Saturday morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday morning

Postby Othersharon » Sat Aug 21, 2021 10:54 am

Good morning all! Sun came out for awhile this morning but it’s starting to cloud up. Supposed to get thunderstorm this afternoon but nothing like you gals farther east of me. Shirl and Peggy, not sounding good for your areas. If they’re correct it won’t be affecting us here in central PA. I should get my yard work done but somehow I’ve gotten started rehanging curtains and washing windows in the kitchen. And one thing leads to another! Isn’t that always how it goes? But at least I managed to get dressed earlier! Figured that’s an accomplishment! Not much else happening here today. Just wanted to let you gals on both sids of the country I’m thinking of you. Interesting reading about the reactions to the booster vaccine. Don’t think I’ll be able to get it until next month. If reaction isn’t any worst then the second shingles shot then I should be okay. Okay, break’s over so guess I should get back to my project! Have a good day and hope you all have a good day and stay safe.

Afternoon Sharon and All, sunny and humid today. Have flash food warnings but I will be staying in. Traffic is gridlocked outside my window. Filling the air with their exhaust fumes. Can’t believe they leave bumper to bumper traffic on the highway and think this two lane road is a shortcut. They need to stop looking at their smartphones and use their brain. Afraid this is our future only do what technology tells you. Doing a couple loads of laundry and that will be my fun for the day. Lol. Will try to find a couple of gardening shows on tv. Be safe

Good morning gals! I slept great and woke up just after 8am.

Just went over to check on Lily. I finally got her to come out from under the bed and then even up on the bed with me! She just LOVES affection! Got a few pics I will post below. After about 10 minutes, she went back under the bed. I will go back later this afternoon. (I need the TLC too! :D ).

Feels more humid today but still supposed to stay in the low 100's for the next week so am grateful for that!

Need to do something around here today but haven't decided what. Will turn golf on TV in a bit. Also should go get my hair cut today. After I have cut it myself several times, it loses its shape and is hard to style right.

I hope all of you along the east coast stay safe and dry!

Have a good day! :D

This is Lily halfway out from under the bed...

Saturday here started again with smoky air. Hwy 50 (main road from Sacramento to Nevada on that end of lake) , on south side of Lake Tahoe is closed because of the fire, now over 70,000 acres and growing. I feel so for the over 6000 people evacuated and not knowing what they will return to.
I was late playing with my watercolor stamping/painting. Finally got my desk (Mel's former desk ) cleared, cleaned, and my supplies and a new lamp installed. Will try to show my first attempts later using the newer iPad.
Not much planned today. Hope to not have to get out in smoke. Have to reassess supplies and see if I can rearrange my menus.
Hope all in way of the east coast storm stay safe. Wish you could send rain this direction.
Need to go shower amd start my day, after my usual catchup on Facebook.

Hi ladies!

Sharon, I always enjoy your posts for PA. Hopefully you're far enough inland where Henri won't bother you.

Shirl, again, our weather is always the same. The traffic on the shore is such a downer. We're leaving here Thursday to head south and once we get through Richmond, it'll be smooth sailing. Other than our church and steamed crabs, I won't miss anything on the shore.

Barbie, lily is so pretty. Sorry you weren't able to capture another cat.

Velda, I think we'll be okay, as far as Henri goes. We've had our share of rain and I miss seeing the sun.

As most of you know, we have a TV outside, on the passenger side of our motorhome and Steve loves sitting outside watching it, but the neighbor on our passenger side says it's too loud. I have to admit the sites here are small and we're jam packed in. So Steve turned off the TV and came inside, as we have 3 three TV's inside. Now they won't speak to us, but we're leaving Thursday, so it's okay. Friends from church have invited us for dinner and they're serving smoked salmon. I'm taking a mandarin orange salad as a side. It's time for us to leave, so I wish all of you a good evening.

Afternoon here in northern Michigan and a pretty warm one at that. 87 on my weather station, but real feel is 90. It is humid, but not unbearable. Supposed to cloud up as afternoon goes on. Chance of rain, bot holding my breath. Cooler tomorrow with temp around 79.

Thinking of you gals on the east coast. See Henri is now up to 75 mph and now a Category One hurricane. . State of Emergency has been issued for CT. Rhode Island Emergency Management is giving an update on the Weather Channel regarding preparations. Shirl, all the traffic is probably trying to get away from the shore before Henri arrives, but like you say, They don’t look for alternate routes. Guess that will be your entertainment.

O’Sharon, you can come do insides of my windows

Not doing anything today, but did go to town and hit the hardware stores looking for something to fasten my new piece glass to my trailers screen door when I want to use it. Didn’t find what I was looking for, but got another idea. Also starting to gather clothes, craft stuff etc., to load into trailer. Not taking much as am only going for 5 days.

Guess we should get out and take a short walk. Stay safe on the west and east coasts. Haven’t seen Annie post on her fire tbread. Maybe she took a break. Hope all’s okay.

LOL. Thanks, Sue. Just now posted an update in two parts. Took me a while - I kept encountering a "SQL Error" that wouldn't let me post, I had to go through the entire thing, line-by-line, to find out where this SQL gremlin was hiding, before I was able to eliminate it.

I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was, finally had to just re-type part of the post, must have been something hidden in the cut-and-paste stuff that I was doing.

Post is up. Thanks for asking.

Fires still burning. :-(

None of them looking good, none of them contained, none of them "out".

The Caldor Fire near Lake Tahoe is possibly expecting a "wind event" this afternoon. Very not good.

After yesterday of feeling pretty punky woke up today feeling just fine. Had lots of energy and tended to the housekeeping chores. Vacuumed whole house (thinking I should have bought a smaller house). Love my Shark vacuum tho. Then I cleaned out the vacuum, washed, dried and put back in place. I think I vacuumed up a whole nuther dog. Threw in a couple loads of laundry. Cleaned the bathrooms. Then had some lunch. Now going to lean back with my afternoon Mocha and find something on tv to watch.

I have a couple of Roku tv's in the bedrooms and was very excited to hear Spectrum (my tv provider) and Roku came to an agreement so now I get Spectrum app on those tv's with all my same channels without renting a box. Which I never did as I just used streaming services.
Ya know it is the little things in life ha ha

Was reading several forums today on arguments for and against the vaccine. I think everyone has to make their own choice but please wear a mask and social distance. But....noooo they dont want to wear a mask..sheesh. Their main argument is that with the vaccine you can still catch Covid and you can pass it on. This is very true. But your chances of only getting a mild to moderate case are increased. We who are vaccinated still wear a mask, and social distance.

None of the available vaccines are “sterilizing” vaccines in the way a polio or smallpox vaccine is. When you have the polio vaccine, you cannot contract polio, nor pass it on. Covid vaccines aren’t sterilizing vaccines.
What they do is almost entirely prevent serious illness and death in the vaccinated. They do not prevent transmission of the virus, which is why social distancing measures are still important.
These vaccines essentially take covid from being a healthcare-system-destroying plague to a bad flu season, which is more manageable for hospitals and less deadly for patients.

Lots of dissention over being mandated to get the vaccine. We will see how this plays out.

I had my third dose on Thursday and felt fine that day. Very tired yesterday but based that on doing a lot of lifting and sorting in my son's basement in the afternoon, however, I had to wait in line at the dump/water fill station last night and realized later that I was unacceptably grumpy to others in line! And today, I had chills and a mild fever that was handled with some Advil and then tylenol several hours later. All is well now and feel back to normal. Reaction was very similar to second dose last early spring.

Anyway, I responded to the question in the General area why some of us were able to "skip the line" and get our third dose of vaccine. No cheating because recently recommended by the CDC and FDA for immunocompromised people, which I am likely one of. Was planning to go to my son's house tomorrow in the late afternoon, but think I will pass on it. I will see them the following weekend and the whole Labor Day weekend.

By the way, why do some people refuse the vaccine because they think it is not safe and yet are taking a de-worming medicine intended for livestock??? :o

been a really nice day... drove about enjoying looking at the old homes... love the older homes...
had lunch with brother and sister in law ... my husband's sister and her husband the nephew that got married today was there and then we went gift hunting ... found a music box with a willow tree figurine on it... thinking of wedding gifts what did your friends think of the gourd Barbie?
drove around a bit didn't want to get to the wedding too soon so enjoyed the a/c the wedding was outside and the space for the dinner ect was in a big barn type building very open... food was good company was better... it's been way to long I haven't been out since Larry passed away and so haven't seen anyone other than sister and brother in law and one nephew who came out to the funeral... kids have grown up it's a really eye opener we all could do better with the communication bit.
my son in law was released from the hospital today and he wanted to go home so go home they did... was met at the county border and given a police escort home... 6 cars if I recall the number correctly... he is a deputy sheriff and they were all co-workers... he will be off work for awhile can't patrol for at least 2 months but can go to work on light duty in a month I believe...
it was a long day the knee's are beyond hurting... the sitting not only in the car but on chairs I am sure has a lot to do with it... if we go past Cabela's I think I will get some walking sticks... need to do something says the one who just had some candy :?
you all have a great day we will be on our way meeting for breakfast then a trip down to IA had wanted to go the river road but guess it's better on the Ill side and that is I think to far out of our way but may know better when we look at the atlas that is in the car
Be safe
