Good morning! Had a fun couple of days camping with Cheryl and sadly am home now! I hated to leave but real life gets in the way! This was my first trip for this summer and certainly hope for a few more! I enjoyed meeting Cheryl and her sweet little pup! I had some much going on when I was trying to load Lola so spent time at the cg trying to organize again! I just tossed things in a hoped for the best! Next trip will probably be easier since everything I usually carry and stored in the house is back in so will just be clothes and food I want to take! It’s always great to be able to meet one of the forum members. I finally decided to hire someone to help my get caught up with the yard and all the leaves still here. Just don’t work as long or at the speed I used to! So frustrating sometimes! So now just waiting for guy to come, failed to get time when he would show up so I have plenty else to do until he comes. Just hope the rain they are forecasting for this afternoon holds off! Looks like we are in for another string of rainy days. Sure glad Cheryl was able to move site yesterday think she would have fought mud otherwise. It was a really nice park but some of the sites were problematic, ours included. All part of it, I guess. Guess size does matter with getting in and out of a site, especially in a place you’ve never been. I spent last evening trying to check up on mail and reading what you gals have been up to in the last several days. The strangest part of my trip was not having my buddy with me so that’ll take some getting used to. It was a first step I guess. Strange having my bed all to myself for the first time ever. So that’s about all in my world right now. Just trying to get back in my groove today and get normal everyday things lined up. Hope you all have a great day and stay safe.

Nothing much new here today. I am losing my cheerleader enthusiasm for rain. I know how badly we need it but dang, lets have a couple of dry days...well we are supposed to have a decent weekend 70 and 71 predicted, then next week rain again. But if it helps keep the fires controlled guess I will just suck it up.

Nice to see some forum sisters meeting up. When I was on the road that was one of my favorite things to do, So enjoyed meeting new and old friends each and every time.

Got some laundry in the dryer, garbage is out, kitchen tidied up. Now pondering what to make for dinner. I am thinking Tempura shrimp and french fries. I buy the shrimp from Costco and it is a bit pricey but for just one person I can justify it. There are 30 in there and I only have 3 or 4 at a time. Homemade french fries in the air fryer and a small salad. Then will run the vacuum again. Ordered a Furminator for Emma as my last ones burnt in the fire and guess it was delivered to my mailbox last night so I better go get it and see if I can get some of that undercoat off of her. She is so darn itchy when she blows her coat.

Afternoon All, woke up to no power. Called on cell to make sure it was just me. Nope, so got dressed not knowing how long I would be with out power. Came on so hurried and turned on coffee maker. Priorities, right. Lol As usually surfing and found an interesting article. How to make a Dirty Shirley drink. Sounds interesting. Lol. I have so much junk to carry when I leave the apartment and a short memory. I have been using a ratty old bag that must be 30 yrs old. Just ordered a cute black and white polka dot shoulder tote so will be styling now. It has a pocket for a water bottle which is a necessity in summer. I also wear ratty old shoes because there is no longer shoe stores. I am not standing on one foot to try on shoes or fight for the limited seats in department stores. Can’t depend on favorite shoe brands either so I ordered a serious shoe stretcher too. Can’t style in ugly shoes. Lol Just kidding I wasn’t interested in styling when I was young but don’t want to look shabby. Another rainy weekend on the shore. Will just practice the Stroll wearing a polka dot tote while drinking a Dirty Shirley. Be safe

It is a bit cooler here today but it isn't windy for a change. Shirl, I wish we lived closer, we could practice the stroll, tell stories on ourselves and drink away our cares! I have worn Birkenstock shoes forever so I can order online. The only thing I like about my gas stove is that if the power goes off I can still have coffee! A friend of mine bought a new gas stove about 3 years ago and a burner exploded and caught on fire for the third time last week! After the first time when luckily her son was home he was able to put the fire out and turn off the propane. The company refused to replace it but did send someone to repair. This time she gave up and bought a new stove. When they installed it they said to turn it on 450 and leave the house and let it burn off all the chemicals for 30 minutes. She is still coughing from going back in to air her house out. I wonder if that is normal now?

Sharon I'm happy you and Cheryl got to meet up. Karen I'm glad my dogs don't shed much or have an undercoat. Pippa is the hardest to take care of as her coat is changing and I have to brush her every day. She is so shy I am going to have to do what ever grooming she gets. I used to groom all my dogs but would almost rather do a Poodle cut than work on her really fine hair.

I was reading the suggestions yesterday to drink a lot of water to stay hydrated. I love water and drank so much my sodium count was way down. I'm still not at normal count but I'm much better. My doctor told me to only drink four eight ounce glasses a day and between every glass of water drink something else. Not sure if the wine counts or not :) So if you don't know your count be sure to find out as it can make you feel reallllly bad with various symptoms. I am happy that I have finally gained weight, I weigh over 115 and I'll take donations as I would like to get to 125.

Afternoon all. Another hot 88 degrees here. Broke record 90 degrees yesterday. Way above normal. Should only be in mid 60’s. But this is last Dsy of it. Fortunately, humidity is not a problem.

Karen, send some rain here. We are bone dry. Fortunately no fires anywhere. But other than the Jack pines which need fire to regenerate and are very dry right now, rest of the trees are just now starting to leaf out, so any fires are mostly brush on the ground. Wild Cherry trees in bloom as sre a few other flowering trees. This is such a beautiful time of year with blue sky, blue water, flowering trees and all different shades of green. Plus wildflowers popping out too.

Been out snooping the garden centers, bought a few more flowers home, some are perennials. Also needed to get a masonry drill bit to drill some holes in my bird bath to make a flower planter. Birds have water in the lake and the bog back here and with the avian flu making so many sick or dying. , they are discouraging feeding birds as well as filling bird baths so birds do not congregate. It’s very contagious among the birds and can spread from wild to domestic ones. It’s been affecting the large scale egg producing companies, hence the reason egg prices are rising.

Shirl, you will have to let us know how the Dirty Shirl drink turns out :) You might try ordering some Skechers shoes. I know Martha likes thrm and I just bought a pair. So Comfty, am going to get another pair. Fits true to size. Can always send thrm back.

O’Sharon, glad you had a nice time visiting with Cheryl. If I had a van camper, I would be out, but budget can’t afford it, as making truck loan payments is enough.

Sue, a little glass of wine is as dirty as I get nowadays. Lol I need wide size and that isn’t available in a lot of shoes. Easy spirit was a favorite but the last pair was returned because the wide was too narrow. The whole country is off kilter.

I am breaking for ducks! I was gonna take my trash out to the golf cart but there are two mallard ducks in my driveway. I brought them some oats and put some in a little dish of water, so they are busy with that right now.

It is hot out, about 100*. I have been busy today tho. I went over to get my neighbors ladder and was able to get up to my skylights (from inside the house) to measure them and then I cut the reflectix to fit both skylights. I put self-sticking shelf liner on one side so they would look decent on the inside. Put those up. It sure cuts a lot of light out! So will be using the lights more in those rooms. Better tho than having all that heat pouring in!

My laundry is already getting washed. Once the ducks leave, I will get the trash to the dumpster. I also want to try and trap one of the cats later today. They are in hiding from the heat tho, so will see. I need to sit and watch the trap so in case I get one, it won't be sitting in there in the heat for long.

I think about 20 homes got totally destroyed in that fire in Laguna Beach area. It is still only 25% contained.

I better get back to the trash  !

Would like to see a video of you in your "style" outfit, holding onto your new purse, and doing the stroll!

I have terrible feet to buy shoes for. My feet are short, but the ball of my feet is very wide. Plus, I have an extremely high arch, the result of which is that it is very hard to get tie shoes or anything like a loafer to not hurt. I have worn SAS sandals for the last 15 years almost entirely. They are very expensive, but the two pair I am wearing now (not at the same time) are four and three years old, so they last a long time. I love them because I can adjust the straps over the ball of my foot, on the middle of my foot, and behind my heel. And they come in an extra wide, in my size 6.5. Have not bought any new shoes in over two years. There is a several story shoe store in London called Lily Whites, so I might try to find some canvas shoes there.

Got my stitches out this morning, and just hope the hole between the missing tooth and my sinus heals over the next few months. Dentist said there is another treatment that involves donating your own blood and having them take the solids and combine them with more bone. Apparently the condensed personal blood helps healing. I do not want a third bone graft procedure without doing something different. Cannot put in an implant without hole healing or I might have an implant migrate into my sinus cavity!! (I usually heal very well, and my recent blood work shows plenty of calcium in my blood.)

when we first started RV'ing I heard from someone about Woky I think is how it's spelled found a pair never paid that much for shoes let alone sandals. however they lasted forever... I need to replace them I can't imagine what they cost now... did get sketcher's last time I got shoes I either got the wrong size or something even though they don't feel tight or short but I wear them they wear on my big toe and my knee doesn't want me to bend it right and makes it hard to get on plus the back of the shoe turns in as its soft.... hard to explain I've had Sketcher's in the past and liked them just this particular ones not so much... my sister gave me some SAS??? is sandals several years ago even though they should have been a size larger I've worn them for a long time...
did a load of clothes cooked a roast and finished a batch of indexing oh and finished that pile of mags... I go through them and make sure I've read them then pull out recipes that sound good and I'll probably never try but they are there then have them in a box and a bag... have a friend in SLC who's daughter is handicapped and she likes to tear up magazines so save them and drop them off occasionally hopefully my dd will take them with her if not then will take them the next trip to Utah...
until I saw the post name didn't put the two together knew it was the 13th knew it was Friday but just didn't think of it... good thing I'm rarely superstitious
you all have a good night

Regarding SAS shoes. My dog show friend Cindy, and Josef and Jane's Breeder, has worn SAS shoes for years. First as and educator who was on her feet all day and now retired and continuing to show her dogs with shoes in all sorts of coordinating colors. Years ago she found, though a friend and another SAS shoe enthusiast, that you can find SAS shoes online for greatly reduced prices. SInce she is very knowledgeable regarding the styles and what fits her, she has been able to purchase additional shoes, some new and some slightly used for greatly reduced prices. I have looked myself but once again my choices are very limited because SAS makes so few styles in my size. Same with Sketchers.

Interesting posts about shoes. I, too, have always had a problem with shoes. Since I retired, I mostly wear cheapo Walmart sandals - winter and summer (in winter, I just wear them with socks - it doesn't get that cold here, and in the last few years it doesn't seem to get that wet, either :( ), mostly because these fit me and are comfortable - and, of yes, I always buy MEN's sandals, size 8 1/2 (have bought men's sandals for many years). Mainly because women's sandals don't seem to fit my feet, and also men's sandals seem to be a touch better made.

Thanks for the info, ladies. I think I will need to check out SAS and Sketchers, especially if I can get them online, and especially if I can return them if they don't fit. Although I HATE doing returns.

Eh, it is what it is, I guess.

Anne

Skechers were recommended to me last summer and unfortunately don't work for my planter fasciitis. Plus they are too big, and I wear wide width. It might be the style, but I purchased the style recommended to me. That said they are comfortable short term. A specific style of Crocs sandals are the best shoes for my plantar fasciitis (go figure) so they are my go tos all year. But I've been wearing moccasins in the office because they don't mark up the floor that I'm constantly washing lol
