It’s Friday

Good morning all. Another end of a week and dealing with wind and warmer temps. At least warm for us and for the time of the year. But not to get used to since the temps drop agin tomorrow! I had a busy couple of days, worked outside the other day and then yesterday I had an appointment in State College in the afternoon. Stopped for early dinner or late lunch before I came home. Took me about 50 minutes to do a normally 20-25 minute drive because there was another accident just before getting into town. A truck lost its load of what looked like construction generators. Took out the fence in font of the house along there which has happened several times in the years I’ve lived here. There have been so many accidents on that one stretch of road. Then I had to circle around town to get to my house since they were diverting traffic to other routes away from the accident. Such fun! At least there weren’t any injuries. No plans to go anywhere today. I have a couple of projects I need to do and they will probably take up a good part of my day…once I figure out how to do them!
Beth, those ants sound nasty. I’ve been bit by fire ants but don’t think I’ve ever seen red ants. And sounds like I don’t want to. Was good to read all the rabbit roll call posts the other day. So that’s about it for me today. Hope everyone enjoys the day and stay safe. I’ve noticed so many not masking despite the numbers climbing in this area but I still do and am very careful where and when I go places if I go at all!

Morning Sharon and All, Sharon our weather is similar except Maryland’s Easter Shore is a little warmer. I’m in my “fall back” position and hoping I can jump forward sometime. Dealing with irritating little things so I just withdraw until I feel ready to try again. Wrapping fairy lights is tedious, time consuming and if they don’t light you say bad words. Technology is more difficult for me to deal with recently so I am just pondering. Lol Will post more when I jump forward. Be safe

Good Morning, It was 73 here yesterday and supposed to be same today! I think it set a record high for the day. It of course won't last but I'm enjoying it for the moment. I'm with you Shirl, technology is getting more difficult lately. I think I need a teenager, or even younger to 'splain' things and to tell me about new options. I had never heard of Venmo or Zelle until the puppy breeder listed them as payment options. Paypal which I do use was not an option but a check at pick up was, thank goodness.
Sharon I'm glad you found a way around the traffic but sorry it took so long. I don't wait well!
We are working on getting everything ready for our new arrival. I have so many pink items my neighbor asked if I was going to check our Barbie Dream Houses!

Another cool (50's-might reach 60) day here. I have several calls to make and Curves to go. Can't believe it's Friday again so soon! Handyman and I are in a discussion re underlayment, after I discovered he wants to use a type product usually used for roofing as underlayment, and I discovered that floor products are notorious for off gassing chemicals that can make you sick! I have trusted him for over 3 years and he has not led me wrong, but this one is a no go for me until I see the safety data on it, proving its rated as low VOC! He's just gonna have to deal with my decision. Grrr!
Well I need to get busy. Have a good weekend everyone.
Velda

Was busy running errands this morning and also stopped at Walmart. Wanted to get there before the crowds. I dont do crowds. Wasn't bad but they were coming in hot and heavy when I left. Had to go to Walmart as I needed some general things. Replacing the showerhead in my shower so needed some Teflon tape and a few other repair kinda items.

Will hang my other string of lights later on today if it ever warms up out there. We are in fogville again as usual.

I am hoping Dec 7th gets here soon and all the spam calls or at least most of them STOP. I got 13 the other day. Fortunately I put my phone on Do Not Disturb except for my contacts so I dont have to listen for the ring and run for the phone. I do feel the vibration and see the number on my watch. I can live with that. Always one of the same 3 area codes and never leave a message. I have blocked every number but they must have hundreds so I have given that up as too much trouble now. I was so ticked off a couple weeks ago I called back the number it was busy, so tried all the other ones all busy Yup busy dialing the next victims.

Lunch time here and then will change out my shower head.

Hi ladies!

Sharon, I know only too well about being re-routed around accidents on the shore where Shirl is. Don't miss them. Shirl, I am technology stupid and am sending lots of good vibes your way. BJ, your puppy is so adorable! I can't wait for more pictures and posts. Velda, I hope you get the kitchen floor figured out.

We woke up to the low 50's this morning and now we're in the mid 70's. Next week we'll be back in the 80's.

Steve had a friend stop by to help figure out how to put hinges on the dock box that we keep in the pergola for his things for the Big Green Egg. Brenda & I went to Costco and went for a few things but came home with lots of things. Happy Hour is this evening as well as a potlock. We're taking a casserole of creamed chicken.

Yesterday, I played hookie and stayed home. I was feeling so stressed out about the stuff going on at work! I stayed in my room all day. Did some perusing on my laptop for awhile and then fell asleep about 1pm. Didn't wake up until 8pm! I must have been really tired from the stress! Didn't feel like eating yesterday either.

I ordered some noise-cancelling head phones from Amazon so maybe that will help some. I picked a table facing a wall today so I don't have to see all the chaos going on in the room! My current head phones are not noise cancelling so I hear the chaos and the music, which doesn't help much. I may have to start on my anti-anxiety pills again. With my ADD, I don't tolerate noise and distractions well. It can give me anxiety attacks. That is why I liked how low-key and easy-going it was there when I first started.

There were 11 of us working today! Two more new ones starting on Monday! It was packed in that room as it was. I just don't know what they are thinking! I ended up training the newbies how to roll papers and make filters. I went to my assistant manager last week to tell her that a lot of the filters are being done wrong and causing the papers to tear because of corners on them (not supposed to have corners! Must be round!). Turns out she is the one who was doing that and teaching others how to do it that way. So I had to give a little training session to the others on how to do it right. So hopefully, everyone is now on the same page with that. I should have been a teacher!

Yesterday I got alerted by my bank about a possible fraud charge on my debit card. I told them I did not charge that, so they cancelled my debit card and are sending me a new one next week. That is all good, but some of my bills with auto-pay are coming up in the next few days so I am hoping they don't bounce back due to that. Depends on if I gave them the debit card info or the checking account info. Won't be able to pay anything that gets rejected until I get the new card. But am glad the bank was so quick to jump on that.

Am relaxing tonight and then hopefully will get motivated to work on the Christmas tree and decorations tomorrow. On Sunday, Linda and I are going to Joshua Tree National Park for the day.

It has been very warm here for this time of year. About 15* above normal, in the mid to upper 80's. Supposed to cool down next week.

I have to check with the company I ordered the cat trap from. I got the invoice for it but when I go into their site and look up the order to track it, it says I have no orders on file. Will see if I can call them tomorrow if they are open on Saturdays. At least I have the invoice to prove I ordered and paid for it in case they say they never got the order. Always something!

I better find something to eat. Our manager bought us all lunch at In & Out Burger today. Not my favorite place but can't complain about a free lunch!

Have a good night!

Opinions wanted. I can get 3 months of YouTube premium for free About the only time I watch anything now on YouTube is when Shirl shares a link. Should I check it out? Shirl, I already know what you'll say, but please chime in and tell me why.

Nothing much happening here. Good thing I don't take naps because I never want to go to bed no matter how tired at night, so would probably be up all night!

Barbie, it sounds crazy there. And a little scary that the manager doesn't know the proper way to do things and is teaching things wrong. I think you're due for a raise!

Beth, I don't pay for any kind of television programming, and never have since I cancelled my DirecTv about 10 years ago and went with Roku. I hate to admit this, but I probably watch 3 - 4 hours of tv per night. Most, if not all, of what I watch is on YouTube (the free version).

If there is something specific you want to watch, and it is on the pay side, that might be a reason to go with YouTube premium.

For myself, I never run out of free stuff to watch, so see no reason to pay for programming.

But that's just me. You asked! ;)

Beth, I don’t subscribe to YouTube . I search for things that interest me. Over time I stumble across something special like Garden Answers, she posts a new video every days and it starts my morning Sometimes I add the word video to the search. Am I impressing you with my tech smarts yet. If I find something I like, then slid over to the right where there is usual a list of interesting subjects.

Left Ogden arrived at Mom's late afternoon... I forgot how long that route is it was taken for two reasons wanted to see the reservoir and at the same time I just didn't want to do the passes!!! would have been quicker but I was out of the grocery store before it was dark... saw a really pretty sunset...
saw an interesting flock of ???? just south of Idaho Falls out in a field no water visible at first I thought it was a field of goose but the coloring was wrong these were really white long necks and black on the face I wanted to think that they were swan's but without water under them I was not sure...still don't know what they were and it's so hard just to pull over when on the freeway...
called my dd while in Idaho Falls... since I usually ride when I am with the girls I don't always know how to get to a certain place which was the case at that time I knew what road I needed but not how to get to it... when my dd answered I asked if she was ok she evidently had been sick this week she says she thought flu dr said sinus infection negative for COVID though I said I thought it was perhaps brought on by the pollution in UT I wheeze a lot when I go to bed not usually in the day time unless I've been doing a lot... down there I was wheezing a lot since I've let that area I'm doing much better... just now back to the cold of my mom's house... and is it cold... the thermostat is kept at about 65 so that the pellet stove will kick on to keep a room warm that isn't used that much but it's the only heat in that room... so I have my electric throw on me right now... hard to wrap up when hunched over a computer
I have stuff I need to do tomorrow so that I can leave again on Sunday I think tonight that I am going to not turn on the alarm but if I don't that I'll sleep way late later than normal and I still need to get stuff out of the car wash some clothes and want to wash the bedding if I was smart would take that to the laundry but that means hanging out there to get it done and it's the weekend so perhaps that isn't the best idea...
you all are having a lot warmer temps than we are... snow is predicted for eastern Idaho on Monday don't know about WY haven't looked yet...
it can be tricky finding a new job but perhaps that is what you need to do Barbie... it sounds like the hectic vibes don't work for you ... my son in law uses that type of head phones and he can be doing stuff and not hear a thing of what is going on around him... hope they work as well for you as they do for him...
Shirl I am so not tech inclined or any other inclined... one thing I would like is a new shower head... the hose is just not quite supple anymore and it would be nice to have it longer when giving mom a shower...
you all have a great day
sheila

Barbie, I also think you ought to be looking for a new job. That one is already making you sick, physically and mentally. Start looking so you have a backup plan if you decide to walk out!!

I am already checking CL each day. I plan to see how things go thru December there but it doesn't hurt to look and see what is out there. It took awhile to even find this job so I don't want to just walk out. I wouldn't leave unless I have another job to go to. Can't afford to not be working.

Beth I dont really know much about Youtube Premium plans other than you dont have to watch the ads LOL I dumped Spectrum and have a Roku streaming stick now. I love all the free stuff on the ROKU channel lots of everything on there and no charge. I do know if you have a ROKU streaming stick or TV you better download Youtube before December 9th as Google is pulling it from being available on ROKU platform to new users. They are feuding. But if you download it now on the ROKU platform, even the free app you will have access to it but no new sign ups will. I do pay for Youtube TV that I have to access thru Youtube due to the standoff but it works. I want the local channels so I subscribe to the pay version but dont think you would really benefit from that. I dont know if this helps you or not. But ROKU streaming stick Express is now $15, plugs into your HDMI and bam you are working. Lots of reviews on Youtube about the pros and cons. I couldnt decide whether to go with Hulu or Youtube they were the same price and I am glad I went with Youtube for my cord cutting event LOL

A streaming stick for $15.00 has got to be the deal of the century. I might just get one for "back-up" for my Roku 4K.

Thanks for posting this, Karen. Happy to know you are enjoying your Roku. I have been reading this shut-off of YouTube via Roku might happen, I have been sending your link to all of my YouTube friends.
