Well, the final holiday of summer is upon us. For us, it’s the end of major tourist season, the start of another school year, although some started last week and sports have been in full swing for a couple weeks. Fall is upon us now. 47° with a real feel of 41 out there right now. We got to 68° yesterday. I think today is supposed to be around 70° or so.

Going to be a bit of a chilly morning to start out the annual Labor Day bridge walk on the Mackinac Bridge. Around 25,000 people walk that bridge each year on Labor Day. It is the only time that pedestrians are allowed to walk the bridge. The bridge is closed to traffic from 6:30 AM until noon to allow for this. In the past they used to keep the traffic open to one side and pedestrians walk on the other. And they would round up every school bus Thty pcould get, to ferry walkers across from Mackinac City But after the pandemic, they decided to change it and close the bridge to traffic. It does create an inconvenience for people who are heading to or from the UP, but they remind people way in advance, so They have time to prepare. The governor starts the work at 7 AM and then everyone can follow. You can either walk the bridge from Mackinaw city to Saint Ignace or vice versa, walk in both directions which means you’re gonna have to do a total of 10 miles before 11 o’clock start cut off, or you can walk to the halfway point and turn around and go back. You have to make sure that you have transportation to get you back across the bridge if you decide to walk from one side to the other. I have walked it twice but that was before a lot of people started to do it and it is fun. They have different events during the year to allow all kinds of vehicles and stuff to parade across the bridge too. Next weekend the antique tractors will do it. This is a big thing too because as many as 1000 antique tractors can be there. It’s quite a sight watching all those tractors parade up and onto the bridge and then proceed in a single file line across the bridge. The traffic is not factor in this, as the tractors stay in the right hand lane going north. The following weekend they have a big truck show in Saint Ignace and on Saturday night the trucks parade south on the bridge with all their lights on it after dark. I have not seen it, but I heard it is quite something to see. There are also weekends for Jeeps, ATVs and I forgot what else that are allowed to go across the bridge in spring and fall. I think there is one for snowmobiles in the winter too.



As for me today,I am going to be making some small straw bales and start putting out he fall decorations here and at our front entrance. Need to make a quick run to Walmart for some raffia and some sisal or bailing twine. I mowed my yard in the entrance the other day so they are done for a while now. I am also going to be throwing out the summer flowers yeah I let my mums take over. Putting my summer stuff away and just basically puttering with stuff until leaf cleanup time next month. Busy week coming up with haircut, dermatology appointment and two mornings of volunteer service.

Barbie, you will have to post a picture of your gourd when you get it done. It’s nice to see that you are challenging yourself to learn different ways of creating things with them. It’s like me with my woodcrafts. I learned a lot of things that I do by just trying them and see what happens.

I too got a laugh out of Judy’s 194°. Happy Labor Day everyone. I am just sitting in my cool condo with NO ac. Eating my Greek split red lentils for breakfast. They really are good. Crowd hasn’t gathered out at pool yet. Will be crowded later.
Yesterday my pulse was slo. Today it is fast. Dr is having trouble adjusting my meds.

Another scorching September day starting. 94° at 9:45. Some leaves have just gone crisp from heatbandvfallen all ready! We are staying in , hoping not to have to even open the door all day to keep it cooler. Thank goodness for powerful AC, cuz it's not blowing cool from the delta breeze this week!
Just can't plan a lot with temps record high! Today and tomorrow 112° and rest of week between 107-110°! Not our typical after Labor Day weather. Schools here started a couple weeks ago, but, thankfully our schools have AC.
After my Rt knee being sore early last week , I have stayed off treadmill to rest it, though I went to Curves 3 times. Today Curves is closed for holiday, but will be back at it Wednesday !
If I can get Chris moving, I hope to move stuff in my big bathroom, and vacuum with my big central vacuum then shampoo to carpet. Maybe even get in stamping time.
Beth, hope you saw my note re the breathing device . I use The Breather for my Inspiratory /Expiratory muscle training.

I opened the office for breakfast then my help came in at 10. I'll take Ginger to a late lunch/early dinner today. She leaves tomorrow. She's been watching the little dog of my housekeeper who traveled to England for her mother's funeral. Ginger leaves the day before the housekeeper returns, so Ty and I will have company for a day.

Happy Labor Day! I'm just sitting here mildewing. Our temperatures are going to be in the 80's all week because of all the rain.

I had seen a recipe for chicken and mushrooms that I wanted to try so bought some mushrooms the last time I went to the store. I cooked it for lunch. The recipe called for 8 oz of mushrooms. I wish I had gotten the big container of mushrooms because I like mushrooms.

Tomorrow night I have a club meeting if I don't forget. I saw in the paper that the Cattle Festival is back on. They probably want us to work it again.

Judy, hope you get some AC. The trip I made without AC it never occurred to me to run the dash air for a little while just to cool the camper off. It would cool down enough at night that I could stand it with just a fan. That might not work for you since your dash air isn't working right.

Good afternoon gals!

I spent some time this morning (in my nice cool house ) figuring out the laundry app and adding money to my account. Hopefully, my information will stay in there including my password, when I need to use it. I decided I didn't feel like doing laundry today. I washed a couple outfits the other day at work so I am good for tomorrow.

Been working on the gourd doll. I finished painting it and wanted to put on a shiny clear coat before adding the embellishments. Unfortunately, it is so hot outside that the top coat bubbled up on parts of it. Most of those areas will be covered with other stuff so I think it will be OK. The gourds sits a little wobbly so I just glued a little base to the bottom and will need to paint that too. Then will start working on attaching the embellishments. I think the hair will be the hardest part. The leather piece I ordered is too thick so I just ordered a piece of faux suede which is thinner and easier to work with. Should get that by Friday. I like the color on this piece better than the other one I ordered too.

While I was working on that, I suddenly heard Romeow screaming! I ran to find him and found him hanging from the bedroom closet door with his front claw stuck in the trim on the door! I was able to get it free right away but am once again glad that I was home when that happened! I will have to try to clip his claws tonight when I catch him in a calm mood. I might have to consider trying those claw caps on him. That might help prevent these things from happening. I have also fixed the cords on the blinds on all the windows. The two strings on each one were tied together at the ends which would be a real hazard if Romeow got his head in there and choked himself! I untied them and added a wooden cord pull to the ends of each string. So now he can play with them without getting hanged! I am trying to always see things that could be a problem with him. I had to do that with the ferrets too. Lola never played much or ever got into anything so I never had to worry about this with her.

Will be going over to the potluck in an hour. I just ate lunch so I won't be too hungry. I have nothing to bring so I don't want to pig out on food. I will wait until everyone else gets their food before I go get some. Don't want to look like a free-loader!

That is the reason they outlawed corded blinds due to the child and animal hazards. You can still order them but you cant buy them in the store ie: Walmart.

If you think I was fuzzy brained yesterday, trust me that I am a lot worse today!!

If you remember, I had no AC and was waiting for a call from CoachNet. They did call me and were very nice, as usual and said someone would call me around 8 am in the morning. I had quickly packed up a nightgown and change of clothing and other stuff, including my laptop and Kindle and went over to my son's house. It is really nice that both my kids have extra bedrooms, but I just could not sleep. I had dumbly left fan on, even though AC fan just recirculates air, not bring in fresh air, but I had one high window and two roof vents open. I kept thinking all night about the predicted 112 degrees and threat of a lot of power outages the next day or two, and was worried about my rig being left alone all day today in the extreme heat. Don't like baking everything thing in it.

I also started thinking that even if I could get a mobile repairman to look at it today, there is no way they could get parts today because of the holiday. I kept switching all night from watching TV to reading my Kindle to reading news on my cell phone, with the result that I did not get any sleep all night. I finally decided that my best bet was to just get up at daylight and then head north a day early. I had a reservation in Eureka, CA, for Tuesday night, but knew they had lots of vacancies. The predicted temps there (or here since I am in Eureka now), was a high of 66, with low of 54. (Previous temps are NOT typos!) Would not need AC here and much easier to drive today and worry about getting stuff fixed tomorrow. So my son took me and all my stuff back to RV park and helped me pack up and get ready to go. I left at 7 am and got gas on my way--arrived here after a couple of breaks and picking up a couple things at a Walmart. I took 101, and there was hardly any traffic until I got to redwoods, plus it was not hot because I was so early and got here around 3 pm. I had just thrown stuff in, so spent an hour putting stuff away and fixing myself a sandwich. I have all windows open, and there is a gorgeous ocean breeze, so it will not be hot tonight, and I have a printout the desk person gave me of an RV service place close by.

So, I will do my dishes from the last two days, take an early shower, and hit the bed early tonight. Just feel dizzy and really exhausted, but I am glad I drove out of the horrible heat. Son and family say they have been just staying indoors, no power outages, and house is comfortable. Hope all the rest of you are comfortable and have AC and power!!!

Temperature here topped out at 114° and 16% humidity today. As the crow flies I’m only about 20 miles from San Francisco Bay with several rows of good-sized hills in between so the temperature today is hard to believe. My home stays pretty cool so have managed not to turn on the A/C yet. Will only do that for awhile when the pups and I go upstairs to bed. It’s supposed to be a repeat tomorrow. My son sent me a photo of my DIL heating up dinner rolls wrapped in foil on the cement area around their pool in the back yard. They decided it was even too hot to go for a swim. I told him they should put a frying pan out there, let it heat up, and cook some eggs.

Nice and chilly in my RV. Even closed most of the windows.

Just heard on the news about a wildfire up in Hemet, CA where Evie lives (and also Sharon). It is just southeast of the town and moving west. 1500 homes evacuated, several homes destroyed and 2 deaths. I hope she is OK where she is.

Another fire has started up near Big Bear northeast of LA in the mountains.

Labor day used to be the day that life in Jackson Hole WY returned to normal schools would be starting so mom and dad had to get kids home in time for school and peace and quite reigned for a couple of months till the ski bums arrived... it all worked out great then the senior citizens discovered that the families wouldn't be here weather was good so the old folks came and now the quite it not here for some time... oh well tourists is what the town goes to the bank with... and typically the weather cools down not so this weekend tomorrow the temps are predicted to be up close to 89 now I know that for you all that's not hot but here it's hot!!! mom has this theory we feel it more because our altitude is higher .... we are closer to the sun so it's hotter... she may have something there...
the cruise is a week away hopefully it will be without oxygen... I can see even taking a tank just in case and a meter to check it out saw a watch that sounded that it would be great for all those things that we may or may not want to monitor... I checked the oxygen level occasionally with out and it's been up higher than at the hospital so really hoping
I'm beginning to wonder if we will get a train ride or not that was going to happen in Skagway then Skagway isn't happening now it's suppose to be Sitka but on our group text my roommate (my 3rd daughter) just text and asked if the train had disappeared for anyone else... two things off the ship I wanted to do was the train ride and high tea in Victoria (if they have the type of teas I will drink... the natural ones right now brain fog can't remember the correct term oh well will tomorrow when I open the cupboard and see the box) I wouldn't mind seeing the dog sled teams either so many of the stuff is really expensive... we are signed up for a lumberjack show some where though or at least the last I heard we were...
have my ups and down days not so sure think this one was more a down day more tired ect... although I did get the scriptures read that is a bonus
