Windy Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Windy Wednesday

Postby Acadianmom » Wed Oct 13, 2021 10:40 am

Where is everyone this morning? I'm just waiting for my neighbors call. Yesterday I went to town in the truck and the service engine light came on. I knew she was at home and I didn't want to ask her to come get me if I left the truck at the shop. She went to town this morning and is going to call me when she is ready to come home so I can bring the truck. Looking back through the service records I see that this has been a problem with this truck before.

The neighbor is mowing and has a dust storm going. It's not often that it's dry enough to have dust.

This morning a helicopter flew over so low it shook the house. With all the plane crashes lately that was scary. There is a heliport about 4 miles from me and I am between it and the Gulf. They fly workers offshore.

With the truck problems I won't be able to go camping tomorrow so decided to join the Meetup group tomorrow night. They are going to a BBQ restaurant.

Morning Martha! I've just been hanging out in bed waiting for higher temps. I think I'm willing to walk Ty now, so up I'll get. Tomorrow I work so will have to get out in below freezing temps to walk him. For a dog who burrows under blankets and my quilts inside it amazes me that he prances around outside in the cold. Lol He's a goofball.

Nothing planned here today. I didn't try my individual chicken pot pie recipe yesterday so it's on the agenda for today. I hope I like it as it's an easy recipe and I love chicken pot pies. Well some of them.

Afternoon Martha, still sunny and very humid. Been grappling with life challenges. Needed to decide whether to sign another years lease. Real estate prices are so high, available rentals are scarce so rent for next year really increased. I need to make some serious decisions. Don’t feel like making small talk and at my age I can’t think and make small talk at the same time. :D

Shirl, me having to move would be a nightmare. Hope you don't have to move. With all the people that lost houses from the last hurricane rentals are scarce and rent is out of sight. If a house is listed near here and it's isn't too overpriced it will be sold in a few days.

Beth, hope your chicken pot pie works in the air fryer. I haven't tried to cook anything in mine except things that can be grilled or I guess it would be broiled. I ask my brother in Canada if they had turkey for their Thanksgiving which was Sunday or Monday. He sent me the chicken recipe he cooked. It looks good but has a lot of ingredients and white wine. I never have really cared for food with wine in it. The wine I drink is almost like cool-aid. Not a fan of dry wine.

The next two months of my travels in Florida are going to be beaches and more beaches. I have two weeks at Fort Clinch on Amelia Island on the Atlantic, two weeks each at Grayton Beach and Henderson Beach on the Florida Panhandle Gulf, and two weeks at Gamble Rogers on the Atlantic north of Daytona Beach!! On the last one, my motorhome will be facing the ocean and almost hanging out over the beach grass with a fantastic view and lot of sea breezes. (Hope no hurricanes in those two months. Got evicted from Fort Clinch in 2016 by Hurricane Matthew. Wish me luck, but at least I can move out of the way easily.) I will be driving much less this winter than I have been recently, so will save on my gas costs. However, as I tell people, I have no property taxes and pay no other utility bills. It will also make up for the almost 3,000 miles I drove last month, taking the long way from Ohio to Georgia!!!

By the way, I was in Pacific time 11 months ago when I made those four hard-to-get reservations, so it meant getting up at 4:30 am and logging into the Florida Reservation site. Not easy for a non-morning person like me, but worth it to get prime spots.

I got about 10 hours of sleep last night and even went to bed early. The long drive of 271 miles really tired me out. Going to try to clean out some of the corners I have ignored, and even wash down the cabinets and walls to get rid of spots and dust over the next couple of days. The textured wallpaper does collect dust over time.

I am here at Reed Bingham for another three nights, but I am going out tomorrow to fill up with propane and gas so I can get a clean start on Saturday to meet up with Birdie at Lake City!

Afternoon all. Cloudy and cool here in northern Michigan. Molly is sleeping on the deck, Piper is sleeping somewhere around here d I’m in the recliner. Not a whole lot of change in the foot. I can walk on it, but can’t put pressure on the ball as yet. Found out an Ortho doc who the Arthroscopic surgery on my knees back in late 90’s and early 200’s is still in practice. Thought he had retired. I will call and get an appointment with him to look the situation over.. The debate is between getting a new primary doc and having her coordinate it or just let that part go for now. Or maybe do both.

Carol, hope you two can get off south pretty soon. I think the heated throw is a great idea in the meantime. Barbie, you certainly have had an energy spurt. Karen, I hear ya on the cardboard. I have a bunch in my garage along with two garbage bags full of stuff to haul to the recycle.

Boy, we nust all be bored, if food is the big deal these days or running out of ideas on what to fix  Seems like I got everybody hungry for Sloppy Joes now. I actually had one for breakfast this morning. There’s a really good recipie on http://www.Allrecipes.com for Sloppy Joes. Called Sloppy Joes II and it’s really easy to make. First time I ever tried it, was at a camping trip and had a group for dinner. They liked it so much, They kept going back for more. I just threw all the ingredients in my crockpot to keep warm, as I made it before I left home. Karen, try looking up Low Carb re pies on that site too. Low Carb works better than Low Cal I have found.

Leaves are coming down like snowflakes out there today. The Pine Needles were coming down like crazy the other day. Heavy shed this year. I would like to be out there, but hopefully down the line I can. Rain heading in later anyway.

So, chicken soup is heating in the micro, lunch time. Supper still in the air yet, but spaghetti sounds good. Soon as neighbors go shopping, either today or tomorrow and I get a couple potatoes, Stew in the Slow Cooker will be one the menu. So now that I set off another round of cravings  , I’ll go eat my soup and wish you all a nice day. :)

Shirl, I hope you don’t have to move again. But I can understand your dilemma. Your are in an area of prime real estate too and that means higher rents. A lake front vacation rental home here, can be as much as $150-$300 plus a day , depending on location, size etc. and rental apts and homes can be $100o a month on up. And that’s not even near water. And heating cost are supposed to go up as well as gas prices. And we all know about groceries…….

Shirl, I hear you! I have until the end of May and I'm sure they will up the rent, but there aren't any other options in the area.

Monica sent a picture of snow on a ridge this morning. She has been told that once that snow appears, it will snow in the valley the next week. With climate change, I think/hope maybe not this time! :)

I need to find some motivation - again! Have a good day!

I was motivated this morning, I went and got my high dose Flu shot so that is over now. Dont think I need any more vaccines LOL well I do need a TDAP but will get that after the 1st of the year. Before I left I put 4 fairly large beets in my Instant Pot. Came home and peeled and sliced them, had a nibble and so good so will have them for dinner with some salmon. Having a cup of 60cal hot chocolate and it is pretty good, Staving myself off for dinner as I want to eat before 5.

Threw a load of laundry in and now I am going to try to organize all the wires behind my tv since I got rid of my Spectrum Box. I still have the router and modem wires to organize. I just hate all the wires dangling down as the back of my tv stand isnt enclosed.......yet. The one in the living room tv stand is solid wood with barn doors on the front so I never see those wires, and it has the least. Tv wire,ROKU wire, that is it. The one in the family room has TV, ROKU, Firestick, Sound bar, Cable to Modem, and Router. Sheesh.

We have snow in our Cascade mountains around here and the passes have snow alerts. I loved seeing the snow on Mt Ashland and now I think I pretty much have to drive about a half hour to see snow in the hills here. Sue food is always a hot topic for me LOL I like cooking healthy and trying new recipes. I like to see what other people have made and how it turned out. I pretty much know what is high in calories (all the stuff I like) and what is reasonable. I am not dieting just looking for ways to make something different. I like to have a good breakfast, light lunch and decent dinner. NO snacking. That is the harder part but doable. So far I have been very good. (miracle) Beth you will have to do a report on the chicken pot pie, it sounds super good. Well need to get busy and get something done.

Hello Everybody. It’s tea time here on the east or an early cocktail if so inclined.
Carol, yes I have been to San Carlos several times but not in an RV. We stayed at the convention center hotel. Very nice accommodations.
Got my booster shot yesterday. Very little reaction, a mild headache, sore arm near injection site, etc
Shirl, sorry to hear about your plight. Moving is no fun. Have you called Elderly Services to see if you have any other options
Hope you enjoyed your day

I have family so how to move or where to go is not the dilemma It’s deciding when. I signed the lease so am committed for another year. Life is uncertain and at my age it is harder to decide because of a year long lease. It’s done so will solider on. :D

Sheila, the 2 ingredient microwave slice of bread is simply self rising flour and milk. I use almond milk. If you want the exact recipe, or anyone else does, let me know and I'll post it in the recipe room.

Thanks Beth... will look forward to it being there although I never use self rising flour but think there is a way of fixing all purpose flour into self rising...
I think today was an up day... got to the hospital and mom is off oxygen I am having a brain freeze can't remember what it is called where they put in the IV or meds or whatever.. had been setting in the chair and when I left was sitting in the chair eating supper... more talkative too... although she did get her dozing in... also the urine looks better would assume it will be gone soon lots more input or is it out put???
it's bed time got a late start on the computer I had a issue when it came to my afghan was putting the row on that pattern is single crochet 2 stitches what I call a dropdown don't know it's name then single crochet 19 times drop down repeat end with drop down then single crochet 2 stitches it didn't ... I usually leave really long strand of yarn in case I have to add more stitches in some I didn't leave enough... just a mess but have it looking right... even with some of them with knots adding more yarn  if I was smart I would pull out those seven rows and start all over not sure why I've had such a problem with counting and they are marked as well and I count often...will have to give it a good thought tomorrow...
think I am turning off Murder She Wrote and going to bed... tomorrow there is going to be a food truck out at Smith's for fish and chips don't know where they come from location wise but think I am going to try it out also need milk and bread at the very least...
woke up to snow lower even some on the lawn but differently further down the mountains... would love to drive out see the snow on the Teton's may do that one day soon... I get up and do things or not usually get to the hospital between 1 and 2 then leave between 5:30 and 6:30 I don't like coming home in the dark and it's starting to get darker sooner when is the change over from daylight to regular time??? haven't seen reminders like we usually do
you all have a great day

Falling asleep here but will just write a quick post.

There is snow on the top of the larger peak near Big Bear today. Was in the low 70's today. Had to close up the house tonight as it got a little too chilly. Actually turned the heat on in my bedroom a little.

Did a haircut after work today and then got a text message from a lady in the park here who wants a haircut this weekend. I don't know her. I assume she found one of my cards in the laundry room.

Now with the border opening up in early November we will have a ton of Canadians coming down before Thanksgiving here. Will be hopping around here this season! Haven't heard about Putter's golf league yet but I just know that I won't be running it this year!

Have a good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
