Hi ladies~~~
Been a while since I checked in and can't remember when that was.
Dad was back in the hospital for a week starting September 11th. The home health monitoring nurse called and said he was so bad, etc. She said get him to hospital. I was afraid she was going to threaten me with elder abuse! Ambulance brought him back, WITH the DNR, and by the time I got to emergency room, they had him on a C-Pap with 100% oxygen! Took 2 days off fighting with them and getting his doctor involved to remove the C-Pap and move him to hospice unit.
Now they want to discharge him because he's "stable". It will have to be to a facility with hospice because physically I cannot do it at home. Most 24 hour nursing agencies have no staff or have stopped home visits due to Covid.
I feel so bad. He says he wants this over with.
Wish I had more uplifting news.

Cheryl, I’m so sorry for your sad news. I have walked in your shoes, so know how difficult this situation is. Covid has made this so much more difficult. ((Hugs )))

Good afternoon Cheryl, Shirl and all!
Cheryl, I am so sorry for the setback your father had and hope things settle down for you. I know this hasn't been easy for you and as hard as it is to do, please take care of yourself, too.
BJ, you are in my thoughts today.
Hi Shirl! It's always good seeing you check in from the shore.
Things are basically the same here in central FL. We've been waiting on a glass curio cabinet that was ordered and supposed to be shipped everyday since Friday but has yet to arrive. After finally talking to a person this morning with a severe stutter, we believe the package has been found and are waiting for another call back from them. Then I can display my assortment of bells and other things we brought with us. We hope this happens soon so we can finish emptying boxes, but we're close.
Enjoy the rest of your day.

Cheryl (((hugs)))! I also have been in your shoes. It is a tough place to be. So bittersweet. On one hand you don't want to see them suffer, on the other hand you don't want to let them go. Such a heartbreaking situation!
I am so sorry you are going thru this.
......................................................
I can hear the lawnmowers getting closer doing the scalping this morning. They take it right down to the dirt.
I just applied on line to a library in Rancho Mirage for 2 different part-time positions there. Will see if I hear back. I have always wanted to work at a library. It isn't very far from my other job so it would be convenient to go from one to the other each day if I could work out the hours to coincide. Crossing my fingers...

Cheryl, sorry your dad had a setback. After going through this with my mother and Harold I think you just about have to have your DNR tattooed on your chest for them to keep up with it. Hope you can find somewhere that will take him. Covid has make everything harder.

So sorry Cheryl to hear of the recent downturn in your fathers condition. Hopefully they can find a place for him in order to keep him comfortable.
Well this morning we have fog, 49 degrees and supposed to be 76 here today and 90 tomorrow....crazy weather for a few days. I was grateful for the small rain amount we received but we need lots more this winter and a huge snowpack would help LOL might as well wish to win the lottery cause either is not going to happen.
Just a few housekeeping chores on the agenda for today at least inside. But if it warms up out there later I need to cut down my tomato plants, if not it can wait until later this week. I fell asleep in the recliner yesterday afternoon........I HATE that because then I dont sleep at night. I finally fell asleep at around 12:30 and was awake at 4:15 Fitbit says I slept 3hrs and 44 minutes. I believe it. SO, today anytime I feel my eyes closing (which they will if I stay seated) I am hopping up and doing something. I envy you all that can nap and then still sleep at night. Just has never worked for me. Always screws up my sleep patterns. Making Taco salad for dinner, easy peasy. I need to go to the store for a few things but that can wait until much later in the week.

Cheryl, I am so very very sorry to hear this. I cannot imagine what you must be going through - and to worry about being accused of elder abuse on top of everything else. . . is just beyond the pale.
It is good that you recognize your own limitations, stand firm.
I pray that you find a caring facility for your father soon.

Cheryl, If the doctor has no advice I would start calling The Dept. of Aging, Senior Centers, home health agencies, etc.for suggestions. If all else fails is private nursing an option. Maybe there are nurses who prefer not to work in hospitals but would be willing to do private duty.

Cheryl, I'm sorry to read about your dad's setback and the care issues. Hugs and prayers!
I sent my daughter the usual 'Good Morning' text so she knows I'm still here. She responded that she had been attacked by one of her middle school special-needs students! I don't have details, but sounds like mostly he grabbed her hair, wouldn't let go and had a seizure at some point. Why they allow a one-on-one situation in a classroom, I have no idea, but think that had best change. Staff was looking after her and getting her calmed down.
Karen, I fell asleep in my chair the other evening and woke at 9:30 p.m. Still went to bed at the usual 1 a.m..
Thinking of BJ. Barbie, I think working in a library would be fun.
I think household chores are in order here, too. Must run some errands this week.

Thinking got you Cheryl. And As others have mentioned I have lived long enough to have walked in similar shoes and can imagine your weariness. It does help that your father has agreed to the DNR, even as you may be the one reminding everyone who is responsible for respecting it and Hospice is a godsend. Not only will they help support and provide comfort for your father but they should be able to be there for you.

Big hugs Cheryl, I am so sorry to hear about what is happening in your life. I hope you can resolve the care issue, everything is just so turned upside down because of covid .
Thank you for the good wishes. I made it through the MRI with no problem. The two girls who did it were wonderfully kind and had on masks and face shields. Apparently the dye is a newer type. I was in the machine for an hour, then they brought me out, injected the dye and I went back in for another 12 minutes. The noise didn't bother me too much and I didn't feel claustrophobic at all, but it was hard not to move my head for that long! I am very glad it is over!
We had a good rain here yesterday and it is still warm but the weather man says a change is coming.

Cheryl so sad to hear about your father slip back I knew that you had taken him to the hospital but then hadn't heard any more .... I hope that they can find him a place where he will be comfortable... prayers have been with you and your dad they will continue...
Barbie before I forget did you ever get your golf cart to work? don't know why I thought about that now but started to wonder... also that would be fun to work in a library hope that you can pick up that job...
having a cup of hot chocolate... closed the window and donned the flannels last night haven't put my pj's on yet but so cold
so the hot chocolate is tasting really good...
got the vacuuming done... and garbage taken out actually nephew took out one cause it was full then took the can down to the street but I still had other garbage to gather and the bathroom garbage although he was being helpful he was ahead of the game...
had to call and have him come over cause we couldn't figure out how to open the pellet stove to clean it out and for some reason my phone wouldn't open the video on you tube that I found so now we know how to do it... suppose to be cleaned out daily at least that is what mom remembers them saying now to see if I can get to it before she does...
you all have a good day
