Friday October 7

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday October 7

Morning All, Ian finally stopped circling this area and moved out to sea. We now have sunshine and lovely temperatures. Karen, I had a taco salad. Thanks for the reminder I have a pork roast in the freezer. Irmi the lettuce is looking good and sugar snap peas are starting to climb. I got a flu shot and didn’t even get a sore spot. Covid booster next week. I’m dealing with life’s challenges along with everyone else. Be safe

Last night I had one of the Meetup meals in Lafayette. We went to a small seafood restaurant. I had shrimp tacos and they were so good. Each taco had 4 big shrimp and I got 3. I could only eat one and the eggplant fries. The restaurant is kind of far for me but I will be going again. Lafayette has a lot of small restaurants in the strip malls all over town. The grill we went to the last time is in a strip mall.

Barbie, I saw the picture of the dust on Facebook. I'm glad we don't have that here. Last night coming home I ran into some fog. Guess it's that time of year again. I hate that it is getting dark so early.

Sheila, I feel for you taking care of your mother. It is not easy. It's a shame you can't get more help. I answered your message. I don't know if anyone remembers Joella but she passed away in June.

I have gotten almost zero done today. It's been a week since I got my booster so the next time I go to Walmart I will see if I can get my flu shot.

Good morning to all. Well got in a 3 1/4 mile walk in the Wetlands this morning. Didn't realize we'd walked that far until we both got tired and were surprised we'd been walking so long. Also Bill and I got our Covid (new) shots this morning. Hope I don't have a reaction to it like I did to the flu one.
Little by little we are getting ready to leave in a week for the winter. Gathering things up to put in RV and doing cleaning as cupboards and closets get emptied.
At least when we bring the RV home to load it the temperatures are supposed to be in low 80's - thank goodness.
Looks like all our prescriptions are going through for the vacation override. which will get us to the end of March.
Every one have a good day and a safe one if you are on the road.

Good morning. Nothing much going on here today. Pork roast in the crockpot. Getting ready to find something for lunch. My chore for today is: I bought a bag of squeakers to replace in Emma's toys. She is not one bit destructive with her toys but she does bite on the squeakers to make the noise and they put cheapy type inside so they puncture easily. So I bought more heavy duty ones to replace them. Then I remembered I dont have any sewing supplies anymore. Lost in the fire. So ordered a small sewing kit off Amazon.

I am jealous Ann is going to be heading to Mexico. I miss going there each year. Shirl I need to make a taco salad too. I buy the premade bowls at Walmart. Now I need some salsa and some sour cream. I have the rest of the stuff so sometime this week it is on my radar. We are going to be in the 80's all week. Dang where the heck is FALL?

Hope you had all your windows closed, Barbie. I got caught in one once while I was driving. I pulled over in a small town and thought the dark cloud was rain!! Just sand and dirt!

And Sheila, what DOES your mother eat?? Maybe you and family members can send some to them. Also, can you just go out and buy her a pair of the cheaper bearing aids? I don’t think they require fitting.

I am taking a break driving to Cape Disappointment on mouth of Columbia river. Got my tires checked and filled with air yesterday. They were low because last time pressure was adjusted was in Denver on a hot day. I am now at sea level in cold places.

Been busy all day going thru cabinets and drawers in my living room. Got a pile for the thrift shop and some for storage. Still have the rest of my gourd stuff to sort thru but everything else in there is pretty much done. I found cassette tapes and VHS tapes...

Finally was able to get my gourd doll posted on FB and on the Craft thread here. Got quite a few likes on FB but very few comments so far, so maybe it isn't as good as I think it is. :? Well, anyways, I like it.

I better get back to working on the living room...
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Karen, I didn't know you could buy the squeakers for dog toys, not that I need any. Sugar is not interested in anything that she can't eat. My son had a Boston Terrier when he was little that could take them out so fast. We still talk about Butch. I had made some catnip toys for the cats but the catnip must have worn out. I need to buy some catnip and fill them up again. I haven't seen Annie hauling Foxy around lately.

Ty somehow gets every squeaker out within minutes. If he manages (and usually does) without also removing too much stuffing, the toy will survive without squeaking and he's happy.

Barbie, that's a gourd I'd consider purchasing if I saw it anywhere. And that's saying a lot since I don't have room for anything.

My sister and bil got their flu and latest Covid shots at the same time this week. Neither of them have had any reaction. I meant to call to get an appt for my time of next week for Ty's annual physical and shots, then see if the drug store can take me on the same day for my shots.

Time for me to get to bed. I'm really looking forward to no alarm clocks, etc again coming up soon.

Editing to add the high today was 70. Low overnight tonight will be low to mid 30's.

coming back to Jackson on Weds saw lots of fall colors... love to see the bright yellow amidst the pine trees... really pretty
we had a friend who is also pretty prominent in the town and state pass away the other day... they were having a gathering tonight totally forgot about it had thought about going but was worn out after going and having the rest of my test done then to the store and post office and dropped a payment off at a utility then had to bring it all into the house remember when they used to take the groceries out to the car for you??? I remember thinking sure wish he could come home and take my stuff into the house...I still wish that even though they no longer take the groceries out for you... I get so winded that I've taken to using the motorize cart...then had to cook supper so made hamburger's reheated some fries and cucumbers as well as tomatoes onions and lettuce for the burgers right... I made mom's burger smaller and didn't give her a bun as she typically ends up not eating it... she ate half a burger some cucumber and a few fries...
I guess it's the old adage you can lead the horse to water but can't make them drink it...
it's funny though the way we do things differently ... I let mom do what she can brother /and wife tend to do more for her usually she will take her plate to the sink and I for the most part let her if she is in the kitchen in time I'll give her the dishes to set the table .. they will take her plates to the sink usually pour her milk although I will pour her cereal just simply because it's awkward for her to handle.... a gal of milk is impossible for her to pour from so I put it into a 1/2 gal container and she can pour from it
tonight in a text they asked if I'd gotten the water bill taken I said yes and in the mail today was the new bill so we will need to subtract what she paid from the total.. and get that sent in guess it was over looked last month... they suggest that I write the check and she sign it... I maybe could see it for a large amount with lots of writing but not the normal bills... oh well we all do things differently
I only have a few more inches of making knots... will be glad when that part of the Swedish Weave is done then all I have is the sides and it's a simple hem stitch but by hand...I want to finish it before I get to much into my granddaughter's afghan ... and get back to the new Swedish Weave... at one point I had 5 projects going on it was too much so am going to try to limit my projects to two or three... two should be done soon... I need to look and see if I have more yarn for the scarf if I don't I will finish it where it's at... I want to fringe it and need what yarn I have to make the fringe unless I have a bit more... then will make it a couple inches longer...
you all have a good day
