Morning everyone. Beautiful sunny morning here in northern Michigan. Heading into mid 50’s, snow is melting. Looking pretty nice for the week, maybe cooling a bit toward weekend with a bit of rain. But this is a false spring as I call it. Winter will be back for a last hurrah. The roads are thawing down to bare pavement, so pretty soon I can shed my traction cleats. Fence guy thinks he might be able to finish my job next week if all goes well.
Martha, seems funny you are happy to see rain, when last year you were wishing it would quit so you could get the mowing done. But we all know how unpredictable weather is.
Velda, you are right about those home Covid tests. They are only good for a short time. I got some last month when they were sent to everybody who wanted some and first thing I did was look for an expiration date. Yep, July.
Barbie, sounds like you are having some fun times right now. Enjoy. Shirl, I’ll bet the balcony garden is pretty. I’ve been thinking abou starting some flower seeds from scratch as the stuff is now in the stores.
Off to get a load of washing done, run the vac and then later, cut and miter the mouldings for the bathroom. So have a wonderful day all.

Morning all. Starting out sunny here too and temps supposed to hit low 60’s! Snow is almost gone here too. False spring. Gotta agree, Sue. But I’ll take what I can get! All the talk of lasagna makes me hungry for seafood lasagna. I’d have to look for a recipe since I haven’t been able to find the one I had copied years ago. But it is so good! Judy, hope your cold is doing better today. And sounds like everyone else are starting to feel better. Noticed fewer people wearing masks but I still do. Rascal is seemingly doing better today. Sure glad I got him off the Gabapentin. I would never use it again, nasty stuff. At least in my opinion. I’m noticing more green shots coming out front. Hope they don’t get frozen out if the temps turn! Shirl, how’s the lettuce doing? Goodness, jut looked at the clock and guess I’d better get a move on since the day is half over! Have a good day, everyone!

Good morning gals!
Those of you up north, at least when you get snow from now on, it won't last very long!
I posted about my Wabi Sabi gourd on the "For The Love of Gourds" page on FB yesterday. I have been reading thru the comments (75) and many have brought tears to my eyes. This one really got to me...
"Absolutely stunning! When I first saw this and read it I immediately looked at is as “My Broken and damaged heart”. I actually teared up. You see my heart is broken because my precious son passed away. The meaning behind this touched me and gives me hope that one day my heart will live again even though it’s broken. Sorry for sharing so much but it’s amazing how things touch everyone differently. Thank you. "
I am overwhelmed by the responses I have gotten from here and on FB.
Need to get up and moving here. Gotta go thru my shed and pull out some things for the sale. Same thing with the porch. Then go thru the bins of small stuff I want to put in there as well. I can't forget to go to the bank today or tomorrow to get cash too! Then get my sale signs put together (need to find my staple gun
) and pick up some balloons tomorrow night.
The putters luncheon was fun yesterday. Ate good food and had some contests and raffles. I didn't win anything this time but had some stiff competition!
It is gonna be a warm day today, around 90* but it is pretty breezy out so that will help it to feel a little more comfortable.
Enjoy your day!

I have one bathed doggy waiting to load up in the mini van. Heading to Louisville and their four day show. I’ve felt better but am just trying to pace myself and rest in between tasks. Cindy and I are driving separately but will both be staying with our friend Lyn and home of Audrey’s Mother Izzi and sister Daisy. Izzi is 12 now, deaf and a diabetic who requires insulin daily. She is still dedicated to her top job and full time love…. Looking after Lyn’s husband Bill. Dogs choose.

I know Sue, it's not often I am wishing for rain. In a month I'll probably slap myself. lol This area was in an extreme drought and under a burn ban.
Sharon, I haven't seen seafood lasagna advertised but the lunch places all have seafood on Wednesdays and Fridays for lent. A country grocery store about 15 miles from here has Crawfish or Shrimp Étouffée and Crawfish Fettuccine today. The grocery store in town has Shrimp and Corn Bisque. Now I'm hungry. lol
I never have paid much attention to the Crepe Myrtle tree in the yard but noticed that it looks dead. Not a leaf on it. I looked it up online and it says they are the last things to leaf out in the spring. Hope that's true and it's not dead.
Have fun Tina.
If I can get moving I think I'll go to town. Walmart is probably wondering where I am.

Sharon, I agree with you about the Gabapentin. That is one of the drugs they prescribe for Trigenminal Neuralgia which I have. I wasn't able to tolerate it and I only took a couple of doses. I have wondered why it suddenly has become so popular with vets as a treatment for so many things. I saw this article a few months ago which agrees with your opinion.
https://www.dogsnaturallymagazine.com/g ... scribe-it/A friend of mine who was told after having a MRI locally she had some very serious health issues but it would be six weeks before they could schedule her for another test they needed to do. It was supposed to have been last Tuesday. Monday they called and said they had changed their mind and she need a different test and they could schedule her for May! She declined, then called a large medical center in another state and she had the test there yesterday. She does not have any of the issues she was told she had here! We are so relieved but also so sad that she had to spend months worrying.

Martha I have one in my yard also at the end of my front deck. I too thought it was dead last year. So I cut it way back in anticipation of digging it out. I didnt even know what it was. Well one day I went out there to water the flowers and it was just leafing away. Uh oh, still didnt know what it was but deemed it alive. By summer I realized it was a crepe Myrtle. So I was much kinder to it LOL I like seafood fettucini but not much on the Etouffee as it is too rich for my liking. Tina glad you are feeling better and have fun at the dog show.
Barbie that lady's response was indeed heartbreaking. Made me wish I had one to send her LOL she wouldnt want one of mine for sure. I have no artsy fartsy talent like so many of you on here. I have medium gardening talent and techy talent. That is pretty much it. Oh I might be able to save a life or two if really needed LOL
Not much else going on here, the sun is out with a bit of a chilly breeze but it is bright out so that improves my mood. Now I want seafood fettuccini for dinner. Had a roll of Girl Scout thin mints for dinner LOL LOL last night.

Afternoon All, it is a perfect day, sunny and warm. Tried rearranging the balcony furniture but need an extra pair of hands. So aggravating to wait for help to do what I could do in minutes in the past. Watered the crops on the balcony and the sunny warm weather has helped. Daughter said she sees green in two jugs so hope it isn’t weeds. Lol. I am usually very organized but age has changed that. Too much going on in my little world. Being on call for injured brother has me running in circles. Seafood fettuccine is now on my menu for one day this week. Be safe

Good afternoon! I am taking a break.
I have gone thru my shed and pulled out a lot of stuff for the sale. Still need to do a lot of organizing in there (later)! I found 2 air purifiers.
I was planning to buy one but I guess I don't have to now!
Will sell one and keep one. I have 2 vacuum cleaners, a dust mop, and a floor cleaner to sell. I found a box of pool (swimming) stuff. I have 4 inflatable swim chairs, and I don't even use the pools!
I am keeping one just in case I get invited by someone to go swimming sometime. I found some St Patricks Day stuff I had bought to decorate my golf cart 2 years ago but never got to use because Covid hit and everyone left the park for Canada just before St Patty's Day that year. I was just putting it at the end of my driveway for someone who might want it for tomorrow's parade, when there was a woman walking past my place who was carrying some decorations of her own. I asked if she wanted some more and she was happy to take them. She is helping to decorate for the dance tomorrow after the parade. Perfect timing!
I love fettuccine alfredo with or without chicken. The only thing about ordering it out, is I can never finish my order (fills me up fast!) and I end up with leftovers and it doesn't keep well.
Need to get back to work here. My eyes are irritated from all the dust on everything from the shed! I guess I need to wear goggles when I go in there!

Cough is slowly getting better, but I have so much sinus drainage, I can just feel the stuff dripping in my throat. I take one sudafed per day in the morning, and once that kicks in, I usually dry up for the rest of the day. Still got a sinus headache, but never did have a fever. Frankly, I had been fighting allergies ever since last October when I got to Georgia and all its pine forests. After I had CLL treatment, my allergies pretty much got a lot better--not sure why. I don't have much problems out west, but I did get into smoke a couple of years ago, which made me go back on my asthma inhalers for about 6 months. Then had quit them, but have started them up again.
And mosquito bites are much more pale today, with the older ones having completely disappeared, so no itching.
Martha, all your talk of seafood and crawfish and shrimp and corn bisque is driving me crazy! I am going to have to stop by your place next time I am in that area and get you to help me find some really good Louisiana food.
And Barbie, as I said in the general posting, you really need to take advantage of your talents in making gourds. Think of the trips you could take for your efforts! I was thinking that you could even tie on a little tag with the information about imperfect things.
Made it to the Big Cypress Preserve, way way down south in Florida, and am Midway Campground. Nearest gas is 25 miles, along with a convenience store, but real grocery stores are 50 miles away! And nothing here but peace, quiet, and a few alligators in the pond. I was greeted by a big snake when I was hooking up late this afternoon, but he scurried away and did not look poisonous. Son says he is just a harmless North American Racer.
My motorhome is way over-packed with 9 days of food, obviously, since i do not want to drive a long ways. Cannot stuff anything else in freezer or refrigerator, to say the least.

I had a lovely time in town. I was going to get gas at Walmart and the person ahead of me stops at the first pump instead of pulling ahead to the next pump. If I wasn't afraid of getting shot I would have honked at them. When I was checking out I get in a line with someone with one of the cards for food for babies. The cashier and the customer kept putting things in the cart and taking things out and rescanning them. They are trying to figure out what the card covers. I'm sorry you can't pay for your groceries but please figure out what you can buy before you get to the register. Walmart needs to put a list in the baby department of what is covered. This is not the first time this has happened to me. I was blocked in but the people behind me finally changed lanes and I did too. I'm getting like Harold, everything pisses me off.
When I was loading things in the car a neighbor comes to help me load things because I had a 35 pound bag of cat food and a container of cat litter. I must really be looking weak because everyone wants to help me lift things.
Judy, one thing we have here is good food. Of course Louisiana probably has some of the most overweight people in the nation. It's a fight to not eat too much. If you are coming through Louisiana come by and we will find some seafood.
Karen, the Crepe Myrtle was planted in 1975 when we built the old house and I'm just now noticing that it doesn't leaf out until the end of March or April.
I found some Girl Scouts selling cookies last week. They didn't have much left but I got 2 boxes of thin mints. I'm doing pretty good, I just finished one roll today. I'm only allowed one cookie at a time and not every time I go in the kitchen.

I haven't even seen any girl scouts... would love a Samoa and one of the other cookies right now can't recall but if I saw it would know it!!!
I'm always surprised when I see a movie on Hallmark mysteries that I've not seen tonight was a Signed, Seal and Delivery was really good
Shirl I don't know if you are on FB and if we are friends but I posted something that I saw on you Tube that I thought you would enjoy seeing... Karen you might as well and I know that you are friends so be sure and take a peak, Shirl I don't know if you could find it by doing a search using IKEA bags for raised beds... anyway it was pretty interesting...
we had a bit of sleet today but not the whole day of snow as predicted.. it lasted oh maybe 7 minutes..
which is really too bad as we so need it... it's not a false spring here... that if we call it that happens in maybe May lol
I've never been many places where seafood in fresh and abundant they may say fresh here but you know it's got to be fresh frozen and then thawed but it will taste good...
Barbie you really must have touched a lot of people's hear with what you posted.. that message would have touched me as well have to feel for her ...
you all have a great day

Sheila, I went to your FB page and got the link for Shirl:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VP9N9Ve2h4M&feature=shareBarbie, I had tears in my eyes reading what they person posted to you. And I understood it. I agree with everyone who has said or thought that doing gourds along these lines could become a great side line for you.

Sheila, I used grow bags (not the same kind he had) last year to try and grow some potatoes in. I had them in the full sun in black grow bags, I got lots of greenery but I never got one potato LOL It was way too hot for them in the full sun, And of course we had some SUPER HOT 117° temps for a couple of days. He had some good tips for other stuff to put in the bag besides just soil. I watched a couple of videos on grow bag gardening last month and I have about 10 grow bags from 10gal to 30 so we will see what happens this year.

Karen, did you plant potato eyes, just cover them, then add soil every time greenery grew to cover that? That How I learned to grow them. It's along that stem that you gradually cover where potatoes form. We grew them in a giant t bag years ago and our biggest issue was finding enough dirt to keep topping them off, so we only got about half bag of potatoes!
