Good Morning g everyone. Cloudy, 16° Trust you had a nice Christmas whether you were with friends, family or just by yourself.

Have a couple inches of fresh snow out there. Historic storm and the lake effect behind it are gone. Official total for my area of the county is 27 inches from Early Friday morning to yesterdsy, including the 16.8 that fell on Friday, the second highest one day snowfall in one day since records have been kept in the mid 1940’s.The record is 17”. But is is very soft fluffy snow and easy to blow and shovel. Our county road commission workers had a major battle on their hands this weekend. Mother Nature tried, but she lost this one. Despite blowing snow, drifted roads, a couple which are still closed, stuck vehicles and road clearing equipment, being pulled off the roads on Friday night due to zero visibility, they were back out in force early Saturday. Managed to clear the roads, despite the wind and snow, plow out the subdivisions etc. and created a Christmas Miracle. People were able to get out and enjoy Christmas Day with family and friends if they chose to do so. Roads are snow covered and slippery, but passable. Yesterday they just concentrating on keeping the primary rose clear. Course this means they have to give up their Christmas with their families. Although they may have rotated shifts yesterday maybe. So today they will probably be back out there again doing more cleanup and working on the drifts and stuff.

I didn’t do much of anything yesterday, but I was out with my snowblower for a couple hours. We had about 2 inches of snow Saturday night. But Iwanted to clear my neighbors drive as I hadn’t done it since the storm started. When the county plowed the road, they left the bank at least 4 feet high along our road sides. So took a little bit of work to get through that to get into the drive. But I got it. Also cleared out a section in my yard so that the dogs can at least get out and move around and potty and whatever. I’m actually all set here except for clearing off part of my front porch. I’ll be going out in a little while and clean up what we got last night. Basically this is just normal stuff.

I also started another wood craft project that I was thinking of putting out front by our entrance. But with all the snow and the high Banks I’m gonna be lucky I can get the Christmas stuff out of where it is, so I’m thinking I might not do that. I might put it out in front of my garage instead. I’ll see what happens later this week because we do have a bit of a warm-up coming. But it doesn’t have to be done right away anyway I could put it out there anytime because winter is not going away any time soon.

So I guess I should get myself dressed and run back in the house and then get busy doing something else. I’ve been sitting around I don’t know if most of the weekend then that is getting boring. But it’s mostly resting up from dealing with the storm. Need to get moving to get my energy level back where it belongs. Have a nice day off and stay safe with all these crazy weather patterns we are having.

Good morning Sue and all to follow. I think we also are over the worst of the storm too. One more day of really cold temperatures and some wind but nothing like we had. They are saying we might have some snow today but not much and pockets of it rather then all over. I’m going to try to get out and either snowblow or shovel after it maybe warms up a bit more. And we see if they gray sky decides to drop more snow! First thing will be to get out and clear the driveway porch and around the door. It’s drifted up around it! I spent a quiet day at home yesterday, talked to my kids but decided not to go out. Dinner at one son’s wasn’t until about 5 and really didn’t want to deal with the roads after dark and the temp dropping. Youngest son is still sick with this type A flu and had been tested for Covid and SRV along with the flu strain. Apparently the urgent care clinic is seeing a lot of it and they were pretty sure that’s what he had even before the test results came back. And the fact his work place has had several get it. I will be masking again when I have to get into a high traffic store to hopefully stay away from it. My Amazon order didn’t come Saturday and wasn’t surprised with the weather conditions. Not a big thing, rather they be safe.
Been reading all the news from you all and it’s been keeping me in touch with the outside world! So grateful for all of you. Have a great day and stay safe and warm.

Good morning gals.

I had an appointment this morning to get my Covid booster but had to cancel it. Seems I have a bit of food poisoning from something I ate yesterday  . Just took some Pepto so am hoping that will settle it down some.

Was planning to do some housecleaning today so will see how I feel and how much of that gets done. Also wanted to take my car in to get looked at but that may have to wait until tomorrow as well.

Sounds like the weather situation is finally winding down and the clean up continues. So sad that there were so many deaths from it tho.

Also just read that China is having a major Covid crisis. They recently let up their restrictions and now hundreds of thousands are getting hit with it. I hope we don't get another big surge over here!

Will do some reading and napping this morning until I am feeling better. Hope you all have a good day!

It's a cool, grey day here with temps in 40's so far. Rain expected overnight amd off and on this week! We will gladly take any we get.
Son feels better but looks like he may have cellulitis in his leg again, so call in to Dr.
Not much planned this week as year winds down. I gifted us woth Ninja Creami ice cream maker for Christmas and, after being stuck in bad weather, on it's way from Maryland, it's due here tomorrow! Son looks forward to making sorbet, while I look forward to chocolate toffee sugar drew high protein! I'll let you know how we like it!
Have a good day everyonr.

Good news here. Ford dealer just called and I can pick up my car. Somehow, sitting there, things settled and they can't get it to fault. No thunk either. Do no charge but I'll still be keeping an eye on it. They aren't charging me anything. Now I need to work out a ride to pick it up. Propane company hasn't shown up yet and I don't want to miss them either.

I'm glad the north is coming out of the cold. And the south!

Barbie China has been dealing with trying to open up their stringent covid rules for a couple months and as you noted have been dealing with rising cases. The Chinese did not roll out a vaccine program so much of their population is unvaccinated. And if you watch or read the current news here in the US....while officials are hoping that the flu cases are slowing down the covid cases are continuing to rise.....

Good morning!

Got up early because I didn't know when workers would come. Water just extracted from my carpet so now waiting on another worker about the fans. What I really want is a hot shower and nap - have a cold but will take a Covid test in a bit just in case.

New experience with the weather for me. After it warmed and thawed a bit, now we have ice! Sounds like this doesn't happen often. Very strange to look out and see rain puddles on top of the frozen snow! Really kind of pretty! Someone from the west side of the mountains asked on FB what do you do if you have reservations up here and the passes are closed. Not much you can do! Trains aren't currently running. 29 degrees with feel of 32 degrees.

Beth, always worries me when mechanic can't create the problem!

Afternoon All. It’s overcast and 31° and warmer weather on the way. Had a wonderful Christmas with family. I came home yesterday evening and was exhausted but don’t know why. I guess crowds now tire me out. One of my presents was two cans of sockeye salmon. I think I will have salmon cakes for my New Year’s Eve dinner. My favorite bottle of wine and dark chocolate also gifts. What more could a woman want. Lol strange how gifts have changed over the years and so appreciated. Hope everyone has survived the storm and holidays. It will be nice to get back to a normal routine. Be safe

The Pepto is now working so am feeling better now. Hoping to stay that way today. Not gonna stray from home, just in case...

Beth, always worries me when mechanic can't create the problem!

As you all know, I know this all too well! Also happens with propane stoves and toilet handles. Hopefully the next car repairs are more obvious and cheaper to fix.

Kind of overcast today but nice. My neighbor came by to put on the new propane dual hose connection for my tanks (well I only have one tank now but have another connection available if I (or new owners) want another tank later.

With all the holiday traveling, the Covid cases will surely go up. Hoping to get my booster next week when I have 4 days off in a row. I always try to get it when I have at least 2 days off in a row and no big plans. Seems whenever I plan to get it, something comes up to prevent me from getting it.

Not only did China vaccinate few people, they mostly vaccinated younger people, so most older people are at risk. Plus, they did not buy vaccines from western countries, but instead made their own. It was not the same kind as the rest of the world had, so was not very effective.

Got to sleep in this morning because most of teens and some adults went to the movies this afternoon. They will pick me up about 4 pm for dinner, and then I will head back to Napa tomorrow.

Watching a bunch of feral cats in this campground. Tempted to buy some dry food and spread it on top of picnic tables, but is that a good idea? Someone really needs to catch and spay them, but I know that is hard. At least it is not super cold here, so I imagine they can cuddle together in cold nights--not below freezing. There are a few campers here so cats are climbing into garbage cans.

Got to catch up and post on my blog from a week ago. Been lazy lately.

Judy, I wouldn't put the food on the picnic tables, but on the ground. And preferably a distance from the sites.

Anita, exactly. One of the ladies here drove me into town to pick t up. The car's not shaking and the alarms not triggered, etc. They told me to call immediately if things start up again. And I'm impressed that they didn't try to do "something" and no charges. We did talk about it being towed and where I heard the thunk. There's a chance I drove over something or something got in the area of the shifter and has moved/fallen out.

Talking about COVID, my sister told me my nephew has had it 3 times. I knew about the first time but not the other 2. No, he's not vaccinated. And two women in the park here have tested positive. I'm out of tests so at some point this week I'll go get my free ones.

Problem with putting food on the ground is the hundred or so Canada Geese wandering the place. It would get gobbled up in 5 minutes by the huge flock. I figured cats would find it on tables, but not geese.

perhaps then Judy don't give them any... I agree with Beth about not putting the kitty food on the tables that is teaching them bad manners and then so often people use the tables without cleaning them off... it could get pretty gross...
took mom to the dr today and although he heard something the x-ray's didn't show anything... even though you can hear her "rattle"... I guess what we hear is different than what they listen for in the lungs... who knows.... not me that is for sure... although he does want her to drink more water...
so my day was all missed up came home from drs and read scriptures...
then microwaved supper it was reheating left over's not from yesterday that will be tomorrow's supper...
we are suppose to have another snow storm come in we will see what it does..
hopefully Anita you are all dried out and cozy again...
it is always frustrating when the car doesn't do what it did when it goes to the mechanic .... I think we've all experienced that...
we had a heat wave today while out it actually got up to 40 degree's higher than we've had for a month or longer...
you all have a good night
sheila

I'm guessing that another surge here is only a matter of time. I'm getting a bit low on my N-95's (I have never stopped wearing one whenever I go out and about).

Probably time for me to put in another Amazon order for them.
