Snowy Thursday

Good Morning from the snowy 45th. Good old lake effect starting in. We are under a Winter Weather Advisory for the next 24 hours. 3-6 inches possible. Some areas may see as much as a foot. This is an ongoing 3 day event as a cold front will be dropping down tomorrow which will drive the windchills into the teens. Snow totals will depend upon which way the winds are blowing. You can’t predict lake affect snow because a slight change in the wind can throw those snow bands a different direction. It’s a very dry fluffy snow and it can pile up fast. It will be a good day to be in the house working on my wood crafts.
This has been a busy week and like Beth, I too am scheduling appointments for various exams and stuff. Had an appt. With my NP’s office last Friday and met with the PA. Like Karen, we went over my past history, talked about known family medical history etc., got weighed, BP checked etc and the usual blood work ordered, will get a bone density and mammogram done as well. Those two tests won’t be done till end of January. Did the blood work on Monday and have follow up appt. On 28th. Had the stitches from the Mohs surgery removed on Tuesday and a hair cut yesterday. Dentist appt. On the 5th of Dec. for regular cleaning and that should be the end of appts. For this year. Already have at least 3 on my calendar for next year That is when I get my calendar. My credit union gives out free calendars but they don’t have them until after Thanksgiving. YepKaren, our calendars get full of medical stuff anymore now.
The other interesting thing that happened early this week was a major power outage early Monday morning. I was in the bathroom when the lights went out. They came back on but very dim, then my generator took over. Voila Apparently had something to do with a high voltage transmission system transformer or something. At first they were saying that our power would not be restored until mid afternoon but then they said they were trying to see if they could reroute it. Did come back on in a little over two hours so they must have been able to reroute it through a different grid. I had been fasting for the past 14 hours and was going into town to get that lab work done. When I walked out the door, you could hear the sound of generators going in the neighborhood from those of us who have them. But all the way into Gaylord, the power was out and the traffic lights were not working. I only had five to go through when I get up near town. Fortunately drivers were practice the 4 way stop rule for the most part. I was beginning to get worried that maybe the power outage also affected the hospital and that 14 hours of fasting I had been for naught. But that side of town has power so it was OK, whew.
Velda, you asked back on my General Talk thread on wood crafts, if my woodcrafts last from year to year. Yes they do unless the wood warps or something. Being that they are seasonal themed, they are only out for a few short months or weeks as is the case during the holidays. Then they are stored either in my basement or shed. Sometimes after a while, I get tired of the same ones and I will put them out by the road and give them away or sometimes they get thrown out because they are getting a beat up looking. I have two of them right now that I am redoing because the poly that I put on them last year got the white areas on a couple, all yellow and blotchy. So I am sanding them down and I am going to redo them. I may change the patterns for something different. I go on my computer and I look for printable Christmas coloring pages or something like that, that I can run off on my printer and then transfer them to the wood.
Time to get moving here. Run the vac and go Christmas theme page hunting. Also I need to put varnish on the other Christmas decorations that I have done, so that I can get them assembled. I’m hoping to put the stuff out later on Thanksgiving weekend if the weather cooperates. Have a nice day everyone.
