Morning all. Another great sunshiny dsy on tap. High around 80. Right now it’s about 50. I’m with you gals regarding summer. Fall and Spring are my favorites. I don’t mind the winters either. With all the clothing out there for colder weather now, if one doesn’t dress to stay warm, then it’s their own fault. And all the snow removal equipment nowadays, makes clearing snow much easier. At least in those seasons, one can get outdoors and get exercise fresh air as opposed to having to stay in, in hot weather.

Boat ride with neighbors had to be postponed as thty had to go back home. They live in the Detroit metro area, which was hit by some very severe weather midweek, knocking out power to some areas. Their area was still out as of yesterday and thty have two refrigerators full of food etc., they were worried about. So we will wait to get together in August. But I did wind up getting an unexpected boat ride when I went over to see another neighbor. Turns out she was out on the lake with another neighbor, who had picked her up with her pontoon boat. Thry were out cruising when Thry saw me sitting on her porch and came over, picked myself and the dogs up. So the fur kids got their first boat ride yesterday.

So today, I am going to finish the deck up and then work on the porch. Since I wasn’t meeting with original neighbors, I was able to prime and paint my remaining deck railings and also my porch ones, touch up a few spots with primer on the deck and mow my front grass while letting the primer dry. Looks like we have some showery weather for part of next week, so will be nice to have it all done.

So guess I will get moving here, as I have a board to replace on my deck steps before I paint and want to get that deck section done while it’s in the shade. Porch is roofed over, so no sun beating in me there. Barbie, good luck with the traps. Beth, do you think you will be working in the part of the country next year since you mentioned you were coming East. Judy, if you have a bumper on your MH, I can make you a carrier to put on there and keep your sewer hose in, gets it out of your compartment. But it has to be a square bumper.

Good morning, Sue and all. Things are back to our normal again. The kids picked up the brats about 5 yesterday so we were able to have a peaceful evening! But all in all having 2 extra dogs it went pretty good. The youngest one just needs to quit growling and chasing Rascal! I did keep them separated as much as I could. On leash most of the time and some crate time too. Sure glad I still had the huge crate. As long as little one was controlled Rascal was able to move around. Little one is such a cuddle bug and spent time on my lap! The female and older pup is fine with Rascal and they even played together! It was a crazy few days! Actually seemed awfully quiet after they left! Now I just have to get us through a fireworks show tonight about 10. It’s set up the other side of town and is really loud here at my house. I figure I’ll head up to the bedroom and turn on the ac and radio and hope it muffles the sound a bit! Or else maybe take a ride out of town! We’ll see! We’re supposed to have several days of rain starting tomorrow too and these nicer temps are supposed to go away and back into the high 80’s. Not as hot as you all are having out west but the humidity is super high. Like some of you have mentioned I don’t tolerate the summer weather as well as I did when I was younger! I complain about the snow but Sue is right and it does get me outside and active. Love my snowblower! Beats shoveling! Time to get moving and accomplish something today since it looks like the only dry day for awhile! Have a good day and stay cool and safe!

"Showery"?

"Several days of rain. . . and these nicer temps are supposed to go away and back into the high 80’s"?

[Sigh] Must be nice.

At 5:00 p.m. last night it was 112 here at my house (prediction had been for 109). Today is predicted to be 113, I'm betting it will be hotter than that.

Not a drop of rain in sight, of course. The norm for northern California this time of year. I usually try to play "toss the ball" with Joe at least once per day, because he is a high-energy dog and needs the exercise, when it is hot and when he begins to pant hard I rinse him all over with the garden hose to cool him down (which he enjoys).

Much above 105 there is just too much risk of hyperthermia to do ball toss with him, even with the garden hose option, so I don't do it.

Joe even likes to be bathed. He made me laugh the other night when it was really hot (I have my a/c set to 84 during the day, 82 at night because the system is 20+ years old and I'm afraid it is going to crap out on me) and he was panting a bit inside the house from doing mostly nothing. When I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth, he stared closely into my eyes and then jumped into the tub all on his own! He has never done this before, I usually have to lift him in.

When I said "Want a shower?" ("shower" is the word I use, even when using the garden hose), he jumped back out of the tub, ran into the other room, and I thought well, that is that. But no. In about 30 seconds he came back, this time with his ball in his mouth, dropped the ball into the tub, and then jumped back in himself, all the while looking at me with a pleading expression on his face.

Well, it was bedtime, I had just changed the sheets, the thought of sleeping with a wet dog didn't exactly appeal - but what the heck!! Of course I gave him his "shower" (I have one of those detachable nozzles on my shower head which makes this easy). How could I not when he was so obviously asking for one?

Cooled him right down. He was one very happy boy!!

Who says dogs can't use their body language to communicate with us, if we learn to read it and to pay attention? :D

Anne, we had a Boston Terrier that would jump in the tub asking for a bath. I think it was because he wanted relief from the fleas. If there were pills for fleas back then I didn't know about them. I got Butch for my son's 8th birthday and he was the perfect dog for a little boy. He would play as rough as they would.

My son got his second shot yesterday. He whined for 2 weeks after the first one but wasn't complaining last night. I'm glad I got him to get them. His girlfriend is involved with the plays in Lafayette so is around a lot of people all the time. If anyone needs one it's her. I'm surprised the place she works doesn't encourage her to get the shots.

It hasn't rained yet this morning but there are scattered showers around. I haven't checked the rain gauge in a couple of days. I bet we are getting close to 4 inches of rain this week.

Afternoon All, it’s Traffic Saturday so was feeling blah. I didn’t have any plans but would like the option to travel if the spirit moved me. Sitting in my pjs, why bother to dress. Porch Friend texted, let’s get carry out from an Italian restaurant nearby that we have never tried. Traffic is already heavy but the restaurant delivers. Will check traffic cams close to dinner time, try to get into traffic on my road and make my way to her house. I do not have to go out on the highway so fingers crossed. She has a sun porch and lives on the water so worth the hassle. The blahs have disappeared so will jump in the shower without the ball. :D Be safe

Anne, that is a great story about Joe in the shower with his ball! Made me laugh!!

Slept in this morning a bit. Had a rough night with food poisoning that started about 7pm last night! Not sure if it was something from the party or what I ate after I got home. Something sure didn't sit well with me tho! Yikes! Not fun! Finally settled down about midnight and was able to fall asleep. Feel pretty good this morning and about 5 pounds lighter! I think I will throw out the pizza I brought home from work, just in case. Will have to see if anyone else at work got sick.

Gonna be so hot and humid today! Want to do laundry but the laundry room is not air conditioned so it will be unbearable in there too.

My co-worker said she would keep Lola at her house so I can go to work on Tuesday. I just ordered an indoor/outdoor pen for her to use for that, so she feels safer being in an enclosure and won't hide somewhere in her house. I have wanted to get one anyways to allow her to be outside occasionally (once it cools off!).

I have recently bought some sundresses for super hot days but keep forgetting to wear them. I have one on today tho. Much more comfortable than shorts!

Have a good day! :D

Hi all,

Its been a busy couple of weeks. Had a close friend from KS come out for a week. We had so much fun - just doing everyday things, but had lots of good talks & tons of laughs.

The new A/C is working great. Anne, my old one was installed in 1970! - it continued to work, but probably not as much as yours has to. I only turn it on for a few hours a day, and am grateful to have it - I'll need it more in August. Not sure how those of you can stand those temps of 100+ We've been lucky here with it not going much above high 80's. Wish we'd get some rain, but I know that's not going to happen. :(

Glad you like your new job, Barbie.
Anne, loved the story about Joe getting in the tub - glad he got his 'shower' to cool down.
Sue, just reading about your projects wear me out!

I'm with the rest of you liking Fall & Spring best. Winters out here are nice, but the intense sun of summertime is exhausting. Mornings & evenings are always nice so guess I really don't have anything to complain about.

As for tornados vs earthquakes. At least with tornados you typically have warnings - even if its just the sky & winds changing, plus there are places you can go for protection - basements, interior rooms (like a bathroom), etc, but with earthquakes, they seem to just happen & not much you can do to protect yourself. Funny thing is the first one I felt was back in KS when I was moving out of my house there. I finally felt a decent one out here - it was eerie. Anne, living where you do must be concerning. Coming from KS, I love to watch threatening weather, I miss the smells & freshness a good storm brings with it.

Stay cool out there!
Catherine

It's been in the high 70s for last couple of days here in northeast Ohio and even mostly sunny today. Everything is still soaked, however, from rain last few days. Tomorrow is also supposed to be a high of 77, but with more rain in the afternoon and then a little rain each day all week. Mostly will be in low 80s of high 70s all week, and that weather should be headed your way, Sharon.

This state park has been absolutely packed with families yesterday and today, but the tags on posts show almost everyone checking out tomorrow. Yea!! The only other place to stay closer to my son's house is a KOA, and you know it would be as bad or even worse with weekend crowds. Today, every site was filled and lots of kids riding bikes and scooters, and whatever. Anyway, it will be a lot quieter tomorrow. I dumped tanks and went out to return something at Walmart's, then stopped at a really good cupcake shop. Got 8 cupcakes in the refrigerator and will take them to my son's house for a treat tomorrow. He will pick me up when he gets back from the lake condo and then has to go out of town on business for a few days, so he will loan me car until he gets back on Thursday. I have a gastroenterologist appt on Monday and also a dentist appt for an infected tooth. I suspect they might have to pull it, so really dreading it.

went to my eye appointment today doing ok although he suggested that I use eye drops for dry eye.. dang didn't know that I had dry eye.... and recommended a supplement for eye health hopefully I will remember to take it more than I remember any other supplement that one should take... he even printed out a coupon for me to use for the eye drops... 4 dollars off... did I remember to use it of course not  oh well it will be good till end of year if I can remember to use it next time. the coupon was for the supplement
then went to grandson's house for awhile to kill time... had hopes of going to Joanne's and getting some yarn but another time if I finish this afghan soon and haven't gotten any yarn will then need to go on and work on that Swedish weave... would like to finish it before the wedding as it is for my sister in law and her husband... and we will be seeing them...
as to season's I'm actually a summer/fall/spring person  yes it can get hot in the summer but I love to see the flowers blooming just so much that I love about the summer
I did get my hair cut today as well first time in not sure how long at least a year plus perhaps longer can't remember when I had Joran do my hair if it was last spring or the fall before.. think the fall before though... so had a lot taken off seems strange not to have it up in a thing to keep it off my neck...
got home really late so really haven't been able to enjoy being home...
you all take care

Big news here, is, we reached 115° around 4! Stayed there almost an hour before trending down. Now at 01 am, it's 84! We knew it would be a hot weekend, so just set things up so we could stay inside with AC! Watched YouTube and tv and ignored the world.
Barbie, that's a neat looking pen. How large is it? Glad your jobs going well. You seem to have a lot of digestive disturbances, have you considered a very limited diet , an elimination diet where you only eata very few foods for a month, then one at a time add stuff back to figure out what classes of foods are your triggers?
Glad some are havng rain, wish we would here!
Hope coming week trends down and hope those with iffy AC it holds together for now. I read this heat wave has already killed 200 people! Scary.
Anne, that sure was cute of Joe, making his needs known! With our low humidity, 17% here at one point, at least you didn't stay damp long.
Sheila, as to dry eye, you will be amazed at how much better your eyes feel and even clearer vision, when properly moistened! I have found that drops without preservative, such as Systane Ultra, that come in little plastic tubes, have the best effect at making my eyes feel better and vision clear. I get about 3 doses each eye out of each little capsule, just be careful not to touch tip of capsule to eye or hands so it stays clean for several uses. I was using the cheaper liquid tears and it just wasn't effective plus I was having to use it as much as once an hour! I also recommend getting a $2 plastic pill box divided into days of week. Fill once a week and you can tell what you remembered or forgot.
Have a good Sunday everyone.
