Good Morning from the frosty 45th, It’s -2°with a real feel of -9° That is bad as the UP is. Sault Ste. Marie was reporting -44° windchill a bit ago. I was just getting ready to start this when Piper was standing f there looking at me. Thought maybe she wanted out, but nope, she took over my recliner soon as I got up. . I guess she wanted in my warm chair. So she is sitting in the recliner watching the local Weather report on TV, literally Schools are called all across northern Michigan in the eastern UP. So are some public transit in meals on wheels programs. Snow causing some issues in some places too. We got about 2 inches yesterday and it’s going to stay there too. I’m not going anywhere so I’m not gonna bother doing the drive today. We’re supposed to get some more anyway.

So it’s going to be a good day to stay in the house and continue on with my deep cleaning. I got the top put on my cabinet yesterday and my office is all done. I decided that I am going to keep on going with the washing and stuff and then we’ll go back and go through the closets because they won’t take that long. So the living room is on today’s agenda. I have my last winter wood craft project out in front of the garage now so I’m done with that as well. I am starting to work on some wood birds now. I putts with that stuff in the evening if there’s nothing on TV.
My one neighbor daughter and her boyfriend, really like the birds that I have on my ladder on the garage so I am going to make some for them. Put the primer on them yesterday.

Beth, you are going to keep us all in suspense about your upcoming talk withthe prospective employer tomorrow, or if you don’t take that job, taking the other one you were looking at. We need a little excitement this time of year

BJ you need to get some ice melter. I had to laugh about your husband leaving the car partway on the road. Although I can see why you would be mad, because it is rather dangerous. He does have a point about the expense of having stuff done to the Subaru at 100,000 miles. most vehicles do need to have some things done on them at that point and it can be expensive. I’ll be facing that with my truck down the line here but it won’t be for another year or two.

I guess I had better get a move on here if I want to get this living room done are. Have a nice dsy all. Couple pictures off my last display on my cabinet with the new top on it.

I have been to the Y and back already this morning. WHen I picked up the mail on the way into the house I found my W-2 from the Scoring Center from last year. Sadly I had driven over yesterday to turn in what I thought were my tax documents. I had forgotten that I had attended the Supervisors training last January in anticipation of working on a contract or two last spring. And I was scheduled to work until I realised as the time got closer that though I had the stamina to work an 8 hour day or two I did not have the ability to lead a team for five 8 hour days in a row and had to contact the company and let them know. So I earned a whopping $250. and now have to run the additional paperwork over. There are worst ways to spend some time since I wasn't able to find the ProPlan Sport dog food the dogs eat I will head back out and run a few more errands and enjoy a few more chapters of my books on tape.

BJ, I used to have to drive my cars until the wheels fell off because that was all I could afford. Then I also thought I had to trade my cars in around 100,000 miles because they were worn out..... Then I brought my Honda Fit. She is now 13 years old and has 120,000 miles and that is only what shows on the odometer not the miles she followed the RVs across the states. I realized that not all cars are created equal. Individual vehicle may vary but some brands do statistically have longer life spans, Subaru and Honda are two of those brands. The Honda does look a bit aged around the gills and occasionally I have had to put some money into her but compared to the price of a new car or a car payment, I still feel like I am ahead. There will come a time when I say, enough and let her go but in the meantime, she still gets good gas mileage and is great to zip around town and parking lots. The painful repair was the recent new transmission I decided to put in the 2016 mini van, but again I love having the van available to drive to dog shows and its comfort on longer road trip because the dogs are much more comfortable in it too. And again, I could not afford to replace it with a new van. I will also acknowledge that I am comfortable driving older vehicles because I am lucky enough to own more than one (three counting the 2001 RoadTrek) and do not have fear the dependability factor as much. If one up and dies on me suddenly like the mimi van's transmission did I still have transportation. The price of new cars however frightens me.....

Sue, yes it is very cold in your corner of the world. I'm happy that you have projects to take care of inside and other than letting the dogs out, you can stay inside. If you lose power, you have your generator to keep your house running.

Tina, I agree with you on all counts about hanging on to vehicles. Our toad is a 2012 and has about 112,000 miles on it. Steve's truck is 24 years old and has less than 93,000 miles on it. It is so comfortable and we just love it. I go into panic mode when I see the prices of newer vehicles and we both feel that as long as we keep up with routine maintenance, we're better off keeping them. I know the day will come that we will need to rethink things but that's something we don't want to think about anytime soon.

It was 68 degrees when I got up and we're having a cold front move through as I type. So our high has come and gone and we'll stay about 70 the rest of the day and be in the low 70's this weekend.

Er. . . Sue. I have a personal question for you. Do you hire yourself out? I'm pretty sure I haven't done any "deep cleaning" around here since maybe 2009. It's not too bad here, though. With your speed and energy level, you could probably have everything whipped back into shape. . . in a month or so.

We are having a "wind event" but the temp right now at 10am is 51, however the wind is freezing cold. Staying in today, nowhere I have to go thank goodness. Leaving Monday for Medford. Will get a haircut and a doc appt while I am down there. Will have a good visit with my friend Marjorie. Will just be there for a few days so will be fun. So I better wash my sweatshirts as it is a tad chillier down there. Henry did his job this morning so that hard work is done LOL LOL

My car is a 2010 with 83.000 driving miles on it. Not sure about all the towing miles but i know I sure dont want to have to buy a new car. Not only are they expensive but if something happens it is also hard to get parts. Might be more of my Equinoxes in the junk yards now instead of the newer cars so more parts available. I do really good maintenance on it so hoping that helps it last. They say nowadays it is not a worry to have over 100,000 miles like it used to be years ago. Mine has not cost me anything so far other than routine maintenance things which I am very diligent about.

Making pork steak in the air fryer for dinner tonight. Not sure what side I will have yet, probably some cauliflower with cheese sauce (one of my favorites). Making a pan of lasagna to freeze today as I bought 7lbs of hamburger on sale for $1.97 so couldnt pass that up. Then will food saver the rest.

We finally have sun today after so many gray days. I decided I'm not going to the campout because it's supposed to be 32 tonight. I had enough cold camping on the last trip.

Anne, Sue makes me tired just reading all she does. It probably wouldn't be so hard to clean here if I got rid of all the stuff that is hanging around.

I have the car dilemma too. I probably should get the C-RV ready to tow but don't know if I should spend that much money on a 2013 or get a newer car and tow it. The CR-V has 90,000 miles and I like it a lot. A newer Honda can not be towed. I have given my sister several vehicles when we got something new and the dealer didn't want to give much for a trade in. They are still driving two of them. I drove the 2003 Ford van for 10 years and my sister is still driving it. Two of her son's are mechanics and they can keep a vehicle running a long time.

I haven't made a list of the tax papers I need from last years list so don't know if I have everything yet or not. Every few days something shows up in the mail. I don't feel like working on them anyway. At least since I got the file cabinet that is in arms reach things get filed in a more timely manner.

Karen, they sure don't sell ground meat here for $1.97. I'm doing good to find it under $5.

Afternoon All, it’s very cold but sunny. I’ve taken a break from the antics in Washington so think I will do the same for the weather. Received a video of youngest great grand learning to crawl, think I will watch it twenty more times rather than news. Got a hair cut and picked up curbside order so set for another week or two. Be safe

Well, it'll be a long story when I report on any job lol But should happen in the next couple days. It's nice to be wanted and I'm being picky. Hey, I wasn't thinking I'd work or volunteer this summer but I know I need to keep busy. At least busier lol

I've searched high and low for my good tire pressure gauge. My cheap one from my car is missing, too. I have a tendency to loan it and not get it back. I'm pretty sure my good one from the RV is at the air station in Benson with several others always there, from me checking the RV before leaving. So I have a couple ordered which will arrive Monday. Add soon as I know the car is good I'll make it to Mexico. I know I could ask my neighbors and now that the weather is improving again I might still. If air is needed I'll need to borrow an air compressor. If I ask the manager he'll take care of that part.

Meantime I've been a slugfor a couple days and today isn't much better. But the sun is out and temps improved so Ty and I will attempt a better walk.

I have driven several cars for over 180,000 miles, but that was when I was driving about 32,000 miles a year. I had a long commute to work and for several years had to drive from work to East Lansing for classes and then back home. This was once or twice a week for a total of about 150 miles each trip. And my 2012 motorhome has just rolled over 184,000 miles. I worked on a project for a year for the Ford Corporate quality people just before I retired from my full time job, and they told me I should be able to get 300,000 - 400,000 miles on that V10 engine with no trouble at all. It just keeps chugging along, and I plan to make it for another 100,000 miles. At that point, it will probably me that will be worn out, not that super engine and transmission!!

I wrote content for and designed some very strange manufacturing courses over my career, and one was on paint. It used to be that one big reason for trading in a car before 100,000 miles was that it would be a rusted hulk at that point. That is no longer true because the paint and the paint process on cars has been MUCH improved over the past 20-30 years. All of us are old enough to remember seeing a lot of old rusted cars, but you just don't see that anymore, regardless of what company makes them!!

It is 72 and cloudy today, but I am working inside on making reservations in Ohio for this summer when I see dentist, doctors, and my younger son, plus planning and making reservations from getting from Colorado to Ohio in early June. Things are filling up fast for July and August, and I had lost my senior discount card from Ohio, so am running a bit late. I also want to go into Michigan to visit friends and a couple of cousins, plus head into Ontario for a week or so to check on some places my ancestors lived. Also, have downloaded the rest of my tax documents, so am going to start taxes tonight.

Oh, and I have pretty much been eating my way through my overstuffed refrigerator and freezer, so making some chicken and rice tonight and have two small steaks left. Will need to do some serious food shopping on Monday before I go to Tucson campground.

Judy, I remember years ago we wouldn't have a truck very long and the tail gate would rust off.

the other day I looked at the phone weather and it said today and tomorrow we would get into the 30's for a couple hours in the afternoon... so thought that going to the store today would be a good thing... it was so cold the car said 19 but right now the computer says it's 25 so I don't know what is going on phone says it's 18 out... all I know is when I was out it was cold!!!
I was sitting on the bed getting ready to say scriptures when I heard noise at the door so naturally wondered if mom was trying to go outside or what was going on so went to the living room to check things out and it was #3 and her grandkids .... so we visited and dd asked if I had something the kids might enjoy well we talked about the choices just now thought I could have done eggs for them but didn't think of it so we ended up going to China Town for lunch it was so soon after we'd had breakfast that I just nibbled with plans to have left overs for supper ordered mom War Wonton soup to go the little bit that she ate we will have it another day enough for both of us.. the little ones I'm thinking almost 4 and 11/2 really liked the hot and sour soup as well as what dd gave them off her plate... chinese was a good choice...
for some reason instead of Murder She Wrote on Friday's they have been doing Phyche I don't like the show not sure why but it's never been one I've enjoy
after lunch we drove out through the refuge to see if the big horns where we could see them.. they weren't
we went back to mom's but the baby was asleep so they just went home... I went in the front door and out the back door had to get to the store if we weren't out of milk would have talked myself into waiting another day although not sure what we would have had... got back after 5 good think supper was reheating what I'd got from the China Town...
still need to read scriptures and go and check the ice maker it's not putting out ice... not sure what the issue is brother just said to see if it's frozen where the ice comes out... will do that after I play a game or two ...

Here I am!! I didn't realize it has been a few days since I posted. Time flies when you're having fun! Ha! I have been feeling so stressed out between the house situation and the work situation. Gets frustrating not being able to do much about either one right now.

I finally did get my refund from Amazon for the ebike I never got. Yay! After 9 phone calls!

I checked on a job at a Cannabis company the other day and they are hiring for what I was doing before. I will wait a couple weeks and see if there are any changes in my work schedule, or I may seriously consider that job, altho it is 8 hours a day full-time and is from 6am to 2:30 pm.

After finally getting approved for PT by my insurance, I called to get my first appointment and can't get in until Feb 28th!

I have an appointment for tomorrow after work for an eye exam at WM. I have been having a problem with seeing with my glasses lately, especially driving and especially at night. Can't read road signs until I am right up to them. So I am in need of a new prescription for sure.

Also need to get an oil change for my car and get my taxes done next week. I think I will also see about finally getting my last Covid booster Sunday after work since I will have 4 days off after that to recuperate from that.

Today was overcast most of the day and cooler, in the low 60's but will be warming up over the next several days into the 70's. I noticed the snow on the mountains is already melting too, so must be getting above freezing up there now.

Off to bed... thanks for your concern about me! Nice to know I get missed.

Martha, i remember when my ex and I were married in 1965, his grandmother gave us her old 50 Chevy. We had to put a piece of sheet metal on the floor in front and a rubber mat over that to prevent water from puddles getting our feet wet when we drove. Whole front floor was rusted out!!

THe water in the floorboard made me think of my first car. It was an old Probably a late 40's or early '50 model Plymouth or Dodge convertible with a customized front end. No idea how many miles on it but the back window came out, it was a plastic not glass and I couldn't replace it. When it rained water would come in and would be standing on the floor. There were a few small holes but not enough so I was at my Dad's one day and asked him if he would put some nail holes in the floorboard. After a strange look and a few questions he agreed. I sold it in '76 when I got married for $50.00. It hadn't been started in almost a year and the man who bought it came to pick it up and it started right away. I often wondered how long he kept it going.

We usually drive them longer but I would like all the updated safety features the newer ones have plus the trade-in value is really amazing, as good as selling it out right which I usually do. I also really dislike driving the Subaru and hoping he picks a Toyota. My 2015 Toyota Sienna van only had 48,000 miles on it and is worth over 1/2 of what I paid for it I like it so will drive it until one of us stops There is a lady mechanic in town that can keep a Toyota running for a very long time. Both of my neighbors have Toyota's with over 300,000 mile on them that she works on. I just take mine in a couple of times a year and say do whatever it needs.
