Monday November 14

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday November 14

Postby Redetotry » Mon Nov 14, 2022 10:58 am

Good Morning, It is a cold, sunny morning here but there is a chance of rain and snow this evening. I wish the transition from fall to winter had been a bit more gradual but winter had other plans. The weather seems to have increased Pippa's appetite and and energy level. I'm grooming her a little each day. She is good on the table for the clippers but is squirmy when I brush her out. I'm just 'taking a little off the top' as the saying goes she was looking like a woolly worm.
I need to make several phone calls but Mondays are always so busy everywhere I may wait for tomorrow. Yesterday I bought and froze homemade apple dumplings from a local orchard who makes wonderful desserts. I was very tempted to try them but saving for Thanksgiving. It was a pick up and delivery operation :). My friend lives close to the orchard so she picked them up and met me half way. We had to laugh as it was on a country road, saying people probably thought there was something illegal going on. I took her some pecans and she had also brought me fresh eggs from her hens and pumpkin bread. Friends are so wonderful.
I hope everyone has a good day and the week ahead has some fun times.

Afternoon Bj, sunny, breezy and cold on the island. I agree, wish winter would have eased its way here. Waiting foe Amazon email that package delivered. Tomorrow I have a No pickup scheduled early because of rain and freezing temps. Don’t like driving on ice. Grocery prices are unbelievable so will rethink dinners. No exciting news just didn’t want you sitting here all alone. Lol. Be safe

Morning BJ and Shirl. Meeting friends for a home cooked dinner tonight. Otherwise being a bum. I'm watching a Christmas movie on Hulu. It's got people in it that were from Hallmark but so far I'm not impressed with the acting or more. Just looked it up and it's from the new GAC. I can't figure out why the same actors etc aren't the same quality. Maybe it's just a dud movie. But it means I'm here and not paying much attention lol Just a lazy day until I leave for dinner.

ALmost out of propane, so going into Overton to get some and pick up a few groceries. Still in 30s at night here, but sunny days in upper 50s and 60s.

Just at dusk last night, a big herd (14-15) of male bighorn sheep came into the middle of the campground and grazed on the bushes and grasses there. Check out my video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hab2YNb2XL8

Good morning!

Judy snuck in - wow on the bighorns!

BJ and Shirl, I agree - would have liked a little more fall! I think maybe Sheila wins the lowest temps so far? Beth, I just talked with a friend yesterday about the Christmas movies. Her description of one was that it had a more of a plot and not so much 'froo froo' (sp) - was about an undercover nanny in London. Shirl, the kids do the major cooking for Thanksgiving, but this year they did give me a list of things to bring. :) I might be sneaky and ask them to come pick the food up on Wednesday after work in case it snows so I don't have to transport it. Cheryl, I had the Lance camper with that big step to the dinette. I bought a small stool that is now my footrest under my desk.

Monica and I went to a craft fair, Joann Fabric and Hobby Lobby Saturday. Was fun to be out and seeing, not buying much, Christmas decor/gifts plus time together. Monica did shop and finished buying for students and coworkers. I'm moving the Slingshot out of the garage to a covered parking spot so clearing out the few boxes I had in the garage. They are still in the car so guess I should bring them in. Kids had to find a spot to store their boat.

Everyone stay well!

Good afternoon. Had a busy afternoon but was a good one. Met with the Pulmonologist today and we went over my CT scan together. She said the nodules that were seen in August were most likely from the infection. That was good news. She wants to see the copy of the one I will get in February just to compare. I really liked her, she took so much time with me getting a history and giving me a physical. Asking very pertinent questions. So the outcome was good so far. I am feeling 100% and have gained 15 lbs, so now it is time to slow my roll a bit LOL So far I have lucked out with both my Internal Medicine and my Pulmonologist.

Chilly morning, was 30 out and foggy. Sun came out just before noon and now is our high 51. No rain scheduled for the rest of the week so might get out and clean up more of my yard. Not sure what to fix for dinner, I am thinking chicken wings sound kind of good so that might be on the menu. Judy how cool to see all those Bighorns up close and personal. Beth getting a home cooked meal LOL Anita getting ready for Thanksgiving as are so many others. I am thinking it is time to shampoo my carpets again, but have to do it in sections. Darn big house. Was supposed to go south to Medford for my infusion but it was scheduled for the day before Thanksgiving so I am changing it as I dont want to drive in all that traffic. So will just make it after the holiday.

I'm glad I don't have temperatures like Sheila has. It warmed up a little today. It was 69 and it's still 61 and raining. I finally got Sugar to come inside. I don't know why she wants to be outside when it's raining. The weather man said we might get 5 inches of rain. There is a lot to come through but I don't think we will get that much. About the only thing I did today was clean the refrigerator in the motorhome. I washed the throw rugs so need to mop the floor.

I called Sugar's prescription in to Walmart Friday because I need it before I can leave. I got a text on Friday that the medicine has to be ordered and another one today that it had to be ordered. I know it has to be ordered that's why I called on Friday.

I'm not getting packed very fast. It's going to be very cold this weekend and I kind of wish I hadn't signed up. The numbers attending have dropped from 35 to 25.

I had received a call early this morning about my aunt's having low oxygen and a bad cough, and them wanting to call 911 to take her to hospital, but then doctor happened to arrive and checked her out and decided no 911. So, off to town I went. Just got there and another three calls telling me they decided to send her to hospital because oxygen level went down again. Anyway, had a dozen calls to various medical people and the other POA and finally the hospital staff, giving my permission for her to be treated. She apparently has the flu, not COVID, and they are checking to eliminate pneumonia. Luckily, she is behaving herself and not complaining, probably because she is so tired. They will no doubt admit her for at least overnight and are giving her antibiotics and oxygen because her lungs are not working 100%.

Those bighorn sheep, by the way, were very big adult males in prime condition because this is rutting season. Some of them were positively chubby, compared to other times of the year, and they were occasionally butting each other over stuff to eat. One of their favorites is creosote bush, and if you have ever rubbed a couple of leaves between your fingers, you know it smells very strongly of burning rubber!! I cannot imagine eating that stuff. There has been a lot of rain this summer and in the last week or so, so there is lots of stuff to eat, and it shows in their condition. Nice to see such healthy animals. Ewes and partly grown lambs, I am told, are hiding out in the mountains and rocks.

Usually, very small groups are hanging around the campground here at Valley of Fire, and this is the first time I have ever seen so many at once. Camp hosts agreed it was really unusual, but apparently rams are hanging in a large group to show off their testosterone levels!! (They don't have cars with big engines and noisy mufflers to drive.)

Judy I love those bighorn sheep. How wonderful that you were paying attention and saw them and videod them! Sorry about your aunt.

Home from dinner. My portion sizes I kept small including the 2 pieces of different cakes I ate. Lol

Karen I'm so glad you've been gaining, but I agree with you to show it down now that you've got some meat back on those bones.

Tomorrow dermatologist. I have to figure out what to wear that's easy to get out of and back on. It's cooler temps but I'll still probably wear a sundress.

Anita I haven't seen that one. But the last Hallmark one I watched was more of a movie than just a Christmas one. Except, of course, that you always know the outcome. I'm ok with that as I watch them because they're not deep.

Today was crazy busy at work all day! A very stressful 9 hour day! Not typical of a Monday. They are usually slow days. Things are crazy at work right now. This weeks schedule has been changed about 6 times so far. They are shorthanded at both salons (new people not showing up or working out very well). I didn't know who I was working with this morning and no one showed up by 9am, so I texted my old manager. I guess they changed the schedule again overnight and the new manager was called at 9 to come in on his day off. He is quickly finding out that when you are a manager, you are pretty much on-call 24-7! I will be so glad to be done with that job! My back is killing me tonight so I am now laying on my bed on the heating pad.

Had a client today who is a snowbird renting a park model at another park but is wanting to buy one. The problem is the park he is at doesn't allow dogs and he and his wife want to get a dog since their other one died recently. I told him I am selling my place and we love dogs here. He has seen this park before and loved it so he is very interested in seeing my place. He said they wouldn't move in if they bought it this year since they are committed to the other place until March and it would be fine if I wanted to stay and pay rent for a month or so after they bought it. I gave him my phone number. So we'll see...

I am hearing banging noises outside :? There is no wind so not sure what that could be...

Tomorrow morning is putters golf and then getting back to working on the final cleaning around here. I think the real estate agent is coming over sometime tomorrow too. Wish this place looked a little better tho. Gotta take out the trash before golf. Didn't do anything on Saturday after lunch. I was exhausted and just needed a relaxing day to get rested. I work 9 hour days on Wednesday and Thursday this week so won't get anything done then. Am behind on laundry too.

Am going to bed early tonight...have a good one!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

this year Hallmark Movies and Mysteries has done a new movie each week and typically you do know the ending except with this one I wish I knew the name of it perhaps I can figure it out it's called Christmas Bedtime Stories...it does have a surprise ending so if you can find it do so...
went to the store today did the pasta was really good makes a lot probably away to cut it down but not quite sure how the easiest way would be... it was good though... will have to make it when I have a larger amount to dinner than mom and myself...
she just took a tumble but ok she seems to think she is at times a human vacuum cleaner... so was trying to pick up the "salt" that got drug in from the deck not sure how to get her not too she is so slow bending down to pick it up that it actually hurts watching her... feet are swollen again so guess I had better call the dr tomorrow hopefully he will just call in a prescription for the water pill... she goes to the bathroom so much now don't know what it will be on a water pill...
so between scriptures, going to the store two at that and fixing supper really didn't do anything...
the weather app said that we have a chance of snow fall so went to look and see the percentage never went above 10% son not going to happen and the temps was way low so again not going to happen...
although we could use it... so badly
saw an old class mate at the store he recognized me I didn't him... :?
should bale on this movie and go fold laundry .... niece picked it up yesterday and returned it tonight when they came... but I am into this movie not that I haven't seen it often but you know it's fun to watch
we had visitors on the back deck not sure what it was suspect deer but not sure...
wish we had a trail cam or even a ring or something of that nature...
that sounds promising Barbie
that was a lot of big horns... they did look great
yes it is time to think about Thanksgiving
was at the store looking at pastry's for desert and noticed a bag of marshmallows not Kraft!!!! freshly made for the mere amount of 11.95 wow!!!
have a great day

Funny story...because today was super crazy busy at work and by 3pm I hadn't had my lunch yet, I mentioned that to my customer and she asked "have you at least been drinking?" I told her "not yet, but I'm sure thinking about it!" Lol!
