Morning. Rainy morning here in northern Michigan. Snow is moving from the NW. We were under an ice storm Warning yesterday till early afternoon when the rain finally moved in. This was my deck yesterday morning". And the yard and everything else were coated as well. But no power outages, downed limbs or branches. Never know what Mom Nature has in store when spring arrives here.

Barbie, my cholesterol has been high too and I will not take statins as they give me muscle cramps. I was talking to my Chiropractor about it and she recommended a supplement called “SPM Activate”. They are Specialized Pro-resolving Mediators. . https://www.metagenics.com/spm-active

https://www.metagenicsinstitute.com/blo ... esilience/

Basically what it does is reduce inflammation in your body, which is the cause of a lot of our health issues. Combined with the right diet, it can reduce Cholesterol levels. When I started it, my Cholesterol was 236 and within less than a couple months, this took it down to 150. I haven’t had it checked recently and have to admit that I haven’t been watching my diet this past winter and put on weight. But I know that Staying away from breads, pasta and especially sweets can go a long way to losing weight and cholesterol. I know I need to get back in my fish, chicken etc. routine. Red meat is also supposed to be bad for cholesterol.so I don’t eat a lot of it. Alcohol is another source of cholesterol issues because of the sugar. But no problem for me as I don’t drink alcohol anyway. Pop neither except for an occasional mini can of Vernors. Changing a diet is not easy. Requires a bit of work and discipline, but once you start seeing the results, it’s worth it. One doesn’t have to give up stuff forever, you can have a glass of wine or a cookie or something once in awhile, when you get down to your goal as a reward. Sugar is my downfall and I don’t keep sweets in the house, because they are a trigger for me. What is my favorite meals is to take a big bowl of romaine lettuce and add cooked chicken, some tomatoes and whatever else I want on it and have that with nothing else because it is filling. And lettuce is free of calories etc., so you can eat it anytime.

Enough diet stuff. Yes this is going to be a woodcraft and maybe some genealogy day again. Hope all hose in the south came through the storms okay. Guess I will go get cleaned up and dressed and get my day rolling along here. Have a nice dsy everyone and Stsy safe.

Morning Sue and All, goofy weather, cloudy and 60°with severe t- storms this evening. While the weather is deciding what direction to take I am going to Lowes for two plants that are in stock. Lowes is very crowded on weekends so will try to sneak in and out quickly. Will stay home over the weekend and play in dirt. Thinking of southern members. Be safe

Hi Sue, Shirl & others!

Don't forget to say Rabbits either after midnight tonight or first thing in the morning!

I can't remember if I mentioned that our convection oven/microwave in our casita quit working on Christmas Day. The technician is coming tomorrow for the 3rd time to try to get it going. On the last appointment the part they ordered was the wrong part, so they're going to try again. Fortunately the convection oven in the motorhome works, so it's just an inconvenience running back and forth but it gives me a few more steps. The front that hit Martha yesterday will arrive this evening. It's been overcast all day and the winds and rain should show up around dinner time.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Slept in late this morning. Looks like another sunny, breezy day today. Gonna start inching up toward 90 into the weekend and then 90's next week. It's getting to be that time of year.

I love breads, pastas, and sweets so this will be a challenge for me for sure. I don't eat much red meat other than the occasional fast food burger. I do love chicken and turkey. I know I eat a lot of chips, dip, cookies, chocolate, cheesy things, etc. I like fruits and some veggies (carrots, peas, corn, green beans, potatoes, and occasionally broccoli). I am going to see if my doctor can refer me to a dietitian to work out some healthier meal plans. I think my air fryer will finally come in handy now! I could stand to lose about 15 pounds as well.

Sue, I will check out that link you shared. I know inflammation is also causing some of my shoulder issues or at least making them worse.

I gave Lola a little extra canned food yesterday and it gave her loose stools so will cut back today. It is a delicate balance with her.

I have a new list of things to do for today (consolidated the other lists). I better get started on that. It is almost noon!

Don't forget "Rabbits" tonight!!

Enjoy your day!

Barbie, like Karen & Velda, I've been on a low carb diet for 6+ years and am at the point that I don't miss the pastas, breads & potatoes. I'm not going to say I haven't cheated, because I have, but it's been minimal. When I fix spaghetti for Steve, I make a burger for me and put the sauce over it. Sloppy Joes and pulled pork are served on my plate with maybe a veggie as a side. We don't buy from fast food restaurants at all. It takes a little discipline but it's so easy to do. Good luck.

I am looking forward to more of your gourds!

I'm in Page, AZ after a mostly uneventful long day of driving. Only hit wind for about 1/2 an hour and rain a couple times, but mostly a great day to drive. Tomorrow will be a short driving day and I'll reach my destination. I wish I could understand why Page has gas prices 20 to 50+ cents higher then anywhere else I passed in Arizona. Oh well.

There's a Safeway in Page so I might stop there in the morning. I haven't been in one for a long time and won't have one in Utah.

Spent most of today at my aunt's facility. When I got there, she was napping on the couch in the neighborhood common room, so I was able to slip past her and get the caregiver unlock her room. Then the two of us went in and went through her closet to remove pants that were way too small and some tops that were stained and very old. Also found a strange pair of pants and a couple of men's shirts! Put everything in bags I had brought and snuck it out to car. Then gave caregiver the new towels, nightgowns, socks and knee-highs, plus 7 shirts I had bought. At this point, I woke up aunt and had her try on one of the three new pairs of pants. She went from a Petite Small to a Petite Large! But at least after all my shopping and returning stuff, I now know what fits her!

While she was at lunch, since i could not eat with her, I stayed in her room and shortened two of the three pairs of new pants. Third I think is OK. Also called my fellow-POA and gave her the measurements for inseam and outside seam, plus I laid pants on bed and gave her waist measurements so she can buy pants and get them shortened.

She was in a much better mood today--not angry at me, but still weepy about how much she misses her husband, my uncle. Funny story--she has had an extra walker in her room for so long, that caregivers thought it was hers as a spare. I had told them yesterday that she was supposed to have only ONE walker, and it was the one she was using that had her name on it. So, I took extra one to the nursing office, but they left it outside the room. So, this afternoon, just as I was leaving, one of the male residents was walking very fast through the place pushing the infamous walker backwards. In other words, he was pushing it from the bar across the front, and not holding onto the handles. And he was dangerous because he was speeding. So two caregivers caught him just as we were walking by, and they told him that this was my aunt's extra walker so it had to go into her room!!! I intervened and corrected them and told them to put it back, but inside of the nursing administrators office, not outside it in the hall!! I am guessing that several weeks or months ago, my aunt found it and took it to her room. She did the same once with a cane that belonged to someone, and also had taken about 20 books from library! Need to clean her room of "extra" things every once in a while!!

Very happy to be heading north tomorrow. It is really exhausting to visit and do all this shopping. I rented a car, but I am NOT used to driving one and especially NOT used to north Atlanta traffic.

wow don't know how that happened but my whole page was just wiped out it highlighted and then pop gone... if I knew more about computers I'd probably know what I did to cause it but I don't just need to re type what I had written .
so a recap  Barbie have you ever tried steel cut oatmeal? it has a different texture than the regular oatmeal. I like both but actually prefer the steel cut just haven't remembered to make up some since it takes so long to cook I cook it ahead and then reheat what will be used.. I like this recipe that the guy from good eats put out can't think right now what his name is...
most foods are ok unless you are allergic to it... it's how much one consumes that creates the problem..
Beth glad that you have made it that far and will be back where you will be for the summer tomorrow will they be ready for you?
did find what my error was in my Swedish Weave at least I think I did as I just don't remember doing something that I should have now to find my center mark again for some reason it came out or I just not finding it so pretty much starting all over which is ok it will go ok this time...
have been making these crocheted pot holders as I was working on one I thought why can't I make a scarf using this pattern??? so going to try and see what happens
ran and got groceries and then stopped at the fish truck they park in the grocery store parking lot... and grabbed a fish and chips with an extra fish last time I got it we each had one and a half and decided that wasn't enough this time mom only ate 1 so we had one piece left over it's now in the freezer guess next time I will get another extra in time will have enough for us to have fish when the truck isn't here...
you all have a great day and don't forget rabbit's

Sheila, I have had that happen where the whole post gets highlighted and then disappears. So frustrating!

I got most of the things on my list done today! :D I went thru what was left over from the sale and put out the smaller stuff in the driveway for free. The other things that I wanted more money for, I put $5 prices on and reposted them on our community's FB page. Got rid of a few more things and some may go tomorrow. I just need it gone. Not putting anything back in the shed this time.

Made some tuna salad. I also ordered a couple things to try the a couple of you recommended for my cholesterol. Cholestoff and the anti-inflammatory (reading about that was very interesting!). I called my doctor and she wants to have me work on my diet and exercise for 2 months and then re-evaluate things in June before talking about meds. So I hope I can get these numbers down by then. Thank you for your suggestions and comments! I plan on doing more research on all this.

Just waiting for midnight to say "rabbits". I keep falling asleep so maybe I will have to remember in the morning if I can't stay awake til midnight.

I used to eat oats every morning. An easy way is in the microwave I used 1/4 cup old fashioned oats (like Quaker Oats) and 1/2 cup water microwave for 2 minutes. I bought the quick cook organic oats in bulk at our Coop. Is there a Whole Food store near you? I added fresh or frozen organic grapes and blueberries. Grapes freeze well and I would buy them a few at a time when in season and freeze, same for blueberries. Oats are a bit high in sugar content so I did not add sugar, the fruit sweeten them enough. Before I had oats though I would have an egg with a slice of toast with a little butter. Having a bit of protein before something sweet like the oatmeal will help keep your sugar from spiking. Breakfast is your most important meal of the day. I always took a healthy snack with me when I went out so as not to be tempted or in case I needed to eat.Good luck it isn't as hard as it sounds and soon you won't be able to stand the taste of fast food !

Good morning, Sheila, Barbie.

If you (or anyone) has a post, or a part of a post, that is accidentally highlighted, and then suddenly "disappears", or just seems to disappear all on it's own, try this:

Hold down the "Ctrl" (control) button on your keyboard (lower bottom left on my particular keyboard), and (while still holding the control button down), tap the "z" letter key and see if it comes back.
