Morning from the 45th. Cloudy and 20°. Warmer then it has been for the last few mornings. Just wanted to get the Coffee on this morning. Breakfast is on your own as I’m heading to the basement to finish painting a storeroom. Did half of it yesterday. By the time I finished taping everything, And painted half the room, it was mid afternoon and I decided that was enough. Lot of shelving to paint around. Hadn’t been out for a walk in two days due to cold and bit icy road. So took the girls out for a walk around the neighborhood since we had just a light layer of fresh snow which gives walking traction. They had a million smells to check out and a squirrel that Piper wanted to chase in the neighbors yard, but of course she was leashed. We stood and watched hed it scamper up a pine tree, then across a limb, jump to next tree, then jump from that tree to the next while Piper had a fit in the ground

So off to get busy here. Shouldn’t take long as everything is taped, so it’s just paint and thrn take off the tape. I mixed my own paint for this project as wanted to use up some leftover paints I had. So the white got mixed with a blue and came out pretty nice. Very calming shade of blue. Not too bright, not too dark. Might make a nice bathroom color. Going to keep the codes for the blue in case I want to do it again.

Judy, isn’t there an an RV dealer you could go to to get your issue taken care of?

Have a nice dsy everyone :)

Good morning everyone. I decided to take a little break from the forum I love so much because I didn’t think I had much to offer. I sold my RV so no more traveling to tell you about; the pandemic changed life for everyone; I wore you out with all my paintings; I don’t cook and don’t have an air fryer so couldn’t contribute great recipes; etc., etc.

I’ve missed you all and consider all of you my close friends whether we’ve met personally or just online. I love this forum and have realized (along with a kick in the behind from Beth - thanks Beth) that the forum and all of you are a huge part of my life that I enjoy and need in my life.

Today I’ll be catching up on what you’ve all been doing.
Sandi

Morning Sue and All. It’s 30° but feels like 40° or so accuweather says. I will see when I take a stroll to the dumpster. #2 daughter says my cute pjs are called lounge wear and some people even wear them outdoors. My pj out fit today is long sleeve black top and black, gray and white checked pants. Sooo today I am emptying trash in my longe wear and of course wild socks. The most scandalous thing I have done in years. Might start a new tradition “Grannies in pjs” A horrible thought, hope I don’t make it on Facebook. Be safe

Good morning. Am starting to feel much better. It is only day 3 on the meds but they are pretty much doing their job so I have high hopes. Still just lounging around this weekend. I ate better yesterday than I have so I am sure I will be finding my "lost" weight real soon. Will throw in a load of laundry after while and clean my kitchen after I fix some breakfast. I need to go to the store tomorrow just for a few things. Need more juice, veggies and a little fruit. I am sure there will be more but will go early tomorrow and get it over with.

Good to see you posting Sandi, we missed you. I too sold my RV but I have made so many friendships on here that I find dont involve traveling. I love keeping up with everyones travels but there are lots of us that are no longer traveling but enjoy the company and comfort of each other. My life is not very exciting but it is still fun to post and exchange ideas and happenings. I like feeling connected.

Shirl I too am wearing my "loungewear" and phooey on anyone that doesnt like it. I do not wear it out shopping, etc but around my house and yard you betcha. I want to get painting but right now I need to get 100% better before I tackle any major chores. Just reading Sue's happening makes me tired LOL

Yesterday was a mix of good and not-so-good.

The drive around LA to get to Orange County was awful (typical) with tons of traffic, stop and go, accidents, fire along freeway, etc. I finally got to a highway that runs thru the lower hills south to where I was headed. Everything was so green! It was nice to see that after years of brown all over! Took 2 1/2 hours to get to my destination in Trabuco Canyon. Beautiful area with old oak trees and windy roads with horse farms tucked in here and there.

Gloria, the lady I am going to be staying with is very nice! I got to watch her demonstrate some carving techniques. My little gourd I found at home to use will be the perfect size for the class next week. Got some great tips from her. The only thing I discovered later is that the dust from carving the gourd is very irritating to my eyes! My eyes were itchy, watery, blurry and puffy all day! Will definitely need to pack my goggles!

After leaving there, I drove to a nearby town to have lunch at Epic Wings, my favorite place! We don't have any in the valley so when I find one, I always stop! Yum!

After that, I got checked into my motel room which is very nice. I decided then to go down to the beach and get some sunset photos, especially at the Victoria Tower which was built in the early 1900's by a resident that has a spiral staircase inside to get down to the beach from their home. It isn't used anymore but is very cool to look at.
Anyway, that is when everything went south on me :o . I got hopelessly lost! I got turned around on the wrong highway and then finally had to turn around. I then found a road that I thought was the one that went down to Laguna Beach. When I got to the Coast Hwy, I turned left thinking I was north of Laguna Beach. After about 15 minutes I found myself coming into Dana Point! Way off course and way south of LB! By this time I am racing to get ahead of the sunset! I turned around and headed back north. By the time I got near LB, the sun had already set! :( Then the traffic in town was absolutely horrendous! I got turned around on the downtown streets after thinking I could actually find a parking spot. Took me 20 minutes to get back to the Coast Hwy! Then I finally found the highway east to go back to my motel. At the intersection for that turn, the traffic was at a standstill. I waited 10 minutes and no cars ever moved. Luckily, I was still at the intersection waiting to turn right, so I decided to head straight, north on the Coast Hwy and find another way. The only road east off that highway wasn't until I got all the way up to Newport Beach! Got on that and then back tracked on a freeway back to the motel! This all took me 2 1/2 hours! What should have taken me 15 minutes to get from the motel to Laguna Beach! By the time I got back to the motel I was a wreck, both physically and emotionally! I have never gotten that lost and confused before. :? I was on and off at toll road about 4 times during that wild goose chase (besides twice on the way to Trabuco Canyon), so I can only imagine the bill I am going to have for that when I get home!

So, today I am not looking forward to the drive back home. I was going to go back to Laguna Beach but I am sure the traffic will be bad again and I am already exhausted. I might try to go to the Victoria Tower and see if I can get a place to park around there. I am definitely NOT driving back thru LA! I will go the south route that is less traffic and more familiar to me. It will take a little longer because of the mountain passes but less stressful.

At least I slept good! My eyes are still sore and tired from the driving and carving dust. So I will take my time heading home and stop when I need to. I sure hope the trip next week goes better than this one!

Yay Sandi! If you disappear again, I'll kick you in the butt sooner. And if you read many of my posts you'll find weather a recurring theme. So exciting, not :D I hope you'll post more of your artwork. I think of you daily whenever I go past my fridge (which has your art on it).

Sue, I'm always amazed by everything you do. And for those of you who talk about father's not teaching you.... My dad was not in the least handy. That said, he always told me I could do anything if I really wanted to. But my mom had to put bicycles together, etc. There is the story though of my dad borrowing a neighbor to help put together a train set for my brother. This would have been the early 50's, me a baby, so my memories are of the stories told and retold. My dad and Jack did get that train set working. And by morning when my brother found it under the tree, all the batteries were dead from dad and Jack playing with it. Of course that was long before stores were open on Christmas.

Ty is begging for a walk, long overdue, so I best get to it. It's up to 55 and cloudy now and will get to lower 60's today. I'm looking forward to Monday when the weather will be sunny more than cloudy and 60's and low 70's return for highs.

Karen and Barbie just beat me with posts. Karen, I'm so glad you're seeing the light at the end of this very long tunnel!

Mornin ' ladies!~~~
Sandi glad you're back! Many ladies may be off the road, but we still miss you. I still hope to get back your way, since at some point I have to get north of Monterrey, just not sure when that may be yet.

Things are winding down here at Dad's. The stuff left in the house is the bed I'm sleeping on and everything from the camper since it's in storage. Definately echo-y in here. Pretty much waiting for tax stuff since I have 7 returns to get done this year. Yikes! I'm sure this will cost a pretty penny, or a couple thousand pennies.

I'm putting the Florida condo for sale. A step cousin also has the same unit in the same complex and his is already sold as is. He's already cleaned out the personal belongings for me and is getting the rugs cleaned tomorrow. I'll be using the same realtor he is using. Fingers crossed it goes quickly.

As for the house, I'll be selling that also. I've never been a fan of this house, except for the lot and it would just cost to much to update it. I have a cousin who is a realtor, but I'm waiting on an offer from a real estate that buys and flips houses first. Listing the house would be a major headache. It would be sold 'as is' but I really don't want the headache of saying I'm not fixing anything, going thru inspections, etc. We'll see.

On a happier note, I'm actually making camping reservations! Woohoo!!! Picking the camper up mid-April, bringing it to dad's for a few days to load it up and have an appointment to get it de-winterized. Heading to WI for a bit to visit a couple of cousins, then east. Figured I needed to get started on routes and finding campgrounds with Memorial Day and 4th of July quickly approaching. Heading towards New England to check Arcadia off my list, then a bit of meandering out east with Tennessee at some point. I need to start thinking about buying something. Not a big fan of Florida, but you never know. Will also look around Texas a bit more (in the hill country). Hoping to get out to AZ for next winter.

That's all from me in the snowy, cold Chitown burbs. At least Woodstock Willie didn't see his shadow like Phil did. Have a good day, stay safe, stay warm, be happy!

I never could find any turkey thighs so bought a package of wings. I'm baking them for lunch and making cornbread dressing. I make a batch of the ingredients for the dressing and freeze it. All I have to add is the cornbread, eggs and chicken broth and bake it.

It's 51 and sunny. It will probably get up to 60 today. It looks like we will have a week of nice weather. No plans for this week. I'm still trying to get in touch with the plumber to get my kitchen faucet installed and the toilet fixed. It looks like my neighbor had someone install a new toilet. There must have been more work than that because the guy was there for 3 days. When she gets back from Florida I am going to ask who they used.

Sandi, I can't say that my life is very exciting or that I do much traveling either. Just look forward to seeing what everyone is up to.

Shirl, I'm afraid there are pictures of me in my lounge wear on Facebook. I just hope they are in the private camping groups. When the Walmart camping PJ's first came out there was a picture taken at a campout with all of us in the same PJ's with a deputy sheriff that drove through the campground. Sugar usually gets her first walk at a campout with me in my PJ's and robe or a long coat.

Karen, glad you are feeling better.

Barbie, sorry you had such a hard time on your trip. I hate getting lost. I took a different road when I left the car service place last week and ended up going East instest of West. There are a lot of places I think about going but know it will be hard to find a parking place and have to walk a long way. I just don't go. When I had the smaller RV sometimes I would go places really early to find a parking place and just hang out in the RV. I liked having my room with the private bathroom.

Cheryl, glad you have a cousin to help you in Florida so you don't have to go see about it. I don't know how things are selling in Florida but houses sell fast here.

Martha

Good morning!

Sandi, I'm sorry I didn't get in touch with you, but glad Beth did. Certainly a number of us here without a RV anymore.

Karen, glad you are getting better. Barbie, getting lost is something I'm very good at! So thankful for GPS and Waze! :) Cheryl, I would think your places will sell fast. There's a newly remodeled older mobile home for sale in the kids' park, and I am so tempted! If it were on the river side, I'd be more tempted. Sue, poor Piper. :) Beth, cute train story! None of my sons-in-law are handy, but both daughters are. Their dad taught them (and me) well!

I won't say I'm bored because I knew when I moved here I'd become a hermit, but cloudy days can bring me down. I got dressed to go to the grocery store yesterday, and I put it off another day or 2 or 3. I've been working on a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle so projects have been on hold. :) Probably the most relaxed I've been since I moved in here. The Christmas tree has become 'Some of my favorite things' tree. It'll get holiday items when I can shop again. It sits in front of my patio door so I close those blinds every evening and turn the tree on. :) No crazy old lady here. Friend of 50 years called Friday - 4 hours! We have the best discussions, but that's a long time on the phone!

Have a good day and be safe!

Cold and very windy today, plus it rained heavily last night, so not many people outdoors. Lots of trucks and cars around RVs so I know people are home. We are very close to the ocean beach, but I doubt if anyone is out fishing or walking on the beach. They have storm and rip tide warnings out anyway.

I slept in and then spent time just reading and checking online stuff. Finally got dressed at about 2 pm, which was less than an hour ago, so this is a really lazy day. Got electric heater going and rear furnace running to keep this place warm. I was glad I had my down comforter last night. Not even taking my trash out today or doing the load of laundry I have sitting near the door! It is expected to be cold and drizzly/windy all week, but going out to get a few groceries tomorrow.

The nearest Camping World is an hour's drive from here, and I have not seen any RV dealers in this area. In any case, this being the busy time, they are likely to be backed up for a couple of months anyway. Hoping to hear from second mobile technician tomorrow. I washed my hair in the kitchen sink yesterday and took a sponge bath last night. Have enough water for shower tonight so am doing OK.

The dogs and I have left Florida as of today and are parked in southern GA off I-95 on our way to a 3 night reservation in Huntington State Park in South Carolina. We will stop over night somewhere between here and there tomorrow night but don't have that nailed down yet. Planning to park in my daughter's flat driveway hooked up to the electric my son-in-law put in for me on Friday for a short weekend visit and then it will be on back to SW Ohio and home. There are some dog shows coming up that Jane and I need to get our entries in for not to mention doctor appointments to schedule and attend.

Sue at least your squirrels show some appreciate of the dogs and run away. Walking around the campground we stayed in this last week while we were driving down to visit the Hardy Lake folks, the squirrels just sat there, giggled and waved their tails at the dogs. They are so used to dogs and leashes they forget that they might be prey. One hung out on the side of the tree outside my RV not 6 feet from Lark and Jane and just smiled at them. The dogs were the first to move and only because I directed them away from the tree and into the camper......

I think I am losing my mind!

The day started out good. I found the right road to Laguna Beach this time (I always write down the directions on paper from Google maps but didn't do that yesterday. (my GPS is worthless!). I went to the beach with the old tower. Spent about an hour there walking around (was wearing my sandals. Not the best thing to wear on the sand and rough rocky tide pools!!). Got lots of photos and checked out the tide pools. Sat for a bit watching and listening to the waves crashing on the rocks. I had decided to head home across the mountains to Lake Elsinore where I used to live. From there I stopped at Epic Wings for lunch again. Then headed over the next mountain range to get home. Took almost 4 hours. I stopped at a DQ to use the bathroom before I started up the mountain, but decided not to buy any ice cream since I had just eaten lunch. When I got home at 4:15, I realized I didn't have my fanny pack with me! :o :o I figured I must have left it in the bathroom at the DQ! :o Since my phone was also in it, I ran to a neighbors house and called the DQ with their phone. Yep, they found it in the bathroom. They close at 6 so I had just 1 1/2 hours to go back there and it would take that long to get there! I jumped in the car and high-tailed it across the valley and up the mountain. That is the fastest I have ever driven those mountain roads! I couldn't believe I was driving all that way back there but I had no choice. Luckily, I made it over the mountains and got there just before they were closing! Whew!! By then, the sun had set so I drove back on windy, curvy, steep grades in the dark. At least I wasn't in such a hurry. Got home at 7pm. I can't believe how absent-minded I am lately! Now I have 2 days to get my sh#@ together and head to Arizona for a week! Yikes!

I think I got rear-ended on the way back (the second time) at a stoplight a couple miles from home. I felt a slight bump with the car, and the car behind me was really close to me. I was so exhausted and just didn't care by then so I just ignored it. I am hoping it was just a small earthquake instead!

Just happy to be home (again)!

Good grief, Barbie! You were so lucky to get your backpack with your phone in it back. Hopefully your next trip will be less eventful.
