Good morning Everybody and a beautiful morning it is in Connecticut. It is so good to be home.

Shirl, The NY Times had an article about the “Dirty Shirley” being the go to drink for the summer. I cut out the recipe which calls for vodka, grenadine and a lemon/lime soda. I need to get some soda, then I let you know how it tastes….

Cheryl and Sharon, happy to hear that you had a good visit. The Shanksville Memorial is very moving. Carolb and I stopped there on our way home from the Kansas get together. We also stopped to visit with Sharon. Good times. We need more gtgs.

Cheryl, please pm contact information for your time in Clinton. I’ve marked my calendar and plan to gtg with you.

Stay well and enjoy today. Peggy

Morning All, cloudy, high 60’s and rain predicted. It’s a weekend so will be staying home. Shelia finally going to fix that grilled cheese sandwich but for dinner. Judy, waiting for your adventure to begin, take care of your self. Hope others have some news to share. Be safe

Good morning! We only had a couple very scattered showers yesterday and so far about the same today. Not the continuous rain that was earlier forecasted.. I managed to mow yesterday, cleaned out dead fonts on my ferns, removed low fencing in front of them. I wasn’t aware that yard guy had a full time job and worked in the evening and he thought the leaves were in piles rather then piled along the fence line! He had stopped after he got off work to see what I had and there the conversation about piles. So while he went on home to change clothes and pick up his truck I hurried and raked piles for him. So all he had to really do was load his truck. Nice young man and we discussed just what he would do and of course the fall cleanup! Then he used his blower and cleared the yellow stuff off the driveway! I think he was here about an hour. His wife came with him and she and I both worked with him. I told him how much I appreciated his returning calls and following through with doing the work! This is when I really miss having a truck! Ultimately I think it’s cheaper to pay him and not have to maintain the cost of a truck I wouldn’t use all the time! My next big project is to haul the trailer to the dump and get rid of the bags of leaves and debris! Maybe between rains today I’ll get that done and off my to do list! So now I can get serious about just what to do with the flower beds! Must admit my body is sore! I do need to get laundry done today too! I held off thinking it would be an inside day today but looks like I can maybe get outside and I really want to push on while it’s still cooler weather. Amazing how energized I am after a few days of camping! Maybe I’m on to something here!! So off I go to start a load of was and then onward from there! Hope everyone is having a good day and staying safe.

It rained most of the night off and on I guess but today we are going to be 71 and it was 53 outside so much warmer. I might go over to Home Depot on Monday and see what their plants look like. I need potting soil so better start looking for sales on that.

Laura turned me on to Cosmopolitans...they are very refreshing for a summer drink. Triple Sec, Vodka, Cranberry juice......tasty. I am a Baileys girl most of the way either with coffee or on the rocks, either way very tasty.

Shirl, I need a wide size shoe too and those Skechers fit the bill. Although the have laces, they don’t tie, you just slip your foot into them and these are also slip proof. I figured if the stretchy laces get too loose, I’ll just take them off and put regular laces on. They have very thick soles which are great for walking. Actually, in talking with a customer rep from Merrill, I found out that when you hi a size 9 in a women’s wide shoe, you actually gravitate to a men’s shoe from that size up. Men’s are wider than a women’s and you go down a size and a half from your women’s size. I have done that when I can’t find a women's to fit me. My current Merrill walking shoes are men’s.

Well, I spoke too soon yesterday in regards to no wildfires. Found out yesterday that one started about 30 miles NE of here in the Pigeon River Country State Forests Burning on the Black River Ranch, a private hunting and fishing club. So far one shed has been lost and one vehicle damaged. 13 people were evacuated from the ranch and about a dozen buildings are threatened. It has burned through 2300 acres of Jack pine, mixed pine and grasses. 30% contained as of 11 a.m. this morning. The Pigeon as it is called is be largest State forest in Northern lower Michigan and home to the largest elk herd east of the Mississippi. It is a beautiful area of rivers, lakes, streams, miles and miles of seasonal roads, trails, dirt roads, State forest campgrounds and scenic beauty. It’s known as the “Big Wild”. Most of the area where the fire is, is woods and seasonal roads, no nothing other than the buildings on the ranch property are in danger. Storms and rain are moving throughs, so hopefully some will hit that area. It was determined Ato have been caused by a lightening strike on May 11th. Was probably smoldering till the wind was right to start it off.

My neighbor’s sn left here north Thursday with his big 5er and joined a bunch of friends to set up camp way back in the Pigeon. Don’t know if it was at state forest campground or dispersed camping. They spotted the fire yesterday afternoon and a couple of the guys drove over to investigate. Found it was only 3 miles from their camp, so They rushed back and everybody got everything loaded and packed up, fire was a mile from them when they were leaving. Must have just started prior to that. They are now set up one of the campers farm. Ironically, the son retired from being a volunteer firefighter with our county and township fire depts. for over 30 years. In this case, instead of running to a fire, he had to run from one.

Hi ladies~~~
Almost dinner time, but it's pouring rain right now so I figured the campfire would just fizzle.

Just spotty rain yesterday and earlier today, but boy am I glad I'm off the hill and away from mud!

Got a bit more sightseeing in. Yesterday to Fort Necessity and today I backtracked partially towards Pittsburg to do some Dad financial things, then just wandered a bit before heading back to the CG.

Peggy~ I sent you a pm.

Hope everyone has a good evening.

Good afternoon gals! Had a short day today, only 5 hours at work. It was slow and the other two are working all day. It is hot today. 107* last I checked. I came home and put a gauze sun dress on which is so much more comfy and cool!

My drink of choice is Baileys also. I have been mixing it in with hot cocoa before bedtime. I sleep like a baby! :D

I have really narrow feet (or is it my long toes? ) so any shoes I wear have to tie or buckle. I usually just buy what I can find cheap at Walmart. They wear out fast at work with all the hair.

The "Coast Fire" they think was started by power lines (maybe a transformer?). It will take awhile for them to investigate that tho. I feel bad for the people losing their homes and everything with it, but I also feel bad for the wildlife that are trying to flee the fires.

I decided I really need to clean up my front yard again. With all the wind lately, everything is covered in dust/dirt, and lots of debris blew into my carport and it all looks crappy. If I can get my butt out of bed early tomorrow, I can get that cleaned up before it gets hot out again. I don't want the neighbors to think I am a total lazy slob! :o (I am only a partial lazy slob! )

Catherine, I sent you a PM
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I really should be in bed so this will be short. As much as I want help and time off, I'm enjoying so much of the job. But I can't let myself get worn out. So I hope we can get help soon.

it's ok to have a lazy day right???   was going to go to the nursery but it rained was invited to birthday party for great granddaughter but for some reason I didn't want to go it was at least 1 hour plus 40 mins away would have had to take mom's car and it rained which might have been snow on the top of the pass... so opted out of that I did do my half row on the Swedish Weave.... usually do two but I called dd before I did the counting to get started and it's so hard to count when you are talking I think we talked over half hour probably good thing I only had time for the 1/2 row as I even cut the yarn for the next row and come to find out .... for the diamond part I'd gone far enough... oops I would have put in a row that I would have had to take out :o :o
getting a big chuckle out of this Murder she Wrote.... it's been funny for being a murder story!!! it's Grady's wedding and it's just been funny
Peggy make sure you tell Carolb hello for all of us she is missed
Beth so glad that you are enjoying your job but hope that you can find some workers.... it would make it a bunch easier I think
Judy when do you leave for England?
It's sounds like Sharon and Cheryl had a fun time and I do agree that we need to have more GTG that is one of the problems with my kids planning on just towing the 5th wheel down to Q for me and it's my fault as I haven't varied my route... I was planning on it when I had more financial freedom... but then I had to be here with mom guess when we do have gtg's I will just have to motel it although that doesn't alway's work out... well you all have a great day
