Saturday January 22

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday January 22

Morning All, Brrr, cold 20° but the sun is shining. Grateful for the hot cup of coffee. Porch friend is hanging in Georgia waiting on news of traffic conditions on 95 north. No special plans for the day. I have been watching a series of lectures on “mindfulness” on Amazon Prime video. Yesterday was on positions necessary. Don’t think I could concentrate on my mind when my body is in pain. Be safe.

Karen, are you doing ok?

It got down to 27 last night and it's up to 40. At least the sun is out today. The faucet that froze last year froze again. That's all I have found so far. It's on the well not the community water. I'll see what Eddie want to do about it. The water troughs are on the well so if I turn the well off the troughs won't fill up. It's suppose to freeze again tonight so no point in fixing it today. It doesn't take much to make me want to run away from home.

40° here this morning, but expected to get down to 27° overnight tonight. Winter will be here for about a week.

Doing inside chores here, then reading or a movie will keep us company.

My daughter in Augusta, GA had snow and freezing rain last night. Roads are predicted to be icy today.

Good morning. Chilly and foggy again this morning. Just had a little breakfast and working up the ambition now to take a shower. Shirl I am feeling better but this whatever it is has kicked my butt. Still not a lot of energy but been having a bit more of an appetite. Still really just have my cough (keeps me awake at night) fatigue and not much of an appetite.

So my neighbor Jerry has been laid up since Tuesday with a sore hip and difficulty walking. He can barely walk. So I went to the store for him yesterday (I needed more cough medicine too) took him his groceries (told him to put his mask on, me too). I also talked him into getting a walker that should come today to my house. He has an appt on Monday morning with an ortho doc. I will be taking him and dropping him off, he can call me when he is done. I told him he needs to tell his daughter and he said he would after Mondays appt. The office is just down the street so no big deal really. He is the one that walks a couple miles each morning (he is going to be 88 in April) and now can barely walk to the bathroom so he is pouting for sure.

Afternoon All. 21° And snowing here today. Looks like a couple inches out there so far. Nice and cozy inside, so don’t care what it’s doing outside. Doubt there will be any dog walk today as they get ice balls in their paws walking in the snow on the road till it gets plowed. And we don’t get plowed on weekends unless we get a big amount of snow. Main and secondary roads get priority.

Taking a lunch break here and then back to working in the bathroom that was remodeled. Been hit and miss on it this week. But am now doing the final cleaning. Except for putting up a new mirror, which I will get this week and new flooring, it’s done. Scoped out flooring yesterday, found one I like, got quote on it. Debating as to whether or not to proceed now or wait till I can open wi Dow’s as it needs to be glued down and that’s fairly strong smelling. On the other hand, they don’t have a whole lot on the roll and it’s May at earliest before window opening time. Will think about it over rest of weekend. Debated between sheet vi ya or ceramic tile, but really like the sheet vinyl.

Shirl, I’m with you on technology. It drives me nuts some days too. Probably because I don’t have a desire to have all the latest and greatest out there. I have my computer, which sits more than gets used because I use my IPad for just about everything. I have my IPhone which is more of a carry around if that. I don’t many calls and because of my heading, I do better with my closed caption land line or texting. I can sometimes go for days with no calls of any kind. I have one 55 inch TV and that’s the extent of my electronics. I like to keep my life simple. I don’t like all the tech built into new vehicles either. Not that some isn’t good, like GPS, backup cameras etc.

Time to get back to work and finish cleaning and call it done. Then I can stsrt anew on something else. Stay safe all.

It's very bright sun outside my windows and leaves on citrus moving a bit with breeze. Soon as I shower and dress, I'll be packing up last of stuff from hutch, in the new cases I bought. For me, that represents a line of completion, nothing else to do to allow furniture to move so floor can be replaced. On the other side of the imaginary line, I begin my part of the renovation, by emptying cupboards, washing shelves, lining with fresh plastic liner, and putting back only what I want and plan to use. Then I'll scrub the doors and stiles using the electric drill with brush method I learned about on you tube. Last will be decluttering countertops. Before I can really get done, Sean the handyman will paint the kitchen, before putting hutch back against that wall. That's my plan for today and next few weeks-cupboards. Goal is getting sunroom empty so he can begin in there.
Woke today to a "gift" of raw chicken bone next to my pillow. Stormy is such a generous kitty to think of me while sue eats her lunch during her night patrol job! Mandy stirred around 8:30 and requested breakfast service. Stormy has gone to bed, off duty from night patrol. My son is asleep as is our Suzie bird.
Anne, I'm sorry if you got hurt feelings here. It certainly wasn't anyone's intention to do so. We seem to be a group with older tech that doesn't match what you describe. I'm one not to replace big stuff like TVs until I have to. Mel had a special expensive headset because his hearing was affected, plus often he watched stuff in our room that I wasn't interested in, and he figured out a way with a $300 headset to rig it so he could hear even though our tv didn't have all the usual outlets. That headset sits gathering dust.
Karen, hope you are improving. Judy, glad your mouth is better. Those in freeze zones, do be careful and keep warm. Barbara and Sandi, I look forward to seeing your art creation. I stepped into my craft space last night and quickly watercolored a tiny card to write my info in to hand to a new widow at a reception for her returned missionary grandson. She seemed to appreciate it. Sure was good to get ink on fingers again! Just haven't had time.
Have a good day everyone.

We had high wind warnings all last night and this morning. Sounded like a hurricane outside! :o Calmed down some later in the day but still pretty breezy out there.

It was really busy again today. There were 3 of us working today and we had one perm and several style/blow outs that came in, so I was the only one doing haircuts for most of the day. I was supposed to be off by 2pm but stayed until almost 3.

My lower back is really sore and my shoulders a bit too. One more day to work and then have Monday and Tuesday off.

That's about it here. Hope you all have a good evening!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

It wasn't supposed to rain much today. But the ground is bad from the previous rains and it drizzled most of today. No good walks. I was game, but Ty wasn't. Lol He did do his business but otherwise has been more of a slug than me. I didn't think that was possible. Just another night watching old TV shows. Tonight episodes of the original CSI.

it's been a lazy day but then they all are... I guess

made birthday cake and will have it with family tomorrow cake and dip yum!!!
Martha I read the other day a suggestion to use those noodles the kids use in pools to protect pipes that might freeze... they come in handy for lots of things Larry used to put them on the outside of the bedroom slidout as he was always running into it... I don't seem to have that problem
have started the next crocheted afghan one of the colors niece wanted was a color that her sister used and I had a skein and part on hand so even though I've not gotten the yarn yet (dd was suppose to pick it up today) she will bring it to me tomorrow... so the border is already done will just hope that I want that color to be the border
did a take out called the Indian Restaurant and ordered Tikki Masala Naan bread and something called Momo's
not had them before filled with bison... really good it's like a Asian dumpling only I chose pan fried instead of steamed... it all was so good
Do any of you remember Laura the teacher in CA? she is in Q this week haven't seen her in several years...

Yes Laura and her partner Alice posted on FB that they had come through some blustery weather to make it to Q. Sounded as if they may have been planning on just a long weekend. Laura has retired from teaching and sometimes works as a sub but I think Alice is still working. Hope the weather smooth out enough for them to enjoy their visit.
