Good morning Everybody. It looks like it’s going to rain.
Last night I prepared a lovely meal for a friend whose husband is out in Yellowstone for ten days. Judy never, ever cooks, so when Steve is away she has to forage for food. It’s a long standing joke between us. It gives me an excuse to make a really nice dinner and we have plenty of time to talk. So what’s for breakfast this morning—- chilled fruit soup ( peach, cantaloupe) and lime mousse.....Enjoy your day. Peggy

Morning Peggy and All, another very humid day 76% yuck. Have a Walmart pickup order but will not linger outdoors longer than necessary. Since I read you can cook eggs in the airfryer I always have several in the fridge. Love eggs so having sliced egg on a slice of whole wheat for breakfast.
Need to cook up a batch of steel cut oats today and found a slow cooker recipe for meatloaf that sounds good. The recipe calls for A1 steak sauce and Worcestershire, should add a little zing to plain old meatloaf. Need to dress so will be ready for Walmart call. Be safe

Good morning, we are back to triple digit heat predicted for the week. UGH Makes me just want to sit and veggie out even tho I have very good AC I have work to do outside LOL Just finished watering because it was only 66 out. Got my doors and windows open but not for very long I am sure. Oh well it is what it is.

I need to take my cardboard and get rid of it, also the block foam so will do that this morning, then stop at the store for a few things before it gets too hot out. Throw in a load of laundry and then see if I have the motivation to tackle something else.

Making enchiladas today as I picked up a roasted chicken the other day and ate on it for 2 days so now time to do a different dish. I have everything I need to make them except sour cream, so will pick that up this morning.

Need to head south to Medford on Wednesday for my eye doc appts. My friend that I stay with is going to be in Nebraska for a few days but she still wants me to stay at her house so I am grateful for that.

Good morning Peggy and everyone. I had an orange for breakfast and half of a scrambled egg. Sugar and I share an egg. I read somewhere that eating an orange everyday helps to keep you from getting macular degeneration. I'll see how long I can keep that up. My Vivo Fit has the picture of a cupcake on it. You can't hide from anything now days. lol

The RV shop called and the gas pump on the generator needs to be replaced. By the time you get through fixing some of these things you are well on the way to the cost of a new one. At least they have one in stock so might get it back today. Not that I am planning on going anywhere in this heat.

When I went out to feed, Frosty was laying on his back in the grass sunning. It's a little warm to be sun bathing in 90 degree weather with a fur coat. Two of my house cats have decided they want to be outside cats. I thought they might come back in when it got hot but the dummies just lay stretched out on the carport.

I went to the pond yesterday and got mud all over the golf cart. I'm probably lucky I didn't get it stuck. I wish the bucket was on the tractor. I would get Eddie to put some dirt in the mud hole. The old arena is full of sand but me hauling sand sounds a lot like work.

I think I'll make a meatloaf with the ground meat I got at Target yesterday.

Good Morning All, It is supposed to be 97 here today and with heat index could feel as high as 110!! I'm timing how long the dogs stay out. They are like your kitties Martha they like to sun bathe!

I called the neurosurgeons office to see about rescheduling my appointment but haven't heard back yet. I talked to the person who was going to drive me and she does not feel comfortable about being in a car with me for four hours. She works in health care and is seeing how fast the Covid cases are increasing. I am definitely in need of calming down! I know several calming techniques but I can't seem to make them work for me.

Gripe of the day……..When they have a whole car on the parking lot why do birds crap on the windshield in my line of vision. You can’t remove it with windshield wipers and washer. You have to get out and scrub it clean. I think I heard birds laughing in a nearby tree.

Son and three grandkids left at 7:30 this morning. I got up and said goodbye, then went back to bed because I had not slept well with a full house and two very loud thunderstorms in the middle of the night. Anyway, got up and started vacuuming, shaking and changing rugs, putting extra pillows away, cleaning bathroom and changing towels there, taking trash out, and more. Because I had my son in the overcab bunk and two kids in the bunkhouse bunks, I had a lot of stuff to put back in place. One of my bunkhouse bunks latches up onto the ceiling, and the bottom one turns into a two-person dinette.

Basically, I use the space underneath the dinette to store my printer, hand vac, extra paper towel and TP, my pan set and griddle, plus extra pop and water. So, all this stuff was put in outside storage bins, so after I vacuumed and put the bunks back in their regular position, I had to put everything back in place. I had four loads of laundry to do, but my RV is pretty clean and everything is back in place. Whew!

Kids and son were helpful, but four extra people really kept me busy. And the last day, they started picking on each other, all the way from "he touched me" to "tell her to be quiet." You have all heard it, I am sure. And this morning when two were waiting to use the bathroom to change their clothes, the middle girl decided to paint her fingernails in the bathroom while they were waiting. And dad is yelling at them to get ready!! Love my grandkids, but it was time for them to go home!!! The kids were really helpful, however, and took trash out and helped with just about everything. However, they did not eat all the food, so my refrigerator is still packed. I did buy a cheap styrofoam cooler we used for water and pop, which helped. Now I need the rest of today to rest from my cleaning!

I fell asleep around midnight and didn't wake up until 10:30! I did take a muscle relaxer before bed so that probably zonked me out pretty good. Shoulder feels good this morning.

Shirl, birds aim for windshields! And definitely don't use your windshield wipers to spread it all across the window!!

Those of you in the fire areas, stay indoors and away from the smoke! Velda, glad the wind changed and you have better air now.

Martha, Lola loves to lay out in the porch when it is 110+ degrees! Crazy cat! I still need to make my cat door for the slider but it has been too hot to work on it outside.

Judy, I would need a week to recover from all that!

Actually, they all brought sleeping bags, so all I provided were pillows and towels. 80% of the laundry is my dirty clothes and my bedding and towels. Michigan state parks do not have laundromats, but tomorrow I will be staying at a casino campground which does! I still do not like to use commercial laundromats because of COVID, so end up collecting laundry until I get to a campground that has one. Ohio state parks DO have laundromats, luckily.

we got enough rain to wet the decks yea!!! but had already watered the plants...
kinda fluffed up the soil in the planters and then added new soil mixing it in... hopefully the soil won't be so
compressed and although most of the plants are doing well perhaps this will just add to their life...she has quite a few plants and then I added more with what I had brought over... although not as many as she used to have... I remember as a kid counting the plants in our house or perhaps it was later and in this house but think it was the old house she had a grape ivy that went over the over wide door on one end and half way over the large window that we had it was quite the plant...
other than that I really didn't do much breakfast was fruit and cereal... it's Morning Summit from Costco... so very yummy and so very expensive... but if we get the amount of servings out of the box it's not that bad if I figured it out correctly
bought some shrimp the other day a "clam shell" cooked, with sliced lemon and sauce think it was almost a pound of shrimp but don't remember for sure so we had shrimp baked potato corn on the cob... any easy meal and I know that she really enjoys shrimp... invited my dd and her husband over for supper Saturday think it is going to be Swiss steak haven't had that in years... all I could get out of dd was mashed potatoes and this will go with mashed potatoes not sure what else though...
the air quality is sure bad Janice can't think of her sign in name but lives in SLC sorta one of the adjoining towns not sure which one said the other day that the air quality was the 2nd worst in the world... glad I'm not there right now...
have a friend that has been suffering with asthma the past month she says that there is no smoke in the air but I wonder she lives in WA on the sound....

I think we get so used to being by ourselves that sometimes it's hard to have more around.... even though we love having them and even though we love them it's sometimes hard... I know that mom and I have more quite time than conversation...
by now I've forgotten what I read and yes I could go back and reread but by then I would forget again so will suffice it to say that so glad to be able to read what all is going on in your lives

Tagging on here before midnight, so it's still Thursday here. We topped out at 107° here today. Be so happy when summer eases off into fall. My grandson turned 13 today. Was thinking I should send son and wife a sympathy card! Got some nice photos of him opening his gifts he asked for- NERF guns and those shaped metal wire puzzles. He looked happy. If Mel was still here, we might have made the trip, but right now with 2 elderly kitties, Mandy being so fragile, I'm not putting her through the stress of a long trip. Clear skies thankfully.

I think we get so used to being by ourselves that sometimes it's hard to have more around.... even though we love having them and even though we love them it's sometimes hard...

Judy and Sheila, I know exactly what you mean. I love my (adult) children more than I can say. When they come to visit (not since the beginning of the pandemic. . . ) I am overwhelmed with joy. When they leave, I weep. . . but am also glad to have my home back to myself again.

Is that selfish? I dunno.

. . . Mandy being so fragile, I'm not putting her through the stress of a long trip. Clear skies thankfully.

This has been one of the hottest - if not the hottest - summers I can remember. Week after week of 100+ degree temps here. Wednesday topped out at 108. Thursday topped out at 107. Today will probably top out at between 108 - 110. It is difficult for me to even go outside when it is this hot. Forget about taking a walk. The main reason I am able to even have a garden this year is because in the spring (when it was still relatively cool) I put down garden fabric (thus NO weeds) and every single plant (including my corn!) is watered by a drip system with timer. Thus little to no outside time required for garden maintenance, aside from harvesting.

June is usually our "coolest" summer month, July a bit warmer, with August and even sometimes now even September/early October still being "cookers". With the temps we have been having here thus far this summer, I dread what August and September might have in store.

I pulled the rest of the onions in my garden late yesterday afternoon (when the temp was "down" to about 103) because the onions looked like they were starting to cook in the ground. I had to come in to take a shower to cool off before the job was done, finished up after dark when the temp was down to about 96 or 97.

I need to get serious making some different plans, I think.

We topped at 107° again today, but now, at 1800 (6 pm), it's plummeted to 103. At 2230 (1030 pm) when I headed to bed last night, it was still 88°! But humidity has been averaging only around 24%. In next few weeks, it's likely that one by one the hydro (water) turbines, that provide much of CA electricity will be shutting down due to lack of water to power them! I don't know if that has happened before, I sure don't recall it and I was born in CA! Anne, there's something for you to research, have they ever had to shut turbines down for lack of water?
I was out off and on today, making sure Sean didn't pass out in the heat. I made him electrolyte drinks and he had his shade structure tent up. He really wants to get my bedroom deck completed with renovation-replacing some surface boards , making rails sound, and building steps where old spa sat for decades. Sure is looking nice. One of these days I'll learn to put photos here!
Son is wiped out from a extra long , extra tough PT work out today, so hopefully we will head to our beds early. We have Olympics recorded so can watch anytime.
My Mandy cat, isn't sick per se but is 16 1/2 and had that thyroid treatment much later than I would have if vets hadn't kept telling me RX was better, thus she has damaged kidneys and a heart murmur. She eats well most days, as long as I open enough cans to find that days choice! She has always been good about drinking from her fountain, luckily so hasn't needed sub Q fluids. But her cataracts are worsening and she may have slight hearing loss. She comes to living room each night, mostly on her own, or begging a ride if I come back to bathroom, she meows then when I get close, she climbs up! So I have her in a very loose hospice plan of my choosing, not willing to let vet do expensive tests and force her onto medications and special diets. As long as she appears happy, I'm good with just giving her all the TLC in the world. She could live a day or years. Whatever happens she knows she is loved ! Her same age (3 weeks older) sister hasn't really changed at all, but has been raw carnivore her entire life as opposed to Mandy preferring dry (best I could find) kibble until last August when she suddenly decided she preferred canned (best no grain all meat I can buy).
Nothing planned for weekend as heat goes on!

Was 107 degrees here at 5:00 p.m. today, was 90 about 10:00 p.m. last night, didn't check later than that. When I moved to this area from Southern California about 40 years ago, I don't remember any of the 40 summers ever being as brutal with the heat as has this one.
