Good Morning everyone. The days are slowly marching toward the end of the year. Another chapter in our lives is about over.

Sounds lke most of you had a good Christmas. Few plans went astray due to Covid and weather. Hopefully you will be able to get together with family yet. I had a nice Christmas. Went to Mass in the morning and then joined friends for a nice but simple Christmas dinner. We talked and laughed and enjoyed the moment, watched the friend who’s house we were at, granddaughter, show off her Christmas gifts. Yesterday, after I watched Mass on TV, went to town on a couple errands. Day after Christmas crowds were conspicuously absent. Even Walmart wasn’t overly busy. There weren’t a lot of after Christmas sales, because a lot of the stores marked stuff down and were getting down to bare shelves before Christmas. The long line of returns was nowhere to be seen.

So today is going to be a stay in and work on that name sign and make a little Happy New Year one to attach to one of the ones I have out by the sub entrance. We have a mix of snow and freezing drizzle for today, so not good day to be out running around. Yesterday was a beautiful Sunny day and since the dogs didn’t get a walk the day before, I took them across the highway to the snowmobile trail and they had a nice time running around, checking all the new sniffs in the woods. Gave them a chance to be off leash for awhile.

So, guess I will quit jabbering g about nothing, take a shower and get busy around here. Have a nice day all.

Morning Sue and All, cloudy, snow flurries and 37°. Good day for a pot of soup. Clear broth would be a better choice since I have packed on extra pounds. No plans except to hibernate for a few days. Got a Kindle Paperwhite for Christmas so a new toy to play with. Reading a book beside the Christmas tree on a gloomy day sounds like a good idea. Be safe

Good morning Sue & Shirl and all that check in!

Sue, you're always busy doing some kind of project. It's nice to be so talented!

Shirl, enjoy your new Kindle sitting by the tree. Have a glass of wine for dessert!

We just got back from picking up Steve's truck from church. He locked the keys inside the truck along with my wallet and phone. Needless to say, we needed a ride home and got it but waited until this morning to retrieve the truck because the Christmas traffic yesterday was horrendous. It was just as bad today because of an accident on I-75. Shirl, the backups reminded me of the traffic on the shore of MD and made me feel right at home.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Good morning! At least for a couple more minutes! Woke up to a fair amount of snow this morning! Our first snow of the winter. I was just outside cleaning my car and the promised rain/sheet started. The road is just wet right now but I imagine once dark comes it’ll be ice and not great driving. No plans to go anywhere today anyway! Rascal went out this morning and came in all covered with snow! He’s been in and out several times today, think he’s enjoying it! No big plans for dinner tonight since I have leftovers from my dinner I made last night. Plus son was up in this area last night and dropped off a meals on wheels for me! He was only here for about 5 minutes when he got a call and had to take off. He did come back a bit later and we visited for a few minutes. So no plans for today other then normal everyday chores. Judy, hope you’re able to take your flight tomorrow. From what I’m hearing there’s many flights being cancelled. Here I am enjoying our first snow of the winter and out west have really gotten much, much worst. Just heard the local weather and they say tomorrow is supposed to be 50! This is really crazy! Don’t think I’ll need to do much shoveling much less run the snowblower. I just glanced outside and looks like my neighbor cleared the sidewalk in front of our houses. So nice! He told me once he enjoys it! So that’s about it for me today. Maybe I’ll go back out and shovel some in the driveway. Or not! Have a good day and stay safe.

Used my piggy bank money for a wash/wax of the rig this morning. It ran higher than expected because they fixed some problems caused by the last people who waxed it. It's always something. :?

Still having 80's for highs, most likely through the start of 2022. Somewhat windy, thus a really nice breeze right now which is fine not being on the road.

I had my mail sent here and the USPS shows it got to the parks PO box this morning. I checked my box here a bit ago and either mail wasn't picked up yet today or it made it after they picked up. I'm hoping my car and RV tags will be in that mail.

I have no idea what I'll be doing for dinner today but my fridge and freezer are full, so will figure something out.

We had rain much of yesterday and last night, and more today! Much welcome, as you might imagine for here in northern California .
I'm going to head to Curves soon. No big plans for week. Will make a store run for few things for New Years. Expecting handyman later today to begin floor work again. Will be glad when fridge is back where it belongs, no longer in middle of room blocking access to several cupboards.
Got photo from MN son this morning as he was getting ready to go off duty, showing his car buried in snow, which he was going to have to shovel out before attempting to drive home through what , in places,is 3 ft drifts! And people had trouble after Mel died, understanding why I laughed when they inquired- so you moving to MN to be near Nick?????
This Christmas seemed sort of anti-climatic, but we had a ok day. I don't consider a new year a new chapter, as my chapters cover more than a year. No big changes, no new chapter. Just have to see what next year brings. Hopefully some camping.
Hope all have a good, safe, quiet day.
Velda

We won't see 30 degrees here for awhile and nights are single digit. Not much snow in the forecast.

I didn't do much today. Went to the post office. I thought there was something wrong with the way my car was driving until I noticed how much the wind was blowing. It got up to 81 today.

I saw that the Wizard of OZ was on yesterday. I usually watch the Wizard of OZ and Gone With the Wind every year but wasn't in the mood for it yesterday.

Judy, hope you made your flight and your son is OK. My sister had pancreatitis and it didn't look like much fun.

I made my reservation for the campout in January. I am thinking about going to the lake tomorrow or Wednesday. If I go tomorrow that will make me miss the funeral for Harold's friend that passed away. I feel like I should go but with everything that is going on don't really want to go to a funeral.

I posted the Scalloped Potatoes for One recipe.

Surprisingly, both shoulders felt fine this morning, and actually had no pain all day at work either! :? Am very happy about that!!! :D

Was fairly quiet at work until later this afternoon. WM wasn't very busy today. Was a madhouse yesterday and I was amazed that they had like 8 real checkout lines open! They never had that many open before Christmas!

Anita, I sure don't miss those kind of temps! Brrr!

Got a photo from my friend in Oregon, of the snow she has there. About 6+ inches with more on the way. We were supposed to get really high winds today with the storm system coming thru but that never happened, luckily. We had a blowing dust warning as well, so I am glad I didn't have to deal with that at all. There was a lot of rain and snow to the north and west of here but no rain here either. Another system is coming in for Wednesday and Thursday with a chance of rain here. The mountains are really getting a lot of snow lately, which is wonderful!

I have the next two days off and need to get caught up with housework, etc. Got way behind on all that with the Christmas shopping, etc.

Last night my feet were both cramping up really bad. :o I figured it was from being dehydrated so I drank a lot more water today and so far, am not having any cramping issues tonight. I really need to keep up with drinking enough water.

My mom was once diagnosed (right before Christmas) with pancreatic cancer. She had terrible stomach pains and was taken to the hospital. Two cancer specialists told us she had a grapefruit sized tumor on her pancreas. My mom was devastated, as were the rest of us, with that news, but I was a little skeptical. I asked one of the "specialists" if there were any other tests she could get to be sure. He said "well, if you really need to know, there is another test but it has to be done at a different hospital." I said "Yes, I really need to know!!!" (under my breath, I added "you freaking idiot!!" ). So I got the other test scheduled for just after the new year. When the test (with a tiny camera) was done, that doctor came in and said she didn't know what the other doctors were talking about. She said my mom's pancreas was swollen but there was no tumor and with some antibiotics, she would be fine. It was just a case of pancreatitis! I was SO angry! I changed my mom's doctor and clinic so we could have her going to a different hospital after that.

Nothing on TV tonight so am heading off to bed early...

can't say I accomplished much of anything today... put a batch in the water and it's in the dryer will retrieve it tomorrow... finished up a word search magazine... have another ready it's more of several puzzles in it ... so will be fun... except it's a larger print there fore a larger magazine harder to handle...
that is too bad Judy about your son being in the hospital hopefully his wife will be able to visit often when mom was in the hospital I was the only one that could go see her.... so perhaps it will be the same with that hospital ...
been thinking it felt colder so just looked at the phone it's a cool 13 degree's ugh... I think Q's low was 49 the other night...yet it will even get down to freezing but not often and that is still well above 13 degree's... later in week it's suppose to go down to 5 I think but think I moaned about it yesterday
mom is hurting tonight... gave her a couple an hour ago or so hopefully she will feel the effect soon... my sister in law gave me a blanket for Christmas night need to take it to my room and put it on the bed... I like the room cooler and I hate heavy blankets on bed but enjoy being warm... may need to go find a cup of hot chocolate because it is cold...
my daughter and her family made it home today they had to take a different route roads must have been bad because a 4 hour trip turned into about 7 just guessing and she said that actually Utah roads were worse than Idaho roads were... the weather wasn't sounding good at all... a lot of area was recommended stay at home day...
you all have a great day

I had horrible stomach pain right after my knee replacement. I kept complaining and without running any tests, they sent me home with a diagnosis of constipation. Home nurse came and told
Me to call regular doctor. Her nurse told me to go back to U of Michigan hospital and tell them I wanted to see a gastroenterologist. They admitted me right away with acute pancreatitis. Orthopedic guy could have killed
Me in one of best teaching hospitals in US!! Was put on wonderful intravenous morphine and kept two weeks with multiple IVs and no food.

In the first month I was home I lost 20 pounds because I could not eat. I used to stare at half a sandwich and had to force myself to eat it. And I still had this freshly replaced knee. Miserable time. I later found out who the smart nurse I had talked to was and told her she was right on and how I had spent all that time at the hospital. She and home nurse really saved my life.

Lesson learned is that you can have TWO things wrong with you at once—DUH. Also, it pays to get a second opinion, as Barbie did.

By the way, my son who took me into emergency room really got angry with them. They were worried. Gave me
Private room with sign not to disturb me at night. Also, even though this was teaching hospital with lots of young doctors running around, I never saw anyone younger than 50 the whole time. A team of grey-haired old guys came in once a day and the young “learners” left me alone!!
