Good morning all. Heavy rain moving in and it’s getting a little darker out, so getting closer. We could see up to an inch of rain today which would make the farmers very happy. The way the storms are tracking, my area of the county looks like we are going to be the recipient of the heavy stuff. Don’t have to go out today so I don’t care. Going to be a great day to work on craft stuff. I started cutting out a pumpkin from the pallet boards that I have in my shed yesterday, but it didn’t quite go the way I was hoping. But when you try something new, the first one is always going to get screwed up. So, instead of making a medium size pumpkin I will revamp things to a small size pumpkin. We will see how it go
O’Sharon, good luck in finding a new furry companion. It’s too bad that you aren’t, here because an Animal shelter/Humane Society, about 50 miles from here has been having a three week long adoption session in which they have waived all fees. I have a reason to believe that Piper might have a UTI, but as long as it is raining or threatening, getting her out for a little “sample” session is a no go right now
Later.

Otherwise, same old around here. Gotta get moving and get cleaned up, run the vac and then get into my little projects. Have a great day everyone

Morning Sue and All, It’s hot and humid can’t think of a different way to say the same ole thing. I would love to post but nothing interesting. #2 daughter is picking up the Forester and take for oil change etc. she is taking a trip to Bar Harbor and I offered the use of my car since it has less miles than hers. Poor ole thing just sits on the parking lot baking. I’ve read that everyone dreams but if so I never ever remember them until this morning. Woke very early then feel back asleep. I was in a pub in Scotland and having such a good time. I know it was a pub but it looked like a grocery store and I was thinking Judy said they have good sandwiches. Lol. Hated to wake up. Had a burst of energy and did some organizing in the closet. Needs a lot more but I don’t want to exhaust myself. Be safe

Seemed like a long day at work even tho it was only 5 hours. Tomorrow WILL be a long day, from 9-6!

It is very humid and windy out this afternoon. There are thunderstorms popping up all around here. The worst of them are to the southeast of me over Joshua Tree NP. The ones coming from that direction tend to hit us here. So will see if that happens. Lots of red and pink on the radar... For now, there is just a lot of dust in the air from the wind. So if we do get rain, it will be more like mud!

Got a new toy for Romeow. He just played with it for a few minutes and got bored. And yet he can bat a ping pong ball around in the bathtub for hours! Oh well...

Have a good evening!

...the storm is dissipating and falling apart. There are new storms over the mountains on the west side but those won't be coming this way. So once again, we will stay dry. I think when those storms hit the heat in the valley here, they just lose their energy and moisture. At least the mountains are getting a lot of rain lately, tho. That is helpful for those areas. Joshua Tree is getting a lot too from the monsoons coming up from the south. There is a small mountain range between JTNP and where I am, so that blocks the storms from coming over here for the most part. But if they do make it over, we are the first ones to get rain on this side of the valley. They just don't happen on this side very often, mostly on the west side.

Sorry for all the complaining. I woke up this morning and found another mouse in the trap I had left set all night. That makes a total of three mice caught!!

Stopped at Walmart in Montrose, and got 4 traps. They are not exactly the ones I wanted, but they are not sticky ones. Good point about mice following one another's trails. I caught all three so far within a 6" circle. I have set two of the new traps in the same area. I am in Elk Ridge near Ridgway, and I asked the guy who checked me in about mice. He said not too many in the higher ridge area I am staying, but a lot down by the river. I have a plastic bin in that area, and after watching the mice scurrying around, I moved it against the wall so they have only one trail out and that is where I put the traps. We shall see if I catch anymore tonight.

Thanks for the suggestions about RV furniture. I am going to look around online and in Oregon if I don't find a solution by then.

on a whim I invited nephew and his family over for supper had to go to the store for stuff for tomorrow pot luck was going to make two items but decided that the timing wasn't going to work so it's just going to be grape salad... wish the grapes had been cheaper but what cat we expect at this time?
I saw a mouse last night so got out the traps I'd bought this morning and set them so far no mouse... :( I really want to replace the mattress and box springs that I sleep on... it has a spot where the cloth is torn on the underside of the box springs and I will bet that there is a mouse nest there... just hate the thought of it but other than traps and getting rid of the set....
we has sloppy joes they really tasted good and am glad that there is a little bit left as well as two buns... my niece asked where I found the chicken jumbo it was a rare find so had to find I really wish I'd bought more than two cans... my eldest had given me one that she had so I still have two...
my niece checked to see what the missed calls and messages were on mom's cell... mom's going to go to jail   just shake my head about the spam calls...
you all have a great day

Judy - I should have included this info in my post about your mouse problem: Critters don't like the smell of mint - peppermint, etc. So if you have a spray with peppermint perhaps you can spray wherever you think their trail is. Also spray around outside and underneath wherever you can reach in that same area. If you can interrupt their trail scent perhaps they will stop. I've heard other scents like cinnamon sticks might work, too. Works for insects, too.

Sue - Sure do wish there was a way to transfer some of your rain out here! The other day I went out on my patio at 5:00 p.m. and the thermometer said 106*. Our weather report for that day was high of 94! Can't help wondering where their thermometer is! Every time someone says, "Yea, but it's a dry heat" I think so is an oven and you know how that feels when you open the door?

Barbie - Sorry you didn't get the rain. I thought sure you did because I could see all the clouds from my patio. We don't get it, either. Seems the gorgeous mountains surrounding us hog all the water! However, it's needed there, too. And there's so many folks being flooded out in Kentucky and across the middle. It's not fair! I feel so sad for them.

Sheila - I'm not sure our "get out of jail" fund would cover your Mom, but we'd certainly try!

Evie

Evie, your post made me smile. I think those who haven't experienced "oven heat" like we do, cannot fully appreciate what it is like - and how truly awful it is. Think about opening the door, and having my breath taken away by the waves of heat. Think about needing an oven mitt to turn the knob on the front door to come into the house.

I could go on!

Thanks!
