get gas and mow the yard, take recycles up to the bins, see if I can get a urine sample from Piper as I think she might have a UTI and take it up to the vet to be analyzed and also get some fertilizer for my flowers while I’m up that way. Get this stuff done before rains move into tomorrow. So another busy day here.

Beth, have a safe trip to Iowa. Sharon, sorry to her about your GD’s setback.

Guess had better get moving here. Take my shower and wash my hair, then take the dogs for a walk and see if Piper will cooperate for me. I don’t always have luck in the morning cause she sometimes goes out aright after I get up to take care of business, so she doesn’t have to go again for awhile. Have a nice day everyone.

We have rain, more rain than we needed all at once!!!! It started around three with rain, thunder and lightening.I couldn't go back to sleep with noise and lighting flashes. Think strobe lights in your bedroom.
The thunder stopped for awhile but continued off and on until just awhile ago. Toby with help from Pippa thought they could bark the thunder away. It looks like the sun is trying to come out now and DH is trying to get up the nerve to face the basement! I don''t hear the dehumidifier and it is a very large very expensive one. We got tired of replacing the smaller ones especially after one almost caught fire. I have a massage at 12;30 and I hope I don't fall asleep on the table so I get to enjoy it. Just saw on FB a friends house is completely surrounded by water knee deep. They have lived there 43 years and never seen anything like it. I think our drought has been alleviated.

Sheila I hope you get your jury duty cancelled they are really understanding here and I think after 70 you don't get called.

Another overcast day so far but at least we don’t have any air quality alerts today! The last couple of days it was really hazy from the fires in Canada. So we weren’t out other when we had to be. I thought yesterday would be a nice quiet day at home but my good friend who gets the local paper sent me a link to the obituary for my former boss at the tax office. The visitation was from 4 to 8 yesterday. Then got a text from co worker asking if I had heard and if I would be going. So anyway we arranged to meet there and go together. Heck of a way to see people you’ve known for a long time. It made me realize I actually have had contact with several of her family over the years. Small town at its best,I suppose! Son invited me to join him having dinner with his boys but not knowing the time situation I turned that down. Besides I wasn’t really sure I could shift my mood that quick and dinner was for GS birthday. Son doesn’t get much time one on one with his boys anymore so there was that too. I grabbed a burger before I left Bellefonte and came on home and told Buddy all about it! Sue, it was 65 when I got up this morning and supposed to go up to 80 today so after my chiropractor appointment this afternoon we’ll get out for a nice walk and enjoy the temperature being down in early evening. Something I’ve noticed this year is that I’m seeing more fireflies in my yard in the evening. Hoping they’re making a comeback. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen more then one or two in the yard. We used to see lots of them. Sue, I’ve noticed the days getting shorter too. Time is really flying by and I never seem to have enough time to get everything done that needs to be done. Probably that I tend to procrastinate a lot too! I have a couple of motion lights that I need to get hung in the yard but not sure just where to put them! That way I can maybe keep up with where Buddy is in the yard at night. He seems to like to get into mischief under the cover of darkness even when I’m out there with him! And I can’t always see where he is when he goes into the back part of the yard and what he’s into! We have a training session tomorrow afternoon and I will need to decide if we want to continue with this trainer or not. I’m not sure that she’s doing anymore than what I’m doing on a daily basis with him. I sure hope you gals out west get a break from the heat you’re experiencing. At least we’re getting some rain now and again with a few cooler days following it. So can’t really complain about it. I’m rambling here so need to think about some lunch and get busy again! Hope you all have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning. Nice morning here, 58/91 so wanted to get out and get a few things cleaned up off my back deck in preparation of power washing before I stain it again. Got my last security camera up and running. Threw in a load of laundry, whites and towels. I like to keep up on it as I dont like doing it all at one time LOL

Going to make a crustless quiche today. Will make a green salad to go with it to use up the lettuce before it goes bad. Then I need to start eating more out of my freezer before I start reloading ha ha Think I will rummage thru there to see what I can throw in my crockpot or on the BBQ for tomorrow. No telling what I will find ha ha

Sharon hope your training lesson goes well. Sue as busy as ever. BJ sorry about the loss of your boss. Seems like the older we get the more folks we lose each year.

Not much going on here today since I don't have to go to town. It's suppose to get up to 99 today, tomorrow and Friday. Then rain for Saturday and Sunday. The clothes hamper was full so washed a load of clothes. I try to wash at night so it's cooler when I run the dryer but I keep forgetting. I have enough to run a load of towels. We'll see if I remember that tonight.

Sharon, I haven't seen fireflies here in years. Probably because they spray for mosquitoes. I have seen some a few times when I was camping. That was one of the entertainments at Grandmother house when we were kids, put fire flies and june bugs in a jar. I have motion activated solar lights all around Sugar's yard so I can see what she is doing. I just use zip ties to put them on the top of the fence.

I missed a few funerals during covid. That seemed to be the place where everyone was catching covid. Unless someone I'm friends with on Facebook posts an obituary I don't find out someone has died for a while. I take the local paper but most of the time it's a week or more before I read it.

When I went to Walmart the other day I picked up a rotisserie chicken. This morning I put all the skin and bones in a pot with water to boil. When it cools off I'll strain it and put it in the freezer for gumbo. It's too hot for gumbo now. I had a frozen quesadilla for lunch. They aren't that good but easy. Hope I can remember not to buy another box. The last time I went to Sam's I bought a box of steak and cheese sandwiches. I'm glad I gave most of them to my son because they are a little chewy.

The yard needs to be mowed again. That's not going to happen until about 7:00 when it cools off some.

Martha

I just spent an hour replanning my route for next week to try to be in higher elevations more. I'll be really hoping that I get lucky at my petroglyph stop as they only have 2 electric sites and they aren't reservable. It'll be hot there and I want one of those sites. After that I'm heading into the higher elevations for the next couple stops. I'll still see some warmer days but the nights should cool off. And in the end I only added about 25 miles to my route. So now I have 3 routes saved lol

The guys haven't made it to fix my RV door. They were supposed to be here yesterday. They've apologized and tell me before Friday. So I'm doing things here in the casita. It'll make my job easier this weekend when I planned to get everything necessary moved back into the rig as some is already there and more will keep moving a bit at a time. I'll try to do a bunch tomorrow morning before it gets too hot. Ginger and I are hoping to get out and about at least one more day, so hopefully Friday or Saturday will work since today and tomorrow got tossed out lol

Well it seems very warm outside 92 but we dont have any breeze at all so feels hotter. Even the dog was not keen on hanging outside this afternoon. Didn't make my quiche today as I didnt want to turn the oven on in the heat of the day so will make it early tomorrow.

Beth hope you can find cooler weather in your travels. We have some high 80's coming up but to me that is still hot. I like the 70's. Martha I have bought some of those frozen things too, threw out a box of chicken something sandwiches after trying one, talk about chewy. I bought a box of tacos that I thought would be good, OMG they were so greasy so in the trash they went. I am not buying anymore of that kind of stuff. I do like the Terriyaki bowls and the spring rolls, orange chicken and of course the crispy wings are good. But if I dont try it I wont know if it is something really good. I just know what I will not buy again. Costco used to sell these great charbroiled angus burgers (just the meat) in a box and they were so good. Then I couldnt find them anymore. But I did find the same sort of thing just different packaging but same words just different box, Oh they were so bad smelling and tasting that I threw them out, even the dog didnt like them. So being the die hard that I am, found another bag of different kind I havent tried them yet but maybe tomorrow. I am thinking scallops and shrimp tomorrow as I found a bag of each while reorganizing. Need to remember to take them out to thaw in the morning.
Had a salad for lunch, opened a can of chicken breast to add to my salad, I really like that canned chicken it is real good The dog likes it too LOL I love those rotisserie chickens but the ones at Costco are 3lbs so I eat on it for a couple days then take all the meat off and freeze it. Stick the bones and rest of the carcass in the instant pot and make bone broth, so good. On a lazy day I just throw it in the trash LOL Ya know sometimes it is more trouble than it is worth to me ha ha

The skies here are very hazy with smoke from a big fire over towards the coast. I dont smell it but when I cant see the planes flying over my house its hazy. Usually I can almost reach out and touch some of them ha ha

I am not hungry so think I will just make my Caramel mocha for now. Try to find something to watch on the tv

darn I just looked at the clock even though I knew it was 10 just didn't soak in that it was... earlier I thought of having ice cream... picked up blue bunny almond pistachio that flavor is a favorite one we will see how blue bunny does it...
accomplished all that I intended to do... we went to the Korean place first time we had been there... I would go again but I also felt that I like Thia better than Korean and one of the ladies that we had lunch with said that there is a Thia place that I'd not heard of so think one day we will have to have it... there was the 4 of us one is a close by neighbor so when the Thia food was brought up and I questioned getting mom in she said it won't work (her husband is in a wheelchair) so figure she knows what she is saying... so the plan is one day we will both order food from the Thia place and she will go get it and bring it to us and them... sounds like a plan there are just some places one can't find parking at... I'm truly not a fan of take out but in this case it might be what we will have to do.. after lunch I read scriptures well listened to a pod caste that went along with it... then talked myself into going to the store... it took forever to get across town to the store... picked up a rotisserie to make some chicken salad with tossed the bones in the freezer... one day it will come out but right now it's just too hot for overly hot food...
picked up a sub sandwich for us to share... mom asked why the plant was tipped over have no idea... when I righted it up it looked it had been nibbled on probably what tipped it over wish we had camera on the deck just to see what visited... possibly deer perhaps until it looked like it was nibbled on I thought that a dog perhaps had gotten in the yard but now think it was something else... :(
Have they gotten the MERSA under control Sharon?
if I don't have to be on jury duty will take a couple of weeks and go to Iowa see family and friends I need a slower trip back than the last one was... you will be there while the Iowa State Fair is going on Beth... I've always wanted to go but I think sister in law has brought up some concerns one is parking evidently in fields and I don't do well with uneven ground... so not sure what I will do... but I do know that if I make it I will stop in and see you Beth
you all have a great day
sheila

Sheila, I've been hoping that you'll make it to Iowa while I'm there. It will be so good to see you should that happen. It's been too long!

I'm off to bed. Night all.

Just getting ready for bed. Hopefully, I can fall asleep sooner than last night.

I hung out in my room most of the day to stay cool. I did do a little painting on one small section of the kitchen wallpaper. I will have to do 2 coats but looks decent. The smell wasn't very strong so I think if I just do one area at a time each day, it will be fine. I forgot to tape off one area so had to clean the paint off that.

I texted the guy at the temp service about the job fair and the cost. He says if I tell them I am there thru the temp service I won't have to pay to park or get in to the job fair. I guess it is kind of a cannabis farmers market too, so there will be some vendors and cannabis stuff for sale. I am not interested in any of that so I guess I can bypass all that and just check out the job fair.

I have an appointment tomorrow for a blood draw for my drs appointment next week. So nothing to eat until my 2pm appointment.

Sophie has gotten over her panic when I say the word "no". Now she looks at me to see if I am talking to her or Romeow. She will stop what she is doing when I say it tho. She is getting more comfortable with me and the house, etc. Less jumpy. Romeow got spooked the other day by something and has been a little jumpy since then.

Good night...
