Fantastic Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Fantastic Friday

Postby asirimarco » Fri Sep 16, 2022 9:38 am

Good morning to all from beautiful Las Vegas, cool 74 degrees, low humidity, no rain in sight and just breezy not windy. Who could ask for more. And we will be cool for at least another week. It is so nice to be able to open the doors for most of the day. Getting up to about 90 in the afternoon.
I got the strong flu shot a couple of weeks ago - wow. Yesterday was the first day I felt really good. My arm is still a little sore. The night after the shot I was sick. The following days just no energy or desire to do anything. A couple of days ago another night of being hot/cold and stomach upset. Never had flu shot bother me before. Glad it is over.
Working on a couple of projects. I made a Christmas tree wall hanging for us and am now working on a wall hanging based on a photo I took in Mexico. And of course a jig saw puzzle.
Been reading about every ones doings. Hope every one is getting better health wise and RV fixing wise. Seems like there is always something.
Take care, enjoy the days.

Good morning Carol and all who follow. It's a lovely morning here at 71° with rain predicted by Sunday. Keeping fingers crossed on that!
Off to Curves then son Chris has a Dr appointment across town. Leftovers for supper!
Carol, what is he "strong flu shot"? I'd like to avoid the symptoms you got!
Have a good weekend.

I haven't heard of the strong flu shot either. I had heard that some doctor said to get the flu and new booster together. Not going to do that. A friend called the other day to tell me the local hospital was getting the new booster. I wasn't going to get one before my camping trip.

I got to the campground yesterday afternoon. It's a big parking lot with no shade. The sites are all concrete but not wide enough. They have a nice lazy river and swimming pool and a big bar area with music on Saturday. I hope I can hear the music from my campsite because I don't do crowds. We had about 12 show up last night and it was cool enough for a camp fire. My computer says it's 91 but it feels hotter than that. My air conditioner hasn't quit since it started this morning. I went to the lazy river for about an hour this morning but didn't want to get too much sun. My little fan has become Sugar's fan. She likes to lay in front of it.

Cheryl, I'm not having any camper problems right now but I might want to go to the next Grand Design rally. Glad you got your problems taken care of.

Karen, hope you continue to improve and feel better. I got my “strong” flu shot on Wednesday. Thankfully I’ve had no negative reaction to it - not even a sore arm. Next Tuesday I’ll get my next Covid shot. I’m making sure to get these vaccinations because my daughter has invited me to join her on a trip to Italy and Greece to tour historical and archaeological sites. All this will happen before my ablation procedure on October 27. The trip will help a lot to keep my mind off of it. I wanted to major in archaeology in college but I knew I would get married and have children and decided archaeology wouldn’t fit in. My kids heard me talk about different archaeological sites and discoveries all their lives so my daughter has offered me a wonderful experience for the two of us to see some spectacular sites together. Now I just need Tesla to deliver the new car in the next 2 weeks. :o

I Googled 'strong flu shot' and I'm thinking it's the shot for seniors. I've never had a problem with it. Carol, have you had reactions previously? Pretty sure BFF got flu and Covid booster at the same time without any issue except tiredness. I meant to get my flu shot this week, but will now have to do it Monday or Tuesday as I leave on Wednesday. Sandi, snuck in with news of her getting her flu shot! Good to hear!

Happy belated birthday, Velda! Martha, I like the idea of a lazy river! Cheryl, I laughed at your TCL tv opinion because I just put one in my office two days ago. :) Want to share why you don't like it? Mine will get a workout tomorrow with college football games. Karen, so glad you are feeling better! Sandi, what a marvelous trip you will have!

Today the smoke is gone and the sun is out! Our temps have dropped with 70s and 80s. Great riding weather, but I'm getting ready for trip and then will be gone! Poor timing by me.

Oh Sandi I think that will be an awesome trip for the two of you. I know you have had strained relationship issues over the years and this just sounds very positive.

Belated birthday Velda I am sure you had a great day. The strong flu shot is just the one they have been giving for years to seniors. I have never had a flu reaction. Anita I have a couple of TCL Roku tv's and no issues. I sure know I wont buy another Samsung tv. I bought 2 of them when I moved into this house then I find out Samsung wont let you download certain apps. A couple apps I like are not available on Samsung so I invested in a couple of ROKU sticks, problem solved. I dont have cable so I only stream so it was important to be able to pick and choose my apps.

Yesterday was the first day I actually felt good and didnt have issues breathing. Today is another good day but I am coughing a tad bit more but have still been hungry and eating.

Beautiful day here today 73 with a light breeze. No rain here predicted.

Karen your appetite being back for a couple days now is awesome. I hope this is just the start of your improvement.

Sandi, this sounds like a dream vacation for a couple reasons. Time with your daughter and how much you love archaeology. I'll be awaiting pictures on your return.

Nothing more to report here. Still vacillating on returning or not next year. I hate thinking the decision won't come until the owners come at the end of the season, but that's a good chance.

Well, I got a late start today on getting stuff done but, even tho I lost my list of things I needed to do, I still managed to get quite a bit done. I was finally able to get my laundry done! Yay! Got the app to work for me. Got the trash out, and covered up the stuff on my deck with a tarp for when they scalp the lawn sometime in the next week. I cleaned out a lot of long expired stuff from my fridge and freezer, got rid of a bunch of PJ's I either didn't like or didn't fit me well, (I had WAY too many  !!), and undies (also way too many!). Cleaned the aquarium too.

I worked on the gourd but had a couple issues. I was trying to squeeze out some glitter glue from a small plastic bottle and the whole nozzle flew off from the pressure and the glue went all over me and everything else! :o Quite the mess! Also the suede cape I made lost a couple of fringes so I need to make another one with a backing and wider fringes so they don't come off. Got all the holes drilled so once I get the new cape made and add the feathers, she will be done!

Did a couple haircuts this evening too.

I saw the fluffy black and white kitty today, the one that had the bad ear. Well, his ear looks really raw and bad again. I put out some food for him but the other cats ran over to eat it first. I moved it over to the other side of the house where he was hiding under the neighbors RV but later I checked and he never ate it. The ants had a field day with it tho! I feel bad for that kitty. He really needs to get fixed and get some medical attention, but I can never trap him. There hasn't been any TNR clinics for quite awhile now. Not sure why.

My electric bill was pretty high for last month, not surprising tho, with the high heat and humidity. Should come down now for this month hopefully. I am thinking the "dry" setting will also help. It sure feels much better in the house now!

Sandi, I always have been very interested in archaeology too! I would love to go on a dig site someday. I can't wait to hear about your adventure!

Back to work tomorrow but just for half a day. Will get off at 2. Hopefully, I will find my list and finish what I missed on it.

Have a good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Martha, you may just run into the techs somewhere, but since they're doing the new thing of going where alot of RVs will be, think about that. Maybe the Indianapolis 500? Kentucky Derby?

The first TCL I got rid of because it keep shutting off at odd intervals. Multiple factory resets were done, including by the dealer because they said the sleep timer was on. No it wasn't. They saw it happen themselves. I think it had a software bug that no one could figure out, so I trashed it and bought an Insignia from Best Buy.

This new one is a TCL Roku its OK I guess but the remote is a pain. There aren't even any numbers on it! Instead it had buttons for Netflix, Disnet, Hulu & Sling. So in order to change channels I have to display the channel list and then scroll. So when there are alot of scanned channels, the scrolling is a pain when I know the channel number I want. Also if I'm hooked up to Dish and turn the TV off, this one turns back on! Geesh!

Both TCL have a bright light that is on when the TV is off. I could turn it off in the old one, but not the new one and lights up the whole room.

I hate and despise bright lights on small appliances, and they all seem to come with them these days. I recently bought a wall plug adaptor (turns a two-receptacle wall plug into a three, with input for a USB cable). It has a bright blue light on the front of it (had I known in advance, I would not have bought it) that also lights up the whole dang room at night.

And for what? I don't get it. Burn more electricity? One of these things probably doesn't use much juice, but multiply this single unit by a couple hundred thousand maybe, and it starts to add up.

My Roku also doesn't have an "off" switch, so that if I don't unplug it before I go to bed, it stays on 24/7 burning juice.

(Feeling grumpier than usual this morning, I guess).

I have my Roku and TV plugged into a power cord which I turn off when not in use. I use another power cord for my appliances and turn it off when none are in use. Those random draws can cost when I'm paying my electric and I don't need those extra lights, either.
