Wednesday March 15

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday March 15

Postby Shirlv » Wed Mar 15, 2023 8:17 am

Morning All, 34°a sunny windy morning. I soaked sugar snap pea seeds overnight to plant today. Tomorrow forecast is 55° would have been a better day. Fresh air will due me good. Lol Major excitement today will be pay bills, easy come, easy go. A huge crane as tall as a four story building has moved in across the street. Think it might be to move steel beams. Heard a two story building going up. Will give me something to watch. Those dealing with bad weather are in my thoughts. Be safe

Wonderful Wednesday the 16

Postby asirimarco » Wed Mar 15, 2023 8:34 am

Good morning to all from Amado, AZ. We got here Monday afternoon after a few rough hours. About 20 miles from the US border the Jeep decided it was tired of being towed especially over the rough road and topes.
Image
Yep the whole thing came pulled off the jeep, luckily the Jeep ran over it and we got stopped in time, so Jeep wasn't able to wander off on its own. A wonderful Mexican man stopped right away and disconnected the whole mess. The actual Blue Ox tow bar is fine. It is just where the bracket with the hooks was welded to the Jeep. That piece is now in back seat. Bill is going to mechanic near the RV park today and they will put it up on a lift to see what needs/can be done to get us on the road again. And we also have to drive the Jeep back into Mexico to turn in our paper work because I was so rattled I didn't remember where I'd put the stupid papers, grrrr. Oh well will give us something to do one day.
Yesterday our first full day here was great. Went to Denny's for breakfast (do you know they charge 3.86 for a cup of coffee?!) then went to WalMart to buy a new sewer hose, because when the plastic bucket that fell out of a pick up in front of us went under the RV it broke the connection etc. The good news is in San Carlos there was a wonderful plumber who fixed the leak that the bucket caused.
We are SOOOO glad to be in US. Will not be home for a while, depending on how long fixing tow will take.
And am waiting for a call from Dish TV to get our TV up and working again, Usually takes a few minute call. Not lately I guess. Tech says they had a cyber attack and there whole system is screwed up. But someone will call me to get our box activated...not holding breath.
So thats our story. Will wait for the call, Bill take jeep to mechanic and we will both relax. Supposed to rain here tonight with wind. No problem.
I've been reading but have limited Internet too as parks Internet doesn't reach the back row.

Good morning Shirl, Carol and all that check in!

Shirl & Carol, you both started a morning post but I know they'll be merged later in the day. Shirl, I cackled out loud about the 4 foot crane. That is so funny! Thanks for the laugh! Carol, I hope you and Bill can get the Blue Ox re-attached to Willy and that the rest of your trip will be uneventful.

We woke up in the mid 40's this morning, when lately we've started the day in the mid to high 60's. Our high today will be about 69, but things will warm up more each day this week.

Today we'll be visiting with the friends we traveled around the country with. We do this every month, talking turns doing the visiting and preparing the meal. Steve and I spend the night each visit but since they have two dogs, need to go home the same day. I prepare a breakfast for the morning after so she doesn't have to worry about fixing both dinner and breakfast. I'll be making a Cinnamon French Toast Bake casserole. The recipe sounds yummy and hope it tastes just as good.

Please stay safe with the crazy weather everywhere.

Good morning. I am really not used to this time change yet, even tho I love the evenings but just cant seem to get to sleep early enough. Almost 11 pm and I went to bed at 9 Something is wrong with this picture!!!!! I like to get up about 5, so I set my Alexa alarm, she did her job I told her to stop and rolled over......problem here. Went back to sleep until almost 7 I hate that. I like to get up between 5-6 now my morning is almost gone. Oh well will try again tonite LOL

Made some ribs yesterday but they came "pre-sauced" and I definitely dont like the sauce. So in the trash they go. They were just cheaper than the ones I like. So will pick up another rack of the ones in sauce that I like and learned my lesson.
This morning my computer was not working right. The mouse apparently lost it's mind. Rebooted the laptop a couple of times to no avail. So switched the mouse out for the one on my smaller laptop in the office and it is working fine. That is it in a nutshell but took me over an hour to figure it out. It would move but when I clicked on things nothing happened. So ordered a new one on Amazon. It will be here tomorrow.

Hope all is well with Anne and that Carol and Bill get everything fixed so they can head home. Irmi in the kitchen again..........sure wish I lived closer.

Weather here is only cloudy with freezing fog. I think I got up too late to see any freezing fog LOL just foggy out but 40 and will warm up to 53

On a financial front I am continuing to lose money in the stock market so I am getting out of it except for my 401K I dont want the tax hit if I did that. I have decided to buy CD's, kind of stagger them thru the years. Bought 2 last night at 5.00% heard the feds are thinking of holding the rate right now but 5% is the best it has been for years. I am only buying 1 year CD for now. I bought 2 last November at 4.25% and thought that was pretty good. Also opened an online savings account as the banks dont pay anything so my mad money might as well make a little on it instead of 0.1% I didnt want to put it all in CD's as you pay a penalty if you withdraw early. So will be cancelling my Edward Jones accounts and moving it elsewhere for now anyway. Never know what to do but at least I can know what I am getting for each CD. If I bought CD's thru Edward Jones I pay them a percentage when they come due.......heck I cant do the stock market but I sure can do CD's.

OK enough rambling, off to the shower and get busy

Carol, the Dish hack destroyed major parts of their systems. It's not that someone just stole customer data--they messed up almost everything. This happened about three weeks ago, and they are still working to repair things. For example, My Dish website and the phone app only allow you to pay your bill because their online systems got destroyed. If like me, your bill is paid automatically, it will still be paid, so no concerns. Also, technical support is almost non-existent because they is working on getting stuff up again. I spoke to someone a week ago about updating my local channels, but I was asked to call back in the morning because only certain people could do that. Since then, I have made 2 calls, each over an hour on hold. The good news is that I am getting all my regular channels, just not the locals, so I guess I should be glad I at least have that. So good luck with getting your system started.

Trying to make reservations in Florida state parks is really messing up my sleep. I am having to get up at 5:40 am and going online at 6 am, but the system is so busy, I keep getting booted off. I have reservations until the second week of January, and some backup reservations in February at Henderson Beach in the Panhandle, but I think I am just going to look for cancellations during the day and skip the morning craziness. I like DST, but am staying awake until 2 am, then waking up three hours later, and not able to go back to sleep until 8-9 am no matter how tired I am. I finally wake up at around noon, but I still really have not gotten enough sleep. I think it will help if I stop the 5:40 am stuff.

Carol, what a mess. Hope you can get it fixed soon. I frequently see pickup trucks and trailers full of junk on the road and I make a point of staying away from them. I don't want to run over some of their junk if it falls off the truck.

I use MSN.com and last week that site was having problems too. And there was a problem with the local report on the Weather Channel. When I have problems with my mouse it usually takes me a couple of days to figure out that it needs a new battery. I use it on my leg and found out that it doesn't work on black jeans.

I went to Walmart and got what I need for my trip. I think everything is loaded except what I need for Sugar in the morning. Maybe I can get on the road before noon. There is a line of storms coming through the state tomorrow night. I don't like to be in the motorhome in a storm. I had to spend a couple of hours in a bathroom during a storm in Mississippi one time.

Karen, it's sickening every month when the statements come in. I rolled my 401Ks over to Edward Jones and sometimes wonder if I should have left them with the companies. But they took a big hit in 2008 too. Where did you find CD's paying 5%? The banks are paying almost nothing.

I again over slept hit snooze woke up an hour later so had to give mom her pill yep repeat of Monday I think  decided that BLT's would work for that meal that comes before noon... too late to be breakfast so decided something besides cereal would taste good... only two strips of bacon so I had a BLTA without the B mom only eat one strip so I enjoyed it... then for supper I made a veggie chowder usually try to have a protein in it but didn't this time... not sure if it didn't taste good to mom or what but she sure didn't eat much she even said she didn't eat much was going to make some celery stuffed with peanut butter and put in fridge but haven't done that and it's late enough that I probably won't should have done it while fixing supper...
pulled out the vacuum cleaner to vacuum decided that I should empty the container (my brother had bought it for mom before I came to live with her as hers wasn't working so I've never seen the book for it and had wondered about the filters and where they were but hadn't tried to find it.) Today I could see there was lint or something caught so was trying figure out how to get it tried a button and the top open yes filters.. I knew from mine that you need to rinse them and dry them so will need to do that one day soon... but just pulling out that stuff helped it work better ... could see where the vacuum cleaner went ...
so that has been my day besides I worked on my Swedish Weave and my crocheted afghan
you all have a great day

I slept in some today. Then got up and did a haircut at 10am. From there, I went to the Social Security office. I have tried calling them a few times but can't get thru. Well, I ended up waiting an hour to see someone. I found out that the first year on SS, they have a monthly extra income limit instead of the yearly limit, so I can only make $1700 per month before they penalize me at the end of the year for each month I am over that amount. So if I take a full-time job, I would have to pause my SS. Otherwise, if I get a part-time job and stay below that amount, I am good to keep my SS coming. Now I need to find a part-time job. I would rather just work part-time than full-time. Unfortunately, the cannabis jobs are all full-time. Will have to find something else I can do that is a sitting job.

Splurged for breakfast at Denny's after that. It was very good! I like my eggs soft-scrambled and my bacon super extra crispy, and they got both done right! I need to learn how to make my eggs soft like that. Mine are always dry and rubbery.

Romeow and I have been just hanging out cuddling and napping this afternoon. He is such a love bug! :D I need to trim his claws again. He is under the covers now and attacking my leg and it hurts with his claws digging in! He fell off the dresser earlier while chasing the fish around the aquarium! Luckily, he fell into the laundry basket, so he was OK but his pride was hurt I think.

Stopped at WM where I used to work to see if my missing library book was there but didn't find it. Picked up a few things and came home. I did buy a new vacuum cleaner. I sold my good one last fall thinking I wouldn't need it on the road, and kept my little stick vacuum, but am finding that that one isn't enough to clean up the fur on the carpet in the porch. It also does nothing with the debris on the carpet on the deck. Am hoping this new one will work better. It is a smaller container vacuum but was not too expensive and is a decent brand. Will try it out tomorrow.

It was mostly sunny today with a light breeze, unlike the forecast had said. No rain, but now it is very windy out! Also didn't see any water in the canal when I crossed it today. There is one road near me that actually goes thru the canal, where as the rest of the roads cross it over a bridge. This road will obviously close when the canal floods. The road actually got washed out 4 years ago when they had the big flood out here from the torrential storm on Valentines Day. Lots of problems all up and down the coast tho. Just north of San Diego, there are several homes and an apartment building about to fall into the ocean due to land slides. :o

I have never done any investing but if I did, it would be in solar. I think with the energy issues threatening out here, it will be a booming business in the near future, especially since CA won't allow generators to be used out here soon.

Carol, sounds like those roads really did a number on your Jeep and tow hitch! :o Yikes! Hope the Jeep didn't get much damage! I think you will be very glad to get home soon!

Judy, you are a glutton for punishment by going back to Florida with the mosquitoes! At least you will be able to test out your new bite gadgets and let us know how they work!

Beth, that was a funny video! It was like the monkey was saying "Here I come! Move it or lose it!"

Have a few small projects to work on tomorrow. I did finally get ahold of the orthopedic office but can't get in until May 5th! Will just have to keep babying my knee until then. It is feeling pretty good lately since I am not doing anything that could strain it. Even my sciatica is much better since I quit working.

Have a good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
