It’s Monday Agsing

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

It’s Monday Agsing

Morning . Boy, these weeks are flying by. Seems like it was just Monday the 5th and now it’s Monday the 12th. But it is going to be a beautiful day again. Currently 55 out there and supposed to be upper 70’s. I can’t believe the extreme heat those of you out west are having. I would be getting out of Dodge if I were out there. And here I am with perfect summer Weather, sunny, highs in the mid to upper 70’s, gentle breezes and no humidity. Everybody’s been remarking about the weather being so nice. I hope I can hand this off to you gals out East, when this high pressure begins to move out.

It’s been three great days for working outside. Finished my deck project on Sunday, finally. Also painted the porch posts and railings, did some touchup on the porch floor. Mowed the grass after all the rain we had last week, cleaned up some sticks, pine needles etc., mowed and trimmed the Subdivision entrance etc. so everything’s done and looking good. Now I will putter with fun decorating projects. Still need to finish the ear repair on my cement deer, so I can get her painted and put out front of house. Will paint the wood watering can given to me a few years ago. Thought it would look cute with some fake flowers on my bench I built. Was talking with my neighbor friend, who , like me, is always into some projects or something too, and we both agreed it’s our love for wanting to be outside, that keeps us busy doing things all rhe time. We are getting fresh air, exercise and enjoying doing it. She has the cutest decorated yard. Karen, you seem to be a bit like we are in that you are busy getting your yard the way you want it too.

Need to run the vac this morning, then off to town for bit of shopping. Might work on that deer this afternoon. Bit of a breeze starting up out there. Barbie, hope you are feeling better. Martha, hopefully you will get your MH back quick, so you can go camping.

Have a nice day everyone and please stay safe in the extreme heat out west.

Going to be hot again today so just finishing my first cuppa joe then will head outside before the heat rises. I dont work well in the heat so need to get on the stick. My yard is a work in progress and I am not doing too much with it until next year. Partly because I dont know what to do LOL Right now I have a garden area, and I have tomatoes in containers, potatoe bags are booming, squash producing so they are all doing great. Planted 2 lilac bushes, azalea, and a burning bush on one side of the house. Got the drip system working so just need to spread the mulch and that side will be done. Funny part is I almost never see that side LOL but my neighbor does.

Bought lots of soil, compost and manure yesterday at Home Depot so need to bury the potatoes so they will keep growing. Then need to clean off my deck, dang it is a long deck LOL I want to power wash it and get the grime off for a while anyway. I am thankful for it as the sun doesnt hit it BUT I also face the wrong way for a breeze most of the time. But the house stays cool. My front deck only gets sun in the morning so again I am pretty happy that my house isnt getting afternoon sun like my other house did.

Off to hit the yard, then will come in for a shower and some breakfast. Might head over to Home Depot (my home away from home) and go inside today and get everything I didnt get yesterday due to the smell of the manure in my car LOL the sun beating on it didnt help, but only about a mile from home so all is well this morning.

Again Sue, you make me tired with all your projects! And Karen, I’ll bet your yard and garden will be lovely! I was able to get a little bit done outside yesterday and then late afternoon the storm warning was posted. We got some wind and rain here but other parts of my county and north of here had tornado warnings! And more to come later this afternoon so as wet as it is and going to be mowing won’t happen until later in the week. Rascal slipped back into his routine fairly quickly so that Mae me happy. I had plans to avoid the fireworks Saturday but just as he started to go outside the booms started. They started earlier then it was scheduled! About and hour or so later I tried to get him out and even leashed him but he wasn’t having any of it. He usually complies on leash but he really dug in so I figured he was more frightened than I thought so I gave in. Figured he’d want to go out in the middle of the night but he slept through until about 7. Went out with no problem then! Guess I should get ready to head out for doctor appointment in a little while. Just semi annual check in. And not even seeing the doctor! Crazy medical system. Hope you out west are staying cool. Your temps are unbelievable and hanging around for much to long! Have a great day.

We just had a big rain so guess I won't be mowing today. The radar shows rain all around me. Sugar has a vet appointment this afternoon for her 6 month heart worm shot. I gave her a bath. She must be liking a bath better because she went right in the bathroom and got in the shower. The bathroom was a disaster but the dog is clean. lol The thing that holds the shower head has broken more. It had already rusted out and I rigged something to hold it. I saw something on Lowe's web site that I think will work if I can install it. This house is 15 years old and things are starting to fall apart.

I need to go by Tractor Supply and get a gate wheel. The one on the gate going to the barn has broken and that gate is heavy. I have seen people in there with dogs but not sure how they feel about you going with your dog. Sugar would love it.

Karen, I wish I was as ambitious with my gardening as you are. The weeds are taking over the rose bed. I am afraid to put my hands in there to pull them. I need to find some leather gloves and use the small rake to get the weeds out and put more mulch.

I haven't been to the doctor in over 3 years. When I went on medicare they quit calling me and I quit calling them. Except for the colon doctor, they will start bugging me when it's time for that. I do go to the eye doctor every year.

Hi ladies!

I'm like Sheila, because I read all your posts and unless I take notes, which I don't, I can't remember who did what. BJ, I'm so happy the plumbing repair went better than anticipated. I worked for an electrical contractor for most of my working life and know how expensive these repairs can be. Martha, I hope things dry up so you can cut the grass and at some point, bring your RV home. Sue, it's nice to hear your weather is the way it should be. For you gals out west, I am so sorry you have to put up with the dreadful temperatures you're experiencing. We're in the low to mid 90's and usually August is the warmest month is August, so wondering what's going on with the weather system. Beth, how much longer is your stint where you are working? Shirl, our weather is the same but I enjoy hearing about your patio garden.

We went to a double funeral today for my oldest sister (she would have been 71 in Dec. 2020) and her husband who died maybe 6 or 8 weeks ago. It was a military funeral but very brief. It started 9:00 this morning and was over 9:13 and we were shoo'd out the door so they could prepare for the next funeral. We are working our butts off taking things out of the house for the dumpster or moving sale for this Saturday. I have never been this physically exhausted after a few hours of back breaking work. I am looking forward to being a minimalist and never having to do this again. On a good note, our small family that is left and an old friend of my parents got together for dinner last night at a restaurant. It was fun and the food was good. MD has really good seafood, which I miss in FL, but I'm a decent cook, but it's fun to have a night out without having to be in the kitchen.

Irmi, besides physically exhausting work going to your sister and BIL's memorial/funeral service could have just layered another level of exhaustion on you....

And yes Martha, Tractor Supply allows dogs as does Rural King, Cabalas, Home Depot and other stores....besides the usual PetSmart. I go to the stores to practice obedience with my dogs. Those aisles make for some interesting healing patterns. And you cant beat the distractions.

Sue the problem is finding it cooler... we would have to go a very long distance to find it cooler....
and now we have smoke from who knows who the culprit is but it's really hazy
there are days and then there are day's today was one that I don't know about in some ways it was good other ways well let's just say we survived
took mom to get her post box renewed for the coming year... it's a free one but have to show all sorts of proof you live where you say you do got there got the walker out to the door and she remembered she didn't have here wallet so back home for the purse get to the post office yes she had to go!!!! part of the proof with driver's license so she goes to get the driver's license out of her wallet and couldn't find it looked through it and through her purse finally I said is there someplace in your check book it could be cause we weren't finding it... looked in her wallet which is where we found it at and we actually had it with us then the wait why they have 1 clerk on duty with all that was there I don't understand.... so we go to the car and I say do you want to go to the grocery store no don't feel like it and too hot to sit in car... just take me home and then go out to the store... by the time I get home I've lost all desire to go to the store and the soup in fridge didn't sound good.... so went to Wendy's for salad and a frosty my kind of meal mom ate the chicken and strawberries out of it and the rest was tossed as it would just go wilty before she wanted to eat it...
my nephew just so can irritate me I had bought some deli meat probably a week old guess he deemed it too old and tossed it my feeling are trust that I know what is bad and that I will toss it if it is... now if mom was here by herself then do so just don't do it on my watch!!! my rant for the day
you all have a good day

It was really hazy here all day. Not sure if it was smoke or dust or what. I couldn't smell anything but couldn't see the mountains in any direction. There wasn't much wind so it doesn't make sense that it would be dust/sand. I don't think there are any fires down this way. I guess there are some really bad fires up in northern CA tho. The temps are coming down here some but still humid.

My next door neighbor went to a hotel tonight because of the power outage here tomorrow starting at 5:30am and lasting til around 2pm. I will take Lola to the clubhouse in the morning to spend a few hours there. Then at noon, I will take her to my co-workers house and get her set up there in her new screen tent for the day while my co-worker and I are at work. I will try out the screen tent in the clubhouse to make sure it will be comfy for her.
I need to get everything ready tonight to put in the car in the morning. Am hoping the house (or at least my bedroom will stay cool until about 8am. Will turn the AC temp down a little more than usual tonight.

I realized that I am getting a lot of heat coming from my skylights. I will stop at Home Depot this week and pick up some silver insulating stuff to cover those up. Hoping my ladder is tall enough for me to reach up that high. My ceilings are vaulted so they are up pretty high.

Just an FYI...when you are typing your post, you can scroll down to read the previous posts for a reminder of what everyone else posted.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
