Morning All, 40° and sunny, no precipitation. No news, just starting the day. New IPad on hold while I get my ducks in order. Need to coordinate with Apple Geeks a day when we can transfer data from old pad to cloud, buy new one and retrieve data from cloud. I like learning new things but this sounds like overload and exciting. Making ham and bean soup in the crockpot.Be safe

Not sure if it is old age January blahs, computer illiterate or just being dense but I cannot figure out how t[ post pictures. I know there are instructions but can`t find the. I use android or lap top microsoft. Need simple instructions
So if I can be. Can be pointed in the right direction I would be grateful. No use having Beth do what I should be able to do. I am in the middle of January blahs. I look around the house and see we need new living room and kitchen curtains s so time to start shopping for updates. We have a small business and I have tax forms to file. No use procrastinating so I will start on that. Other than that not much going g on here un til the end of January when we can start traveling to get some warmth and sunshine.

Rita, this is what I use. There is a post about it in the maintenance/tech room, but you'd have to find the right post lol
It does mean you have two windows open, but is pretty simple. I even do it from my phone.

Just copy the URL that shows up in the little white box and paste it here when you're composing a post.
No need to even click above on the IMG codes.

On another note my age shows way too often. I saw something about one of the big award shows and it had a picture of who will be hosting. I don't recognize the name or picture. Yep, I'm out of the loop.

I did get laundry done today. Since I changed the sheets on my bed I do still need to fold the newly washed ones to put away but set them aside temporarily because I want to check that cabinet for anything I should get rid of.

Good afternoon gals!

Been working on the living room and am pretty much done cleaning and putting things away. Went faster than I expected (which doesn't happen often!). Just having lunch now, and then will take out trash and then start on the deck and outside, since it is supposed to rain tomorrow. I can work on the porch tomorrow when I have time.

Have Putters in the morning and then we meet for a lunch and games at the clubhouse after. I also have a haircut scheduled for 2pm.

I just put some pellets on top of Romeow's regular litter to help him get used to it and will gradually (per You Tube videos) increase the pellets. The special litter box for the pellets has one pan that has holes in the bottom where the used sawdust falls thru into another pan underneath lined with a puppy pad, which gets tossed out once a week. People who use that system swear by it! We'll see... First I just want to get him used to the pellets in his current box. I hope it works because I am sick of all the dust from the clay litter and the pieces he drags all over the house. And he gets wet litter stuck to the fur on his tail and bottom.

Woke up to clouds, then the sun came out for awhile, and now we are back to clouds. Big storm moves in late tonight and tomorrow (might put the kabosh on putter's golf and games :o ).

I keep reading about all the avalanches happening in Colorado from the heavy snow. Several have been killed in them already. Many were in areas they weren't supposed to be due to the avalanche risk.

Have a good day :D

I have had a couple of busy days and probably should be in bed but would wake up in the middle of the night if I went to sleep now. Yesterday my son wanted me to bring him to the er again. Someone had to come get me and bring me to Lafayette. I drove the truck as far as the dealership so got that done. We didn't get to the er until 4:00 and didn't see a doctor until 1:30 in the morning. I am not going to that hospital again if I can help it. I think they were just trying to get rid of people and a lot left. My son said he could hurt there the same as at home. I didn't get home until 5:00 in the morning. I felt like I had been beat, every muscle hurt. I had to go back to Lafayette this afternoon because he had a doctor's appointment. He is going to have to have back surgery.

We had a meetup meal at a pizza place and I went. Very good pizza.

The water pump went out on the truck. Hope it didn't mess up something else. That will be the next thing, find someone to bring me to get the truck. My son shouldn't be driving.

All of this makes me wonder what the next problem is going to be.

I should try the pellet litter but wouldn't want to change all the litter boxes. I have 5. I use the Tidy Cat clumping litter and they can spread that around.

Martha .... Kerry and I can't remember what she used to sign on with and is never on here.. anyway her back got so bad that she could hardly move walk stand it was pretty bad... she had some type of back surgery I think 2 springs ago so 2021? it took awhile to heal but last summer she worked in Alaska you might request her as a friend on FB or look for her on the group page can't think of it's title anyway she might be able to give you some information or things to ask about or ... I know that all back issues are not the same but to be frank when she first had it done I was really worried about it as she couldn't do anything but as time went by she improved and rocked it with her job this last summer... I hope your son can fare as well...
went to the store today spent way more than I expected... I guess one day it will quit being a shock..
we are having snow today at the store ran into some friends and he was telling me that there was xxx amount of inches of snow fall on the mountain now I think he meant The Grand but not sure and who in their right mind would go up there to measure the snow fall??? I"m sure that there is a scientific way of doing so without literally doing it... and I don't remember the amount of inches but it was impressive... I hope it was correct...
it's funny how we cheer when other places get snow or rain as it affects other places as Colo gets snow and it ends up in NV we get snow and it helps the ag in parts of Idaho... not to mention the lakes filling or starting to fill... when we lived in SLC you always wanted snow in the mountains as when it melted it helped in the "valley" the rain in the valley ended up in the Great Salt Lake and of no good to anyone... I think right now they are hoping for rain to help the lake...
and I bet in CA you are wishing it would slow down at least some...
I was going to mention something that I read yesterday but totally lost it... possibly to remain so...
you all have a great day

Got the trash and recycle stuff taken out and cleaned the yard up and deck. I even cleaned out my car! :o Didn't bother to hose down the patios or driveway since we are supposed to get some rain tomorrow. Hopefully, it will start later so putters doesn't get cancelled.

Been watching the weather channel and LA news about all the torrential rains and flooding from San Francisco all the way down to downtown LA. Santa Barbara county has been hit really hard with a ton of rain and it just keeps coming! Much of Santa Barbara and all of Montecito have been evacuated due to fear of mudslides. Lots of water rescues. Hwy 101 in Ventura is closed in both directions due to a mud flow across it. A huge sinkhole in LA swallowed 2 cars and the occupants had to be rescued. Such a mess and more storms just keep rolling in off the ocean. Another big system is heading this way for next weekend too.
I guess being in the desert isn't such a bad thing right now.

So far Romeow isn't too impressed with the pellets. I mixed them in more with his clay litter now. Hopefully, he will decide to go in there and not on the floor! :o

Good night...

Martha could you drive your RV to the ER and wait in it for your son? Your son could probably wait there also and they could call when it's his turn. Seems better than you both being exposed to who knows what!

BJ, what an excellent idea!!

The rains in California have been pretty surprising thus far, in other places in the state, not here where I am so much. California is a very large state, so haven't had much more than the usual amount of rain here in my area north of Sacramento. At least thus far.

A major wind storm came in over the weekend, though, and my electricity was out about eighteen hours. I wrapped my chest freezer in several layers of blankets and comforters, when the power came back on and I looked in there, everything was still frozen solid, thank goodness. Most of last year's veggie harvest is in there, together with a lot of beef and pork that I had bought on sale.

Pretty cold in my house, too - upper fifties. Thankfully, my house has a fireplace so I built a fire that kept my living room about 62. Unfortunately, the fireplace smoked quite a bit into the room, so I had to keep a window cracked - which kind of defeated the purpose of a fire in the fireplace. When the weather settles down I'll need to call someone to look into why the fireplace is smoking so bad, and see if it can be corrected.

Not so good for my fridge, though. Fridge got up to about fifty degrees inside, so I tossed just about everything in there. And the fridge had been pretty full. It's going to be a bit of a struggle getting my dumpster pulled out to the curb, it is pretty heavy with refrigerator stuff.

Not complaining - at least not too much.

Could have been worse.

Anne

Hint for keeping the fridge cold: I keep a couple of bottles of water in the freezer and put them in the fridge during a power outage. The fridge is just a giant cooler, after all. For someone without a separate freezer, perhaps 3 or 4 of the personal size waters would help. As long as the gasket on the fridge is good and you don't open the door very often, it should keep food from spoiling for awhile. Having frozen water is also a good emergency preparation, too, not only for keeping food longer, but drinking after it thaws. Can you tell I live in earthquake country?

Excellent suggestions, Evie!

I will need to try your water bottle method.

Thanks!
