Lovely Sunday the 12th

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Lovely Sunday the 12th

Postby Birdie » Sun Sep 12, 2021 8:23 am

I woke up to mid 60 temps, so decided jeans and long sleeved t-shirt for chores. I am currently wavering on coffee or black Cherry Pomegranate juice and some fresh fruit. May be still to cool. I did get my chores done like chop-chop this morning. Will warm up to mid 80’s but humidity will stay low. I got my Fall Flu shot yesterday, little sore this morning. I may get the map out and start planning two trips back. Looking like something may pop up in the hurrykane area within the next 10-12 days. I am finding out that you just never know. But if you are traveling you should know. Hearing the birds call this morning. Sounds like an oriole in the neighbors patch. Lots of them migrating just now. Mid September is when the Hummingbird Festival is held down on the coast here in TX. Time for those little guys to get out of the country. Now a second oriole calling to the first one. Okay going in for my binocs. You ladies have lots of fun, be safe!

Morning Birdie and All, my weather respite is over, humidity is going up again. BJ, I danced through my teen years. I lived for teen center every Friday and Saturday. Wish I could wisk today’s children back then. My daughter ask if girls danced with girls in the 50’. They sure did. I remember the girls I danced with more than boys. Well, there was the one guy from Little Italy. I might try to germinate seeds in a plastic container. Definitely will try a pot of tulips. Need to take something out of the freezer for dinner and make list for Lowe’s garden center. Going to sit the IPad on the kitchen counter and see if my legs will still bend to The Stroll. Won’t even seem like exercise. Be safe

Good morning to all. Don't have any thing really to say but thought I'd check in. RV insurance called and said our RV "might" be ready by Sept 24. The generator might have to be replaced..parts are ordered. I am glad it is at dealers instead of here in the storage lot. Sleep easier at night. Tomorrow the HOA comes by again to inspect to make sure we pruned our oleander. It looks ugly now, but glad to do it to keep them happy.
It is 8 a.m.l and already in high 80's. We had to make quick trip to grocery store earlier as Bill forgot to buy parsley for his milenese. He makes oddles of it. Freezes really good and then he has it for sandwiches.
I am starting another quilt but need to cut zillions of strips of material and iron them all flat. Going to try to get them all cut and ironed this morning while it is still cool. Might just cut them all, sprinkle them, roll them up and put in refridg until I am more into ironing. Give me something to do.
Seems like the days are just dragging by. Hopefully by next week the temps will start going down. Even 98 sounds cool.
Bill washed his Jeep the other day and wouldn't you know we had rain. Heard thunder then the rain hitting the patio for a few minutes then it was over.

Good morning! I think I talk about mowing all the time too! Not to worry, it’ll change in a couple of months when I complain about shoveling snow! ;) Judy, I had a thought last night that maybe Camping World might be able to help you with the mattress situation. Looked up where the store was and it said it’s only about 4 miles from the SP you’re staying. Just a thought for what it’s worth. Sun is shining this morning and supposed to get into the low 80’s so another good day to be outside. I need to get some weeding done out front in the two beds I have out there so may be a good day to do it. Need to figure out where and when to get my flu shot for this winter at some point too. I don’t usually react to them but guess I should think of the what if and what I have scheduled for the week just in case. Still deciding what I want to do today. For sure Rascal and I need a walk sometime today! I’ve been promising him one for a few days now so should do it! Good for both of us! My groomer still hasn’t contacted me so guess another call to her tomorrow. If she weren’t so good with him and been grooming him since he was a puppy I might think about changing. But she works by herself and stays busy so I give her a pass all the time. Not to mention she does have a family too! So that’s about it for me today. Hope you all have good day and find something that gives you joy.

I saw the posts yesterday with the discussion about what each of us post about our days. Mine are so boring I worry about even mentioning them since each seems to just melt into the next without much change - almost so I could just copy the day before into the current day. After taking the pups out for a walk each morning, it’s back inside to practice painting. That’s my excuse for not having time to clean until I just have to take a day and get it done. Despite some very kind comments, I do worry about posting too many paintings, especially since I’m still just trying to figure out all the different techniques. Right now I’m working on what I like to think is a Midwest farm/barn. We’ll see how it comes out.

Hope everyone has a great day and you can enjoy whatever makes you happy.

Oh crap, they just named the tropical storm in the Gulf. Right now it's suppose to hug the Texas coast but that could change. All the people in Louisiana with roof damage will not be happy if it moves this way. Birdie, you might have to take the high road. Colleen is hosting an RVW campout I think starting the 23rd in Rockport. I think it's at the campground we stayed at. I tried to get one of the Hummingbird Festival t-shirts the year we were there. Every year I look to see what they look like. I wish they would sell them online. The rain that was predicted is just getting here.

This morning I smelled smoke and started looking to see where it was coming from. Nothing panics me like the threat of fire. The neighbor must have been burning old hay and there was a lot of smoke. It was on the other side of their barn so I couldn't see what they were doing. That reminded me that I needed to burn the boxes that were in the burn cage before the rain started.

Sharon, I'll take the mowing instead of the snow shoveling. I mowed Sugar's yard this morning. I ask the guy that has the land across the road to mow the part of the yard I haven't been able to get to. He is always passing with his tractor and bush hog. My flu and pneumonia shot are due Saturday. I don't usually react to them either but I think I'll wait until Monday. If I have a reaction I don't want it on a weekend.

Judy, there are some places I would like to go again, this time without kids. There is a Crawfish Festival at a town near here and I went 40 years ago with my youngest in a stroller. I had so much fun I haven't been back. lol I wouldn't mind going to Disney World and Epcot again without kids but I think that ship has sailed.

Barbie, I hope your Governor doesn't get recalled. I am glad Louisiana has a Governor with a back bone at this crazy time. This is his second term so only God knows what idiots will run next election. I'm sure the State Attorney General that tried to sue the Governor over the mask mandates with run. I hope it's someone with integrity and not a lier.

I didn't take anything out for lunch so don't know what I'll have. I might fry the eggplant I have. I think I have some breadcrumbs in the freezer.

Sandi, I enjoy all the paintings you post. Maybe you can be another Grandma Moses with the farm and barn. lol I took a couple of classes where they tell you what to paint and the colors to use. I am more of a paint by number person. Wish I had your talent.

Good morning gals!

I woke up in time to watch the church service, but like usual, they were having technical difficulties. It finally came on but it was just the talk, not the whole service. It wasn't until the very end that I realized it was a rerun of a service from July! I must not have been paying attention that day since it didn't seem familiar to me! But it was a good lesson anyways. They really need to get their act together with the live streaming and technical stuff. There is a problem every week with sound, video, etc.

Now to get up, wash my hair and go do haircuts. Then back to work on the living room.

Have a good day!

Carol, why do you put them in the fridge?

Good afternoon ladies!

I, too, feel like I don't have anything exciting or new to report. While we were in MD, it was all about emptying a house and now that we're back in FL, it's been about emptying boxes and trying to make the casita & motorhome our home. We're waiting on a glass curio cabinet I ordered and for some reason, the first order didn't take so had to re-order it. I want to display my bells and other mementoes that we brought with us. The organ mover had shoulder surgery and won't be able to move the organ from church to here until the beginning of October. It all takes time but we're getting there.

Martha, I constantly think of you when I see storms churning in the Gulf. Barbie, I think Carol puts the squares in the refrigerator to keep them damp until she irons them. Karen, I admire everything you've done in the past year. I'm so happy Laura is closer to you now. And Anita & Shirl have both had big moves. And at our age, that's not easy. My body proved that while we were emptying our house. Beth, right after Steve & I got married, we managed a hotel, and that's not easy work what you are doing. When our housekeepers didn't show up, we stripped beds and cleaned rooms. Sharon, I don't envy you with all the yard work you do and Sue, also. But it doesn't matter what anyone posts. Sheila, I think it's amazing how close your family is. I didn't realize that until now, when I only have 2 sisters left. I'm always anxious to see what goes on in your corners of the world, so please keep telling us your itty bitty news. Cheryl, thanks for mentioning that.

Barbara, putting sprinkled fabric items in fridge is a old trick to prevent mildew if you don't get to ironing as soon as you hoped.

I'm going to respectfully request that you all cease and desist political comments. I got yelled at by Beth early in my membership here for mentioning my politics. I'm guessing she still wants this to be a no politics group. Thank you for respecting her clear wishes for this group.

Great start to the day as Seahawks won their first game of the season! Woohoo!

I understand the not having anything to talk about especially of late when my mood hasn't been the greatest. One of the things I always enjoy are comments that bring a memory to mind - like the Stroll (I had forgotten that song) or putting dampened clothes in the frig. I haven't dampened clothes since steam/spray irons came out! Of course, I don't iron very much either. I always loved to dance. In junior high we had lunch time dances in the gym.

Martha, watching storms! y niece and her guy were just at Disney World. Being the 50th anniversary, I would really like to go, but I doubt that will happen. I loved Rockport, TX and our gtg there. Steven and I happened to be there one year in January when there was a Gospel Festival. I always wanted to go back. I thought Steven would drop me off Friday night and Saturday morning, but he stayed through all the performances. Maybe we needed that because he died just a few months later.

I think I have another football game to watch. :) Have a good day/evening.

Going back to the ice cream topic of the previous couple days... Last year when buying pints for the store to sell I accidentally ordered Blue Bunny Mint Chocolate Chunk instead of their mint chocolate chip. I've always loved mint chocolate chip but their mint chocolate chunk became my favorite. It's hard to find now and I rarely buy ice cream anymore. But I promise if I find it again, it'll find it's way to my cart! I have some other flavors I like, but mint chocolate chip/chunk is my favorite and I could eat it daily.

Martha, I hope this latest storm doesn't develop into anything threatening to you.

I'm happy to no longer mow or shovel. Lol I'd love fresh veggies from my garden but am not willing to do the necessary work. I love hearing about all of you doing it though.

Sandi, I never tire of seeing each one of your pieces of work. Please keep sharing them. The new one today reminds me of the farm, etc, where most of my family vacations were spent during my youth. Love it.

Velda, yes, we try to keep politics at bay here. That said, it pains me that wearing or not wearing a mask has become political. It should be common sense, imo, and not political at all.

Good morning been outside cutting down my tomato plants, ready to take them out of their containers. So I planted seed potatoes in my grow bags. Watered them fertilized them, so dumped them out today, there was not one damn potato in there LOL So much for that experiment. The soil was super dry. Might try again next year, I think they were in too much direct sun for the summer and I need to figure out a better way to water them without overwatering.....will be checking Youtube......again. Also need to plant my tomatoes somewhere else. Again too much direct hot sun for them and need a better watering system. So next year it is to try again.

My front yard is finished as the mulch is down and it looks really good. Will need to cut back my Hydrangeas then plant my bulbs this fall so no big projects out there. My shed is painted and I just need to do the trim but can do that anytime. Barbi sounds like you did quite a bit or cleaning and organizing, good for you. Always feels so good when I get a project done. Irmi is getting all settled as is Anita. I am feeling settled so that is a good feeling also. Sandi I love your pictures, dont hesitate to post them, they bring a smile to my face, you are so talented. Heck I cannot even draw good stick people. Martha, hoping that darn storm just fizzles out, but I know that probably will not happen so will hope it misses you entirely. Birdie will be watching the weather I am sure for her trek home. I have some ice cream in the freezer that I haven't even opened yet but I think today may be the day. I love Tillamook Oregon Strawberry, it is the creamiest ice cream ever. I did overdose on it a couple years ago so havent had it for a while but it was on sale so I bought some of the Strawberry and Rocky Road so I am all set.

Thinking I will have some fish and chips for dinner. I almost forgot I bought some at Costco last time I was there so I want to try it and see if it measures up. Will make some french fries in my air fryer, they are so darn good done that way.

Beth, I can’t express adequately how wonderful it makes me feel as a beginning painter to hear that something I painted brought back good memories for you. Thank you. You made my day! And thank you too to all others for your encouraging comments.

my dd and sil came over for supper really enjoyed having them here... told me that the truck is doing much better after having the tranny hose replaced... still want to have the oil leak double checked... probably will be taking the truck south with me I am assuming... which is ok although to be honest I was giving thought to having a different means of getting around... that Texas gtg was even sounding like perhaps a thought still is but will have to see about it later...
I was totally shocked the other day when I drove past a gas station noticed the price of diesel (it hit a high of 3.99 and was that on Monday) when I went to the store on Thurs it was (drum roll....3.66!!!!) what a drop actually I think that price of 3.99 was last week Monday it was a tab bit lower like 3.94 on Monday then 3,66 we will get our sequences right... and it is still at the lower price will hope that it remains that way when I do start out to drive...
I actually have 4 siblings a sister in Vegas a brother in Idaho and two brother's in Wyo. I am the eldest sister is youngest... with another sister and brother younger than my sister that have passed on... but in terms of helping mom the sister is too far away and disabled one brother still works so it leaves it to the three of us...I texted my family today tell them that my plans were to return home the week following mom's b'day and we have to figure out what is best for mom hopefully with mom in on the plans... haven't heard from any of them... but at least I have brought up the subject...
hope you all are safe while still in the area's of excess weather... what ever the excess maybe...
it's getting to be fall saw some tree's turning hopefully one day will be able to go for a drive and look at the colors...
love to see your painting Sandi
it's about time to go to the bedroom... do the winding down thing not that I've done a lot but we still need to veg out a bit..
you all have a good day
