Another Winter Storm Weekend

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Another Winter Storm Weekend

Morning all. Okay, this morning I will attempt to write a decent post that won’t be attributed to Shingrix brain  have to say, yesterday’s was a bit pathetic.

Another Winter Storm is upon us. Warning in effect till 11 p.m. tonight. 8-12 inches expected. Very wet snow. Good day to be in and veg as my neighbor says. I plan to do just that. Would rather deal with the snow than the dangerous Weather down south. Some bad tornadoes last night. One on the ground for 90 miles. Watching the Weather Channel and some videos on my IPad from up at the Sault about how the company that supplies the ships works. I’ve seen their boat go out and attach itself to a ship underway like a lamprey and then use their crane to lift supplies up to the ships deck while they are going downriver from the locks. I admire the skill of the pilot of the supply boat, navigating up alongside those big freighters. Makes it look so easy. Looks like a toy alongside those huge boats.

My Mum experiment is going to be a 50-50 success. One has two tiny leaves sprouted, the other, nothing. I will give it till end of this week and declare that one a loss. My Geranium’s are doing very well and the cuttings I put in a glass of water are rooting, so will bring my planter box in this week and get them in the dirt.

So that’s all from my section of the country. Have a nice day all. Stay safe in paths of storms.

Morning Sue. Another cold damp rainy day here. I am so over this weather!!!! Pretty much confined to the house. I am itching to get out in the yard but we only get occasional bursts of clear sky and then in comes the rain. Yesterday we got storms many times where the sky is dark, the wind is blowing, and it is cold out. Had quite the hailstorm, the ground was covered and of course lots of minor accidents all around. My scanner was very busy.

Henry is on the job in my room and dining room. He has tomorrow off LOL I might work on my computer today, cleaning out things I have downloaded and dont need anymore. Also lots of pictures some good, some need to go. Some programs/apps I never use. It is time consuming tho so might get bored doing that. Carol and Bill improving slowly, they hope to be home next week. Sue glad you are feeling better from your shot. I havent got mine yet because my infusion I just had I cant yet. I can get it in September before I have my infusion. Oh well we shall see. Terrible destruction from the Tornados. Hope all my RV and nurse friends are safe that live in that area.

I made a small pot of that Tortellini soup but didnt use any chicken. Just a vegetable soup and it was really good. I really like the cheese and spinach tortellini in the soup. Will finish it up today. Will also make my small lasagna and my hamburger rice casserole today. I have enough hamburger thawed now that I can also make some Sloppy Joe mix up. Those are easy. I freeze my hamburger buns so just pull one out when I want one. I also freeze the sloppy joe mix. I am all about easy LOL I will need to go to the store this week to replenish my supply. My pantry is chock full of stuff but seems like I run low on the things I use all the time.
So my car has had it's check engine light on for a few months now. I have had it scanned a couple of times and it shows no error codes. So they reset it and go on my way telling me it might come back on, dont worry about it. WELL I do worry about it LOL So I bought my own OBD scanner. Plugged it in, started my car, waited a few minutes, downloaded the app, and hit the scan button. It said no problems detected, so then it turned off my check engine light. Hmmmmmm we shall see if it stays off.

Time to get some breakfast and a shower in case I do want to go somewhere.

The pictures from the Mississippi tornado damage are sad. So glad the storms went North of here.

Not moving very fast this morning. As many times as I have been out this week you would think I could remember to get eggs. I have the hospice dine around tomorrow. Maybe I can remember eggs while I'm out. I might get boiled crawfish from the local store tonight. I thought about it yesterday but didn't want to mess with them. I'll see how I feel this afternoon. I think I'll wash my car today. The motorhome needs to be washed but I'm not that ambitious. There is a truck wash in Lafayette but I can never catch them open when I pass.

I had two pots of mums on the carport when we had the big freeze and I didn't think about putting them inside. There are a few leaves around the bottom of one so maybe it will come back. I picked up some potting soil yesterday to put in one of the tubs. Still haven't decided what to plant in it.

Afternoon All, an another dismal dark day. Sue, glad you are feeling better. My circle of friends and family did not have your reaction to the shingle shot. A serious case of shingles is horrible and we treated some in the hospital. Karen, I am sitting in the recliner with table lamp on and a floor lamp over my should, it seems to help the blahs. I sit too much and read you should get up every hour for ten minutes Trying to increase water consumption so walking to the bathroom evert hour solves that problem too. Lol. I might go crazy and bake something sweet. I hang a lot of laundry instead of using the dryer which helps with the dry heat in the apartment. Making a pickup grocery list for next week. Going to try corn tortillas wraps instead of bread. I know I’m so reckless. Pot of tulips are sad looking sad so shut the blind. I’m not brightening anyone’s day so will just take another walk. Be safe

Good late morning!

Sun is out and not much wind right now but is supposed to get really windy again later with a new storm rolling in tomorrow.

I need to repot my strawberry plant. I put the small pot it came in, into a bigger pot but need to take the plant out of the smaller pot and add more soil around it to fill in the bigger pot.

Karen, I have had cars with the check engine light on all the time too, but nothing shows up with the tester. Makes me nervous too. What is your recipe for the hamburger rice casserole?

My eyes have been really sore, like strained and headache behind my eyes, I think from being on my phone and laptop too much. So I will try to stay off of both as much as possible today. I am going to get some blue light reading glasses and see if that helps some.

Need to go to the post office to pick up a package that I missed delivery of yesterday while I was out. Then putter around the house.

Have a good day and stay safe!

Good afternoon,

Sun is shining! Sheila, I don't move until the end of May when lease is up here. Looks like I'll pay for my shingles shot since I don't have Medicare drug coverage. Karen, my diesel truck engine light came and went. I remember Googling and found it would do that at times until I refueled. Since it was serviced regularly, I quit worrying about it. My daughter gave my son-in-law an OBD scanner - good idea! Shirl, I'll be anxious to hear how you like corn tortillas. They weren't my thing. Not healthy, but I use flour tortillas. I need to get something done before basketball starts! Hate hearing about all the nasty weather!

Still really cold (high of 38 today), but sunny day helps keep my motorhome warm without electric heaters. Nights have been fine since I keep the heaters and my rear furnace running. Also glad I have a warm down comforter!

Cleaned out under my dinette yesterday by moving out my old printer, putting the new one into the underneath space, and using the extra room to reorganize stuff. Looks much neater. Today, I am going to work on the drawer latches. I'll be heading into Santa Fe on Monday when it is a little warmer and drop off the old printer at Goodwill, pick up an Amazon order, get some propane, and pick up some groceries. Tuesday, it will be 49, so I will drive back in to visit Museum Hill. Then on Wednesday, it will be a whopping 60, so I will walk around downtown area.

In the meantime, doing some cooking and organizing, plus a lot of just resting and reading. Nice view outside at least, but I have one major problem with taking trash out. The dumpsters here have steel lids, and I just cannot lift them. Tried the other day, and had to get help from older gentleman cleaning the nearby restrooms.

And speaking of boats servicing ships on the Great Lakes, there is a very famous ship on the Detroit River that delivers mail to ships as they pass by. This service has been provided by the Westcott company since 1895, and the current ship is the J.W. Westcott II. It is the only floating ZIP code in the United States, and operates out of downtown Detroit. You just address mail to the name of the vessel, Marine Post Office, Detroit, MI 48222, and it will get delivered as the ship goes by! The company has also delivered freight to ships moving on the river since 1884. https://www.jwwestcott.com/

cloudy again today some flurries but not chance of snow for a few days at least that is the way I took it... I think even though we need it I am so over cloudy and grey
I'm going to blame that on my desire to not do anything I talked myself out of going to the store then remembered that there were no snacks in fridge for mom to find ie no strawberries no watermelon something easy for her to find...she raids the fridge at least two or three times during the night...
so had to go to the store was almost the time to start supper so went to the store no NO strawberries to be found in the one store and I didn't go to the other one... got watermelon and cantaloupe as well as other stuff and then to DQ and chicken finger's and their mix of onions and fries...
tomorrow might get made what I've been going to do for a couple of days  I too would like that recipe for hamburger and rice...
I hope Anita that the upcoming apartment is a better fix.
I should go to my room... before I get to involved in this show
I hope that that we don't have anyone that no longer posts on here in Mississippi don't want to wonder about them...
you all have a great day
