Next to the last Sunday in August

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Next to the last Sunday in August

Good afternoon ladies!

It's almost 4:00 P.M. and our high temperature in central FL was 99 with a heat index of 111.

There's nothing new to report here. Speaking of card games, I enjoy playing all of the Solitaire games, Klondike, Spider, Free Cell, Pyramid and Tripeaks. My favorite is Spider with 2 colors at the hard level. I've done the others mentioned but try not to spend too much time online. Fortunately, the church keeps me busy in the music department to keep the hand, eye, brain coordination going.

I'm not sure if I mentioned that Steve & I will have a 50th anniversary gathering this coming February, we think. I'm waiting on the Father of our church and his wife to check the schedule we've given them, then we'll know more. If any of you are in the area, you are invited. There is a campground next to the resort we live in, as this is a motorhome only resort. And February here is very mild.

Oh Irmi that is way too hot! I hope it cools down soon. The weather is just strange. Looks like they are predicting a colder than usual winter. I think I tolerate cold better than the heat and humidity. It has been a do nothing day here. I did get Pippa's daily brushing finished. I brush her every day and every day she wiggles. I am really careful with the slicker brushes and I don't think I touch the skin but she does not like it. Her coat is baby fine and I'm hoping when her adult coat comes in it will get easier. I think the red dye from the little piece of red duct tape she found is just going to have to wear off.
No news here. I've had a hard time finding books to read so I am bored. I don't do puzzles but I do spend a lot of time reading.

We are slightly milder today! At 2:30 yesterday, Chris and I headed to nearby grocery for a few items. It was 103°! Just under a hour later, after we brought groceries in, I glanced at my weather panel , and it was 107°!! Sat there about an hour then dropped to 106. At 2 am, I got up to bathroom and it was still 74°. Ugh, I'm ready for fall. As I've said, for a while: in cool weather I can add clothes as needed and be comfortable, but in summer, there is only so much clothing you can take off and not have people wonder about you!
Today is a quiet day. I didn't wake until after zoom church was finished! I'm reading and interacting with several friends and groups. Helping a friend figure out ways to feed her husband who had open heart surgery to replace a heart valve that failed for 3rd time! Whle my friend argued for months with Drs who didn't believe her as to how sick he was, he lost weight and muscle and just wasn't eating. Fortunately we nurses even in retirement can be mama grizzlies for our loved ones. She finally got him in last Monday to Drs that listened and they realized he was hanging on with finger tips. He was immediately admitted, and testing and support begun and Friday had open heart valve replacement. By last night he was breathing on his own and began to get feisty, pulling out a feeding tube. By the time she got there today, he was up in chair eating breakfast! I'm going to help design some high protein, high calories but low sugar drinks in VitaMix she can give him to help him put back muscle and regain strength as he heals. We met at Philadelphia Naval Hospital 51 years ago last spring. And because I did it so long for Mel, I'm pretty experienced at making concoctions that will work!
Have a good week ahead.

HI everyone. Sorry I haven't posted lately.

The kids are still keeping me busy AND I'm getting ready for French 102. I'll be attending class on campus which is a little more nerve-wracking than zoom classes. We've only got 9 students so far being taught by a well respected & much loved professor. I've been spending quite a bit of time over the summer on DuoLingo to try to keep up my vocabulary & what we learned last semester. Class starts this Tuesday - Wish me luck.

Karen, I've seen some of the pics you've posted on FB of those pups - how can anyone allow them to get that terrible? So good of you to foster that little one & let her know what her life should be like.
BJ, Pippa is so cute - sounds like she keeps you on your toes! And I loved your story about trying to trade your baby brother for a pony. Such innocence... absolutely loved it!

Olivia is excited about getting a new baby (due mid-Oct)- Jordi couldn't care less. He is doing really well at potty-training. I just hope he doesn't regress when the baby arrives. He initiated training himself one morning when he asked to use the potty - although I'm not sure his parents were ready - he was! That was over a month ago & his occasional accident is just a matter of needing help getting his pants down quick enough. I'm very proud of my little guy - he's still only 2 - turning 3 around Thanksgiving.

I've got several visitors coming out over the next couple of months & then my DD arrives back from France around the baby's due date. So between visitors & trying to survive French class I should stay pretty busy.

Hope the weather evens out where you are & that everyone stays well.
Take care,
Catherine
