Good Morning. Beautiful sunny morning, 56° Looking at mid 80’s by afternoon. But we have no humidity, which makes it tolerable. Yesterday we had a good breeze too and I think we are supposed to have some today as well. So actually perfect summer weather. Although I like low to mid 70’s better.

Been that way my whole life. When I worked summers at the state park, that was one thing that was stressed. You use a piece of equipment, clean it up before you put it away. If you use something, put it back where you got it from and don’t leave it laying around. It becomes an ingrained habit after awhile

Michigan starts a new distracted driving law at the end of the month. Deck project coming along slow but sure. Side door landing is s raped, sanded and ready to prime. Work g on next level down. Bought paint and primer yesterday. Probably won’t get that done till Friday. Have a vet appt. With Molly this morning and I have an appt. Tomorrow morning. So have to deal with the sun issues by time I get home, although there’s a bit of shade too. Shall see how it goes today.

Morning Sue and All, 66°stormy weather predicted through Friday. My internet service was down yesterday and so was my banks system. Scary times since I could not access online banking once I had internet again. Everything seems ok today. I’ve given up trying to pull the cord through the swing arm of the floor lamp. Waiting for a return call from a new handyman service. Would like some furniture moved around too. Fingers crossed. #2 granddaughter sent me kabobs for dinner last night so will have mine another time. Todays dinner will be from the freezer. Be safe

Shirl, have you looked to see if there is a place that repairs lamps near you. I know there use to be one in Lafayette and I have been there several times when I needed globes and things like that. They made a lamp out of one of Harold's trophys for me. Of course it went with the hurricane.

We had thunder and lightening for over an hour last night. I checked the rain gauge this morning and we only got a 1/4 inch of rain. I walked out to the barn to talk to the guy that has the cows here and it's like a sauna outside. The weather channel says we have a 40% chance of rain but there is nothing on the radar.

I haven't had ants in the house for months but when I got home yesterday afternoon there were ants in the kitchen window and sink. I put some Terro out and there aren't as many this morning. I need to go see where they are coming across the cement outside. When I mowed Sugar's yard the other day I got ants on my feet several times. It was like they were in the grass all over so I put out ant bait poison. Probably need to do that again so they don't get on Sugar. I have to put the outside cat's food bowl in a moat to keep the ants out of their food. So far they haven't found the bin I keep the big bag in.

Charlie is setting off the camera on the front porch. He probably wants to come back in. The house cats aren't staying out long in this heat.

Martha, searching for lamp repair was the first thing I did, nothing. People do not repair things they buy new. This lamp is perfect for me and that is why I’m trying to get it fixed. Since I have aged so has my family and life doesnt go as planned for them either. One day at a time.

Shirl, I have been lucky enough to be able to repair a couple of favorite lamps - one belonged to my Mother - (I repaired it myself) over the years. On the one that belonged to my Mom the switch had gone bad after only about fifty years of use (who knew?), and I didn't want to part with it.

Luckily (and surprisingly) the "guts" were available at my local hardware store, so it was an easy fix.

It is quite unusual - it looks kind of like a standing woman, an Asian water-carrier, with a taste of Indian (from India) influence. I have never seen anything like it, my parents got it when I was about ten years old.

I think it is made of some kind of heavy-duty plaster (it is not plastic - I don't think they even made lamps like this out of plastic "back in the day"). One time, years ago, one of my young dogs, while still a puppy, somehow got entangled in the cord while racing around, and knocked the lamp off of the table straight onto the floor. I was astonished that it didn't shatter (didn't do any good at all to the lampshade, though!) but the lamp itself was none the worse for wear.

Sorry to hear you are having such a problem getting your lamp repaired, and here's hoping that you can find someone that can do it for you. As I say, my lamp fixes were easy, sounds like you have a complex job on your hands.

I, too, have great affection for my old lamps.

Shirl, sometimes stores that sell light fixtures, I’m talking a retail store that people go to for exterior or interior lighting, will repair lamps. There’s one here in Gaylord that sells all kinds of light fixtures for peoples homes, that want to replace/upgrade lights or are building a new house and looking for some lightening. Plus, they also sell kitchen cabinets too. I’ve had a couple of lamp sockets replaced for me there.

Sue, that is a good suggestion. I am wautung for a call from handyman. If that diesnt pan outI will go a light fixture store. If they don’t fix lamps they might know someone who does.

Shirl, I'm having trouble getting help here for a few things. There are dozens here in the winter but they aren't in the summer. Then the guy I like best for washing and waxing my rig broke his wrist. He won't be healed before I leave. Is like some general things in having trouble with done, but have to find different people for the Casita than for the RV, even it's it's basic things.

Today's problem is the Amazon order that I was expecting. Early this morning Amazon sent me an email one item is delayed. Ok. Just now I tracked the others, on one box, made it to Benson at 6 something this morning. Instead of being put on a truck for delivery, that box is now on Tucson since about 8:30 this morning and no further updates. Geez. Nothing I can't live without today but frustrating.

Getting close to time for our final walk of the day. I just set my alarm for 5:30 tomorrow morning. I probably will ignore it but I should get walking that early since it's the coolest time of day and I was awake that early the last couple days even if I just laid on bed refusing to get up yet lol

Good news and bad news from the x-ray of my finger yesterday and my cat scans of chest and abdomen:

- Chest cat scan showed that the 2 cm nodule that they have been tracking since 2019 is the same size as it has always been, so it was declared benign and will not need another cat scan for a couple of years. My CLL makes me more likely to get another form of cancer, especially skin and lung cancer, which is why they have been watching this. So this is good news.
- Cat scan of kidneys showed same calcification as last year in the body of the left kidney. Small cyst in right kidney but probably benign, so that also is good news.
- I had hoped that two little painful bumps on my finger would be cysts of some sort that could be removed. Bad news is that they are tiny spurs of arthritis, so nothing can be done. Darn!

Tomorrow I see the dentist about my long overdue potential tooth implant. I also need to make an appointment with an ophthalmologist since I have not seen one in over two years.

Yesterday, I got my kitchen cleaned! Yay! Then today, I cleaned my living room and rearranged it some. Lots of kitty litter and fur bunnies all over. (dust bunnies made of fur! ) Glad to get that all cleaned up. Still have a couple surfaces (tables etc) that need to be cleared off. Also still have a lot of cardboard boxes in my porch to cut up and take to the dumpster. Then will move to the bedroom and bathroom for cleaning. Those won't take long. I want to do more downsizing as well. Easier to do when the rooms are clean tho.

I ordered a Flippity Fish for Sophie the other day. Then, yesterday I remembered I had bought one for Romeow and he lost interest in it so I put it away. I found it yesterday and neither cat is too interested in it. I got the one I ordered, this morning. So I will send it back to Amazon.

It is super windy out tonight. Got my porch windows closed to keep the dust out.

I mentioned that I was texting with Linda the other day. Well, she works part time as a driver for GrubHub, so I asked her about it. I know I can't do Uber or Lyft because my car would not get approved by them (age and issues with door locks). But it doesn't matter when delivering food. I would rather transport food than people anyways! She showed me how much money she earns from her deliveries including tips and it is pretty good. She makes almost $100 in just 3 hours . I know that is without taxes being taken out so I would have to account for that, but still good money for part time. Also have to consider gas costs but they do cover some of that in with your pay. So I am seriously considering signing up for that and giving it a try and see how it goes. I am not getting anywhere with other options.

I would like to start doing some yoga but can't afford classes. I don't know how to get anything like that on TV so I will try to use my laptop altho that is a pretty small screen to look at. I need to get a mat for it that is cushy enough for me. Maybe I could try chair yoga to start with .

I was gonna finish the new cat door today but forgot. I can do it tomorrow. Almost time for bed now.

The cats are chasing each other thru the old cat door back and forth! I am so happy that they are getting along and playing so well!

Sue, here in CA we chuckle at you saying, "we have no humidity today", which likely you mean no uncomfortable humidity. Here is CA in summer we get days of single digit humidity percentage! A good day is 25-30% in summer! a bad day may be 8%! Yes that's eight percent!

It really is difficult to fully understand how very hot, and very dry, it can be here in the summer for those not living it.

LOL.

That being said, as you know, we are having the mildest summer I can ever remember. We still haven't had our first 100 degree day, which generally start early to mid April. And here it is almost July!

And I am LOVING it! It was cloudy and a delightful sixty degrees when I looked at the thermometer a while ago.

I'll take it!

Sue, I do feel for you and all of you in the Eastern part of the country that seem to be having such hot weather, with constant threat of wildfire.

Yep, I sure can't complain this season! Just now starting to inch over 100*. Other than some high winds with dust, it is really nice! When I moved here 4 years ago on June 6th, it was SO hot! It was miserable to move in that heat! Now to have almost 2 months of summer being comfortable, that means 2 less months of a miserable summer to deal with. So really only 3 months left before temps start heading down from the ungodly heat that I know is coming yet. 3 months is much better than 5 to deal with!
