Good Morning. First Dsy of fall and it sure feels like it. Dramatic change from the beautiful 70 degree weather we have been having these past few days. Cold front came through yesterday afternoon and with it, some cold north wind. Current temp is 48° with a real feel of 41°. Cold rain coming down too. Only going into the 5’s today. Wet, raw dsy thry say today. I’m so will be pretty much in the 50s for the next week at least. May even have some light frost possible by tomorrow morning. I mowed my yard, I saw the entrance and cleaned off the walking path the other day so that is done and I brought in her flowers that I am going to order a winner with the exception of two pots of mums which I think are going to get brought in before this day is over. Everything in my yard is put away for the winter so I have nothing to do out there now except wait for the leaves to come down.

So today I am going to clean the house this morning and then this afternoon I am going to start packing and organizing my stuff to take along next week. Definitely will be packing clothes for colder weather as it is only going to be in the low to mid 50s up there. Time to haul out the fleece pants and flannel shirts.Then tomorrow I can go to town to the bank and the store and a couple of other places, gas up the truck unpack it and until we leave on Sunday.

Biopsy results on the two spots on my face came back as Basel Cell, so will have those removed in November. Piper has a UTI, so on antibiotics for that. I think the Dasoquinfor Molly’s arthritis is starting to take effect. So the three of us are plodding along here..

Sheila I’m sorry to hear about your SIL’s fall. He certainly was lucky. Hope all goes well for him. O’Sharon glad your painters were able to start. Hope they are able to finish or did finish, before this cold weather that we are having to gets your way. Course you probably won’t get the rainy weather because you are not under the influence of big lakes, like we are here. Once the cold air starts moving over those Great lakes, we get Lake effect rain showers this time of year, Which of course will transition to Lake effect snow as we get into winter.

Judy, I got up at 5 AM and watched the entire funeral, with exception of the hour I had to run up to town to Chiropractor and back. As they said, it was the most spectacular thing we have ever seen and probably will never see again. Definitely history being made. It truly was a funeral fit for a Queen. Everything moved with a precision that was unbelievable, considering the huge amount of people involved and the time frame in which it occurred. Was watching living history, because of the traditions that were passed down for centuries, that all we did was read about them in our history books and also some things that we have never seen before. I don’t know who the main feed was for this, I’m assuming maybe BBC. But it was an excellent job, as the cameras were in the right places all over. I watched it on CNN and they did an excellent job covering it.

So I guess I should get up and get out of this bed and have a bite of breakfast or just stay put and go back to sleep for a little bit. You’re only reason I am awake is because I got woke up by a couple for kids who wanted to go out for some potty calls. Good morning, cloudy and cool out right now 51, feels good. Fall is my favorite season. Sweatshirt weather in the morning, shorter sleeves in the afternoon/ High today will be 75. This week tho we warm up to the 80's but that is doable.

I need to go get my labs and chest xray today. They had a long wait yesterday as they were short staffed LOL like everywhere so I opted to come back today. It is just follow up labs so I have time.

My neighbor Jerry goes for his Pet scan today. Starts radiation on Monday for a tumor either on or close to his spine. Hope it helps. His 2 daughters will be here today so that is good. I havent been able to help him much the last few months as I was pretty sick myself. He has good neighbors taking him to appts, and shopping for him so that is good. I am feeling very good this week. Just hope it keeps it up. I am making sure I am eating and the best part is if I eat I dont have to drink that Ensure (blah) Also doing a little more activity each day. I got pretty immobile for a few months so this is good I just cant over do it.

Shelia glad you had a good time on your cruise. Funny how when we go on a trip or vacation we come back so tired ha ha You started out behind tho due to being sick so glad you are bouncing back.

Good morning and welcome to fall. Today certainly is living up to fall’s reputation! Rain, wind, cloudy and temps falling. Sue, trees around my property have been losing leaves for awhile. Dried up dead ones but still lots of green on the trees. Pretty typical the last few years. The painters worked yesterday until the rain started about 4:30 and are making progress. Of course today nothing will get done since we’ve had rain earlier. They’re at the mercy of Mother Nature! They have a long way to go yet! But what they have done is an improvement! Yesterday I went to an open house at my daughter in law’s office so got to visit with her for a few minutes. Then back to town and got my Covid shot for the new variant. Other then a sore arm that’s about the only reaction I’ve had so far. And hope that’s all I have! So today I’ll just try to get caught up with inside chores. Karen, good to hear your appetite is coming back. Shirl, a lady in the apartment building next to me has been growing a little garden on the fire escape but looked at her plants this morning and they are looking sad. She had a nice tomato ripening but looks like she picked it the other day and don’t see any others so she’ll probably be clearing the plants out and taking her pots in. Been fun watching it all summer. I’m still waiting for a callback from the furnace guy. Called again this morning and left a message, it’s been about a month that I’ve been trying to get a callback from him. So frustrating but he knows steam heat systems so it’s difficult to find someone else. Wonders of wonders, he just called back. Apparently he’s run into a problem with a new install so he’s been dealing with that. I understand but thanked him for at least finally getting back to me. So a step in the right direction! Time to get something done around here, I suppose. Have a good day and take time to enjoy yourself!

Morning All, Fall arrives on the island tomorrow. Temps in low 80’s today with t-storm but dropping to low 70’s tomorrow. I am so ready for cooler temps. I had an umbrella shielding the lettuce plants from the blazing sun yesterday. I sent an email to management to see if they would be interested in having a Plant Swap in the pavilion next month. I am going to plant two pups from the Bromelaid plant to hopefully swap. Maybe some young person will be willing to wait two years for it to bloom. Lol That’s my itty bitty. Be safe

What a mixed up morning! About 2 hours ago I heard the scalping mower start up and go right past my bedroom window, so I jumped out of bed and drove my car down to my friends driveway. (They still haven't scalped her yard yet ). Got back to the house and the mower was gone! Only did one short swath and left.

We got a notice that the power would be out today from 11am to 4pm so I turned up the air at 10:40 and turned my curling brush on to use before 11. Well the power went off at 10:45. So I quickly used the brush on my hair before it cooled off. Then at 11:15 the power came back on. I am so confused! I can now hear the mower down the street. I just hope they don't decide to go back and do my friends yard where my car is parked before I go to work later.

Yesterday I tackled the kitchen! I went thru every drawer and cupboard and got rid of a whole pile of stuff, including lots of food. Have my car loaded for the thrift store and some things to bring to work to see if my coworkers want anything. I have tomorrow off and plan to tackle the bedroom. That will be a big project as I have 3 cabinets full of books and about 8 boxes of books under the bed to go thru.

The mower is now back in my yard. Will have a mess to clean up tomorrow. They do a pretty good job of cleaning up afterward but my deck will be filthy. I did cover most stuff on there with a tarp so that should help some.

Glad things are cooling off for some of you. We are still under 100* and less humid so that is good for here.

Sheila, I can't wait to hear more about your cruise! I have never been on one.

It's still summer here. My thermometer says it's 100. Yesterday the local tv station was talking about an old record high being broken. I was going to go get gas in the truck but it's too hot. Still watching the possible tropical storm. They still can't predict the direction beyond Cuba. The neighbors booked a motel room just in case. I keep forgetting to get some of the big bottles of water to put in the freezer. And a case of water to put in the car. Sugar drinks a lot of water.

Sheila, I thought the cruises to Alaska used smaller ships. That sounded like a lot of people. Some of my camping friends like to cruise. I think some are leaving next week. I wouldn't be leaving on a cruise with a hurricane in the Gulf.

My sister is wanting to go to the lake. Maybe we will have a month between too hot and too cold to go fishing.

Sounds like you really enjoyed your cruise Sheila even with the virgin drinks. I'd probably do the same.

Fall temps came to Southern Indiana too. Almost a 30° drop in temps since yesterday. Mid 60s when I woke up this morning. Sweatshirt needed for morning walk. Mid 70s now and Punkin and I are both sitting in the sun because the breeze is pretty cool.

Well Fall arrived right on schedule here today yay! It has been around 97 all week with feel like temps around 103 but overnight fall arrived and it is only 72 today and supposed to stay that way for a week at least.
Karen I couldn't drink the Ensure I hope you are definitely on the mend. I'm still trying to build my strength up after losing so much but I have gained most of my weight back. Martha I hope it cools off there and that the storms doesn't come your way.
I just took Pippa for a walk and there was too much going on, carpenters at house to the north and a BIG dog visiting at the house on the south. I held her but she was trembling while I talked (at a distance) to the lady with the big dog, no wonder Pippa was scared. She said it had been in a fight with a pit bull at day care and now was very aggressive so she is sending it to an intense training facility for two weeks. I decided we had been out long enough! Our street is usually very quiet and has no sidewalks so everyone just walks in the road there is so little traffic.
It is tIme for Emma to be getting home from her 'school' so things will get crazy around here. I hope everyone has a good evening.

Can’t say much right now, but DIL was assaulted on Tuesday by special needs student. He tripped her, then kept hitting her on head. She has concussion and a lot of bruises and is resting at home. It took four staff members 20 minutes to subdue him. They were also hit and one bitten. Parents and police were called. Board is deciding what to do.

Oh Judy, I'm wishing your dil and the others speedy recoveries. That's scary and sad.

Wow! Judy, that is awful! There is a lot of emotional trauma from that kind of thing besides the physical. Obviously, that boy needs to be removed from the school before he does that again or worse!

Just got home from work. Short shift today, only 4 hours.

Gonna take it easy tonight and watch TV, since tomorrow will be a busy day with more cleaning and downsizing in my bedroom. I want to get all the inside done by the time it gets cooler outside, and then start out there. Altho I will have to run the leaf blower tomorrow to get all the debris blown off the deck and patios. I saw the guy come by today after scalping with an industrial-sized blower and it looked like a tornado was coming thru with big dust clouds as high as the house! It made more of a mess than it cleaned up! It blew the cover right off my bike and blew my faux flower pots over (I have them filled with rocks to keep them from blowing over). I think a regular leaf blower would have done the job better. Glad that is all over now tho.

Also have a haircut here to do tomorrow evening. Haven't heard from Dave about another day he could install the microwave. Will have to send him a text.

When I first heard about the assault, I wondered what they would do because he was a special needs kid, but upon reflecting, I think they have to remove him from the school, besides just suspending him. I got to thinking that he must be very disturbed because they said he was laughing throughout the assault. Also, I thought that if he was so violent, I am guessing this was not new. I wonder what his history is. Plus, if I were a parent of another student, I would NOT want my child in the same classroom or even the same school hallway with this kid!! And you can bet this will get around with the other students and their parents. I am guessing he was adult size since it was so hard to subdue him.

So, what are the options for a kid like this? My son says a private school, but I wonder what kind would take him? Maybe an institution for kids with mental problems? I feel for his parents, but also the parents of all the other kids, as well as the teachers. Anyway, my DIL has already had some other traumatic experiences as an administrator, so this is going to be hard on her and the other staff who were hurt.

Anyway, I had a long drive today and barely made it to my new campground in WA before dark. This place is directly on the ocean, so it was very cold and windy, but I had to fill up with water and then back into my spot. Got all the shades drawn, and it is cozy inside, and warm with the little electric heater going.

Oh, and congratulations, Barbie, on being so ruthless about tossing stuff!!

was planning on visiting with Li today but she was having issues with her Texas house... if we don't leave tomorrow might approach her about tomorrow sometime...we will see as dd hasn't decided for sure when she will be leaving... some of the paper work hasn't come through on her house and she thought she was suppose to get possession of it immediately but that typically doesn't happen...she told them that if the closing doesn't happen till next week that would be ok with her as it would save her 200 dollars doing a remote signature... so we will see...
went to my friends and had a good visit one of her daughters came over so was able to deliver two afghans this week so happy to have been able to do that... there was a creamery that my granddaughter wanted to take us too... it was beyond yummy... #2 dd got a banana split was so pretty a shame to dig into it but she did as did I they used real whipped cream... can't get any better than that...
so back to the ship and the cruise
living and working and growing up in a tourist oriented town I've heard people swear up and down that they have seen it all in reference to GTNP or Yellowstone...and all they have done is drive down the main road that said I so have not seen anything of Alaska!!!! we stopped at Ketchican, Sitka, Juneau and Victoria BC I felt like each one was so different the first was Ketchican to me it felt more like it was similar to what it was like years ago...house built on stilts in a lot of areas it gets a lot of rain in a year... I want to say 200 inches but is that possible??? perhaps I've misremembered yes they had gift stores with your typical tourist stuff found a stuffed animal almost bought as well as a bear with a cardinal that I almost bought instead I talked myself into waiting until another town.... hmmm should have bought did get fudge though and we saw 3 seals playing with a salmon in a canal until it was no longer playing and the salmon became supper... we had tickets to a lumber jack show which was so much fun to watch
then at Sitka we all more or less went our own way son and his wife had gotten a excursion to somewhere not even sure what they saw #1 dd and her husband went hoofing it as fast as they could to falcon rehabilitation center then to a museum and got on the shuttle to the ship before the last shuttle and they were still late but the ship knew that the shuttles were running late so of course waited... and #3 dd and I took the scooter and went to town...this town was first started by some natives can't recall the name and then the Russians came in sorta took over so the tribes somewhat backed off but then there was a very short war and Russia left but they left there influence in buildings ect dd went to find the Russian cemetery I wondered the street literately they blocked off the street to motorized vehicles went looking for my stuffed animal and bear could find lots and lots of the nesting dolls... but no stuffed animals or bears... bought some Russian dumplings dd got ahead of me then and in line for 50 min. I want to say it was a long long wait I got in line but she didn't invite me to join her... she doesn't feel right having people jump the line even if it's mom to her... so waited a very long time... I am so glad I got the scooter...would never have made it with out it.. finally back to the ship... next stop was Juneau when I posted on FB that I was going on a cruise to Alaska a close high school classmate said I needed to go to the Manderhall Glacier and then her daughter who still lives in posted that she would be happy to take us around so all but my son and his wife did so they took a bus excursion around the town even saw them at the glacier didn't see bears which Misty was surprised that we didn't enjoyed our time with her stopped at a diner to get breakfast wanted sourdough pancakes!!! and they didn't have them... oh well I can make that at home ... then back to the dock dd wanted to go on the tram so said good bye to Misty and I went back to the ship and they went on the tram... they didn't want me to go up as they were afraid that the quick accent wouldn't be good for me... as it turned out they were packed into the tram car like sardines one of the things they wanted to see up there was already closed for the season so they weren't happy with that ride ... hind sight is 50/50 we would have been better off sticking with Misty a bit longer oh well water under the bridge...and still no stuffed animal or bear

Judy, I worked for the state in an adolescent unit of a state hospital many years ago. It's not uncommon in an adolescent unit, to have boys or girls act out as their hormones are changing. I was assaulted, more than once. In one instance, one of the other big boys, protected me and helped subdue that one acting out. It's a very tough job working with these young people as their bodies transform to adulthood. Their county and or state will have to figure out best placement for treatment and school, along with medication adjustment. I saw 3 staff put put on permanent disability the year I worked there! Yet, the staff cared very much for these young people. It's also very tough on parents and siblings.
