Snowy Sunday

Morning all. Been a bit snowy here where I am. Had about 4 inches by late afternoon. Was a nice day to be inside and watch it snow, but was also nice taking the dogs for a walk in the gently falling snow. Cold, but no wind. We have been below freezing since Thursday and I guess we are going back into the 30’s. It’s snowing now and Winter Weather Advisories are posted for another 4-6 plus winds. Not going anywhere anyway. Will go out a bit later and clear off the deck so the pups don’t have to wade in it. Not that they care.

Didn’t find a jacket yesterday, so will do some more looking and might just keep the old one for another year. They really are not something that you can order online because there are so many different brands and they all fit a little different, you almost have to try them on. Judy, you would be amazed at the changes in the snowmobile now compared to what we used to ride. They are faster and more sleek. I enjoyed the years that I did that but now it has become an expensive sport and also because of the design and the larger engines, they are also a lot faster and people ride way too fast. I don’t want to go out alone either. But it was fun. Memories to look back on. I’ve always enjoyed winter as I learned to embrace the season. I done my share of ice skating, tobogganing, dabbled in both downhill and cross country skiing, winter photography, snowshoeing etc. . I don’t mind the cold as I dress for it and I look at shoveling and snow blowing as a form of exercise although I don’t do a lot of shoveling as I let my snow blowers do the work pretty much. I bet the folks who settled here and those who came along over time would be amazed at the equipment we have now for clearing snow, especially here and in the U.P. Where 140-300 inches is common. Our record stands at 210 inches.

So, today I will paint some woodcraft stuff and put the Urethane on the finished ones. Shirl, your branch idea sounds cute. Neighbor across the road has a lightpost out by the drive and put an orange bulb in for fall. He just changed it to green for the Christmas season. Pretty. Everybody really seems to be in the Christmas mood this year. Decorations are flying off the shelves and Hobby Lobby is pretty much cleared out. But Thry have been 50% off for awhile now.

Time to watch Mass on TV, so better get going here. Have a nice day everyone.

Morning Sue and All, sunny and a cool 49°. Supposed to be 52°this afternoon so will take a walk in the woods. Will work on Christmas balcony decoration. The size will be determined by what will fit in the Subaru, fit in the elevator and that I can physically manage. Will probably give other tenants something to talk about. The crazy lady who hauls dead branches in the elevator. Wish me luck. Be safe

Shirl, if anyone sees you with the branches tell them you are having a campfire on the balcony. No, maybe you better not do that. I haven't had an urge to decorate yet. The table I put the Christmas tree on is full of junk. It's by the front door so is a catch all. I was going to look for gift bags in the old house when I went to feed the cats. My pea brain can't remember two things. I put some things in the camper and unloaded some summer clothes. It's going to be in the 70's next weekend so don't need heavy clothes.

The rain finally moved past here. I think it rained off and on all night. It's up to 65 and the sun is out. It was so overcast yesterday that my solar lights didn't charge.

I'm tired of Thanksgiving food so had some chicken gumbo out of the freezer for lunch. There is only one planned meal for the campout and the rest are on your own. Knowing my sister, there will be a lot of eating out. She wants to go Christmas shopping in Lafayette at Dirt Cheap. I do not like that store. You might find a bargain but you will have to dig for it.

There is nothing I want to watch on TV and I'm sick of football.

Martha

Just back from my walk on the edge of the woods. I would have probably fallen and died in the woods. I got two branches I hope will work and left them in the suv. Will get them tomorrow. Good thing I’m starting early or it would be an Easter tree. Martha, I seldom see anyone but if I do I will tell them about my campfire. I think you and I could get into a lot of trouble together. Lol Walking over plowed rutted fields to get to the woods has tired me out. Think a tuna salad sandwich for dinner.

P.s. Martha I found a video of a Dean Martin Christmas show on YouTube whic I am looking forward to watching. I will post site if any interest. I need memories of happier times and something that matches my sense of humor.

Sue, they were riding MUCH too fast in the 80s when we were riding. We finally started avoiding the Grayling-Gaylord area because it was just too scary. Actually, the really scary place was Tip-Up-Town at Houghton Lake. Most of the time, we had our two kids riding with us (little one in front of me and bigger one behind his dad) so we did not like the people riding so fast and coming around corners. And there was ALWAYS a couple of fatalities each year, mostly dummies riding fast at night on one of the lakes. Between them and the idiots who ice fished on Lake St Clair and floated away on ice flows and then had to get rescued by the Coast Guard, Michigan winters attract crazies. (For those of you who never lived in Michigan, a few years ago, the Coast Guard started charging people large amounts of money, like several thousand $$, for helicopter rescues when they should have known better! Did not slow anyone down from walking and even driving on thin ice. Must be lots of pickup trucks in lakes by now. )

Somebody needs to whack me on the head if I ever plan to change campgrounds, especially when it requires a long drive, on the Sunday after a big holiday when everyone is headed home. I drove from Destin 230 miles east almost to Lake City today in horrible traffic. One traffic jam turned out to be caused by two Florida state police cars parked in the median chatting.

I have done this before and every time tell myself never again, but then I forget and do it again!! Also need to remember not to go for a drive on a sunny Saturday or Sunday into mountains or scenic areas near a big city. Did that once in Portland and a couple of other places, and it was really dumb.

I am kinda in a bah-humbug mood this weekend. Just not feeling it with the holidays right now. Or with much else.

Just been hanging out in my room on the internet, eating pie and ice cream and munching on turkey slices.

Talked to Linda for a bit. She was just getting ready to leave her friend's place in Joshua Tree. Her friend invited me to go up there for Christmas with Linda.

Will probably go to bed early tonight. Went to bed too late last night but was able to sleep in this morning.

Shirl, what would be really scary ( but I would pay good money to be a part of) would be you, Martha and Nan together anytime! Nan’s quick come backs to situations was almost always entertaining…she can improvise on the spot. Okay, we weren’t sure the Border guard at the crossing coming back from Alaska was quite as entertained.

got up to late to go to church so did zoom then I read scriptures then helped dd some with getting her living room ready to decorate... she keeps her tree up all year and hangs different decoration's on it depending upon the season
like today I took off fall/Halloween decoration's so now it's just the lights on it will get decorated for Christmas probably tomorrow night...
bought a dragon fruit yesterday so cut it open today was pretty good I think the first time I've tried it
guess mom's no Thanksgiving was a memory loss... I wonder if some of it is some of the prescription's she is on as her memory has never been much of a concern
really haven't much to report on today...
you all have a great day
