Where are all of you back East gals? Surprised no one has opened up our rabbit hutch message. Guess I'll start. RABBITS! It got to 110 degrees on my patio yesterday and the weather reports say it will get hotter today through the weekend and beyond! So far we haven't lost power. I'll head to Knit/Crochet group this morning and then out to lunch with 2-3 other girls. Hope you all have a "rabbit" good day.

Good morning Evie and all who follow. I was going to start a Rabbits post but, then I decided to let somebody else have some fun and do it. It’s sunny here and 51° here it was 47 when I got up. Supposed to go up to about 80 today they say. Painting is on my agenda this morning as soon as it warms up just a little more and everything gets totally dry. There’s just a little bit of dew on the railing of my deck that I want to paint. I got everything prepped yesterday and I just need to sweep off the deck this morning and start painting. Probably a couple hours I should be done. Maybe not even that long. And then while I have my painting duds on, I will go round the house foundation. I have to change paints though.

Just found out this morning by chance that they had some really severe weather in the southeast part of Michigan especially in the Detroit area on Monday. 375,000 people are without power and supposedly will have it back by today. There was even a possible tornado north of Detroit. My cousin and his wife were without power but they have a standby generator that they had installed last fall, so they were all set. Other than the loss of Wi-Fi because the cable system went down. I was thinking yesterday, that I’m glad that I took the plunge and had one installed. Now when it gets really windy or are we have a potential for storms or something I don’t have to worry. that I will probably lose my cable and my Wi-Fi but that’s immaterial. I have my cell phone and lost power in the house I can keep it charged.

Sheila, glad that you are back home and hope that you get to feeling better and that they get you straightened out before you have to go on your cruise. If you have to take oxygen you probably won’t be there only one. There are so many ways of doing that now. I see people riding all over the place up here with it. Beth, are going better now that you have some new people working there? Annie, high side article about catastrophic floods a possibility in California too. With the way the climate is changing anything is possible. I was just thinking yesterday that California and New York City always seem to be the main focus for disaster movies. And that many times those movies wind up being reality. I think back on all the science-fiction movies I used to watch when I was younger, that have come true over the years.

So I guess I will get myself dressed and get things ready to start painting before long. It looks like we might have some rain tomorrow night into Saturday morning show the sooner I get the painting done it will have time to dry for 24 to 36 hours before it rains. Although it says to not use it for regular use for 72 hours, I will probably remove my barriers and if the dogs wanna walk on it, that’s OK, because they can’t do much to it. Not like a mess of people tromping all over it, and if it rains they won’t be out there anyway. But I have a table and my porch chairs, blocking part of the deck off and I don’t want them out in the rain. Won’t hurt them but I just don’t wanna do it

I remembered Rabbits this morning, but I thought yesterday was Sept. 1, so I hollered Rabbits then, too. So I'm hoping the double dose will work even better.

It's 80 degrees right now with 90% humidity and we'll get into the low 90's with a chance of showers this afternoon or evening. There's nothing new going on here. We're anxiously waiting to see the next rocket launch from Cape Canaveral which we can usually see from our back yard.

I was up till midnight and said rabbits then as well as when I first got up today. Hopefully that brings me good luck this month. Sue, things are so much better without the toxic one and with the new folks. Thanks for asking. I have today off but don't intend to do much. With Ginger here we've been on the run every chance and this old body is saying I need some down time lol.

Weather is saying it's 55 here now but we'll have highs to 89 today. Time to get Ty out and about before the heat hits.

Have any of you seen or tried any of the breathing apparatuses that supposedly help clean out mucus and clear your lungs? I want to try one but there are so many to choose from. I have one in my Amazon cart that looks identical to another higher priced one. I hate that lol.

Good morning Evie and All, same ole weather. Didn’t leave the apartment yesterday. Remembered I have a package from Amazon today so will stop at the thrift store on the way. Still trying to economize during these troubling times. I changed my cell phone plan and dumped Verizon so saving $30 a month. That will keep me in chocolate. Lol. I feel so bad for our citizens suffering such severe weather conditions. Sheila, glad you are home and hope you have a speedy recovery. Everyone, Be safe

Still at the manufacturer rally in Goshen, IN. Would have popped in earlier, but happened to be outside and some techs that build my model stopped and asked how I like it. Their mistake! Had no hot water last night on propane and asked them how to know if the inline thermal fuse is bad. They checked a bunch of stuff, ran to the Domenic techs twice! And finally got it working again. Then the other techs stopped by for the other little things I had on my repair list, then the recall team stopped to replace the propane quick connect. Needless to say it's been busy!

Now waiting on the Lippert team. They called yesterday and said there is a recall on the awning. Will still be bringing the TT into my dealer for another fix. That happened 2 weeks ago. They need to pull the recliners out for that and it wasn't on my list for a fix here. Good thing I know these things are a rolling bucket of bolts.

Will be back in IL on Saturday for 9 nights for warrenty, dentist, blah, blah, blah. Then a slow trek south.

Oh! And I did remember Rabbits! Sheila get well ASAP so you can enjoy your trip. Have a good day ladies. Enjoy September.

Yes the article about (possible) catastrophic floods in California was alarming - but not surprising. In 2017, during the Oroville Dam disaster. . .

I was evacuated from my home for three days when the main spillway at Oroville dam failed during an historic series of rain storms (spillway failure meaning that water couldn't be released to relieve pressure on the dam), and it was thought that failure was imminent (not of the dam itself, but of the emergency spillway - which would have been nearly as bad).

Oroville dam, at 770 feet tall, is the tallest dam in the United States (heck of a lot of water up there - 3.5 million acre-feet of water, when the dam is full. One acre-foot is equal to 325,851 gallons of water).

It is not a concrete dam, but rather an earth fill dam. During that series of storms, the lake impounded behind the dam had filled to nearly the top of the dam - and the main (concrete) spillway had failed, so they began to use the "emergency spillway" (which was nothing more than an earthen hillside) which began to erode (in other words, also to fail). And it was still raining - hard - with more rain on the way.

I live about a mile from the Feather River, about 20 miles downstream of the dam. Oroville dam is a dam on the Feather River. The bulk of the water from the dam would have followed the Feather River channel. . . think a 150-foot tall wall of water coming down the river. Had the dam let go, my house would likely have just been. . . gone.

Both failed spillways have since been demolished and rebuilt - and we are assured that there is no further risk.

To me, this is kind of like saying that something is "earthquake proof": if the ground shakes hard enough, and long enough, the potential for failure is high.

. . . If it rains long enough, and hard enough (LOL - and maybe throw an earthquake into the bargain - there is a known earthquake fault at Oroville dam) the potential for dam failure is definitely present.

So it goes. . . LOL. That is my happy news for this morning.

Good morning gals!

I think the long days at work (9-6) are getting to me. I started falling asleep at work yesterday afternoon which has never happened before. Then when I got home (6:30) I laid down on my bed and fell asleep. I wanted to get up by 8pm to watch my favorite TV show but didn't wake up until 11pm. Put on my PJ's and went back to bed. Woke up this morning at 9am. I still feel tired. I am scheduled for another long day on Saturday. I might have to ask my manager to only schedule me for one long day per week. I hope they can hire someone soon. There are only 4 of us right now so that doesn't give my manager very many options with scheduling.

Of course, I didn't think to say "rabbits".

I changed my cell phone plan and dumped Verizon so saving $30 a month. That will keep me in chocolate. Lol

I love your priorities!! I can't buy chocolate in the summer because it would be melted into soup by the time I got out to my car, let alone get home with it. I do buy some at WM and keep it at work.

My wrist is still bothering me. Of course I didn't remember to put the brace on last night.

I really need to do laundry today. Am totally out of clean work pants. I hate the thought of going outside today. 110* with a dewpoint of 74*. Ugh! Fall doesn't get here until the middle of October. So 6 long weeks yet to go. I had a dream last night that I was visiting a friend in Florida and it was in the 50's and I was wearing a jacket and was so cool and happy!

Good Morning, Beth, I read all the small print on those ads for the “breather” thing. I decided not to bother with it. It sounds like a gimmick to me.
Going on the cruise with oxygen shouldn’t be a problem Sheila. Stay away from smoking lounges to avoid the smoke. The dining room will be smoke free, and maybe the entire ship. That would be really nice!

I fell asleep in recliner so my rabbits declaration was delayed and after son woke me around 1. Oh well, I said rabbits several times so maybe it will help. Not much will help heat today. Yesterday was start of string of very hot days at 102. It's 10:40 and 90! We have trip to dentist for sons checkup at 2. Not looking forward to getting in hot car. Today predicted 104°, which may mean 106° here as my hill tends to be warmer in summer, cooler in winter.
Beth what is the devices you speak of. I know of no way to clear lungs without undergoing sedation for a painful procedure of adding saline down and suctioning. I do use NeilMed saline rinse with little plastic bottle with nasal tip, twice a day. It keeps my nose cleared, removes pollen and debris from being out and about, and keeps sinus openings clear of material that could blck. Been doing this twice daily for over 30 years! Works well for me. And its cheap, pennies per day. All electric gadgets for that I've seen so far appear to be nothing but gimmick which does nothing my plastic bottle of salt water doesn't do.
With the thousand year floods back in 89 and I think 96, lots of water but we are on a hill and were fine. I no longer believe their scare tactic reports of stuff like "the big one (quake" is coming- duh of course earthquakes happen but their silly over the top reports are just alarmist. Same for "catastrophic" floods- which we have had periodically for probably thousands of years . In early 50's a flood had my small town of Tracy hemmed in, so we pulled out card table amd played Canasta! Every year they scare people here with reports of possible tornados- but our tornados rarely even approach a 1 on scale and a few shingles are lost and a fence or two blows over. Now it's alarmist reports that over 1/3 of our cities are fire vulnerable and homes will burn. So, take reasonable precautions: buy home out of flood plain, buy adequate insurance, don't build in forest, make sure older house has up to date quake proof straps to foundation, etc. know your risks and do what you can to mitigate, then live your life and be happy!

Would you like a good laugh? California passed a law that said no more gasoline engines after 2023. Today the state issued a severe warning to not charge your electric car becauSe not enough electricity in the grid! Those idiots in Sacramento are good for nothing but a laugh! Lyn

I brought my Apple computer to the shop because there is something wrong with the battery. I'll see if I can post from my HP without losing my post. It is very aggravating because it keeps jumping around.

I got more of the grass mowed yesterday and I was going to try to mow a few more passes today. It rained another 1/4 inch so no more mowing for a few days. We are supposed to get a lot of rain this weekend.

I brought a gas can with me to town to get gas for the mower. Not that I'm going to need gas for a while. When I passed the Circle K store there were so many vehicles in there that I couldn't get in. Found out that they were giving 40 cents discount on the gas for a few hours. I didn't need gas that bad to fight that crowd.

I've been using saline for a long time with no noticeable help. A doctor recommended I get an AirPhysio. It's not expensive so I'll probably give it a try. There are less expensive, similar products. But since this is the one this doctor recommended I'll probably go with it.

I did 3 rows on my crocheted afghan tonight... if I can do it tomorrow it will be done then sat I will cut the fringe so it's even and it will be ready to send to granddaughter...
I slept the afternoon away however when I woke up to go potty at don't remember what time not early anyway I thought I don't remember saying rabbits nor do I remember talking to anyone.... so said RABBITS a couple of times for good measure... we will hope
my dd is still here but think she will go home tomorrow however my eldest will be here with her husband so although they will get in late it will be nice to know that they will be here sometime...
looked at my tracking on the skirts should be here on Tuesday I believe which I think is the day I see the dr but because it is a holiday weekend maybe I ought to go another day
before all this happened I entertained thoughts of driving to Idaho Falls one day next week now I'm not sure....although I need to some shoes need to be purchased need to figure out what to do...
I am sure that I can some how figure out the oxygen not sure how because usually they have weeks to prepare... and where it's still up in the air... not much I know to do although I ought to call and get the insurance on the jazzy I've rented...I kept forgetting to do that ... guess that is what happens when you sleep the day away...
Barbi are you on thyroid meds? that sometimes is a issue when you either need meds for it or a change in your meds.. the sleeping that is... that comes from someone who has slept the afternoon away the past few days...
I called to talk to my youngest she told me via video call how to use the inhaler that they sent home with me... need to try again and try to do better with it... why it should be such an issue with me who knows although have used the saline spray
