Back to Work Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Back to Work Monday

Poor kitty spent the whole day in the trap in my bathtub yesterday. She did eat a little, but she had diarrhea at one point and I wasn't able to clean it up so it didn't smell so good in there the rest of the day  . I tried talking to her gently but she just hissed at me, so I just left her alone. I had the trap covered in a sheet to keep her calmer. About 7:30 last night I took her outside and released her. She ran across the yards and disappeared. I hope she will be OK. I washed down the trap and cleaned up the bathtub. I will need to get some puppy pads for future kitty rescues.

I have some phone calls to make this morning and then the lady who is buying my tent will be here at 11am. Then off to work at noon.

Have a good day! :D

Barbie, the 3 kitties that appeared in our pasture last week ran into the pole barn through the big back garage door which is kept open in good weather in the summer. Many places to hide under and behind things in there. I feed them up front where we come and go in the hopes they get used to us. Well they moved from back of the pole barn to the storage room in John's workshop. Only come out at night to eat. This I know as I have seen 2 of them come out at dusk, eat and race back into the work shop. So now we have a real problem, how to get them out of the storage room! If we step in there we are blocking their exit. So I decided I only put food out in the morning up by the front sliding door and take it away at night. If they get Hu gray enough they should come out to eat. I hate to think of the mess they are making back there with no litter box. I really don't think we will be able to ever tame them. P,us they need to be neutered! As if I don't have enough to do dragging the hose around watering our gardens. One day the flowers and shrubs get watered and the next day the vegetable garden. A drought plus my two cataract surgeries have put me far behind this summer. Hope to get at least one camping trip in by fall. Use go move the hose.

Rita, maybe you can get ahold of the Wright County humane society and see if they do the TNR program or know of someone who does. They are probably leaving the storage room to do their business. They don't like to do that near where they sleep/eat. Once they are feral (especially born and raised that way) it is hard to domesticate them.

Hi ladies!

Barbie, that is so sweet of you to take care of the feral cats! Rita, I hope you're able to do something with the cats there, too. Shirl, thanks for spreading the word of our moving sale.

Steve and I just got back from the house and 2 days after the sale made over $ 200 and we have a pending sale for Friday of $ 800.00! Someone will be by tomorrow to talk me down on our Victrola. I despise having to give things away but it is what it is.

Crab cakes and squash with melted cheese and fried bacon and a salad are on the menu for dinner. We never tire of crab cakes.

Mostly recovered from tooth removal. Because it was a big molar with a root canal, the dentist ended up taking it out in pieces, which meant a lot of digging, which was horrible, although not really painful. Transportation was tricky because no place to park big motorhome, so I left it at my son's house and borrowed his car, then when I was done, returned car and got into motorhome. Headed out to get on turnpike or find a big parking lot to spend some time in, but was almost out of gas and made a wrong turn out of gas station, which meant I was going in wrong direction. (Don't like leaving RV in road in front of son's house because it is not very wide.) Uber is just not back up and running in a lot of areas, but that would have made it easier.

By this time, the numbing shots (multiple) were wearing out, so I found a place to turn around and took a couple of Advil and changed the gauze I was biting down on. Could not find a big parking lot to park in so got on turnpike and headed for first service area. Pulled over and drank water to better wash down pills, and rinsed mouth!! Sat in comfortable recliner and relaxed until Advil started kicking in. Drove about 70 miles to overnight RV hookup area, paid my $20, plugged in, took half of a Vicodin, and collapsed! Whew.

Had some soup and a chunk of key lime pie my son gave me--nice soft food, but I am still hungry two hours later, so going to scramble some eggs. I am a pretty good planner, but I completely forgot about the soft food diet for the next couple of days. Short drive tomorrow to Michigan campground, so I will stop at store and do some grocery shopping, which I need to do anyway.

Going to try to get to bed early tonight.

I don't think we ever had very many cats that were really feral. Years ago before I started getting cats fixed if one of the barn cats had kittens and I didn't get to them early they would be wild. Harold was training horses and was at the barn all the time so they got use to us. They would eventually get tamer. Harold didn't like for them to be too tame because they would be under the horses. When he built the new horse barn he left the doors to the feed room and saddle room about 4 inches off the floor. Cats could squeeze under the doors so they didn't get shut up. The bad thing was that the varmints could get under the door too. We had to be careful going to the barn at night. We might meet a skunk.

Barbie, a good idea to use puppy pads in the traps. I don't know how much puppy pads cost but I have been using the bed pads since that's what I have. I don't think I have ever made it to the vet with Stinky without her pooping in the kennel. I'll be on the side of the road trying to change the pad so she doesn't get it all over her.

Judy, that was some day you had. I know you were happy to finally get settled. The turnpike in New Jersey I was on had the RV hookups. That's the first time I had ever seen that. I think more motels should put in RV hookups for people that just need a place to spend the night. I have stayed at a couple but they are few.

I mowed the front yard yesterday. I wish I had tried to get more mowed because it stormed twice today so won't be mowing for a while. Next week we might only have 30 to 40 percent chances of rain instead of the 70 to 90 percent.

I have been ignoring the weekly messages from AT & T about me needing to get a new phone. Today I got a letter saying they are shutting down the 3 G network and they are sending me a free phone. Free to AT & T will probably be a can and a string. They better not charge a phone to my bill.

Judy, so glad you got through the extraction ok, but very surprised they let you drive ! All oral surgeons here won't even operate until they meet your driver and driver promises to pick you up! It's right on consent here, can not drive day of procedure!
Another HOT day at 103° at 4 pm! Keep hoping for a cooler week. All day they said possible thunder showers and sky stayed mostly blue! No smoke so far thankfully!
Pretty quiet week ahead. Sean, the handman sneaked in between 6:30 and 8:30 tonight and I never even heard him as I was at opposite end of the house. He wrote later asking what I thought of the progress, which had me puzzled since I didn't know he was here! Guess I'll look in morning!
Have a good Tuesday everyone.
