Morning All, a gloomy rainy day. Looks like the next couple of weeks will be the same. A pj day with tree lights on. Have quite a bit of laundry so my chore of the day. Might address a few Christmas cards too. #1 granddaughter stopped to drop off a gnome that she said reminded her of me. Since we share the same sense if humor I thought he was funny too. We gave him a family name which we thought was hilarious too. Hope everyone finds a smile today. Be safe

P.s. I have a piece of frozen cod that will make a nice bowl of soup. Cooked in chicken broth with a slice of bacon. veggies, garlic and thyme. Good healthy dinner on a rainy cold day.

Morning! I'm dragging this morning. I stayed the night at a rest area/scenic view. Unfortunately it was cloudy when I arrived and cloudy this morning. The clouds parted as the sun went down last night for a beautiful sunset, though.

On the road in a few.

Cloudy but sun trying to peek out. Not sure when are next rain is coming but they say it is coming I think Thursday, but unless it is a good storm it will probably miss us. I went to the store and got a few things this morning. I need to get Laundry detergent but I forgot to put it on my Alexa list so therefore it was forgotten. Only $41 so I escaped pretty okay for 2 small bags of groceries. Had a mushroom, spinach, cheese omelet this morning before I went grocery shopping so I am sure that factored in to my medium purchases. I am making oven baked BBQ chicken thighs tonight, even remembered to take them out of the freezer last night, yay me.
Need to get my small tree up today as I do love looking at the lights. Not going to put much else up this year just a few things. Now going to check out the dinner recipes for one. I love that site.

Plan A was to take car over to shuttle (not sure how sidewalks are between here and there), go downtown and take car to buy groceries after. It was a gloomy morning so Plan B I decided I'd walk over for a few groceries (I know it's clear). Called dentist about crown that fell off and have appointment at 10 a.m. tomorrow for evaluation. So Plan C, I cleaned the rest of the snow off the car, will grocery shop after the dentist, and get downtown tomorrow or Wednesday because they are then predicting 4-8 inches of snow Thursday! Whew! :)

Before that I had to help manager figure out she owed me 1/2 month's rent on the garage. They had no trouble billing me for the new spot immediately.

I need to start making notes of all your food ideas! I didn't think I wanted salad in the cold weather so have been having trouble with lunch ideas so I think I'm ready to go back to salads. Sheila, my grandmother (who lived to be almost 102) used to tell me she wasn't really hungry, but she knew she had to eat so she stuck to her normal routine. My aunt who is 93 eats because she her son shows up for rolls in the morning and lunch at noon so have no idea how she'd do otherwise. Well, other than ice cream!

Anita, my mother in law was the same way. She lived to 93 and passed away in 2007. Her husband had been at least ten years older than her and passed away about 1979. She remained in her own home until just months before her death...darn that C-Diff. She had slowed down considerable and was frail but she consistently prepared real food to eat everyday because she knew she needed to eat. She was always a tall, if not a slightly bent in old age, bean poll and barely made it over 105 pounds in her healthy state.

Had my bike cleaned up and the chain tightened while I was in Ohio for Thanksgiving, so I do not want to get it dirty and will almost certainly not be using it until I get to Arizona after the Holidays. My bike cover is not quite big enough to wrap around underneath the bike, so a lot of dirt gets in there. I was looking for a tarp I thought I had, but could not find it, so got out a couple of big trash bags and slipped one of the rear and one over the front of the bike. Had to cut it a bit to go over the bike rack, but it covered nearly all the bottom, so I used duct tape and taped it onto itself and onto the bike rack. Did not want to put the tape directly on the bike in case it messed up the finish. Then I put on the old bike cover and strapped it down good with bungee cords. It should stay nice and clean and safe for a month or so until the weather gets a little warmer and I get to somewhere where there are places to ride it.

I am headed to town tomorrow to pick up a few groceries---yes, i know that my refrig is full, but I need milk, butter, bread, and lemons, plus a few other things that don't need to be refrigerated. The freezer and refrig are getting a little less full, and I could make do for a while, but I also need the right size batteries for my tire minder caps. The ones on the two front tires are dead, so I took the hub cap and the tire minder cap off of one, but I had the wrong batteries. Left the hub cap off for the meantime. Plus I need some Sudafed and some hand cream.

By the way, I found out that there is a sort of Ensure-like product that is frozen and comes in little cups like ice cream. My aunt's facility has an ice cream social every day at 2 pm, and she will eat ice cream, but this way they can give her one of these cups just before bed or when she does not eat. She did eat better yesterday, which was a relief. Don't know about the rest of you, but I constantly worry about getting dementia as I get older. :(

Hi! I’ve been AWOL for quite a while. Honestly, I read the forum every night after I go to bed, but I read it on my phone. I don’t post because I hate pecking out a message on the phone.

It’s been a fun fall. The grands are in school. Haddie is in kindergarten and Bronc in 3rd grade. So they have activities that keep us busy. Bronc played football again and this year it was tackle rather than flag. He liked the contact….going to be like his dad. Haddie was chosen by the senior class to be a crown bearer for the homecoming coronation. She was pretty excited because she got a new “fancy” dress and got to go to the beauty shop to get her hair done. She got to ride with the royalty in the parade and now she thinks that when she’s old enough to drive she wants a yellow Mustang convertible like they rode in.

I laughed when all of you were talking about things that your dogs had eaten. Our Tink ate a box of glow in the dark crayons. Called the vet and he told me not to worry because they are not toxic and they would pass. Well by the time they did our backyard looked like a radioactive land mine at night!

I’m just about done Christmas shopping, the tree is up and the outside decorations are too. Now I have to do some baking. We’re going to have a different Christmas this year and will have Christmas Eve rather than Christmas Day. Ashley’s family is doing Christmas night and we decided that two family Christmases in one day was going to be too much for them.

Had to take my sister to the emergency room the Sunday before Thanksgiving and she was in the hospital with adult RSV until the day after Thanksgiving. She lives in our childhood home and the full bath is on the second floor and the laundry is in the basement and she was still pretty weak when she was released so she came here and didn’t leave until Monday.

I’m not going to comment on anyone’s posts because I don’t want to forget anyone. Oh by the way, I have remembered to say Rabbits every time!

I love it when you post! I've never heard of glow in the dark crayons (I lead a sheltered life) so your description of your backyard made me LOL. Oh and you should start saving for the little crown bearers yellow Mustang convertible.

I went to the Cattlewomen Christmas party tonight and ate too much. I came home with a big piece of cake. There was a dip that was so good. I need to get the recipe for that.

Judy, I worry about getting dementia too. My mother went from a parent to a child when my dad died. I think it had a lot to do with him telling her what to do for 45 years. That is something I recognized in high school and decided that was not going to me in my life. My mother-in-law lived to be 95 and she was sharp until the end. I want to be like her. I could stand to lose a little of my appetite.

Pat, it's good to hear from you. I had to laugh about the radioactive land mine. So far my dog only eats dead things and cat poop.

I have an appointment in the morning to get the oil changed in the truck.

I was thinking of you the other day thinking we'd not heard from you in a bit... so glad to see you post tonight... and I too had to chuckle with the vision of color spots in the lawn... but just think how easy it would be to find the dropping  oh my husband would have gotten a big chuckle out of looking for a yellow convertible or even painting one yellow to give to the little one...
Yesterday I spent a lot of time on the phone waiting finally asked to have a return call which never came... so today I got on the phone earlier in the day and waited in line for an hour only to have them needing to call me back with someone specializing in SD insurance.... and then to find out how expensive one was then to look at others and can't get them due to being over weight...finally settled on Health care (aarp) doing a 50 % but I am almost thinking of calling and seeing if I can redo the application and pay more... do I want to bank on not going to the dr very often as I get older??? I am just not sure.... the difference would be about 100 a month... but is peace of mind worth that ?? so after all the WAIT!!! I find out I didn't have to do this now I could sign up for supplemental insurance anytime....
so I pretty much didn't accomplish much today even the food for supper wasn't what I planned on was going to make potato soup but at 5:30 and just getting off the phone it was open a can of soup and toast for supper... I had to laugh I can't remember what year it was my son and dIl said that they had convinced her mother not to make soup for a family meal as she wanted to make this recipe that she had found for creamy chicken noodle soup and they thought it was just gross sounding.... guess what this soup was??? yes it was creamy chicken noodle soup  actually not bad...
your way of covering your bike made total sense Judy as you were describing the concern... I was thinking cover it with bags... so glad you listened...  I am sure that it will work out well
I was reading scriptures listening to the phone with the funcky music and then the voice repeating the message when I hear scraping and though Jim came to shovel wow didn't think there was much out there then I heard him knock to went and answered the door and he wanted me to open the garage door to get the snow blower out... again no idea it had snowed much had seen snow flurry's at breakfast... so went and opened the door and there it was a lot of snow... how grateful I was that he came and shoveled us out..
you all have a great day
sheila

Had a good time putting this morning. I got my $3 that I won a couple weeks ago. :D

I got the charged up battery put on my ebike and took it for a ride. No power from the battery :o . Nothing. Now what? Seems like nothing works right for me lately. Not sure what the problem is. I cleaned the connections for the battery before I put it on the bike. Judy, any thoughts?? I hope I don't have to bring that into a bike shop and pay thru the nose (which I can't afford right now) to get that fixed. Can't sell it tho until it works. Now it is just another regular bike. Won't get much money for that.

Pat, the story of the glow in the dark dog poo is hilarious! At least you didn't have to worry about stepping in it accidentally at night!

I got roped into working this Friday on my day off. I told them I could only work 6 hours tho. I work 9 hours on Saturday and I just can't do two 9 hour days in a row. I am scheduled to work with the 'missing in action' stylist tomorrow so I hope my manager has a backup for me since I know she won't be showing up. I am about at my breaking point with stress right now.

Barbie, does your bike battery have a little light that turns green or some indicator to tell when it is fully charged? I would check that off the bike when it is plugged into the charger, and then at least you will know the battery is OK.

Otherwise, maybe the battery is not making a connection when it is attached to the bike. Did you clean the connections on the bike as well as the connections on the battery?? The fact that it has absolutely no charge makes me think it might be a connection or a loose wire somewhere. Either that, or it is really not charged as you thought it was.

And not to sound like an online help desk person, but are you sure you have turned the bike on after inserting the battery? And is the battery fully inserted? I know mine has to click into position to work.

Otherwise, we will just have to chalk your bad luck with things working lately to some sort of personal electrical energy curse. Did I ever tell you about my haunted outside radio?? It is only accessible from an outside compartment that I keep locked, but every once in a while it turns itself on, usually to a particular Mexican radio channel and I have to go outside, unlock it, and turn it off because I can hear it through my bedroom closet!!!

I did wait for the charging light to turn green. I will check the connections again. I just wiped off the dust. Is there something I should use to clean them with that won't damage them? There are 4 flat prongs that go into the battery.
