Morning All, sunny and warm 40°. I’m still tired from the holiday. I have been shopping on Amazon using a gift card which has been fun. Since I am almost a hermit it was nice to watch family open gifts. I’m not aware what is new and interesting. I just ordered a cutest flower trash bag for the car. I guess throwing things on the floor is outdated. Lol I have laundry and filing to do. Taco salad for dinner. Healing thoughts for those feeling under the weather. Be safe

Good Morning, we have had a little rain o’vernight. Today is the big Holiday Bowl and parade. Right down the street from my building. Although I love the rain, and we need it, I hope all the guests in town don’t have to suffer from getting rained on. I enjoy being in the middle of all this hoop-la. I won’t be taking Hazel out to experience this. She would be scared to death.
I had a sore throat yesterday. Tested NEG. Today it is slightly sore, and only on one side of my throat.
I made a large batch of lentils yesterday. Very good. I do love lentils.

Puppy Girl has survived her first week. She is nursing well and had continues to gain ounces as the days go by. Steadily gaining weight is one of the best indicators that puppies are healthy. It is easy to lose a pup especially in the first week to known and unknown issues. I have a heat lamp over the whelping box to keep everyone warm enough and Jane has learned to be a good momma. Sometime later this week puppy's eye will open and her ears will open and she will begin to explore her environment a little more. Right now she functions on smell and texture and instinct. Waiting for her personality to show itself a little more. Feisty, good nurser isn't enough to go one. She started out about 12.5 oz and as of this morning she is up to 24.6 oz. Like I said, she is a great nurser and Jane isn't lacking for milk at the milk bar.....

After several days of not being able to leave the puppy box and then the bitter cold, it was warm enough for me to get to the Y and move around and stretch out me back. The road here are clear. The only snow I had to drive through was the driveway here. Unfortunately there is a slight uphill as it meets up to the road. Luckily the front wheel drive od the Honda saved me having to return to the house defeated. No one here has shoveled anything and there is no snow blower the the shed. I will have to go with the god put it there and god will take it away. Today's 40* predicted high will help.

Everyone stay safe and healthy as you can. As Sheila (or was it Anita) mentioned, Chris (Red) posted earlier in the week on FB, asking for prayer warriors.....The family had all ended up with Covid and her daughter's three week old baby that they traveled up to Washington to help take care of was admitted to the hospital in Seattle. I haven't heard anything more recent but if any of you have, please share. It is scary for them.... the toddler has covid, too.

Christmas postponed again. No biggie.

Hi ladies!

Shirl, I have been watching your weather in MD, especially on the last few days that it has been so cold everywhere, to prove to me that there are places colder than here in central FL. I don't handle cold weather well. especially to the point that we have to bring our plants in. Lyn, I was introduced to lentil soup when I was in France, and it is very good! Anita, I'm so happy you were able to celebrate Christmas with your family today. I can't wait to hear how it went. Tina, that's great news about the puppy! So happy to hear about Chris' grandchild released from the hospital. Sending lots of healing thoughts to everyone!

We met my sister and 3 others at a German restaurant in Sanford, somewhat northeast of us. It was a fun get together. On a good note, our temperature topped off at 72 this afternoon. I'm so tired of wearing layers and our laundry pile has grown because of that. I want to wear capris and a short sleeved top!

Sheila, I forgot to mention that the pizza was wonderful. I fried up pieces of bacon and fried a 1/2 pound of sausage and added that on top of to the tomato sauce with lots of Mozzarello cheese. Then we sliced pepperoni and added mushrooms and added Italian seasoning along with some pepper flakes. It was so much better than what you call out for plus when we used to call out and asked for extra "anything", you got what we consider just the basics. Our extra means EXTRA.

Good afternoon. Well the last couple days storm was pretty bad. 5 people killed when trees fell on their vehicles. One was a 4 yo girl....so sad. The winds knocked out power to due to falling trees and branches in so many places. Many still dont have power back and the crews are working 24/7 God bless em. My area wasnt hit that bad, but the winds were bad. Some of the outlying areas here had fallen trees and wires down. We were 62 on Christmas but today our high is 52 but lows are in the mid 40's so totally doable. Not much rain today but tonight more is coming. Another storm but supposedly not as bad as the last couple of days.

I ventured out to the grocery stores this morning. My goodness things are still going up in price very rapidly. I spent $170 between the 2 stores but I did buy some meat and will need to food saver it tomorrow. On a more positive note gas keeps going down little by little. It is now $3.15 gal down from the high of $5.25 of which is still in my gas tank LOL I am hoping it continues to go lower....might be wishful thinking.

I am so glad the holidays are coming to an end, the days are getting longer and I can resume my regular life (such as it is).

Irmi, I'm with you on wearing capris and short sleeves. It was 73 today and I was running around without a jacket until the wind picked up. I had to go to Walmart to pay for a prescription that didn't get scanned when I spent $240 on other stuff. Like I was watching what she was scanning.

Good news on the puppy and the baby getting out of the hospital. All the covid is making me start to be more careful and use my hand sanitizer again. My cough is getting better.

The pizza sounds so good. My brother makes pizza but I haven't tried yet. When you order one and start adding all the extras the pizza ends up costing $25. Sometimes I cook one of the diet pizzas and add extra sausage and cheese.

Karen, we have rain coming on Friday but hope we don't get your wind too. I'm not sure which way it's coming from. Our gas has gone down to about $2.35. I should fill up all the gas cans before it goes up again.

Most of the time the days seem to fly by but this week is dragging. I guess too many days at home doing nothing. The Louisiana group has a campout Jan. 12 but I'm not making a reservation until I see what is going to happen with my son.

Martha, I have had your wind here all day. Karen all deaths are hard, but children always more so. Temps got to upper 70's, sundress weather and only getting into mid 60's tonight. Hopefully the wind will be much less tomorrow. I'm doing a pickup order at Walmart. I really was careful what I put in the cart and don't intend to go in any stores this time. I still have so much in my freezer and have veggies and frozen meat I need to make things with. So I actually had to add something for the minimum $35. I'm making a cheap side dish for New Year's Day (cole slaw). At least I'm making it, almost bought some but I like the one I make better and figure there'll be leftovers.

I got gas after picking up my car Monday. $2.30 something. I was happy. The propane truck showed up today, that was $3.75/gallon. But with current temps I shouldn't be using much unless I decide to use it to hear my water instead of adding to my electric bill.

I get my days so confused. Just double checked the day to double check that tomorrow is my pickup lol

I hadn't seen the post that Chris made either so glad to hear the baby is out of the hospital... it's always sad to hear of little ones being sick or not making it .....
so glad the puppy is doing well...
we are on a downward drop in temp's again... it says 21 which is better than a few days ago when it was -21  but we didn't get the storm that was indicated for today just a skiff of snow...
I should have gone to the store today low on milk but have enough for breakfast just no hot chocolate tonight unless I use one from a mix and I just might go do that
heard from my brother and that controller won't be hear for 10 days and he said I wouldn't start counting from today... I actually had assumed that it was already ordered but they've all been sick so perhaps it just was not overly important.. it is too me when I see how uncomfortable she is
the pizza does sound good.... mom likes a meat lover's one and me I like ham and pineapple... oh I like the other's but that is my preferred one... I've heard that you can make them using naan bread as the crust..
I think I talked my self into hot chocolate which shouldn't be a surprise
I finished the afghan today now to get new yarn and start grandson's I just need him to decide on the colors
and then to get them as we don't have a Joann's or Micheals here.... and I don't like to drive the pass in the winter I really don't like to drive it in the summer but will... I've been too many years away from snow roads to feel comfortable driving on them
you all have a great day
sheila

Happy about the puppy doing well and the baby doing better. My new managers mom is in the hospital with Covid too. I have noticed more people wearing masks around town here lately. I will have 3 days off in a row next Monday thru Wednesday so will get my Covid booster on Monday, barring anything else getting in the way.

My old manager/friend came in to work with me this afternoon, so that was fun!

Anita, why did you have to postpone your Christmas GTG again?

I am so jealous of the gas prices you are all talking about! We are still just over $4 per gallon here :o

I remembered yesterday that New Years Day is on Sunday this year and they never have the Rose Parade on Sundays so it will be on Monday morning instead. Something about way back when...well, here is an article about it...

"This year the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl will be played on January 2, not New Year’s Day as usual. This is actually part of the little known “Never on a Sunday” tradition. The Rose Parade faced a dilemma in 1893, as New Year’s Day fell on a Sunday. Parade organizers were afraid that the parade would spook the horses located outside of churches along the parade route for Sunday services. The “Never on a Sunday” exception has been observed ever since even though people no longer use horses to get around Pasadena (or anywhere obviously). This year will be the 15th time the exception has come into play."

I just ordered a cutest flower trash bag for the car. I guess throwing things on the floor is outdated.

I guess I am behind the times. My trash gets pitched into the back seat floor. I do have a small bucket back there but that fills up quick and overflows even quicker! I guess I should get a larger container.

Sheila, I didn't even realize that the Q RV show is only a few weeks away! I need to make some phone calls and see if there are any rooms available in town. I might have to check in Blythe too.

Last night I called my SIL in Tucson. We talked for about an hour and a half. She said my brother is not talking much anymore. I asked if she has had his hearing checked. She hasn't. I hope she does. That could be a good reason for him not talking, altho with his TBI and related dementia, that could also be part of it. She has her hands full with him. She has to be with him 24/7, but now she has hired a caregiver to come over for 3 hours a week so she can run errands and have a little time to herself.

I fell asleep on the couch earlier so am in bed now and very sleepy so I better turn out the light soon! Tomorrow I need to get serious about cleaning up the house in case someone wants to see it!
