National Seafood Bisque Day

The internet is so helpful that we can find what the national celebrations are. lol I have already been to town and back this morning. When I went to feed the outside cats Mr. P was laying in the flower bed and wouldn't get up. Most of the time he won't let me catch him. The last time he had to go to the vet was because another cat had beat him up. It looks like it might have happened again. I put him in a carrier and called the vet. The vet is doing surgery this morning but they told me I could drop him off. I was kind of thinking about going to the lake again but that will be off if I have a sick cat to see about. I need to go fix the big kennel in the old house so I can put him in there.

I have a dentist appointment November 2 and Sunday I got the first confirmation notice by email. Yesterday I got a confirmation notice by text. This morning I got a text advertising their teeth whitening special for $345. That doesn't sound very special to me. There are times I feel like blocking their number. I really like my dentist but they are getting very annoying.

Yesterday I decided I better make a reservation if I wanted to go to the November campout. The campground only had 6 open sites. I like to wait and see what the weather is going to be. Last year it was so cold we had to put tarps up around the small pavilion we could use. I had to get someone to get me some leggings. I was freezing.

Guess I will be going back to town today to get Mr P.

Morning Martha. I hope Mr. P is okay. Isn't it interesting how their attitude changes when they know they need help and he trusts you to get it for him.

My last outing with Ty last night it was snowing lightly. My car and outside step are still covered as the temp is just finally rising. Should get to 50 or better and sunny today. And the wind is gone. That's the best part!

For some reason this morning I decided to check the reservation system for McDowell Mountain near Phoenix. It's a park I treat myself to when going through, if I can get a reservation. I've checked a few times and none of my favorite sites were available and basically none with a few days together anywhere. Lol and behold I got in my favorite area today for 4 nights after leaving here! There must have been a recent cancellation and I went on just at the right time! I'm a happy camper! Now I have to work hard to make sure I can leave when I'm predicting!

Afternoon All, cool and sunny, very nice. Ran errands yesterday. Bought tulip bulbs and potting mix at Lowe’s, BJs warehouse for round steak and a few other items, found one ice cube tray at Dollar General and last the bank. Then the challenge of loading wire cart, masking up and struggling through two doors of building. Are you amazed yet at my exciting life. :D Cutting pepper steak recipe in half to cook in 3 qt crockpot so will only take a couple of hours to cook. Going to transplant a big Boston fern into a larger pot and will wait until next month to plant tulips in pot. The balcony/cave is still too hot for bulbs. Cheryl popped into my mind and hope clean out Dad’s house is going ok. Always a stressful chore. Glad Carol and Bill are on their way to Mexico. Don’t know if they realize how much we look forward to following along on their trip, thanks you two. Beth, fingers crossed for your travel plans. Judy is settled for a few days. Nurse, Martha, here you go again. Sue, are you raking yet. I have stalled long enough, time to start the crock pot. Be safe

Been out running errands this morning. DMV for the last piece of paper they need to issue me a duplicate title for the darn thing!!! Good news is I was only in there for 5 minutes LOL Then stopped at the tire store and got my tires rotated. Was in and out there in 30 minutes wahoo, wasnt busy so I pulled in and they took me right away when I left there were 6 people waiting. I am living right today.

Had an early breakfast so will have some veggies and the rest of my crockpot steak for lunch. Dinner is still up in the air.

YAY Beth got a good reservation hope she can keep it LOL I havent got my bulbs yet from the bulb store, think I should get them pretty soon. Was chilly today 39, damp and foggy. Starting to lift now so we should be 65 soon, well maybe not soon. Okay time for housekeeping chores then I can relax. Hope Mr P is okay, I hate when our furbabies are sick. Hoping Sue isnt still hobbling around too much. I am sure she is itching to get outside and start the cleanup for winter.

Actually Karen, I was out hobbling around all day. My foot is doing really well, still some swelling, but I figure as the tissue heals in my foot, that too will subside. I am walking pretty close to normal, but still being careful. I have a pair of winter walking shoes that are ankle high and although they are a bit warm for right now, I have been wearing them while outdoors. Kind of a good foot stabilizer. Am also using moist heat 4 times a day per Chiropractors suggestion. Weather Service is warning us that there is a major weather change coming, so get the outside chores done while we have these 2 sunny, mild days days right now. Starting tomorrow afternoon, The weather goes downhill with rain, temps falling by Friday and a damp wet weekend in 40’s with possibility of some snowflakes by Sunday. So I have been out working in the yard all day, well almost all day, blowing and bagging up leaves with the lawn tractor. Blew out my gutters, so theyy are debris free. Yesterday I covered my outdoor statues and put away the last of the summer outdoor decorations, flattened the boxes the bagging system came in and loaded them plus some other boxes and a bag of recycles into the back of my truck to take to recycle in the morning. So other than putting hoses away, I’m done with outside for now. Still have couple of trees with leaves yet to come down yet and want to change oil, air and oil filters on my lawn tractor but will have time for that yet. Neighbor who has been bringing me meals, my mail, doing my leaves last week, walking my dogs with his wife etc. borrowed my truck this morning to get his pontoon boat out of the water at our POA’s access. So my turn to reciprocate. This is how we do things. They will be leaving for FL next week, so I will watch to make sure mail gets forwarded and clear their drive once it starts snowing.

Martha, hope Mr. P is okay. Beth, that’s great getting your favorite camp spot. I know you will enjoy the change of scenery. Barbie, looks like you are slowly adjusting to your new work schedule and your co-workers. When I worked at the State Park, my shift started at 6 a.m. but I was off work at 2:30.

The fur kids had a bit of adventure this morning. I forgot to shut the gate when we. Are back from our walk yesterday (yes, we are now taking short walks) because we went through the garage to bring the trash can back with us. So when I let them out this morning, they discovered that, and went off exploring. I didn’t miss them at first, but after about 20 minutes hadn’t seen anybody on the deck. Stuck my head outside and called them, no dogs :o Checked inside house and then looked out to see if gate was open, Yep, but Piper was at the door. Didn’t see Molly, but called her and she came from the front porch. They had heard me call earlier. Both of them had wet, dirty feet and pieces of sticks etc. stuck in thrir fur. Figured they must have been out back here, exploring along the edge of the bog  They looked like they had a good time  Can’t be mad since it was my fault, they came when I called them and they didn’t leave the property. They have been cooped up with the exception of maybe two walks with the neighbors and three short ones with me over the past couple days, so they needed that exercise I guess.

So I guess I should go and see what I want to eat for supper. Neighbor bought me some cookie bars that she made a little bit ago, so desert Is taken care of.

My property fronts right on a busy country road. One of my fears has always been that a gate might be left open or a tree, or part of a tree, on the property line in the back comes down and leaves the fence damaged. Thirty years so far and I have been lucky.

Quiet week here. Lark is proud of getting me out to the state park/s and walking several days in some wonderful weather. It has remained too windy to make me think kayaking would be fun. Jane has gotten her ears and face clipped and some basic trimming getting ready for her shows this weekend. Audrey and Lark were lucky enough to join her in a pedicure for all. None of them were amused but they all were resigned to the Dremeling. Lark also needed some extra grooming as a result of her fall romps in the woods.

I dropped the RoadTrek off to get winterized and get an estimate for a replacement refrigerator. This is the first RV I am not comfortable winterizing myself. That fresh water low drain down under the frame is not easy to reach and my body does not do contortions as well as it used to. For those who have watched me travel over the years know that this winterizing does not mean that my travels are over for the fall or winter, it just means that from now on I will depend on jugs of water for everything in the rig and use antifreeze in the gray and black tanks till the spring thaw.

Have been staying busy to day attacking small clusters of clutter. Those spots were miscellaneous objects and papers get deposited when my brain hurts too much to decide whether to throw it out or save it or where to file it. My brother and I had a discussion late last week regarding all the things that will be meaningless to our children..... Sadly some of the things that I sorted through today were not all that meaningful to me..... I try to remind myself to ask if I think that if I need it in three years I couldn't just replace it? Very few items had any sentimental aura connected to them.....

Slept in again. Last night, I realized after dark that I had forgotten to add water to my tanks, so went out late and turned hose on and filled tank about half full. Normally, I do not go out at all after dusk because I get such horrible mosquito bites, but it was breezy and I figured it would be OK. NOT! Early in the morning, like just before dawn, I noticed an itchy spot on one leg, and then later today, I noticed three more bites on the other leg and another one on the back of the original leg. Also found a bite on my face. I am usually OK with two or three bites, but if I get many more, my immune system uses every last bit of its strength to fight these insect bites off. (That's per my doctor, even though it does not make a lot of sense.) The result are sometimes bites the size of quarters or bigger with an infected center, which requires a visit to urgent care for prednisone and antibiotics. About 30% of CLL patients have such mosquito bites, and even though I finished treatment almost two years ago and an supposedly in remission, my body still attacks any bites. It is easier to be in the desert out west than here in Florida, but I like the ocean and birds out here. So far, the bites are still small, so I have been taking benadryl and putting cortisone on the bites in hopes that they stay small. Going to sleep well tonight with all the benadryl.

Guess I am going to have to use a mosquito net on my head and mosquito spray on my legs and arms if I go out even for a beach walk or bike ride tomorrow. Also got to be better about staying indoors at night. Keeping my fingers crossed the current bites go away without getting bigger.

Dumped my tanks today and drove into town to pick up a few items that I need. Got two new nightlights, also. I am discovering that LED bulbs last a long time, but they become less bright over time. The new lights are about 10 times brighter even though they are identical to the old ones.

Glad you got a spot, Beth. This campground has only 20 RV spots and had been full forever, but I have noticed that there was at least one empty spot every night I have been here. I think people cancel at the last minute. I found spots that way 18 months ago when my uncle was in the hospital and hospice, but only at the last minute. I love McDowell Mountain park also, especially the sites where you can see the valley and fountain in the distance!

Last evening right after I posted on here (5pm), I fell asleep on my bed and didn't wake up until 10:30! I thought it was morning already until I realized I was still dressed! I got up, made some toast, put on my PJ's and went back to bed. Slept good until my alarm went off this morning. I guess I WAS tired!! :o

Got a great photo this morning on the way to work of the sunrise shining on the mountains to the west turning them pink!

Had a productive day at work, not too much discomfort with my shoulder. One of my co-workers just got a kitten yesterday and has never owned a cat before, so I rounded up some toys and things here that Lola doesn't care for, to bring to her tomorrow.

Did the haircut tonight. The lady and her husband are snowbirds from Colorado and just bought the lot here for their RV. I guess I played putter's golf with her 2 years ago but there were 50 ladies that year so I don't remember her, but she recognized me. Nice lady. They have a 40+ ft diesel pusher.

Martha, I hope Mr P is doing better tonight. I had a cat when I was growing up that was always in fights and coming home with battle wounds! Lots of abscessed bites! :o He was a large Siamese and would mostly fight with another large male Siamese that belonged to a friend down the street. That cat usually got the worst of the wounds tho.

Beth, so glad you finally got your favorite spot for camping! It pays to be patient and persistent!

Sue, do you put your foot up when it swells? They say to do that and put it higher than your heart to reduce the swelling (or is that just for water retention? :? ).

I wonder if we had a small earthquake earlier tonight. :? I heard the roof creak some and something fell off my night stand. Lola noticed something too. There is no wind so can't blame it on that. I will have to check the earthquake website and see. We haven't had anything here in awhile. Or maybe I just have a ghost! )

(update...I guess it is a ghost because there haven't been any earthquakes tonight in southern CA.

Have a good night.

Judy, yes! A spot with a view of the fountain!

The seven of us workampers are getting together tomorrow with food, of course. One couple planned the whole thing and are making brisket and another meat and a dessert. The rest of us bring sides. I'm making cole slaw, my supervisors are bringing baked beans. No idea what the other couple is bringing.
