Monday Again

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday Again

Postby Colliemom » Mon Jan 24, 2022 9:46 am

Good morning from the chilly 45th. It’s 12° Out there with a real feel of 5°. Some snow in the forecast, but less than an inch. The snow we were having when I wrote on Saturdsy turned into quite a snowstorm. It came down so hard sometimes, I could barely see my neighbors house across the road. In the end, we had about 4 inches out of it. No biggie, just intense thanks to the wind. But the cold hangs on.

My bathroom project, except for new flooring and moulding is done. Now that I finished my end of it, I found a color that might have looked good in there  Always the way it goes. But it did use up some of the full gallon of the original paint I had left from the first painting. I found some new flooring I like, but debating on whether or not to do it now or in spring when I can leave a window open, because it has to be glued down and that can get a bit strong. However, it’s sheet vinyl and they don’t have a whole lot left. Probably could order more, but who knows how long that would take with all the supply issues these days, plus it’s at least mid to late May before I can really leave a window open all day. So thinking on it.

So now it’s off to doing some minor things upstairs here. Going through each room to see if any paint touchups are needed. Especially along areas where walls meet ceilings. And we all know how a small crack can appear when a house settles. Just little maintenance stuff. The basement is next on the list. That’s next months project. It needs some face lift down there. Been years since some of the rooms were painted. Actually only 2 as the one with my workshop is done and what can be a bedroom is okay. The floor needs a fresh paint also. But like Velda, I’m going through stuff first and clearing things out for donation. Only keeping what I use or is essential to the house.

BJ, Pippa reminds me of Piper with her food. She is a grazer. Eats when she feels like it, so I just leave food out. My one Collie I had, would eat every 24 hours. She would eat one day and then maybe the next day she wouldn’t bother with it. You never know what eating habits are going to be with fur kids.

So I guess I had better get myself moving here and see if I can accomplish some things today. Hope you all have a good day out there and stay safe.

Good morning! Sun is sorta out this morning and it’s all of 21. I just came in from clearing the back driveway and needed to thaw out! I was out about 9 last night clearing off the car and went ahead and shoveled the front driveway. Neighbor shoveled the sidewalk earlier so there’s just a bit of snow on it. So since I need to get ready for doctor’s appointment I deal with that when I get home later. We’re forecasted to get another 1”-3” this afternoon and evening so it’ll be a repeat of what we already got! Small batches is easier so no complaints there! Only today when I come home the car goes into the garage! We definitely got more then forecasted so didn’t bother yesterday but not going to make that mistake again! I have enough problem piling upthe snow. We need some warmer days to melt some of this! My driveway in front has the house on one side and the fence on the other so not a lot of space to pile it. Rascal seems to be enjoying getting outside in the snow. He comes in and his nose is covered in snow not to mention his feet! Still waiting to hear the results of son’s Covid test. He had it done Friday afternoon so he should hear something today. They said 24-48 hours for results. Sue, your bathroom is looking good. I need to get some painting done too but just keep putting it off. Your energy amazes me! I can always find something else to do! So that’s about it for me. Hope everyone has a great day and stay warm and safe!

Sue, could you buy the sheet vinyl now, and store until weather warms up?
I gotta get going, lots to do today.

Good Morning All, It is cloudy so far today but it is supposed to be near 50 ! Sue I envy your talents, our house needs so many things but we just keep putting it off. The bathrooms particularly need painting and I would love to have a walk in tub/shower. DH showers in the basement and I really worry about him on all the steps. Pippa finishes her breakfast in time for her lunch. The other two inhale their food as soon as it is put down. I ordered her a little tunnel from Amazon as the breeder said she like them.

I'm reading Cross Creek by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. It took me awhile to get into it but now I really like it, although I do find some of the language and expressions hard to follow. I seldom watch TV in the day time but I have been watching reruns of Shark Tank. Some of the things people come up make me wonder how they would sell but apparently many of them sell very well. Just for the sake of trivia here is a link. I've only seen and bought the Bombas socks and I didn't like the way they fit. https://www.cnbc.com/2019/10/14/best-se ... ducts.html

Off to finish laundry. Pippa has been placed in her playpen for being naughty. She is still going through the phase of shredding the potty papers and has now added chewing/banging on the door to the kitchen. She is amazingly good on the grooming table. I got 3 toenails clipped this morning! I need to do them first as she was at the end of her patience and mine when I started on them.

Sue, I wish I had your ambition to do house repairs. Since the roof is replaced now I have to find someone to replace the ceiling in the kitchen, dining room and one of the bathrooms. I found out yesterday that it wasn't the faucet that froze but the pipe to the faucet rusted out at the ground and has a small hole. I called a plumber this morning and they can't come until Wednesday. We turned the water off at the well but will have to watch the water troughs for the cows. They can also drink at the pond. I need to go see that water isn't back feeding from the neighbors well. We have the pipes to our well and the neighbor's well connected so if one of us have a well that goes out we can use the other.

I was going to make an appointment to get my car serviced but think I'll wait until I get the plumbing work done in case they can come before Wednesday. It seems like I'm always waiting on someone. We have rain coming that will be here before long. I have a Meetup meal tonight. Hope I don't forget and that the rain has passed.

I saw a recipe for a small loaf of french bread on Facebook and tried it yesterday. I should have put the ingredients in the bread machine to make the dough. The bread is a little dense but tastes good. I will never live long enough to make all the recipes I have saved. Since I had the oven on I cooked some butter cookies. Those things are too good.

Good morning!

Cloudy and 30 degrees. Snow still hasn't been properly cleared here. I'd report to company, but I do need them to offer to renew my lease.

My not so itty bitty news is that my grandson is back on U.S. soil! His job doesn't put him in harm's way, but just good to have him back.

Celebrated son-in-law's birthday with football yesterday. With our Seahawks not in the playoffs, we were on the same page about other teams. And then came Buffalo and Kansas City. We weren't rooting for the same team and that was such a game! Think we drove my daughter and the dogs a little crazy with our yelling. Lots of laughs and a fun day plus I came home with great leftovers. :D

Sheila, I can't imagine making that many meals nor having to go shopping in this weather as much! Sorry for those of you having to remove snow.

Have a great week!

Sue, I'm thinking the same a Velda, that you could buy now but wait to install.

Anita, my bff is a die hard KC fan. I didn't watch but hear that was a great game. And I know she's thrilled with the final score.

Another rainy day today. Much of the time it's light or misting but the ground I want to walk is so muddy. And Ty dislikes standing water. He's actually avoiding the mud now, too which I'm grateful for. I'm hoping the sun tomorrow makes it possible to get in a good walk. Otherwise I'll have to walk through the park to exit at a different place onto the paved road and head into a neighborhood across the main road. Ty and I both need a good walk! And with a sunny, warmer day I'll pull the good vacuum out of outside storage cuz this place needs me to do that.

Good afternoon gals!

Yesterday was a much quieter day at work! :D Didn't do much after getting home, and went to bed early with my heating pad.

Got up this morning for the massage appointment. I was hoping this place wasn't all Asian workers. Well, it was. The guy I got, named "Jim", couldn't speak or understand a word of English. I hate not being able to communicate with massage therapists! I was asked at the front desk if I wanted light, medium or strong massage and I said "medium". Well, this was NOT a medium massage! :o It was the most painful massage I have ever had! I kept saying "ouch" or "too hard", or just moving away from his hands from the pain! I know I am full of knots, etc, and I know there is to be expected some pain here and there which I can tolerate, but this was excruciating at times! I actually felt a bit nauseous by the time I left. :( Glad I didn't ask for a strong massage! I would have ended up with broken bones! Am hoping at least, that it will still help me feel better in a couple days. I doubt I will go back even for a "light" massage!
I need to find an English speaking woman to get a massage from. Women have an easier touch and listen better!

So I have been laying on my bed with the heating pad on my back again. Need to get busy and get something done around here today. Tomorrow, I have putters golf in the morning and then we have an outdoor lunch after that and some putting contests until early afternoon.

I have been giving Lola a little canned chicken cat food as a treat the past week or so and she has tolerated that well. Yesterday I gave her some beef flavored one and she has had diarrhea since then. So no more beef for her. Maybe too rich for her system.

I happened to be reading online about Maine Coon cats and found out that the MC I had years ago, actually had hip dysplasia! They are one of the few breeds of cats that can have that. I always wondered what was wrong with him. When I adopted him, his back legs were close together, thin, and his feet pointed outward. He couldn't ever jump due to weakness back there. I had to lift him on the bed or couch and eventually got steps for him to get on and off the bed. After a few years, he started getting constipated all the time. I would have to bring him to the vet to get enemas. That was costing me a fortune so I started doing them myself on him. Not fun for either of us, especially when I had to give him a bath to clean up the mess on his backside afterward. I also read that constipation also goes along with hip dysplasia, so that all makes sense now. My vet never even diagnosed him with HD. I wish I had known and could have had surgery for him to help him.He died when he was 6 years old. He was absolutely the BEST cat I have ever had! If/when I get another cat, it will be a Maine Coon.

Sunny out and wind has died down. Low 70's and beautiful!

Have a good afternoon!

I am back at Colt Creek near Tampa for a couple of days. I originally had reservations way down south in FLorida, but switched to up here to be nearer to Disney World. Yes, I am going there for a couple of days to stay at Fort Wilderness--very expensive, but I am doing it anyway. It may be my last time in Florida for a while, or at least until my issues with mosquitos gets solved. It has been a rough year for me in a lot of ways, so I am treating myself.

Also, I got my booster last week. I had two shots in New Mexico last March and then an extra shot in August because of my immune system and CLL, so this is my actual booster. I was getting worried because it had been five months since my last short, and my immunity might have been waning. Anyway, I feel better about it.

Florida is really cold this week--jacket weather, actually. In fact, I am going to switch out the light quilt I have been using to my medium-weight down comforter. That will keep me a lot warmer at night. Last night, it dropped down to 43, so I had my electric heater and rear furnace going. I will need to get my winter coat out to go out at Disney at night!! Bad timing, but late January is one of the cheaper months and least busy months to visit there.

Judy, I stayed at Fort Wilderness on one trip to Disney World. We loved it. When you learn the transportation system you can go to all the Disney properties from the campground. That was in about 1990 so I would hope it is even better now.

It has rained all day. My neighbor got involved in my water leak problem. Come to find out, the valve to cut off their well water from coming to my property broke from the freeze last year and they never fixed it. He thought he had it cut off but it isn't. Hopefully it will quit raining tomorrow and they will fix that problem so I can get my leak turned off. If it isn't one thing it's 10 others.

I got soaked and looked like a drowned rat so didn't feel like going to Lafayette for the Meetup.

Barbie, your massage sounds more like torture. The two cats my son adopted and I ended up with are suppose to be Maine Coon cats. They probably are because when they were fat they weighed about 15 pounds. At one time Pinky was up to about 18 pounds.

Sue I was going to ask if you could buy it store it use it later... great minds run in the same directions.....
Barbie was this a regular massage parlor or a massage therapist?
when I first woke up I had all sorts of plans of what I needed to accomplish and did absolutely nothing  nada!!! although I did this word search puzzle it's one where you find where the words go....really hard to figure out as the list had numbers and those numbers where placed in different places in the grid... and the letter say number 8 had words that started with S but all the words began with the same S going different ways and the other numbers and letters would intersect it took me awhile but was able to finish it except for one square I just filled in the letter
I hope that it this puzzle doesn't show up very soon...
we are suppose to get snow tonight don't know if it will happen though it's only a 15 % change not much of one at all
tomorrow I probably should do some of the things I didn't do today... although I did go through the shelve that I keep meat on in the freezer part inventoried it I need to "shop" the freezer first before the store... but have enough left over's for a couple of days.. so need to take care of those first
you all have a great day

Sheila, I need to "shop" my cupboards first before going to the store too. My cupboards are bursting at the seams and I still can't find anything to eat around here  . I thought massage "parlors" were for men! These are massage therapists I believe.

I didn't get any cleaning done, but I did frost my hair tonight and painted my gourd.

I got my tax stuff together but am still waiting for my W-2 from the pot shop, and then I can bring everything to my tax guy that I used last year. He was cheap and quick.

Supposed to have Santa Ana winds starting at noon tomorrow for a couple days. Oh joy!
