Breezy Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Breezy Tuesday

Postby BarbaraRose » Tue Nov 29, 2022 11:43 am

Good morning gals! Am tired this morning. I woke up almost every hour on the hour all night. Not sure why, other than the 5am wake up with Romeow doing his zoomies bouncing off the walls in my bedroom! .

After what sounded like hurricane force winds overnight :o , it is very breezy this morning. I decided not to go to Putters this morning. Since my car isn't running, I would have to walk there and back and it is on the other end of the park from me, equivalent to about 5 blocks away (plus an hour walking the golf course and then 5 blocks back  ). After yesterday, my feet are still really sore and I really don't want to put them thru more abuse! I should have put air in the tires on my ebike last week!

I will see if by a slim chance, my car starts this morning. Most likely not at this point, so will have to call my road-side assistance for a jump to see if that works. And if it does, go to Auto Zone for a new battery and see if that solves the problem...

My new ebike is still out there lost in the USPS black hole somewhere. I hope it shows up eventually. :? (just got a message that it is expected to be delivered today! Keeping my fingers crossed!

Have a good day!

Afternoon Barbie and All, it’s sunny and cool. Had an early appointment for a haircut and dropped an Amazon return at the UPS store. Ran in Dollar Tree for a clear shower curtain liner to make a little green house for balcony plants. Doubt they will survive but can prolong their life. Sandi I live in an rented apartment so management makes the rules. The balcony is very small, one post that you could strap a hanger to. Rules state nothing allowed hanging on the railing. I have moved my plants away from the post. There is usually a breeze so it carries seed shells all over. At my age I make love not war. Lol. Yesterday I made an easy peach cobbler using self rising flour. I didn’t know you should’ve freeze self rising flour. Cobbler was a pitiful mess so lesson learned. Had a dermatology appointment the beginning of November and forgot to mention my main concern. The earliest return appointment I could get was January 30. Glad the skin tag is covered by my bangs and not on the end of my nose. Be safe

Beth, love your fireplace, will make a cozy casita. Karen, I know moving is stressful so hug Daphne.
Sandi, slow and easy.

Well, I went out to try my car and it barely started! It turned over a couple times and then clicked a couple times and then caught. So I headed to Auto Zone and they tested it and it said "Bad Battery" so I had them put a new one in it. It started right up! I was SO happy! Was kicking myself for not just getting a new one months ago. So then I stopped for gas. That was only $4.39/gln, down from the $6.39 I paid last month! So I was happy about that. Then stopped at WM for water and a couple other things. Came out...car almost didn't start! :o Same problem as before! I was so upset! So back home I went.

I worked on a few projects around here to get my mind off of the car for awhile. Then called the Jeep repair place to see if they can look at it today or tomorrow. They said sure. Then I asked my neighbor lady if she could follow me over there if I can get the car to start. She said yes, so we will do that shortly. If it doesn't start I will have to get it towed over there. This just never ends!

I did decide on one of my two Christmas trees and got it decorated. Looks cute! It is a woodsy theme with animals on it and gold and green ornaments with white fluffy garland. I have some garland to put out on the deck railing too. I have teal lights on the railing but they haven't worked for awhile. I just discovered that the power strip was turned off that I had it plugged into. I have it on a timer so will seen if they come on at 4pm now.

More projects when I return...

Update: My car did start but not easily. Got it to the Jeep place and told the mechanic what the issues have been. He just said "it is obviously your fuel pump". Now why hasn't anyone figured that out before? He said he will work on it tomorrow.

About an hour ago, I heard a ton of sirens and they stopped close by. Now there is a helicopter flying low going all around this area. At first I figured it must have been a bad accident at the intersection out front, but now am thinking maybe it was a crime of some kind and they are looking for someone. I guess on Black Friday, there was a bad fist fight in WM right out front of our shop. Glad I wasn't there! I worry sometimes about working there with crazy people (especially during the holidays) shooting the place up. We are located right by the entrance where the greeters stand.

I am tired already and it isn't even 4pm!

Well evening is upon us out here in the west. Seems like another week is flying by. Not too much going on today at my house. I made scalloped potatoes and ham and it was real good, froze the rest for another day.

Barbie I sure hope they find out what is up with your car. I hate having car trouble, very annoying LOL I am baking a chocolate chip cookie for one from my One Dish Kitchen, made me think of you as I know how much you love those choc chip cookies. This is made in a ramekin so should be just right for me, or I will just eat half...we shall see. Hope your ebike gets there soon.

Need to find something on the tube to watch, I have several shows recorded so nothing is lacking here tonite.

Hey, Barbie. If you just put in a new battery, and it is nearly dead already to the point where it almost won't engage your starter (click-click-click), I would vote for the generator/alternator (whichever one your car has). Something is not putting enough spare "juice" (electricity) into your battery so that it in turn can send the juice to turn the engine over.

LOL. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!

My aunt is getting discharged from the hospital tomorrow, hopefully. She still is tired and her voice is raspy and deep, but she is eating better. They did a brain scan, a kidney and bladder scan, and a bunch of blood tests, and while she still has a bit of pneumonia, the rest of her body seems OK. She is still very weak, however, so I need to get her a wheelchair.

This campground has absolutely no cell service because we are in a canyon along the Colorado River, a long way from anything, but they do provide free internet. I was even thinking of leaving early and going somewhere else, but the lady in the visitor center helped me set up my phone to use internet calling. I had to pay for two weeks of upgraded internet, but it is worth it. EXCEPT, yesterday I got a call at 2 am from the private caregiver company wanting to know if I needed someone in the morning. Then got one at 5 am from the doctor at the hospital! (They are on eastern time and I am on Pacific time) This morning I got up at 5:30 am to try to make a reservation in Florida, and got calls at 6:30 am and 9:00 am, went back to sleep at 9:30 am and slept until noon!

I have also been checking her test results online and talking to nurses, her case manager, and the doctor. Had to call her memory facility to let them know she was probably being sent home tomorrow and then had to update caregiver company--giving her extra help to prevent falls for a couple of weeks. Had to also pay a medical bill and update records, plus update the other POA! Whew!

It has been a nice day, and I have my hummingbird feeder hanging from my window by my recliner, so can watch the little birds. They have gotten used to my being outside and even buzz me on the way to the feeder!

Also, Barbie, I agree with Anne. It is very likely you could have two things that are not closely related like a battery and a fuel pump go bad at the same time. The generator/alternator is more likely, so be careful about letting yourself be talked into buying an expensive fuel pump without evidence that it is not working.

Barbie, hope they get your car problem fixed. I know how aggravating it is when they can't find the problem. I have been driving the truck lately and it started telling me it's time for an oil change. I guess since I didn't pay attention to that it's telling me an oil change is required. I checked the oil and it doesn't need any and I know it hasn't been that many miles since it had an oil change. The check engine light went out today. I was thinking about what I would do if I had a flat and I don't even know if I have a spare tire. Surely there is one up under the bed. I need to check that tomorrow. I don't have time to mess with the truck this week. Next week I'll call the Dodge place and see what they say.

I went to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned this morning. I forgot my grocery list and didn't feel like going shopping so just picked up a lunch and came home. They missed the storm prediction for this part of the state. It rained on me a little in different places but the storms were in the North part of the state. It was 82 today and it's still 75. I think it's suppose to get colder tonight.

I need to get busy tomorrow and get ready for the campout this weekend.

Barbie, I agree with getting the alternator checked. Often the alternator destroys the battery then does it again to a new one. Meantime the check engine light on my car is coming on occasionally. Frustrating because then it's fine. If it keeps it up I'll get it into Ford in Texas.

I got a lot accomplished today but it seems my list is still long. I'm not going to go crazy and if necessary I'll take an extra day before leaving, or two. No hurry! I can say my freezer is going to be quite full!

Judy, I'm glad your aunt is being released and I'm saying again how very lucky she is to have you watching over her care.

Karen, let us know how you like that cookie. I looked up the recipe and wouldn't have the brown sugar on hand but if you recommend it I might be tempted. :)

had to go to the store out of milk low on other stuff... I don't like to drive on snow :o I noticed that the regular gas is dropping here was 4.17 I think diesel was 5.86 I think may have been off a cent or two... one way or the other... and as I was coming home it was starting to snow... not enough to have to turn on wiper's though... we will see what happens over night... I really need to listen to myself as I was leaving the store I thought I ought to transfer these bags into the cart instead of taking the motorized cart out... but self didn't listen and got stuck just behind the car thankfully a couple of women took it off my hands they were younger and not holding on to a oxygen tank ... one of the items on my list was eggs Smith's didn't have any well on one side of the place they are didn't think of looking where the more expensive eggs like eggland's are... had to go to Albertson's they had some but you could only get 2 cartons...I only got 1 I may wish I'd gotten two... it's like you can't get it and what do you want???
have decided that I really need to get snow shoes I think that there is more snow already than we had last year but perhaps it's just me... I don't want to but really ought to have the toes and the heels covered
car issues that can't be diagnosed is a pain not only in the tush but in the wallet... I thought about the alternator as well I don't know if they have a way of testing it to see if it's defective or not.. but would hope that they consider it as well or instead of
you all have a great day

Beth, I appreciate your comment, and I often feel very sorry for the elderly people who do not have anyone who really cares that can monitor their care and step in when needed.
