48 out so still in bed, but will be a nice walk with Ty before work. Upper 70's for a high in my neck of the woods.

On the job front, (drumroll), I've come to terms with the place in West Yellowstone and received the official agreement overnight. I'll approve it later today and send it back. So, in the flash of an eye, my eastern trip is postponed at least one more year and Montana will be my home for 4 1/2 months next year.

And that's my bitty news for today. Off to work shortly.

Congratulations Beth. I thought you would take the job, it sounds like an amazing place and very well suited to you.

I got up early today and motivated. Have a pot roast in the crockpot, kitchen tidied up, swept the floor and now on my second cup of coffee. Going to clean off my back deck and put some stuff out there away now that I have a place for it in my storage shed. Then want to power wash it and get all the dust and dirt gone. Will pick up some sealer this week as I think it will need it badly by this winter. Will finish painting my shed this week also. Lots of small projects to get done before the weather turns on me. Decided to tackle the smaller jobs first then I can put a period behind them and move on. This winter will start painting on the inside at my leisure. Cause winter seems to last a long time LOL And not much to really tackle outside in the winter.

Having my second cup of coffee and will head outside in a bit while it is still cool 53° but needs to be a bit warmer first. Our high will be 79° so I have time ha ha

Morning Beth and All, overcast and humid but no rain. Beth, that is big news. Do you get a picture of the site you will occupy or are you surprised when you arrive. Just hanging out at home today. I probably didn’t explain the traffic situation or tech comment properly. I live on an island that connects to the western shore by the Chesapeake Bay bridge. You can get to the bridge by route 50 or swimming across the bay. The traffic backs up for miles so people check their smart phones for alternate routes. The phone shows an alternate as the original old two lane roads that run alongside the highway and feeds back on to route 50. There are signs instructing travelers to stay on the highway so the two lane road can be used for emergence equipment, fire trucks, police or brave locals who need a prescription. Travelers follow their phones thus my snarky comment.
Lol This is more info than you need but I have nothing else to do. The dog next door barked from lunch time yesterday until 5:15 am this morning so I really need chocolate for breakfast. A long nap in my future. Would really like enough energy to bake a batch of cookies. Maybe after a nap. Be safe

Good morning to all. Too bad the east and west coast can't magically get each others weather. This morning is the first morning we've been able to open the doors for quite a while. First the heat then the smoke. Today at eight o'clock it is only 77 out and the sky is clear. But going up to 106 later and wind is shifting so smoke will be back.
Bill is bothered more by the booster then me. He is still really tired, got the shot on Thursday. I am fine today, I think. Arm a little sore. Thought I was fine yesterday too but all of a sudden around noon I just felt icky and exhausted. After nap I was fine.
Seems like longer ago then a week that the RV was stolen. Dealing with insurance company paper work, adjuster has checked things out but waiting until unit can be really inspected, and dealership on repairs. Hopefully the generator wasn't damaged when they tried to take it out. So glad the police managed to recover it before we even knew it was gone. Dealership will move it to an area where it can be plugged in so we can go inside and clean it up and take stock of what is missing and see if I can find the paper work the insurance wants. Copies of all maintenance we've done on it??? Learned what not to leave in RV after we come home from a trip. They rifled through all Bill's clothes - he wants to throw them out - No way, going to wash them they are fine. My underwear is missing...but my socks and nightgowns are still there. Weird. For sure we know they took our big area rug, the wooden box Bill made me that held post its, pencils, pens, calculator and other junk. And I had put the beaded jewelry I'd made for my friend in Mazatlan in one drawer in the RV when we were putting stuff out there to get ready for our not taken summer vacation. I brought my t shirts back in but left bag with the earrings and necklace in the drawer. We are thankful it was not worse.
Not been doing too much. Cooking more than usual and doing puzzles. Glad there were NASCAR races on TV this weekend. Something to do for a little bit.
Hope everyone in path of storms and fires stays safe.
When I watch the news it makes me appreciate how lucky we are here.

Good morning, all.

Beth, we have often discussed on here where each of us "would move to if we could", how (it seems) we all look for something different in a place one to another, and how many of you full-timers are always searching for that "last best place" that will be where we would like to live when the travelin' days are done.

I'm not a full timer, never have been, but have traveled - some - over the slowly scrolling years.

Out of all of the places that I have ever been, out of all of the places that I have ever seen. . . the area around West Yellowstone "did it" for me, far more than anywhere else ever has.

[Sigh].

I was there for a week in 2018. First - and likely the last - time I will ever visit. I hope you like it there as much as I did.

West Yellowstone will remain in my heart forever.

Anne

Good morning gals!

Woke up just in time to watch the church service. The message was a little too deep for me today but gives me something to think about. :?

Beth, congrats on your new job! Is it at a resort or in a town? Do you plan to work this winter or take it off to relax and explore?

Ann, it sounds like the thieves had another vehicle that they had loaded up and took off in before the police got there. I am sure it is unsettling knowing someone has gone thru your stuff like that.

I will head over shortly to check on Lily. Then take care of some things around here. Yesterday was a bust. I just didn't feel like doing anything all day. Hoping today I will be more motivated.

Have a good Sunday. :D

To try to answer questions:
Anne, I've been there before and that's one reason I was so tempted by the initial email. Shirl, my site is behind a warehouse lol. It won't have a pretty view. But it's convenient to the store, a laundromat in town and I think only a couple blocks from the west entrance of Yellowstone. I'll be working a small jewelry/gift shop in town. The owner put in the sites to offer free for the store workampers. It's 3 or 4 blocks from the store. And will have free wifi and cable.

Barbie, my plans are to take off the majority of the winter. Jan-Mar in south Texas, early April visiting Karen in east Texas (and hopefully anyone else who can make it). I'll be in West Yellowstone mid-May.

Beth, I am excited for you! We were there in mid-May one year and saw an elk calf that had just been born! In the fall one year heard the elk bugle. Yellowstone has always been at the top of my list!

At the moment it appears we will be having temps only in 70s and 80s.

Beth, it sounds eminently do-able. The only view I had at the campground I stayed at in West Yellowstone was a view of other RV's. And the place charged an arm and a leg.

There is also - at least, there was when I was there (who knows now) a small, Mom & Pop type grocery store that I discovered in West Yellowstone. The prices were a bit high - as to be expected, the town being a resort type of place, and also the fact that stuff had to be brought in from somewhere else. But the quality of the meat and the produce was good.

That being said, I found the prices there fair, and do-able. I don't remember the name of the place, I might be able to find out if you wish - but you likely know of such things already.

Wish I were going there. . .

Anne

So Beth, you will actually be IN West Yellowstone? I spent a lot of time there when my Jeep was being worked on for several days and then a couple more. since I wasn't able to see the park until the last day I was there. I stayed at the KOA a couple miles from there. Lots of cute shops and restaurants. I got a shirt from the Slippery Otter Bar and Restaurant after eating there. There is sure no shortage of great scenery even if you can't see it from your RV site.

Another wasted day. Just not feeling very energetic this weekend. Did get some "Lily love" earlier today. :D No golf on TV today since the tournament is near NYC and the hurricane was supposed to hit there today so they postponed play for today. They will try to resume it tomorrow if possible.

Yes, Barbie, I'll be in West Yellowstone. And, Anne, there are 2 stores in town with limited products and, of course, higher prices. But the closest local store to me now had limited products and higher prices. There the closest town with big name stores will be about 80 miles away. I figure I'll go there once a month or if going through sightseeing.

I made it back from the lake this afternoon. The weather was hot but beautiful. I love being there but the drive up there and back just wipes me out.

We wore Sugar out. She went to bed when we got home and is still sleeping. Every time we caught a fish Sugar wanted it. We would let her lick it. Hope that doesn't make her sick. My sister kept dropping her fish trying to get them off the hook and I would have to chase Sugar down to get the fish. There are big pieces of concrete along the bank and Sugar would climb down and lay in the water. I think tomorrow she will get a bath.

we didn't stop last night until about 1:00 was so tired I didn't even read in my book.... what is it about driving that makes one tired??? we met our family for breakfast and a visit then left ft Atikinson heading for Iowa had thought about going into Illinois and following the river road but decided to just go down to the Quad cities and cross over there and follow the river from that area till we got to Muscatine and got to have a Maid Rite (for my husband of course) one for me and one for him... shouldn't have had the two... but the first was rather skimpy with the meat but the second one made up for it....then we went and visited again with brother and sister saw their new to us home (they have actually moved 3 times since the last time I was out there) one was to the apt next door... they ended up buying the condo but something about it they liked better than the one they were renting... then on to Columbus Junction got the potato chips that my kids wanted and then on to the cemetery thought I could drive right to it but we drove up and down and around and around finally called my sister in law and asked where the headstone was... was were I thought it was but we just kept over looking it was so close to the road and not the type of headstone that we were looking for.. then we stopped in Washington meet a friend at the park for a few minutes... then on we went was going to go to Winterset but there was a detour that took us way up to I-80 so we just stayed on it tell dd got too tired thought about going to the zoo but decided that I wasn't up to it and the amount of time we had to spend there wasn't long enough to feel like we would get our money's worth... so drove up to Sioux Falls if I'd been on my own and no dead like would have gone to see Pat but dd has to be to work on Weds. so we are trying to get there tomorrow night.. drove through the black hills finally drove into the parking lot as you couldn't make a u turn out of the turn in and saw them and drove out still cost 10.00 bucks... with the knees having been bent in the car and what ever else they are just really complaining... so we finally stopped for the night in Newcastle Wy... have enjoyed being away but it will also be good to be back...
would like to read but it's 1 already so might not...
you all have a great day
