Morning All, was a quiet 4th. A family across the field sets off fireworks every year. Nothing spectacular but pretty. The sound is muted because of distance so not a problem. The high point of the holiday was a picture of youngrpest granddaughter and youngest great grandson playing on the river the same as I did with my young family. Be safe

I'm editing Shirl's post to include a picture of the grands. So cute. Great memories.

Morning Shirl and all who follow. The RV tech called and will be here today. Here's hoping I'll have a working door again in a few hours.

We have a cactus garden with plants free to residents. I grabbed a Santa Rita prickly pear day before yesterday. Today I went by where we can borrow landscaping stuff and borrowed a small pick/shovel. I forgot to put my gloves on and when removing the plant from it's container I managed to get little tiny cactus thingies all over my hands. Ouch. I've removed most but they really hard to see and will probably have some bothering me for a while. Duh lol But it's planted and hopefully will do well.

Good morning Shirl, and all who follow. It's the start of a nice day near 90° later. Much better than 113°. Hope to catch up on a few things. Last night was noisy and fun, except for all the local fire, police, and medical- dozens of fires, a few fireworks related injuries. A 50 acre fire across town, cause not yet disclosed. We had some good burgers I made and enjoyed later evening with long time next door neighbors. It's fun watching the youngest generation, learning about safe and sane fireworks. First time it's only been the two families of the 7 who live here. But we enjoyed talking and watching our children and their grandchildren lighting off our display.
So far, this week, my BP is behaving. Next week is the pulmonary function testing.

Good morning. Only 62 here this morning but warming up quickly to 97 then we should see some 80's. We shall see. Just a few housekeeping chores this morning then going to Costco for a couple of things. Will just be happy to get out of the house ha ha even if only for a short while.

My cameras should come today then I will plot out where to place them. My motion light will be coming also...........kinda like Christmas in July LOL Shower time then off to the store

Good afternoon. 86° currently. Supposed to hit around 90. Humidity is 89%, so up there a bit. Rain and thunderstorms due here this afternoon, evening, tonight and through tomorrow morning. Cold front coming in. Probably have some strong to severe storms thrown in especially as the atmosphere beats up. Heavy rains also possible. I’m already seeing some towering cumulus clouds starting to form, an indication of heat rising into the atmosphere.

Just came home from town. Trip to Credit Union safe deposit box, run to Walmart for new watch Chinese buffet for lunch and stop at State Farm for quick review of Homeowners and Truck insurance policies as both are renewing for another year. All’s well there. Home and inside for rest of day.

Thanks for the compliments on my little figures in the flowerbed. I’m going to leave them that way through July. Brought in a piece of ply wood to trace the pattern out, for at least one of August’s outfits. Will get another piece of plywood next time I’m up town. Forgot about it today. This is actually the full display I put out for the 4th,


We are going to be taking down the posts, sign and canopy as the posts are rotting and it’s getting very wobbly. Plan at moment is to replace the posts and put sign back up but not the canopy, as the shingles are in bad shape as well and it prohibits the rain from getting to the flowers. Got to get some volunteers first.

These are some of the flags the businesses around Gaylord have out front during the summer holidays. It’s pretty neat driving down a couple of the roads leading into town with these flags flying in the breeze.


Velda , sounds like quite the 4th going in around you. Glad you enjoy the BBQ and the neighbors. Was very quiet around here. Lots of traffic heading south today. Back to work they’re go.

Almost noon here. I woke up at 8am after a good 7 hours of sleep but then fell back to sleep and woke up at 10:30. Well, more sleep is better than not enough sleep.

I intended to get to WM again yesterday to pick up my meds but dragged my feet. Then I remembered the potluck at 4 so put some chips in a bowl and went to the small clubhouse down the street from me (we have 2 large main clubhouses but they are pretty much closed in the summer, but we have 4 satellite areas at the corners of the park with a pool, laundry, and small clubhouse). There were about 12 people there. The food was great! Brought back a plate of food for my neighbor Gloria. I was gonna head to WM but then remembered it was a holiday so checked online and sure enough the pharmacy was closed. So will try again today! I usually don't do well when I skip a day or two of my anti-depressants, so I might take a nose-dive for a couple days now. My fault tho.

I talked to a guy at the potluck who is looking to buy a park model here (he is renting one here now). I told him about mine so he might stop over to look at it this week. I need to do a quick over-all straightening up around here just in case. Also need to get back to my deep cleaning/organizing plan! That got derailed a few days ago.

Last night I could hear fireworks going off all around me. I didn't go out to watch. Was watching TV instead. Sophie was being very cautious and concerned about the noise but was still out in the living room with me and Romeow. I think because he and I weren't reacting to it, that gave her a little more reassurance.

Beth, I hope you get your door fixed and other things taken care of today!

Hope you all had a nice 4th weekend and now back to life in general. I better get moving here and go pick up my meds before the heat of mid-day hits.

Beth, try sticking on some heavy duty duct/duck tape on your hand where you have the spines still hiding. Usually that gets out the ones you cannot see.

Had to move site third time in three days but am finally in a site for four days in a row. Then I move to a full hookup site for three days before i head back to Aurora for my dentist appointment. Then to Michigan for a couple of weeks.

Very hot here, at least for this area--90 today, but cooling off to 84 tomorrow. Did not know 84 would be cool

I got most of the spines out and having them at all is my own fault.

Door is fixed!!! They went above and beyond, replacing the connections in all three areas, not just the bottom broken ones. They also checked my light fixture and the bulb simply wasn't connecting good. And they fixed my drawer with a broken bad latch. (I had purchased a new latch but, of course, it didn't fit the same holes. I've been tying that drawer shut for over a year when traveling). It was more work than I expected to get it match up, so glad I thought of that, too. Yay. I like them. Father and son. Father is semi retired but was bored so usually comes with. They aren't cheap, but they guarantee their work and I didn't need to remove the screen. Lights not a danger and drawer shuts properly again. I told them I wanted to get my rig washed and waxed but who I usually use broke his wrist and they had a recommendation for that and the person's business card. I'll call. It's needs a good job. Better than I can do.

And that brings me up-to-date.

Beth, glad to hear everything’s fixed. Might have cost a bit, but got your moneys worth and peace of mind.

Had a bit of rain about half hour ago, temp dropped from 85 to 72 and humidity from 89 to 64%. Feels good. But sun iscoming out again, so will get muggy with everything being wet. I think the Wednesday night boat parade is probably cancelled for today. Probably should be called the Wednesday Night Rev because it’s meant for the pontoons to go out and rev up the motors and run around to stir up the waters.

Made it home from my store trips. Got out of Costco for under $75 unheard of for me. Got a roasted chicken and my hearing aids adjusted. Also bought a few other staples. I CANNOT buy anything more........wont fit in my freezer!!!! Packages were on my deck when I got home. Got the wind deflectors for my car, cameras and motion light. Haven't even opened the boxes yet, wayyyyyyy too hot to do anything with them. 102 on my back deck. I sure will hate to see my electric bill this month but I will not be hot or cold so will need to suck it up I guess.
Shirl great pic of the family. They look way cooler than I am. I am sick of the hot weather already LOL c'mon fall. Well c'mon after I am done harvesting my tomatoes LOL I have quite a few on there. Still harvesting green beans, yellow crookneck and zucchini squash. Acorn squash will be closer to fall. Had some chicken, half a roasted potato, and squash for lunch so wont need much for dinner. Now going to check out a thriller movie on Netflix, the last one I watched was way too weird. I dont like horror movies or science fiction, I prefer a good drama or a light thriller. We shall see.
Beth so glad you were able to get all fixed up. I know it costs money but sometimes we just have to part with it to get the job done right. At least now you know you are safe and not going to start a fire AND you can get in and out your door!!!

Beth, so glad your repairs were done. If we don’t know how to fix a problem we at least know when the the repair knows what they are doing. Now days having reliable service is money well spent. #2 daughter stopped by to deliver food from local store and veggies from her garden. Karen you have enough tech projects to keep you occupied for awhile. Lol I don’t usually post pictures of family but with hats and sunglasses thought I wasn’t infringing on their privacy. With the horrid news I just wanted to post a positive picture to represent there are young families living healthy happy lives. Good for them.

So glad you got things fixed, Beth, even if it hurt your wallet. Ouch on the cactus spines! Shirl, nice picture of family! Sheila, I knew I had bought the wrong plant with the Coral Bells because they are shade - my bad. The fuchsia and begonia were part sun, part shade. Sun doesn't hit them until about 4:30 but it's just too hot. This patio is so different than the last in that respect.

Very quiet here last night. I turned the scanner on for awhile and listened while they worked to get boats into the Columbia River east of here for water rescue/recovery. 21-year-old jumped off a cliff and didn't resurface. Turns out he's my daughter's ex-neighbor. He lived there with his late grandma and his very nasty dad. Had helped get the snow off the kids' roof last winter. The dad stopped by to tell the kids this afternoon which surprised us. Just learned helicopter is getting water out of Lake Wenatchee for a fire northwest of here. 2 large fires on the west side of the mountains. Time has come.

I had a 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. awake time last night so not feeling very productive. I did make a shrimp pasta salad - not terribly impressed.

I went to town after lunch and it stormed here while I was gone. It rained in town but not hard. The wind blew things off the carport. One of the 15 foot rubber mat I have on the old carport is in the yard and the other one is twisted up. Eddie must have dumped my rain gauge because it is empty. It had 3/8 inch of rain in it when I left from yesterday. I called my neighbor and he said we got 3 inches of rain. It's getting windy and dark so it might rain again.

Beth, glad you got your repairs done. It must have been a bad day for whoever installed the latches in my motorhome because there are at least 4 that don't work. The latches Coach House uses are almost impossible to fix if they don't line up right. I put baby latches on a couple of drawers so they don't fly open.

The main thing I went to town for was a birthday card for my grandson. I went to the bank, post office and grocery store and forgot the birthday card. I could be dangerous if I was in charge of anything important. The only things I wanted at the store was eggs and 1/2 & 1/2 and still managed to spend $70. I have been wanting to cook a squash casserole so got some yellow squash and ritz crackers. I don't remember what else the recipe calls for so hope I have it. Blue Bell has a new flavor called Dr Pepper Float so had to try it. I think I would like a real float better.

I moved a shelf in a cabinet so I could put more books in it. The cabinet is only about 20 inches wide so now I have 3 shelves of cookbooks. I didn't count the number of cookbooks I have. There are a few in the kitchen and a few floating around the house. That's why things never come out the same, I am usually cooking out of several cookbooks.

I hear you about the cook books Martha I had so many before we left our house years ago still have a few but not near as many I love reading recipes and I really enjoy watching food video's I want this Mediterranean Dish cookbook enjoy her video's
I made hamburger goulash tonight the afternoon didn't go the way I had planned so didn't get to the store so had no ideas for supper it's a good one when you have nothing in mind took out frozen hamburger thought I did pretty good from frozen meat to meal on table in 1 hour and 15 mins or there about and didn't use the microwave rarely do except for reheats... problem was I didn't use elbow used another type of pasta... and didn't use enough... something was missing never did figure out what...
last night mom said that she needed to go to see my brother so today I called him to see if he was back to work or if we would find him at home when we did take a road trip... he was actually here in town for drs appointment at 3:00 and would come over to see mom afterwards... so thought that I had at least an hour not long afterward I heard voices so quickly got dressed and went out his appointment was later so thought he would visit before his appointment ... he did tell me when we were on the phone that he felt like mom just simply didn't enjoy visiting with him.... I told him that we don't talk a lot either... I think its a case of she can't hear well enough to know what is being said and she doesn't have enough to talk about... I did mention to him that I think we need to fix the tub into a walk in shower think he will talk with my other brother about it... she can get into the tub but it seems to be painful and hard to do...
glad that your to do items were taken care of Beth they can be expensive but some time peace of mind is worth it...
