Morning All, it’s a glorious morning of 70°. We are getting a break from the horrible humidity. Showers today into tomorrow but I will enjoy open windows. Had a great get together with family yesterday on the crab deck. My brother was fascinated with my daughters Ecjo Dot his last visit. I ordered one for him to use when his broadband is installed. Made him laugh. I also have my daughters old iPad for him which will not make him smile YET. Lol Be safe

Nice cool morning here 57 will warm up this afternoon tho. I just relaxed over the weekend. I just can seem to get past this fatigue, coughing and shortness of breath yet. I had my labs, chest xray, Cat scan . My lungs have scarring and I have an appt with a Pulmonary doc in Nov. I have Pulmonary function test the 29th of this month.

I have the most wonderful neighbors tho. They came over and cleaned my gutters (and the neighbors) then pulled the weeds in my backyard and front yard. How nice was that. Then the neighbors on the other side next to me came over for me to print something for them and offered to help me in any way they could. Wanted to reassure me if I needed anything they were there. And not to worry about Emma if needed. I just cant thank them enough. I had to buy a couple pairs of pants as I have lost 40lbs.....nothing fit so had to do something. I really am working at eating but it is a process.

OK so that is my whine for today

It is a lovely cool morning here and supposed to be nice all week. Shirl we must be living right, I'm glad you are also having cooler temps!

Karen how wonderful to have such caring neighbors. I worry about who would take Pippa if something happen to us. I'm so sorry you still aren't feeling well and have lost so much weight. I am tired most of the time but to my knowledge have not had covid. I have gained most of my weight back though. I think gaining is harder for me than loosing. I hope they find answers soon too bad you have to wait so long for an appointment.

Barbie I worry about you! Did they check your sodium when you had your doctors appointment. If you drink too much water you could be low in sodium and potassium. I drank too much (water) :) and the doctor told me to alternate water with a hydrating drink. Coconut water is good and also fruits like watermelon.

I hope everyone gets some of these cool temperatures and rain if you need it. Pippa is too quiet I better check on her she has been on a naughty streak this morning.

Oh my, Karen. 40 pounds! That is quite a lot, and you are a small woman to begin with. So sorry you are still having such severe problems, but glad you have neighbors that can help.

I can't imagine what you are going through. I am more than ready to toss my masks and get out and about back into life again. . . but then I read one of your posts, or one from Velda, and then I definitely have second thoughts. I don't think I could manage long covid, and might end up in assisted living somewhere. I am scared to risk it.

My heart goes out to you, sending prayers your way.

Anne

I can relate to your situation Karen. I hope you can get things straightened out so you don’t continue to lose and can gain back what you’ve lost. I was losing weight (not planned) even before I was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation (afib) in February so I think the afib may have been going on for some time. However, I’m hoping the losing will stop. I’m 5’6” and am down to 100 lbs. I’ve always been a picky eater, but am finding it increasingly hard to find any food I like short of going to Cheesecake Factory every day ( ) which I can’t afford along with buying new clothes.

I didn't think it was too hot when I went out this morning but my thermometer says 100 now. It doesn't seem that humid since it didn't rain yesterday or today. I called to get my mower picked up this morning because it started making a new noise the last time I mowed. I really like the mower place because they are fast. The mower was picked up and I will probably get it back tomorrow. I can't go very long without a mower.

Karen, sorry you are still having health problems. I would sure like to lose 40 pounds but not the way you have. I doubt I will every be low on sodium because I put salt on almost everything. I don't seem to have to like something to eat it. In an article in Readers Digest it recommended eating 2oz of a certain cheese for the calcium in it. I don't like the cheese but I'm eating it.

Barbie, your 30 year old cheap sewing machine is probably better made than what they sell today.

I finally called a plumbing place to get my kitchen faucet installed and the toilet fixed. I had to turn the water off to one of the toilets because the tank wouldn't hold water. The faucet at the barn that the cows broke needs to be fixed too. I thought they had fixed it but they had just turned the water off to it. Of course they can't come for a week. I just hope they show up at all.

I found a package of chicken sausage in the freezer so decided to cook it. I use to make that all the time and couldn't remember how I made the gravy. I had to look it up online. I'm glad they have cajun recipe sites.

Sandi and Karen, I spent 17 days in the hospital in 2006 with acute pancreatitis. When I got home, I could not eat hardly anything, and lost 20 pounds in the first 20 days I was home. (I got total nutrition through multiple IVs in the hospital.) Plus I had to stick to nonfat things because of the pancreatitis. (I had a very good friend who stopped by and brought me nonfat soups, fish, and other things I could eat, which was a very nice surprise.) I was also cold all the time, and even wore heavy sweaters and sometimes my winter coat indoors at home and eventually when I went back to work. My boss even changed my desk location to a warmer area!

I used to sit in front of a half sandwich and just stare at it, so I know how hard it is when nothing tastes good. One thing I did do was keep a food diary and also ate bits of things all day. For example, I would eat half an apple, then an hour later drink some juice or milk. I also used to try to add calories to stuff by modifying the recipes. So, I would fix oatmeal by putting a quarter cup of the dry stuff in a heavy mug, but then would add milk to it instead of water, and top it off with some maple syrup. I'd put the cup in the microwave for a couple of minutes, stirring it a couple of times. Scrambled eggs also seemed to go down well, but it took me months before I could eat regularly. I did not gain much weight back, partly because I did not want to gain it all back, but I did stop losing it, and it was a great day when i could wear regular clothes without being cold.

Hope you both feel better soon.

BJ, I am only drinking 48 oz of water per day. I think they say 64 oz is recommended. My sodium levels should be OK since I put salt on everything and eat a lot of salty foods in general.

Was very busy at work today! School starts here tomorrow so all the parents brought their kids in for school haircuts. Will probably be busy all week as well. We are shorthanded again and my manager asked me to work full days (9-6) tomorrow and Wednesday instead of 9-1 each day. Those are long days for me but since I didn't work yesterday, I can make up those hours for the week. Then I have Thursday, Friday, and Saturday off. I can get the junk outside cleaned up then. I may have to get up really early to get out there before it gets over 100*. Nighttime temps here still are in the 90's.

My stomach muscles are sore from being sick the other night. And my back, shoulders and thigh muscles are sore from moving and going thru boxes and stuff on Saturday in my living room. I need to do some stretching exercises!

Glad to hear some of you are cooling off a bit! Can't believe August is already half over!

I better find something for dinner. Gonna just relax tonight and get to bed early. I also need to catch Romeow in a relaxed mood so I can clip his nails again. They are getting very sharp!

I think it's cooled off some here but I never think to look at the thermometer. right now it's in the very low 60's... door is open but the fan is off... so guess it's feeling good...
just had sandwiches for supper wanted to use up the chicken salad... need to cut some cheese so that it is handy for mom to get it if she wants crackers and cheese..
picked up this tuxedo cake (a single serve) it is so good... ate my share might eat mom's
I am now out of gray hopefully dd picked it up and will figure out a means of getting it to me... had hoped her sister would have brought it to me yesterday but she didn't .... however I can still put rows on won't need gray for 13 row's that is just short of a week...
it was totally a do nothing day I tried to finish my treasure box...did figure out that the turtle will fit where I want to put it I put some putty stuff on it's feet and it held long enough to let me see if it would work... but guess the turtle is too heavy for the cheap putty stuff .... and here in Jackson can't think of a place that might carry the better stuff... did put the felt inside the box decided not to glue it down that way if it gets dirty or torn or just tired off she can change it out... and the two turtles on the top of the box are staying put with the cheap putty stuff... staying well enough that I couldn't get them off... so went to glue the turtle in it's spot and the glue guess isn't working on either the plastic of the turtle or the poly on the wood not sure maybe a combo so need to go find some more glue.. maybe gorilla???
I did however finish a book and read about half of another... so guess I did accomplish something...
you all have a good day
