Quiet,Cold Wednesday

Good Morning. Still dark out there as it’s only a bit past 6:30 a.m. reeze and cold though. Temp is 13° with a real feel of 7°.
Today is the calm before Thry storm. They are warning people, to get out of Dodge now, if you are traveling anyplace. We are supposed to have some snow tomorrow morning and then a lull until late tomorrow afternoon when the storm starts to move in. By Friday morning we should have around 6 inches and after that it’s all downhill. The NWS office here, made an announcement late yesterday afternoon that they were coming on Facebook, to do a briefing at 7 o’clock last night regarding the storm. When they do that you know things are going to get bad. They had some technical difficulties yesterday trying to do the presentation, but we did get some information. They sent out an apology and said that they will be out again tonight with more information. As it stands right now, we we are supposed to have about 6 inches of snow by Friday morning as I said, and then by afternoon Into Saturday afternoon, the forecast is calling for heavy snow in excess of 12+ inches with winds gusting 45-60 mph. Blizzard conditions are expected during that time period. Travel will become treacherous, if not impossible and people are advised to change their Plans. Once the storm stars to pull away, Lake effect is supposed to kick in behind it, and that is also supposed to be substantial. By later in the afternoon on Christmas day it should start to taper off. Needless to say, no matter which way you look at it I think we are going to be snowed in. If it pans out. Thry will not be able to keep the road crews on the road in that kind of weather, so nothings going to get plowed until things settle down. Because the snow is predicted to be heavy and wet, it could bring down trees and powerlines as well,so expect some power outages.
People are taking it in stride for the most part, changing plans, preparing. I was going to go to Traverse city today to return that computer but changed my mind and we’ll do it later as I have until 14 January. Decided that I am going to town this morning to do a little grocery shopping as I need some things anyway whether the storm is coming or not. And will pick up some additional goodies. Plus I want to top off the gas can for my snow blowers as they are going to be busy. In this kind of a storm, sometimes you have to get out there in the middle of it and blow out what’s there, so it doesn’t get overwhelming. Especially if it’s a wet snow. So I think Christmas is going to be very different this year for a lot of people. Everybody I have talked to you said they’re just going to stay home. Those who have family coming from elsewhere are figuring out the best way to deal with it. My neighbors across the road have out-of-town family coming up, some of them today. They have been working so hard to make this Christmas so special for their family, that I hope they can all get here. They have 28 Christmas stockings lined up along the fireplace for everybody . Going to be a gang. They can’t put them all up over here so some of them rented a place a few miles from here. I was thinking last night that if we lose power, those of us in the neighborhood who have generators, may be having Christmas parties at our houses with our neighbors who don’t So, O’Sharon, Shirl and those east of me, kee your ears and eyes on this one. I have heard that it might turn into a bomb cyclone.
Enough weather. I was surprised to hear that there was an earthquake in California yesterday. Glad nobody on the forum any issues from it. Those down south are in freezing temperatures too, , so this is turning out to be a very interesting Holiday weekend. Beth, hope you hear something about your car. Martha and Sheila, I hope you to start feeling better. Tina, Glad to hear Jane delivered her pup with no issues. I am sure that you are all wore out now. I am sure that you are probably wishing they were more too, , but things don’t always go as planned, as we know. BJ, you should replace your generator even if you have to take a small loan out or something. It would give you a peace of mind. Can your old one be repaired?
There were so many posts on MC yesterday, that I have forgotten what all was being said. So I am going to wish you all a nice day and head for the shower.
